ashley: we asked which city has the oldest thanksgiving day parade. lauren: i said it was because the turkey trot is there. that was buffalo. i'm changing my answer to philadelphia. ashley: so was a high. my first instinct right away, philadelphia. we will go with philadelphia. the answer is we are so smart to. it is philadelphia. we love us. the first parade was held in the city over 100 years ago in 1920. send your friday feedback. we want your thoughts about the show this week. it is one of those topics.

that is it for "varney and company". coast to coast starts right now. kelly: new details about the hostage deal after 46 days of combat, israel and hamas striking a deal for four day pause in fighting and exchange for 50 israeli hostages and 150 palestinian prisoners being held in his real, far from a sure thing. welcome, i am edward lawrence from the nation's capital in for neil cavuto. the question, can you trust a terrorist group like hamas to adhere to a truce? does this positive hamas a chance to regroup? this war is far from over. to lucas tomlinson who's following with the president, the latest. >> reporter: when president biden arrived in nantucket, in exchange for palestinian

iraq, targeting an operations center in a command and control building controlled by hezbollah. here's how central command describe the airstrikes as a discrete precision strike against two facilities in iraq, the strikes were in direct response to attacks by iran, irani and backed groups, going back to the deal of gop lawmakers that there is intense pressure from the white house on benjamin netanyahu to get those hostages free. >> reporter: glad you are inside. it's a monsoon behind you. >> reporter: something is fit. edward: let's get reaction from former advisor to donald trump victoria coates. extremely glad 50 hostages will get out but it seems when the biden administration get involved what is given up is
12:04 pm
magnitudes greater than what we get, 50 hostages for one hundred 50 prisoners plus a four day cease-fire. what do you think of the deal? >> good to be with you. it is a double-edged sword. on the one hand we are all very happy 50 families are going to have their loved ones home over the jewish and christian holidays next month. we want them all home and this is an example how evil hamas is but we are giving up so much and i'm tired of these anonymous administration officials leaking get to the media that we put a lot of pressure on the netanyahu government, that's not what the world needs to here. even if it is going on. what they need to hear is unequivocal on the record statements from the united states that israel is our great and good ally. we stand unequivocally with israel and how moscow you are not going to wipe israel off
12:05 pm
the map because we won't let you. edward: i talked to general david petraeus about this, listen to what he told me about having a pause here. listen to this. >> the biggest issue here is that this will undoubtedly provide some days during which hamas can reorganize, rearm, requip, reposition and so forth. hamas has to be feeling on the ropes to a degree and when you are on the ropes you need a pause, a breather and that is what they are trying to achieve. >> he added a pause has to happen to get the hostages out but are you concerned about the length of this pause? >> exactly. hostages could come out in a matter of hours if hamas wanted to let them and what we should have done here is allow israel to press their advantage and the deal for hamas would be we will stop killing you when you let all the hostages out.
12:06 pm
i hope the government of qatar and egypt, both of which contributed to this negotiation are making it clear to hamas that any bad behavior on their part during the pause means this is the last pause and israel needs to finish this job, the united states should support them one hundred% in this. remembering how many americans were killed or held hostage, it is not just an israel problem so i think if we can get some international pressure not on israel but on hamas maybe this is okay but i agree with the general david petraeus, doesn't look good on the surface. edward: how do you get the rest of the hostages out, this deal if there's 10 more hostages released there will be another pause but how do you get the rest of them out? this could go on for months. >> that the other problem because you are not getting them all out, to set up a situation like this to happen
12:07 pm
again, you can do five days for 50 hostages, this could go on for 25 more pause days for hamas, that's the real downside here, the president says he won't stop until he gets all of them out. does that mean he's going to keep pressuring the netanyahu government until he gets what he wants? edward: we will probably hear that the hostages been released, some separated from loved ones, they are still with the hamas terrorists so we probably won't get the full story from the ones being released about how they are being treated about what happened. isn't that right? >> yes, we had that with the previous couple hostages that came out who said they had been given medical treatment and been treated well for want of a better word but if your husband is being held by hamas you won't tell the truth about what hamas did.
12:08 pm
so this is another public relations victory for hamas that they look reasonable on the world stage. edward: it is hamas surprise how efficiently the israelis have cleared the northern part of the city? >> that's the good news story. the israelis are taking this extremely seriously. they have what they need from the department of defense so far. i think we need to get that $14 billion of additional supplemental assistance for israel through congress and signed by the president as quickly as possible to make that commitment on the part of the us clear that we are going to make sure israel has what they need to finish this job and the administration which has a problem with its own state department which is heavily biased toward the palestinians they should get out of this, this is a war fighting exercise, not a diplomatic exercise, let israel finish it.
12:09 pm
edward: yesterday the attack by irani and proxies was of short range ballistic missile, that in itself tells you about how iran is funding its proxies, this was an attack against us troops. the fact that it was a short range ballistic missile is an escalation of a device, doesn't it tell you how they are funded and what types of weapons they are getting? >> very. the administration is so concerned about escalation, they call their most recent strike discrete but the houthi firing off ballistic missiles and hezbollah firing up a list of missiles, these don't grow on trees in the region. they are being provided by the irani and so are training them to use them and the uranian's are responsible for this. you can't just give them plausible deniability for these terrorist proxies.
