generations to get a nomination without her party's primary voters. no policy positions on her web site, zero. now even democrats warn kamala harris, he's got to start talking to the media. it's been radio silence for nearly two weeks. but first, to the worst day for stocks in four years. since pandemic shutdowns. a worldwide selloff starting here and into overseas markets. trillions of market value wiped out as wall street warns the u.s. is heading into a recession possibly. we got a surprisingly weak u.s. jobs report for july, just 114,000 jobs. that pushed the nasdaq into a correction. let's welcome to the show former presidential candidate, the former governor of arkansas, mike huckabee. governor, great to have you on again. sir, you've run for office. the timing of this, a possible recession hitting the 2024 race,

do you trust kamala harris to handle the presidency, the handle a recession? >> i don't trust her to handle a press conference, which she hasn't done in 12 days. this is a person who's going to have to run on a record that she helped create called bidenomics. it's really working out great for the american people. every cost they have has gone up so dramatically that people are trying to take turns having dinner at the family table. and getting a tank of gas requires selling a kidney. bidenomics is a failure, and all we need to do is forget about her origin or ethnicity. all that stuff is nonsense. what we need to talk about is the policy, not the personalities, not the party. we need to talk about policy. that's what americans care about was that's what's hitting them right in the gut. elizabeth: yeah, there are zero policy positions on her campaign web site. you know, by the way, your point's well taken, governor, because we looked at the map. it's something like 300 million

people are either in the middle class or working class. they're feeling like they are in a recession. we got wall street pros like top economist mohamed el-erian, also the ft, politico, they're warning the u.s. is likely heading into a downturn. so does kamala harris own this downturn if we're heading into a recession, because she's now trying to blame trump when he has not been in office for four years. >> yeah, that's got to be one of the craziest things. it's almost like blaming an air a crash today on the hindenburg disaster. this is insane. how anybody would take her seriously when she tries the blame donald trump for the current economy when he hasn't been in office in almost four years. i mean, my gosh, that's giving him a lot of credit for power i bet he didn't even know he had. [laughter] elizabeth: interesting. yes, he's got interesting power that he can affect the economy four years later without making

policy. let's talk about this, you know, we checked her speeches, her campaign ads. kamala harris is not campaigning on bidenomics, she's not campaigning on the economy. she's avoiding any campaign ads with her and joe biden. you know, all those biden rules and and taxation threats and regulations, a smothering pillow of mandates really hanging up the u.s. governor, just sit tight. i've got to go through the numbers for the viewer. may and june numbers revised down by 29,000. that's the 6 19th straight month of the -- 16th straight month of of numbers getting revised down. more than a million less jobs than initially reported. the thing is, governor, jobs are a lagging indicator meaning they're the last thing to turn south when the economy is doing badly. and the ism, the manufacturing index, it contracted to the lowest level in four years. >> well, but let's keep in mind what you just previewed there was the fact that when jobs are going down, it's also an indication that even if you have

a job, your job isn't paying you enough to keep up with the inflation that bidenomics has brought you. overall, over the past four years we're talking about 20%. so even if you got a pay increase of let's just go real crazy, not 5 percent which is really more generous than most americans have seen, but let's say you had a 10% pay increase over this period of time. you've ross 10% of your income -- lost 10% of your income. that's where most americans are, especially working class americans. and that's why they can't afford to buy a big mac at mcdonald's or fill up their grocery cart x. if they don't understand that this is the result of policies of bidenomics, they'll end up voting for kamala harris, and they'll get it even worse in the next four years. elizabeth: you know what it is too, governor? and you've been in office. i mean, it's the constant downbeat, negative drum beat of negativity out of the biden white house. it started in 2008 out of the

