down looking at the presidential debate in philadelphia, the economy expected to be a hot topic. welcome to cavuto coast-to-coast. to the market, movers with our panelist, mitch rishel and former omb chief economist vance gibb. there's a haze clouding vp harris's policy. what are you looking for that she says the economy and markets if elected? >> we heard a lot over the last couple weeks especially through tweets and other things, she hasn't done many interviews. to raise taxes substantially especially for investment and

entrepreneurs who would grow the economy, 28%, basically make us less competitive, we need less government spending, lower taxes and less regulation which she will be saying the opposite, she wants more of the same leading to someone do really well but many not doing well. we are going to hear more of that tonight. lauren: she claims to be a centrist even though she's not perform centrist proposals, despite her claims to be a centrist, her policies include price controls, are those centrist economic positions? >> a tie-breaking vote on how many trillions in government spending we didn't need to. that's not centrist either. i think what you will hear from

issues, free-trade agreements with our allies in allowing more trade with other countries would be a step in the right direction along with reducing the corporate income tax rate to 15%. kamala harris wanting to raise 20%, the highest, lowered to 15%, that would help us be more competitive. david: what he is suggesting is interesting. he would keep the corporate rate at 21% but if you buy american you get it lowered to 15%. it is a bonus thing. might that not cause confusion with the way corporations figure out what they are going to do? >> it is across the playing field, that would be easier, it's a complicated tax system. i hope we hear more about government spending, that's the

driver of deficits and debt. hopefully we will hear more from trump and harris. it is unlikely but i hope they will. david: we have two important numbers, the cpi, and producer price index on thursday. what are you watching for specifically on those prints. >> shelter cost, i will be looking to see if shelter costs have come down meaning there is more breathing room for the consumer. consumer prices, producer prices remain high is a leading indicator, to be easy anytime soon.

an economy that is on shaky ground to. you are right that housing market is jobs dependent. i said to you on this network 15 years ago that location location location is not as important as jobs jobs jobs. david: i remember that very well. are we going into a recession? will the next president no matter who it is be dealing with a recessionary economy? >> there are things that look like a recession with revisions of job creation, 100,000 and if you look at other factors we see that. the headline inflation number, a high likelihood the fed will cut interest rates next week which would be a bad indication of future inflation. in the 70s they cut too soon, we had rapid inflation after that so let's make sure we see the headline as well. david: you go over a couple minutes.

billions in back taxes after years of battles in the courtroom, hours after the tech giant unveiled a new line of products to revitalize its lineup. >> reporter: this marks of the end of a tenure battle when the top court in the eu ruled against apple. the tech giant was accused of striking and illegal tax bill with a business friendly country. the decision requires apple to pay 13 billion taxes, and the iphone maker, a 1-time income tax charge of the fourth quarter of this year. the european antitrust commissioner posted this on x, a huge win for european citizens and tax justice in its final judgment the eu court confirms the decision that ireland granted a legal aid to apple. the company fired back that we always pay all taxes we owe wherever we operate and there's

never been a special deal to retroactively, international tax law, subject to taxes in the us. apple raked in $97 million in profit for 2023. a 1-time charge of $10 billion accounts for 10% of the company's yearly net income. it's sizable but not detrimental. this is not the only fight for apple in europe or the only tax giant among text giants. the continued conflict between us tech companies and the eu and europe has taken a harder line when it comes to everything from taxation to antitrust. these regulators at least in europe have tightened. david: global investment chief market strategist, great to see you. apple has taken it on the chin.

this decision is a big one compared to tens of billions they make. this is an accounting error but add to that the fact their new apple iphone 16, underwhelming people who were afraid of ai getting in the mix of their iphone. would you buy apple at this point? >> reporter: if you don't hold apple, dip your toe and to build a position. we are underweight apple versus the index. we want exposure to apple, it is not really a name we think people go in and trade frequently. it is one of those that you buy and put aside and let it go but we know that these mag 7 names after being one of those have come back from the run that they had been on so it could be

an opportunity to go in. look at the iphone, 36% of apple's revenue, this could be a strong cycle for a lot of people. 3 million phones have not been upgraded in the last four years. we will see if the items they brought out yesterday will be enough to make him switch. david: i've had mine for more than four years. i'm still a little skeptical. i don't think the 16 is the one i have been waiting for a. oracle is a different side of the story. a big jump, making profit progress if i could refer to that term. a lot of it was unexpected, a new partnership with aws. is oracle a stock you are looking at seriously? they are up 12.5% right now. >> we have exposure to oracle. if you look at other players in the ai space everyone focuses

on nvidia. oracle is one of those. qualcomm would be another. oracle talked about the fact that ai startups are meeting cloud computing space that really was the factor behind increase in revenue, gpu and graphic processors all these ai companies need and the cloud space. we will continue to benefit from this ai push. it is a place you could look to have some exposure if you don't want to add to the names like nvidia. david: are you going to do any post election reshuffling of portfolio or other people, very different economic policies from these candidates. david: you want to see if there is gridlock, is there is a sweep, it is a wait and see for now tonight.

