12:01 pm
off the week. investors are buying into tech. the very sector that put the nasdaq and correction territory last week. stocks meanwhile seem unphased by the ramp-up of the war and gaza but concerns of the conflict could widen are escalating. at this very moment the saudi defense minister is at the pentagon meeting u.s. secretary defense lloyd austin talking about the very issue. thank you for joining us ladies and gentlemen, i am david asman and for neil cavuto today. the top story happening right now i high-stakes meeting at the pentagon, edward lawrence is in d.c. with the very latest. >> this is the highest-ranking saudi government official this year to visit washington, d.c. he's going to meet with senior biden administration officials that include the secretary of state and the defense secretary, it also includes a national security advisor, the official were talking about is the saudi
12:02 pm
defense minister, this is a prescheduled meeting from before the hamas attacks in israel but a u.s. official confirms to me the agenda is now different to cover that. over the weekend the saudis condemned the israeli offensive to root out hamas in gaza, funding for hamas comes from iran, the iranian foreign minister threaten the united nations last week and were seeing iran proxies attack u.s. positions. >> we set up our troops were attacked we would respond and we responded, if there attacked again we will respond again, we are vigilant because we are seeing elevated threats against our forces throughout the region and an elevated risk of this conflict spreading to other parts of the region. >> republicans believe that the president's policies allowed iran to sell more oil giving billions in revenue to fund the proxies like hamas, now republicans are concerned that 23 and radium proxy attacks on u.s. bases in syria and iraq,
12:03 pm
the u.s. only struck two targets related to the iranian proxies. >> there should be clear indicators that there are consequences to your words and actions and i remember when we attacked libya reagan never warned he just did it and he showed people he's not messing around. for two years when president biden came into office he tried to renegotiate to get back into the iran nuclear deal negotiated with iran the president recently has been reluctant to call out iran by name. he just as other countries or proxies that would like to attack the u.s. don't. back to you. david: many people find that concerning. fox news is learning a high level is really official in coordination with the united states met with qatari negotiators in an attempt to further talks to get more of the 239 hostages released, whatever get texas republican congressman pat fallon to talk about this in more. good to see you, thank you for
12:04 pm
being here, talk about the hostages in the second but the meeting with the saudi's is very interesting at least we have them for our bridges with the saudi's, a lot of people were worried that the initial stages of the biden administration we were doing that in the saudi's hate iran, do you think they're going to try to talk about it administration into re-imposing or reinforcing the sanctions that the biden administration has kind of released. >> i would like to convince the biden administration to re-up the sanctions against iran, they are the greatest yet largest funding state-sponsored terrorism. they funded and do it largely through the oil revenue which is exploited in the last couple of years under joe biden, he lived under the sanctions. it reminds me of what henry kinchen sure has said, the realpolitik is saudi arabia is an important player, are they imperfect, of course. it would behoove the united states and it's in our best
12:05 pm
interest to have saudi at least friendly to her interest as well. david: were just putting up the numbers, it is extraordinary how much more oil iran is producing, they were producing 200,000 barrels a day when biden came into office, now it's 3.3 million barrels a day, we put up the revenue that they're getting. 100 billion they were on their knees economically under the trump administration, now they are flush with all the petrodollars and of course i am wondering if they could've gone in or supported hamas going into israel if they didn't have that money. >> joe biden in his administration have shown incredible international relations in the geopolitics. iran is a theocracy in an authoritarian regime in response to strength and weakness and to have a smidgen of trust when
12:06 pm
they have not earned it is absurd, that's what joe biden and secretary blanket have done, that is why me and many others on the hill had been screaming and begging him to reimpose the sanctions and take the same track the president trump had done vis-à-vis iran. david: we have the negotiations through all kinds of third parties twin iran, hamas, qatari and u.s. officials to try to get back some of the hostages, particularly the americans being held hostage, how does israel serve the dual strategy of destroying hamas without killing the hostages. >> that is the trick and that's one of the reasons why hamas who is clearly an evil terroristic group who purposely kills civilians have decapitated infants and taken innocent civilians hostage, they are criminal, they are thugs israel
12:07 pm
and for that matter the united states have to walk a tight rope you don't want to negotiate with terrorist but you want to get hostages free, how do you do that you have to use a third-party and have the third-party explained to the evil group that is by far their best interest to release the hostages and by the way when they do it does not make them humanitarians, they started this in the first place and they dug this whole they should let the innocent people out and fight like men and not a bunch of cowards. david: alerting our viewers on what you're seeing on the left of the screen, flares above gaza as the israeli incursion into gaza continues. i want to bring it back home, you are from texas and you're very concerned about the border, so are a lot of americans when they see what's happening over there and they hear about iranians trying to cross the board are here, their perk enter particularly concerned about a new package that biden has where
12:08 pm
he includes his version of border security which many say doesn't have much to do about securing the border with our aid to israel, the newspeak of the house speaker johnson wants to have a standalone israeli package let me play a soundbite for him over the weekend. roll tape. >> there are lots of things going on around the world that we have to address and we will. right now what is happening in israel takes the immediate attention and i think we've got to separate that get it through, i believe there will be bipartisan support and i will push very hard for. >> you support and are there enough democrats to support a standalone package to israel instead of this other package that includes ukraine in the biden version of border sec security. as we look at what's happening over hamas right now, those are live pictures of the flares, go ahead with your answer. >> i am a big believer in single subject bills as are most americans. let's not convolute different
12:09 pm
varying issues, the republican party fully supports israel's right to exist and defend itself and i would hope the majority of democrats do as well should vote on a separate bill, the border is also its own unique issue as is ukraine and funding support for taiwan i fully support that, joe biden has made every state a border state in this country we had 169 people, on the terrorist watch list last fiscal year. david: are the democrats that would go a long with speaker johnson on this? >> i hope so, that's why i remember my old football game that's why you play the game and have a boat that's what will put on the floor and see. pat fallon, thank you for joining us. we appreciate it. pro-palestinian protests are popping up across the united states as israel begins a ground invasion into gaza. alexis mcadams has a very latest on the demonstration from new york right here. good to see you.