obama white house. that only the government can fix everything. you just sit back, we're going to fix everything. you, because you, america, you can't fix it. so let's listen to top wall street investor, the founder of key square group, scott bess ant. we've got sound, let's get your reaction to this. >> she was joe biden's co-pilot in the inflation plane, and they crashed the american economy into the side of the mountain. vice president harris was the deciding vote for the american rescue plan and the inflation reduction act. >> yes, that's right. >> so she owns it. they would not have passed. it was 50-50, she broke the tie. >> yeah, she did. >> those caused the great inflation. she was the border czar, the inflation. i've talked about a interest rates, inflation and immigration are the things killing working class america. tell me which one of those she doesn't own. elizabeth: so let me back up. economists in democrat

administrations like steve rattner, jason furman, larry summers, they all say the spending has been the original sin behind inflation. look at the "wall street journal" poll. 522 say trump is best able to handle the economy -- 52%. and voters in key swing states say, yes, the economy is their top issue. what do you say to all this? >> well, if they're really serious about the economy being the top issue,s heavy got one choice, and it's donald trump. if they vote for kamala harris, they are not voting for their own economy, much less the u.s. economy. they're voting for increased inflation, higher jobless rates, high interest rates. we're not going to have the kind of economic turn around we need. we've seen that. donald trump was president for four years, and if it weren't for covid, he'd have the best economic record of any president in history. he deregulated all of the harsh things that were killing business, brought manufacturing back, cut taxes. that put money in the pockets ifs of people. and and it also lowered prices. because when businesses aren't

beyond -- on behalf of every american no matter what side of the aisle you sit on, every american we lost on 9/11, september 11th, 2001, we lost 3,000 americans on our own soil and a 20-year war where i lost 15 friends. my son served in afghanistan as well. just 202 years of doing this -- 20 years of doing this, and it all came at the cost of this mastermind. and to think that he would get a plea deal, it's just insane that it would be on the table. i don't even know what it is. by the way, i think every american deserves to know whats, i think the families of the 9/11 victims need to to know what the plea deal is. whatever it is, it's not justice. elizabeth: yeah, we don't know the details either. so is the biden white house botching it like the exit out of afghanistan where 13 u.s. troops were murdered? we know house oversight is launching an investigation into president biden over the plea

deal. they're claiming they had nothinged to do with this, but they're also saying that biden wants to shut guantanamo before he gets out of office. so is that all a factor in here? how do you see? >> everything president biden has a touched since he's been in office has been a disaster. including the afghanistan withdrawal. i mean, the afghanistan withdrawal should have never happened. we should have declared the war on terror over and a victory on the war on terror, but to remove our troops, 250 00 -- 25000 troops made the world a more dangerous place and left 440 million afghans in severe distress. 20 million afghan women and little girls being sexually enslaved, and his administration has given $50-80 million a week to taliban to train for the next terror attack on us. this is just an exclamation point showing where his loyalty lies; not to the american people, but to our enemies around the world, enemies like

elizabeth: welcome back. the secret service held a press conference today to update the public on the investigation into security failures in the attempted assassination of former president trump. fox news' david spunt live in d.c., he's been breaking all the story it is on this. we've got to get to david, he's terrific on this. david, what's going on now? >> reporter: hey, liz. ron rowe opened the press conference with this. watch here. >> the bottom line is this, david, this was a secret service failure. that roofline should have been covered. we should have had better eyes on. that. >> reporter: so we asked him directly about this video obtained by fox news. you see who appears to be the suspect running back and forth on the roofline. this was taken by james copenhaver, one of the the actual victims that was shot

and, luckily, survived. this fares on july 13th. -- this was on july 139. it was almost three minutes from the moment the former president was shot to the to when -- from when you see the man running around to when the former president was shot. and here's the director reacting to this piece of video. >> this was, this was a failure. we should have had better protection for the protectee, we should have had better coverage on that roofline. we should have had at least some other set of eyes from the secret service point of view covering that. that building was very close to that outer perimeter, and we should have had more of a presence. >> reporter: the secret service 40 morale is at a low point now. we've talked to several people in the agency, and they confirm this fact. one longtime agent characterized their blunt views, they said they're calling the managers, quote, the kings of cover-up. this person says the three kingt failed us in butler were lack of communication, which is a leadership issue, lack of personnel, which is a leadership issue, and lack of use of