opposition to the incumbent government, only when x said we won't do this in secret did they take these punitive actions. looking at the underlying judicial decision, both son aro administration, and leave the impression that any market access in the last not as good but the broader business level concerns about doing business, brazil is really putting itself in the conversation with other authoritarian nations whether is north korea, russia, like bill ackman pointed out. david: when he was running up 35 years ago in brazil, he is a marxist who believes in the policy but sort of managed to

what did you learn? get at that. if she fumbles at that and maybe obviously maybe it is less him than the questioners. if they ask legitimate questions it will be hard for her to rationalize this. david: great to see you. investors may be expecting trump back in the white house but some of his allies think he needs to focus on the issues in order to get there. how lambert joins us now. first of all, money is a big part of what you do, switch from desantis to trump. if trump does well tonight, does he begin to pool in hundreds of millions of dollars the kamala harris has since her convention? >> you have to be rich these days to be a democrat. he's got a lot of money and will get more money.

you will see him break away in his polling numbers. the new york times paul was telling, 63% of americans want change and kamala harris will try to position herself as the change candidate even though she's the incumbent. she will try to position herself as all these policies she will bring forward. she's been there 3 and a half years. it hasn't happened. she will try to attack trump personally and i think that will be the difference, trump will stick to the policies i predict and if there's a lot to work with on kamala harris, there's plenty to go after as you talked about, flip-flops on so many issues at the last minute, trying to pretend she's not the radical that she is. at the end of the day this will come down to the fact we had massive amounts of inflation the cumulative inflation has been terrible, the average american is poor than they were 3 and a half years ago. this is the $20 hamburger administration and people are not going to to forget that.

a background as an administrator is hard to make a promise when it is one that you have broken. >> interesting to see how hard they pushback on those flip-flops. she never worked in the private sector. most of the administration have never worked in the private sector ever. they are all bureaucrats. her initial thing was price control. they were going to control the price of bananas in the grocery store. this is not serious policy and it's going to catch up with her. she doesn't understand the economic policies she's trying to present, she doesn't understand it. she has talking points from the left and that is what she has run on her entire career and trying to move away from the same things she said. the american people will see through. david: i want to talk markets because you are market guide.

if the markets and the economy in general go downhill for the next couple weeks, how is that going to affect your run for the presidency? >> it will hurt. if markets continue to slide that will be a problem, the fed is going to cut rates as we know but historically when the fed cuts rates that doesn't make the market go up immediately. usually they cut rates because of a slowdown in hiring and jobs and that kind of thing. between now and the election early voting starts in a month. we have a lot of states voting in one month and i think tonight will be important. trump, this is the seventh presidential debate, her first, he has an advantage there. david: terrific to see you, thank you for being here. we have more cavuto coast-to-coast right after this. ♪

when you're in the military you're really close with your brothers and your sisters that are in the military with you. and when you get out of the military, you kind of lose that until you find a new family. we can talk about our struggles and the things that we did overseas and not everybody can do that. adam! how's it going, brother? we live pretty close to each other. so he's always coming over. when i go to jack's house, we watch a lot of football, hang out. we go outside the friendship has kind of grown into a family i was overseas on a deployment. i got separated from my marines and i got hit in the neck,

and it broke my neck and paralyzed me. 14 years ago, i was on a training mission. did a military freefall, and i had some faulty equipment. i hit the ground. going, 30 to 40 knots and was instantly paralyzed. i met jack fanning when he invited us to park city, utah, through his foundation. i was able to actually get on the mountain and ski with my family, i can't put into words what that meant. i got paid in the military to do crazy fun stuff. .. i'm still that s ame guy. and when i was able to jump out of a perfectly good, helicopter, at 10,000 feet, i did it. i was talking to some vets last week amazing how we have these houses where they can come over because they■re in chairs too. carpet and wheelchairs don't mix very well. tunnel to towers, they got rid of all that. they redid my whole bathroom. that's probably the favorite
