>> oh, they're waiting for the debate. you know, if i destroy her in the debate they will say trump suffered a humiliating defeat tonight. >> [laughter] >> no matter what. although they did, you know, with biden. one of the cnn people said that about my part they said the donald trump performance tonight was the single-greatest debate performance i've ever seen. liz: former president trump. tonight's high-stakes debate with new report democrat insiders are now leaking to the media they are worried kamala will fail. joining us rnc chair michael whatley, tim murtaugh, congressman brian mast. monica crowley ned ryan and miranda devine. plus this , kamala the incumbent claims she's a change from the status quo. we have details on how kamala's team got caught copying and pasting her policy platform from
5:02 pm
biden's old campaign website. also tonight. >> you could put half of trump supporters into what i call the basket of deplorables. liz: well that baskets goating pretty crowded. now nancy pelosi attacks gop voters too. tonight, why do democrats spend more time and energy attacking voters rather than fixing america like the border crisis that erupted on their watch? angel moms battle membrane potentials today trying to downplay americans killed by illegal aliens. >> please don't speak over me because i'm still talking. i'm not done. i have the mic. >> these people lost loved ones. they lost children. >> i just talked to them. >> don't make an assumption we're being used. liz: tonight we've got more from that heated hearing and the fireworks and also, big bank ceo's jamie dimon and br brian moynihan out with new warnings on the biden-harris