technology which is also a leadership issue. this person went on to say we are horrible at retention and horrible at hiring, and the people that need to be fired are the people in leadership. this is a longtime secret service employee. director rowe said if people are fired or suspended, liz, he will make that public as soon as he could, but it's -- as soon as he can, but it's too early. the secret service investigation is a disciplinary internal review, but the fbi is conducting a criminal investigation and doing interview is thes for their criminal probe, and it's a much more serious investigation. and that was not part of today's press conference. elizabeth: great journalism, thank you so much for that update. that was terrific. >> reporter: thank you. elizabeth: okay, this news is also a coming in. senator josh hawley dropped a bombshell letter thursday afternoon that he sent to the secret service interim chief alleging that a whistleblower is claiming secret service rowe personally ordered cuts in funding to secret service agents responsible for threat assessments at events.

that was dialed back. joining me now from house judiciary, congressman jeff van drew. you know, what do you make of all? because he didn't get a straight answer today about the cuts in resources. what do you think? >> what i think is there's a real problem at the top not only with the secret service, but what they're trying to do to the military, what they're trying to do to the fbi. when we had the fbi director before our committee in judiciary, i asked him if they're more worried about using the proper pronouns and all kinds of woke philosophy and quotas. remember, the director who just left the secret service was a good friend of jill biden, and they had the philosophy that they had to have a 30% quota. i'm not even sure what the quota was on, but let me tell you the deal, you have to have the fastest, smartest, most focused, best individuals whether it's our military, our secret service or our fbi. right from the beginning the political philosophy if of the people in charge now is wrong,

and it's hurting us. elizabeth: you know, congressman, senator hawley says the whistleblower also alleges that the secret service countersurveillance division did not do a threat assessment of the butler rally site, that they were -- they were not there that day. that if they were, they would have handcuffed the attempted assassin when they saw him with a range finder, but none of that happened. you know, people are asking, you know, seven presidents since william mckinley have been shot at, two assassinated, mckinley and jfk. and and now trump was shot. so what does it take to protect president trump at a time when iran is putting death threats against allegedly him and members of his former cabinet? if. >> look, it requires an overhaul. i i mean, there's no magic here. it's a very tough job, and so many of the agents are brave individual, men and women who

put their life on the line. but the real deal here is that there's a problem in communication, there's a problem in technology, there's a problem in following a standing order -- the order of procedure, the way you're supposed to go here, sops. and what the deal is also that should have never happened, they did a much better job in the wildwood rally. and the reason i know that is in wildwood, new jersey, we had a rally, the biggest one trump ever had just recently in the spring, 102,000 people. we had secret service agents that were out in boats on the beach, they were on the rides, that iconic picture of the ride behind them. they were actually working with multiple local jurisdictions and police forces, working with sheriff's departments. they were ready to go, and this was much, much different, what happened here. elizabeth: yeah, i mean, yes, you're right, we hear you loud and clear. the secret service is known and admired for the strong work they do for america. it's just what we're hearing is

plane that the prisoners freed from russia had just arrived on. now the white house is saying the president went onboard to thank the airplane crew members. let's bring in fox news contributor liz peek, great author and columnist. liz, what do you make of this? do you think this was another baden gaffe, or do you believe the us white house here -- biden gaffe, or that he was just going to talk to the crew? >> i honestly don't think joe biden knew where he was going. my guess is he looked at a plane, saw the stairs, thought the it was air force one and sort of made a beeline over there. you know, elizabeth, we don't know what kind of shape joe biden is in because we're seeing very little of him, certainly very little that's unscripted. and this really does raise this question not only should he have stepped out of the race, he probably should have stepped out of the presidency because we have five, six months left and a man who doesn't seem to know what's going on running this country. it's ton believable to me --

