been charged with. the loan court also agreed he shouldn't be on the ballot except they didn't think, i should say they agreed he engaged in an insurrection but didn't think it applied to a president. what is worrisome is two things. there are a lot of states where this is under consideration, michigan, wisconsin, michigan decided against it but it is being appealed in wisconsin and others. if by any happenstance the supreme court allows this to go forward we are talking massive election interference, undermining democracy and away most americans could never imagine happening. it is awful, honestly the other thing is people are so angry anyway right now -- david: this may improve the polling for donald trump. liz: every time they do something like this is pulling goes up. david: there is a group

president, only the dow is in the negative, both the s&p and the nasdaq are positive. here is what austan goolsbee, the chicago fed president, says about the recent market crowd. >> we had this euphoria that broke out in the stock market when they perceived that the fed was deciding it was going to be loser. maybe they got a little ahead of themselves. you don't decide things in the future. if inflation comes down to target, than the fed can reconsider how restrictive it wants to be, but inflation turns around and starts going back up it feels like people might have gotten too ahead of themselves. david: i was interested to hear from a lifelong democrat, one would think he would want to put -- pump up biden but was being true to the principles of

the fed but has the market gotten ahead of itself as austin says? >> it has. they are trying to backtrack the words but they should've thought of that before chairman powell was in a dovish press conference anyone could ask for. it's out of their hands because the market has taken over. the bottom line is with rates plummeting the way they have, that is bullish for asset prices. the problem going into next year it is this bullishness continues with rates staying low because of what the fed dinner last press conference, they have arthur burns issue because that's very inflationary. we did an acceleration of inflation in the back half of next year and the fed goes from having some cuts to raising rates. markets are not ready for that. they should have thought of that and positioned themselves better versus getting the

market, wasn't a signal, they told us they were going to be more dovish. david: why do you think the fed did such a quick 180 turnaround. >> reporter: we have been questioning that and there's only two reasons to do a complete one hundred 80 after saying the complete opposite and that is either the economy, the data they are looking at comes extremely fast and they are very worried they've over titans and we have a recession in the near term, politically driven. that's why you would go from saying we are not even considering rate cuts, giving implication they see of three rate cuts. they pigeonholed themselves into a position, and. >> that the number one reason,

david: checking the markets, the dow was down 30 points. it was down over a hundred points. the market open and the s&p and nasdaq are in the green. basically the market is turning around a little bit. not a lot but two of three indexes are in the green. texas congressman dan crenshaw pushing they i on students. lauren: he proposed a bill to cancel federal funding to colleges that for students to sign on to they i -- they i -- promote differences in differential treatments, oppressed versus opera servlet he represents texas. in texas they have a new law that goes into effect in january that says the state funded fools the best schools must dismantle their dei

offices. 40 bills have been introduced in 22 states since july to limit diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. david: let's bring in the governor of oklahoma, thanks for being here. you just signed an executive order banning the use of state funds and resources going to department the grant preferential treatment based on, quote, race, color, sex, ethnicity, national origin and mandatory training on race or sexual orientation. it sound like it took a page out of doctor king's work, judging the content of character rather than skin color. why are people upset about that? >> it is a no-brainer to us in oklahoma. i believe people in oklahoma, people in america are tired of talking about stuff that divides us. that's all i said.

we will follow the law, the supreme court said you can't have college admissions based on race. it is merit-based. i further said in our executor border we will focus on low income neighborhoods and students, first-generation college students, don't make it based on race. that's all we are saying. i have no idea why people are getting so frustrated. we need to teach kids that the american dream is alive and well and there is no such thing as equal outcomes. we want equal opportunities for everybody regardless of race. oklahoma is leading and we will continue to push getting out of state agencies and higher education. david: i am sure the dei crowd is trying to reverse the decision. how are they doing that? >> of course you will have lawsuits and people writing op-eds and trying to call, we are moving backwards, being racist. it's further from the truth.

we are basically saying we are taking race out of college admissions whether you're african-american, asian or hispanic or american indian or caucasian. this is merit-based. we want to teach kids that we want them, the very best and brightest but it won't be easy, you want to win in life and it shouldn't be based on your race. that's all we are saying plus the supreme court has decided on this, we will follow laws in our state. david: another way of going against some conventional wisdom although the convention is changing as we speak but pushing the school choice bill, you signed one that takes effect next month. how is it going to work? >> one of the best in the country. every parent regardless of income now has the ability to take their kid to a school of choice. they got $7500 refundable tax credit so they will get money go to a private school, charter school, school of their choice

because school choice should not just be for the rich but for everybody. some of the single moms i talk to and single dads who don't have a lot of resources, if their kid is stuck in a failing school district they have no options that are begging me we should be able to have other options if our son or daughter is in a bad crowd or have low test scores. we are injecting competition into our education system. i've put more money in public education than any governor before me. we are investing in education but we believe when we do that we have to have more choice, more options and that is good for everybody. everybody wins. david: one of the great things about our constitutional republic is each state acts as a petri dish for various policies so we are all going to be watching your experiment in oklahoma. very interesting to see how it turns out. thank you for being here. happy holidays to you.

