if we go back to last time we were in a similar scenario in 2000, we watch technology stocks, now we are sitting in this spot where we have a i and everything has been good. the inflation was supposed to be transitory and we know how that ended up and all this pent-up demand where people are still spending spending spending and it is starting to hurt. it's hurting the rest of the world more than us because we have fixed rate mortgages. a lot of consumers, their household expense hasn't changed the equivalent standard rent standpoint but everything else has and i'm seeing on a daily basis, my landscaper telling me his business is slow. i'm walking around talking to people telling me there business is slow.

why is that? we have these elevated interest rates that aren't going away and it is starting to show a lot of cracks under the surface. when you get extended, it is unfortunate because when something happens it tends to be really fast and really violent. don't know if that something is going to happen. ashley: how big a drop, sorry to interrupt, take a look at the s&p, what kind of drop, 5%, 10%? >> that would be icing on the cake. we can see the s&p 500 ship the 2200 range again in the next 24 months. ashley: oh my goodness. that is romantic indeed. all right, listen, let's get your stock picks very quickly, given your concerns i want to get to some of these stock picks. explain.

third-quarter profit at american express stronger-than-expected but in a sign of caution they boosted their provisions for credit losses by 58% from last year and that would account for the increased likelihood of wealthier american express customer defaulting on their debt and that's why stock is down. take a look at her tnt moving in the other direction, it's up 9% in the past two days, up 31/4 following earnings they got an upgrade to outperform. the firm really like their free cash flow and expect that to improve. crux is also higher. they were upgrading to purchase at raymond james, the stock is up 3%, price target 110. raymond james believes it is oversold as a stock and based on the checks on stores and social media they are really popular including overseas. ashley: i was in the uk, and not talking about the

ashley: president biden is expected to ask congress for $100 billion in aid to israel and ukraine on top of the additional $105 million for palestinians in gaza and the west bank. grady trimble at the white house of this morning. how is the biden administration going to ensure the money pledged to palestinians won't fall into the hands of hamas? >> reporter: the administration says it will go through highly vetted organization so humanitarian aid does not end up in the hands of hamas. republicans are highly skeptical of that, already, some aid into the region is being held up. there are reports a convoy of trucks that is supposed to be making its way through egypt is delayed so that is on the $100 million in assistance to raza. here's a breakdown of president

america stands with israel, we stand with them today, we will stand with them tomorrow, the tough fighting that is ahead we are going to stand with israel every step of the way. israel has no choice but to go into gaza and hunt down and crush hamas once and for all but i am glad president biden is now mentioning iran in this. 's earlier statement as you recall didn't mention iran but iran holds the leash on hamas and hezbollah. leading state sponsor of terrorism in the world, hamas gets most of their support, resources from iran. it is one of the reasons i was one of those who call early on for deployment of the eisenhower battle group to the eastern mediterranean to join the ford battle group. we've got to make it clear to

iran, to assad and syria, hezbollah, lebanon that when israel goes in and does what they need to do in gaza, any attempt by iran or other actors in the region to make this into a wider war will be met with american force shoulder to shoulder with israel. i think already we should have canceled the $6 million the biden administration transferred as a ransom and put the snapback sanctions into place which i believe the weak and feckless foreign policy of this administration, the disastrous withdrawal from afghanistan, two years of appeasement to iran have emboldened the enemies of freedom around the world. we got to get back to american strength. ashley: i want to talk about the coupling of the aid for ukraine and israel. do you think the president should have proposed separate packages?

>> i'm someone that believes america is the leader of the free world, we are the arsenal of democracy and i've been a strong supporter of military aid to the war fighters in ukraine. it is in our national interest to give ukraine what they need to fight and repel the russians because i have no doubt that if vladimir putin overruns ukraine, won't be long before he crosses the border that are men and women have to fight. whether he should have paired them but to make the case that we are the leader of the free world, we ought to be supporting israel shoulder to shoulder, no daylight between the us and israel but i really do believe this is the moment, in the wake of that failed and feckless foreign policy of this administration, the disastrous withdrawal from afghanistan, appeasement toward iran and other actors in the world stage we've got to get back to

leading the free world or the rest of the 21st century could look a lot more like the first half of the 20th century. ashley: next one, the u.s. navy destroyer shut down several missiles and drones fired by the uranian back houthis in yemen. the pentagon believe they were fired toward targets in israel, military bases in syria and iraq that house american soldiers, they are under drone attacks, two us military bases coming under fire while president biden was delivering his address last night. my question is, is this the widening of the war? >> we need to recognize the houthis like hezbollah and hamas are all surrogates for iran. i want to commend our navy for knocking those down. i was in the situation room

when iran fired those missiles. we watched them tracking in. there was no loss of american life. we've got we got to take this moment very seriously and if we continue to see an escalation, the houthis or hezbollah, we need to be prepared to meet that with american force, not just against those surrogates of iran but we need to make it clear to iran that they will pay a price, that we will move against refineries, other targets that iran holds dear. the only way to ensure that israel has the freedom to focus on destroying hamas and this not spinning into a wider war is unambiguous american strength in the region and i will continue to call for that. ashley: one last one, your

presidential campaign has 620,000 of debt, you have roughly one. $2 million cash on hand, that's going to be a difficult challenge for you i would imagine. what your strategy moving forward. can you make the debate november 8th in miami? pens:i am running for president because i have the most experience, the most qualified, tested conservative in this race. if you look at the world becoming more dangerous by the day, look at the struggles we are facing, the border, crime in our streets, inflation at a record level that you talk about here on varney and company every day, the reality is this is no time for on-the-job training, we are reaching out to folks across country, people going to mike pence 2,024. every day, we are working hard to make that debate stage and working hard to take our case for experienced conservative leadership to the american people and i'm going to continue to do that every day.

been muted. the president of the university of pennsylvania put out a statement that the alumni are important members of the community. harvard did not respond to our requests for comment but as donors threaten to close their check books columbia university is postponing its dedicated day of fundraising. it's called columbia giving day and it was supposed to happen this coming wednesday. now it is postponed, last year the day raise to $29 million for the university. losing big donors could hurt university endowments which have swelled, total university endowments for all ivy league schools total more than $180 billion, up $80 billion from roughly 10 years ago. now as student demonstrations continue on college campuses across the country, and israeli american professor at columbia

i went outside, held an israeli flag peacefully in a designated area and a teaching assistant at the school came by and snatched the flag out of my hand, the nypd did a good job that day but it has been hard being on college campuses being jewish. ashley: we heard from some students, gideon, in the previous report say they don't feel safe on campus. do you feel that way? is security good enough? gideon:i feel okay but most students do not. some were crying, indifferent jewish events i had to walk with students to class because she was so nervous because people are actively calling for the globalization of the intifada, the call to kill jews everywhere and this is being supported by the university in some respects, you have professors canceling classes, telling students they should go

join these pro-palestinian rallies but they are not pro-palestinian because hamas is a terrorist organization that kills palestinians and puts them in the line of fire. ashley: exactly. are you surprised at the scale of the response to what happened in israel? the anti-is really forever especially on college campuses, does it surprise you? >> it doesn't surprise me, these college campuses across the country allow organizations like students for justice in palestine and palestinian student associations and other student groups that openly celebrate the murder of jews everywhere and call for more of that so you have those groups, 250 of them across college campuses. a group has found at chapter one of these groups on a college campus, there is a sevenfold increase in anti-semitic incidents on college campuses and it's clear from the university that these,