economy on debate day. economists on wall street experts are warning vice president kamala harris has a tough economic record to defend and tonight's debate against former president trump. edward lawrence is live in philadelphia with the latest. it's good to see you. reporter: liz, yeah, and vice president kamala harris will have to give more details about her economic plans. now former president trump, he wants to remind people that his economic policies, well they worked when he was in office. >> when you look at what donald trump did last week in new york he gave a detailed speech of the economic club about what his policies would look like over the next four years. you know it's amazing no one is talking about the fact that donald trump has very specific policies that he's outlined. reporter: former president trump wants to extend his tax cuts for all americans. he wants to lower the corporate tax rate to 15% for companies that build products in the united states. the president wants to end ev mandates and cut regulations on
5:04 pm
american energy. for the vice president, she will need to put meat on the vague policies she posted on her website yesterday. >> when it comes to the economy, she will talk about the ways she wants to make sure middle class families can actually get ahead and talk about her plan for middle class tax cut. she will talk about the work she wants to do to lower housing costs and the work she wants to do to spur and innovate small business growth, making sure we can actually increase the deduction for small business owners tenfold. reporter: the vice president also wants to sign a national rent control plan. she wants to target companies using the ftc for price gouging especially in the grocery industry. the vice president will end the trump tax cuts which will basically be an increase in taxes for all americans as well as increase taxes on corporations. she will add taxes on some investments for some people while saying no one making under $400,000 a year will get a tax increase. she wants to do it while advancing environmental justice so we'll have to see , liz, exactly what details we get and
5:05 pm
how the moderators drill down on those economic plans. liz: the rhetoric, edward lawrence, always great reporting from you thank you so much. good to see you edward. okay, game on the debate tonight. kamala harris is trying to campaign she's going to do tax cuts. she's not. she's doing tax credits. that's a far weaker kind of a thing for you to have to handle. it is not a tax cut. it's what bill clinton did. they are just tax credits and now pennsylvania was won by a razor thin margin in 2016 where the debates being held. trump has done seven debates since 2016. this is kamala harris' first debate since 2020 so the rules are, no notes, no opening statements, no live audience, muted mics. trump will do the final closing statement. joining us now, rnc chair michael whatley. good to see you so what is trump's strategy tonight? >> trump is going to come out and he's going to talk directly to the american voters every
5:06 pm
single one of them and he's going to lay out his vision for taking america forward over the next four years. how he's going to restore our southern border. he's going to rebuild our economy, and he's going to ensure that america is strong enough to protect our interests at home and abroad. liz: okay so a majority of americans up to 70% say the us, america, is on the wrong track. kamala harris campaigning she's a changed agent from the status quo, but now the new republic reports that kamala's campaign platform was copied and pasted from joe biden's old campaign platform that caught via check of computer software so michael the irony is rich. plagerizeing joe biden, the same joe biden accused of plagerizing jfk, so she's already got a dozen flip-flops and policy. how much exactly is trump going to handle the idea that, you know, she may insult the identity of kamala harris and is not going to stick to
5:07 pm
policy. >> well, kamala harris is not ready for primetime. i think that we have seen that throughout the course of this campaign. tonight is going to be an extremely bright spotty light, and her advisors have had a very hard time trying to determine whether or not they are going to double down on all of the failed policies that she has championed over the years as a senator, as a prosecutor and attorney general and vice president, or is she going to try and walk them back and try and flip flop on these various positions, so we'll see where she lands tonight, but the fact is, the american voters have spoken very loudly. they care about jobs in the economy. they care about inflation. they care about safety. they care about security, and donald trump is leading in the issue polls on every single one of these issues, consistently and that's where american voters are going to watch to see what is said tonight and they are going to see donald trump remain true to his core message of making america wealthy, safe, and
5:08 pm
secure again. liz: so kamala harris is looking for the viral moment. basically that she could go viral with a moment of being insulted by trump so trump isn't going to play into that is that the idea? because democrats now leaked to the media. they are leaking to the hill. they are leaking to cnn. they are leaking to politico lit that democrats are anxious ahead of the debate saying kamala has not cemented the path to win the election that if the election were held today trump could still win so she wants that viral moment to paint trump as , you know, a nasty individual whose just going to attack her personally. is that going to happen? >> kamala wanted to sit down and have notes. she wanted to change the rules that were agreed to and now she wants to come in and try and get this viral moment. if she were ready to talk to the american voters about the issues they care about, that's what she be focused on. donald trump is going to be very clear in articulating the issues
5:09 pm
that really matter to the american voters, and he's not going to have to rely on gimmicks. he's not going to have to try. what he's going to do is have a conversation directly with the american voters about what he's going to do to make their lives better. liz: michael whatley, thanks for joining us, rnc chair good to see you. now fox business will be simulcasting tonight's presidential debate starting at 9:00 p.m. eastern time after a special two hour bottom line. be sure to tune in. >> people who have an issue or concern with this idea that you have not done, or won't do enough to help people that are having struggles. >> look, i know you know that groceries are still too expensive and we've got work to do there. i will increase going after that kind of behavior, that bad behavior called price gouging. liz: so this looks like another blunder. that was kamala harris on the eve of the debate admitting yes, inflation and grocery
5:10 pm
prices got too high on her and biden's watch. look whose here. new york post columnist best selling author miranda devine. it's always great to see you wonderful to have you on the show. so what do you make of this? it sounds like a gaf, and then she's doubling down price controls economists warn will drive up prices and cause food shortages. what do you think? >> look, i think whatever kamala harris says about the economy, she doesn't sound credible. she doesn't sound like she knows what she's doing. everyone knows that she's flipped and flopped all over the place since 2020 and before, and not only that. you just pointed out that her campaign is cut-and-paste the biden policies from their website and put them on her naked website which had no policies because that would have been way too embarrassing and too much of a gift to donald trump for him to make that point that she has zero policies on her website.
5:11 pm
suddenly, they appear, and they cut-and-paste. she doesn't have any ideas, and her entire campaign seems to be run with sort of a few band-aids and a bit of boot polish to try and make it look credible and it'll be interesting to see if she can hold it together tonight. liz: somebody in the kamala campaign is leaking to the media. they are leaking to the hill, they are leaking to cnn, and now politico reports democrats are worried vice president harris is going to lose to former president trump, that the harris campaign is circulating an internal memo by campaign chair who said that they are the underdogs. trump has the advantages, including a motivated base of support with more support, higher favorability than he has had at any point since 2020 so again this is about turning out the voter. is kamala? >> i just think that they are trying to lower expectations,
5:12 pm
because of course, there's this sort of drum beat going on in the sort of liberal podcast world that kamala harris is actually a really expert debater, brilliant debater, and she is a wonderful former prosecutor and she's just going to hold poor old donald trump over the coals and i think the campaign realizes that that's not likely, and they really want her to just be able to get through it and people to say whoa that was an okay performance, better than we expected. liz: all right, lowering the bar so low, a cater pill la r could cross it i don't know. miranda devine, thank you for being with us tonight. it's great to see you coming up we've got a jam packed hour. we have more fox business analysis ahead of tonights debate. also trump campaign senior advisor tim murtaugh of what strategy former president trump will likely use fox business is