david: a new study found children of conservative parents they have better mental health. lauren: i don't like commenting on other people's parenting skills. i will tell you the results of some research coming out of brookings and gallup. there is a 22 point gap between mental health bonus, teams raised by conservatives versus those raised by the rules, 70% teenagers from right-wing parents have good or excellent mental health. the thinking is conservative families likely disciplined more, they stay married versus those rates by libertarians. i don't comment on other people's parenting skills. david: that is cause for trouble. lauren: an incident that happened with one of my

children, i know my parents came in, they made me aware of where i worked and their child had done something i never would have allowed. david: very good. we are interested in those examples. thank you very much. growing number of student loan borrowers defaulting on their payments. kelly, just how many borrowers are defaulting despite a three year pause? >> reporter: 9 million of the 22 million student loan borrowers did not make their payment, 40%, the white house introducing a 1-year program to help those in debt by changing the way disaffected. it is reported to the big three credit companies after 90 days, the part of education announcing through september 30th of next year, any missed payments were not reported as delicacies, but interest will continue to accrue on those loans. codecs of the student loan

bailout say taking out a loan and not paying it back is unfair. >> this is so unfair it touches on being un-american because your responsibility as an individual when you take on debt to get a college degree, you are investing in your self, you know with certainty you have to pay it back it makes you be a more responsible person when you think that way. forgiving debt is such horrific idea. lauren: one third of those surveyed do not expect to pay their student loans off by the time they reach retirement. brian: vice president harris dishing out a word salad on msnbc. >> reporter: people of every age and gender who see something about -- they don't

david: you can't keep investors down these days. the dow is down 31 points. the s&p and the nasdaq trading up. they all started the day down. come on in the. you are looking at some other movers. let's start with marathon digital. lauren: bitcoin went up 34,000 at one point. marathon digital, one of the crypto names. in this case more than 7%. david: caterpillar, how are they doing? lauren: the dow stock is 1%. pushing $300 a share. it could close at an all-time high.

as for the nasdaq, 27 point turnaround and they could do it again. neil: they are done being patient. stock is almost 2%. we exercise patients with pandemic winners but many, like zoom are still struggling. david: the biggest liability for president biden in 2,024 could be his own family. peter doocy joining me. not all the evidence may be in but have voters made up their minds whether the president was involved in his family's business dealings? >> president biden has all the problems. he has plans later on today to double down on economic policy in front of a crowd, in battleground wisconsin. >> he will talk about bidenomics and how small business is a pillar.

voters who don't like he didn't keep his campaign promises whether getting rid of the filibuster, codifying roe versus wade and how he has handled the war is in israel, so that's a problem. they are reluctant to vote in 2,020, they preferred elizabeth warren or bernie sanders, didn't like donald trump. it is a flattening effect, those people don't come out and vote, this is a group he won by 20 points and you are talking about losing to donald trump by 14. the second thing is voters, generally young voters are dissatisfied with the economy and financial status. david: they want to buy a house, they can to do either one of them. >> when you're 28 and bringing a girl over for dinner, not a great situation. you are talking about the economy, inflation, their financial status is tough, young people are more credit card debt than ever. in terms of retirement, they

have less saved for medical bills, car repair, those types of things. you are seeing a political realignment, young voters coming back because of the dissatisfaction of the economy, they like how he handled the economy, inflation -- david: let me stop you. you're making a jump. the fact that they are against biden doesn't necessarily mean they are pro-trump especially on issues like you mentioned on the middle east. >> not all of them but 13 point lead, there are young voters, more liberal voters might not vote, that's a problem for biden. 20 points in 2,020, went for president biden, not 13 points for donald trump. so with your average voter wanting to purchase a first home or save for retirement, those things, start a family which is very important, they are dissatisfied with biden. david: you used to work for senator grassley. he has done more than any republican in the senate to

focus on the bidens's personal problems whether the president was involved with his son stealing, he has extraordinary information. of that of interest young voters? >> to make sense. young voters are genuinely prone to think the government is not working for them so when you see a sense of corruption, the president could be compromised, he was potentially involved in a bribery scheme, family matters getting millions of dollars from russia and ukraine, handling that portfolio is obviously something young voters do not like. david: are they more cynical than their parents or grandparents? do they think this is just politics? or are they trying to change? >> it is a case-by-case basis. every voter is different but certainly it is a compounding issue. talking about the economy, inflation, foreign policy and personal corruption with

david: dow jones industrial average is dying to make it into the green. the s&p and the nasdaq are in the green. dow is down 18 points starting over 100. meanwhile the co-chair of biden's reelection campaign is admitting she is worried how the border could affect him in 2,024. what else does she say? lauren: veronica escobar, democrat from texas argues congress, not president biden, is to blame for the migrant crisis. she said it is our job, we have failed over and over again but i do worry democrats will get blamed simply because the

president is in the white house. she was then pressed whether she fears biden will place political consequences and she said i hope not but i am afraid of that. we've seen the polling, the border rise to the top of what we are worried about as long as the economy, we saw 12,600 migrants crossed the border in one day on monday. david: we saw policy changes as soon as the biden administration came into office. thank you very much. the clock is ticking for 3700 migrant families to find shelter after they were given 60 day notices to vacate their shelters. madison alworth is live outside the row hotel. how many families are being asked to leave? >> reporter: we were able to talk to 8 families outside a hotel that is filled with migrants. every family we spoke to received the 60 day notice,

informing us they would have to leave the hotel. none of the migrant spoke english. all are very nervous about being kicked out when it is so cold and figure out what to do next. >> got a notice to leave. she saying she does not know. the migrants received 60-day notices requiring them to leave. some will go to other cities, asylum seekers reapply for shelter in new york city because it is is right to shelter city, but the big apple is hoping people will just choose to leave even offering three, 1-way flights to anywhere in the country. so far, over 19,000 migrants have taken those flights. the majority are being flown to illinois, with new york state coming in a close second. mayor eric adams is also demanding all migrant shelter landlords cut their costs of operation or risk city funded leases being torn up. also calling on new yorkers to flood the streets of dc to protest the cost of the migrant crisis. that cost is a big concern. the city comptroller saying by