it's unbelievable to me. elizabeth: and still no policy positions on kamala harris' web site. just a bio, a request for donations. the hill is reporting democrats are warning vice president harris you've got to stop hiding from the press, stop doing the biden basement strategy. talk to the press. so is this going to backfire on her? >> well, i hope so. i hope voters demand more than they did in 2020 to the when they did allow joe biden to hide in his basement and never really talk to them. look -- and here is the problem, we don't know who this person is. i mean, is she the person who wants to ban fracking, have gun confiscation, is in favor of allowing felons to vote, reparations, all these very controversial positions that she took in 2019, medicare for all, green new deal, etc., or is she the kamala harris that now the media is trying to clean up and present as another moderate democrat just like they lied about joe biden being a moderate

democrat? now they want us to the believe that everything that she said four years ago was kind of a just a big goof. well, guess what? that's not going to work, i don't think. if she has a single decent interview, she's going to be asked about some of these flip-flops -- elizabeth: right. >> and, liz, here's what's important about this. she's -- hillary clinton was basically done in by being inauthentic. that's what kamala harris is. she's not authentic. she stands for nothing. and i think people are going to see that when she sits down with an interviewer. elizabeth: it's important, what you just said. president trump's running mate, j.d. vance, pushed back on a cnn reporter asking him about what president trump had said about a race at the black journal its' association event -- journalists' association event. there was a lot of pushback against president trump about that. watch j.d. vance here. >> and then all of a sudden she made a turn and she went, she became a black person -- >> just to be clear. >> as a father of three biracial

children, do those comments give you pause at all? >> look, all he said is that kamala harris is a chameleon. she goes to georgia two days ago. she was raised in canada, she puts on a fake southern accent. she pretends to be somebody different depending on which audience she's in front of. i think it's totally reasonable for the president to call that out, and and that's all he did. she's running as a tough on crime prosecutor even though she implemented open borders. she wanted to defund the police just three years ago. elizabeth what do you think, liz? you've got ten seconds. >> i think j.d. vance is completely wrong. she doesn't know where she stands, and people are going to figure that out. elizabeth: liz peek, always terrific. thank you so much. now we've got breaking news, we've got reports that the mayor of philadelphia posted this video on twitter. watch. >> kamala harris for president and josh schaap. row -- >> josh shapiro -- >> josh shapiro for vice

president. elizabeth: okay. the video's far from clear whether the mayor was simply promoting pennsylvania governor shapiro to be running mate or accidentally scooping kamala harris' big announcement next week. the "philadelphia inquirer" talked to the source close to the mayor, they said it's not an announcement of anything. but let's bring in seattle radio host and author of "what's killing america," jason rantz. jason, great to have you on. so kamala harris is holding a rally in philadelphia. do you think it's going to be shapiro? >> i do think it's going to be shapiro, and i am wondering whether or not this was a strategic release just to gauge how some members of the progressive base are going to respond. i think it's very clear and unfortunate we have the say this, but the democrats have an anti-semitism problem. and you're looking at rust welt states, specifically really at michigan, and wondering whether or not this is going to anger a large number of votes or at least a large enough number of voters to convince them either

to not vote or vote for a third party because of the fact that josh shapiro is jewish and a supporter of israel. and i think right now in total fairness i don't think we can accurately say where kamala harris is going to ultimately fall on this because she is the chameleon who kind of changes things around. and i'm just kind of wondering if they're saying to themselves why don't we just float this out there, the possibility of the likelihood, and see what the response is. because, obviously, going into this it seemed to be between him and mark kelly. big labor was not a pan of mark kelly, and they're now trying the see what find -- kind of mess they might be walking into. elizabeth: yeah, people not a fan of -- workers in pennsylvania upwith set about possibly losing their jobs if kamala harris follows through on what she has said to to ban fracking inside u.s. states. she's now saying she's not going to do that. watch president trump here on how he says he'll unleash u.s. energy if he's reelected.