it's much more than that. >> it is very true it's sickening to see college students attempt to rationalize what hamas is doing to israeli civilians, hamas is kidnapping civilians, murdering, raping and college students are attempting to rationalize and some celebrate this on college campuses. this does not surprise me this is exactly what the left wants, they celebrate radical behavior on college campus and this is another example we see through the course curriculum and diversity, equity and inclusion, critical race theory, lgbtq we see the alphabet terms of the left being celebrated in course curriculum because that's what they're pushing on college students in the pro-palestinian, protest this is another example the craziness that the left is pushing on students because they want to indoctrinate the students with their ideas to bring them to the voting booth next election. david: places like columbia and harvard used to be the ivy

david: stocks bouncing back in a big way after last week's selloff as markets looked ahead to the rate decision on wednesday let's begin the market gurus francis stacy and david nicholas. asking you what is causing this rally, catching a falling knife, i'm wondering how many investors are doing that today.
12:21 pm
>> certainly you had a technical set up in the s&p 500 because you had free lower highs which is a technical breakdown and the higher for longer rate narrative coming out of the fed. you don't have any major credit events that are popping up all the uc slowing demand in the background that are going to force the fed's hand so they will keep the hawkish rhetoric because every acceleration and inflation and basically the market for the short short-term are oversold but we will see reevaluation as the demand continues to weigh in the academy. david: i don't want to weigh on anybody's parade but the inflation has not yet gone away and we had another sign of the wall street journal on worker productivity which is pretty far down right now and when productivity is down it means more inflationary pressures, it's going to be something that the fed is going to consider this week. >> i think the market has been bullish and leaning toward the

fed that they will pause rates but i think you're right, what if inflation continues to stick around i think we can be in a sandwich between long-term rates continuing to go up but the fed does not have an answer for what's going to happen on the inflation front. again you'll see rates that are well into 2024 without rate cuts critically to get rate cuts in 2024, the party is not good to be the same going into next year. there is an optimism of inflation we see some declines that help, energy coming down a little bit in price that helps with inflation but some of the areas like wages that are so sticky it will be a tough time for the fed to hit which would be tough to lower right away. david: while there was good economic news in terms of growth the gdp number was much larger than expected. it turns out the big ticket items, stuff that sticks around for a while, washing machines and motorcycles, air

12:24 pm
and it happens all but once we see the early signs and market participants we try to trade where the puck is going not where it is today. we will see every uptick and inflation because there lagging and most prices we saw earlier but at the end of the day the demand is waning in the big-ticket items are early signs. david: the other thing the fed has the notion only way to cure inflation is by having an economic slowdown. the gdp showed anything but that. i'm just wondering again is there a possibility that we may see 25 basis point raise of rates this week? >> i think that is almost all but off the table, for this week the market would not respond to that in the fed funds futures look like, i do think the fed is

the end they brought up a tweet from november 7 before spf collapse. ftx is fine it assets are fine. he argued on the stand he believed that to be true which is contrary to the prosecution assertion that he deceived customers he told jurors he believed ftx had no holes in its balance sheet and could cover all client holdings. if you go back to spf's twitter he deleted the tweet shortly after sending, one could argue he did not age well it could collapse or jury could wonder why did you delete something for dinner believed to be true, could he have been covering his tracks we will see how this plays out. david: thank you very much. a frightening scene in russia as a mob stormed the airport looking for jewish passengers from israel. how the russian government is responding to that. we will tell you more after the break. david: breaking now a kidnapped female is really soldier has been freed by ground forces in gaza. according to the idf, the soldier was medically checked, doing well, thank god and met with her family, retired army anthony joined me now. it is great news. but again it is come down from 239 hostages to 238 that is a lot of hostages and it leads to the obvious question israel's goal of getting hostages at the same time destroying hamas, how do you do that. >> this gives a good example of how you do it it seems they went

in there was special forces and they freed the soldier and it's going to be 3 yards and a cloud of dust hamas is using every dirty trick in the book their brutal savages and hiding under hospitals and using civilians as human shields and they want israel to pay an international public relation cost in the information board for coming in and freeing their people and anybody can support hamas. remember this a administration and equivocated at the beginning of this with a few state department tweets that everybody needs to stand down and everybody's a good guy, that kind of thing, this is a brutal war in israel needs to go when and continue to do with her doing. david: the question is about hezbollah, i'm wondering why hasn't iran and of course they control everything that hezbollah does why hasn't iran

all this hatred and created international insurgency that seems to bubble up all over the world. david: no matter what israel does they are the narrative that is out there and they're going to increase with all the videos of the massacre the brutal massacre that took place on october 7. it is just not good enough, all the lies right now are exceeding reality and that leads me to the other in the room which is iran haven't they achieved many of their objectives of putting the big target on israel's back once again and dismantling the abraham accord or any continuation of the cords? >> i think that's right they sense momentum and the weakness with the afghanistan debacle two plus years ago.

that r led to the russian movemt and discrimination between russia, china and iran that led to israel being attacked by hamas, all of this stems from a perception of reality of weakness from america's, strong america needs to be projected around the world and they see utter incompetence particularly in anthony blinken in the diplomatic corps that we've got, they can't even talk to anybody and everybody snubs them and jake sullivan, the national security advisor is ultra incompetent so with keystone cops right now. david: we have five seconds, did the strikes in syria do any good at all? general? david: i think we lost the general. more cavuto "coast to coast" right aftei ther this. that you and your family need.