simulcasting debate at 9:00 p.m. eastern time also tonight. >> maybe there needs to be a formal deprogramming of the cult members. liz: nancy pelosi has her own hillary moment attacking gop voters who pay their paychecks. they have paid for nancy too we've got the new jaw dropping sound from nancy pelosi so why are democrats like speaker pelosi former speaker pelosi, why do they attack voters and not the problems hurting america? is speaker pelosi that obsessed with winning at all cost including voters who pay her paycheck? also chicago taxpayers, they are fed up, they are speaking out, because they feel that this biden white house is prioritizing illegal immigrants over them. >> the words of malcolm x, who told us what? that the white liberal is the worst enemy to the black man. and it is coming up in here, acting like you all representing

howie: okay welcome back. it was a painful and emotional day on capitol hill. this happened on debate day. angel families speaking out testifying about losing their loved ones in the deadly border crisis fueled by the biden-harris white house. biden did nearly eight dozen executive actions directly weakening the us border. senator john kennedy says it's in the hundreds overall. fox news senior congressional correspondent chad pergram live on capitol hill with the latest. chad? reporter: liz, good afternoon. some of the testimony was chilling. republicans blamed the administration and tammy nobles is the mother of kayla hamilton. the killer of her daughter wasn't supposed to be in the us. he stayed in town and worked in restaurants. >> martinez was a known gang member of ms 13 and that martinez had a criminal record in el salvain el salvadore.
5:21 pm
reporter: as stark as the testimony was today democrats suggested the gop used the witnesses as props for political purposes. >> i am sorry that you came here expecting seriousness. you are serious. they are not, and you deserve a hell of a lot more than what you're getting from them. reporter: that drew one witness who advocates for families of loved ones killed by people in the country illegally. >> we have colleagues who are exploiting people's pain for political purposes, and unfortunately, that's what's happening today. >> it's insulting that you would say that to these families, that you would make an assumption they are being exploited. reporter: house judiciary

committee chairman jim jordan pinned the border crisis on the biden-harris administration. he says it refuses to enforce immigration laws on the books. liz? liz: chad pergram great reporting let's welcome american majority ceo ned ryan. what's your reaction to the angel families here? and the idea that they are being manipulated. that they are not intelligent enough to know that they may be manipulated when they aren't being manipulated but speaking out because nobody has called them. nobody has given them the time of day from the white house when he lost their loved ones. you see canada, the eu, italy, germany, shutting their borders. we did not and now you have people dead because of this border crisis. why don't these families get the justice they deserve and be able to just speak out without democrats trying to politicize everything they do. >> at the end of the day it's because what democrats want is overt, intentional systematic
5:23 pm
illegal immigration. they don't want the voices of the angel families given any platform to discuss, highlight to the american people the absolute tragedy that is taking place with millions upon millions of illegal immigrants being brought into this country, again in an overt and systematic way. you eluded to senator kennedy with his tweet. it was 300 executive orders in the first year of the biden administration that clearly annihilated a lot of our immigration reform that had been brought about by donald trump shutting down the border, limiting the illegal immigrants coming in and actually deporting them back to where they came from and i think, you know, what the republicans were doing is trying to give these angel families a platform to discuss their stories to really highlight to the american people. this is absolutely a crisis. it's not on the border. it's in every community. every aspect of the american people because of what the biden administration has done. liz: and they keep talking about that senate bill that would have been 2 million illegal crossings a year. cemented that in place which
5:24 pm
the obama administration said was crisis level crossings and would force states to only sue to stop these bad policies and one court, the d.c. circuit court that tends to be favorable toward whoever is in the white house. let's please get your reaction to this voter going after the chicago city council for prioritizing illegal immigrants over minority neighborhoods. these neighborhoods have been struggling under the weight of inflation, crime, poverty, substance abuse, lack of good education and now dealing with this. watch. >> words of malcolm x, who told us what? that the white liberal is the worst enemy to the black man. and it is. coming up in here, acting like you all representing some social justice, when all along, all you're doing is trying to use black people to find a reason to make some money. we're done. the democratic party is done! you better get up out

the democratic party. save yourself. save your families. save your dignity. save your jobs and your seat because if you all don't, we coming for your seats. we ain't taking this no more. liz: it is so painful to see voters having to endure what's going on. you know, ohio's attorney general is now threatening to sue the biden white house. a massive influx of migrants into ohio hometowns are seeing a rise in property theft, car crashes, squatting in homes. final word. >> well, it's pretty amazing the biden administration has imported 20,000 haitians into the small community of springfield, ohio which is a small town between dayton and columbus. rapid demographic change brings absolute destruction to communities and i would argue to this country, liz and again, people that are doing it, i think they are doing it because they hate this country, the american people, and they are importing new voters. liz: and now, ned, we got

breaking news. costa rica just put out a threat alert that hezbollah were seen crossing the d gap in panama. >> our southern border is a national security threat not only because of terrorists. i think we should have a conversation about the tens of thousands of chinese nationals that have also been apprehended on our southern border. liz: ned, thank you so much good to see you. >> thanks liz. >> she's in pennsylvania and she's practicing for the debate. she's locked herself in her room. she's got a lot to learn. she's locked herself -- >> [laughter] >> [applause] >> and they have one problem. do you know what the problem is? they have maga people outside screaming "we love trump, we love trump" and they can't focus. liz: okay we've got more on the debate tonight. fox business analysis coming in. what is the trump team strategy? we're going to talk to trump campaign senior advisor tim

the congressional gold medal ceremony today. why did president biden, vice president harris not show up? how come they were not there? >> they haven't showed up for anything related to these gold star families. the only place that you could say they were present was just the tarmac for what was supposed to be the dignified transfer and we know joe biden was checking his watch on the tarmac that day. liz: and vice president harris did not go to dover to attend that, so you know -- >> she didn't go to dover and she wasn't at arlington national cemetery either on the anniversary of their deaths. liz: you know, john kirby, national security spokesman was asked whether anyone is going to be held accountable. watch this. >> was anyone ever held accountable by the president directly for what happened with the withdrawal in afghanistan? >> we have all held ourselves accountable for the progress of the withdrawal across the administration. as i said, not everything went according to plan, but again, we hold ourselves all accountable

for that. liz: how do they hold themselves accountable? do they just say tonight i'm not going to have desert. they are still working in the government and have not called the gold star families and not publicly named the us service members killed during the chaos. >> it a despicable comment to make. there were 13 americans that paid the price for the fact that they would not hold each other accountable for anything throughout that withdrawal. if you want an example of holding somebody accountable or what they would consider that, recall that the only person that was jailed surrounding this was a us marine colonel for speaking out against everything that was going on. those are the only ones that they took. the only individual they took any action against whatsoever, surrounding the afghanistan withdrawal, was somebody that spoke out against it. liz: the angel families, gold star families their lives have been changed forever by really bad policy coming out of this white house. they have been hammered. their lives will never be the same. congressman thanks for joining us and for your service to

did that? a really good principle of politics is it's okay to attack politicians but don't attack the voters because they get insulted and they won't be likely to vote democrat but just 15% 20% just with those comments, and as you say, the democrat party should look in the mirror. this is the party looking the other way when we have these anti-israel, anti-jewish protests, jewish students on campus being terrified to cross the campus without being attacked or people getting their way and nancy pelosi should spend time looking at the racism in her own party rather than accusing the gop of being a party which there's not. liz: there's no proof 30%. there's no proof of that. pelosi herself, by the way has seen her personal fortune grow by tens of millions of dollars during her time on capitol hill. by the way, amber, let's get your reaction to what nancy pelosi really thinks about poor, illegal aliens coming to oh, yeah, pick our crops.

watch this. >> we have a shortage of workers in our country and you see even in florida, some of the farmers and the growers saying why are you shipping these immigrants up north? we need them to pick the crops down here. liz: you know, everything she's been saying makes an eloquent case for term limits. >> [laughter] exactly, look. the reality is we have seasonal work visas in the united states. we know that the majority of farm worker rsvp actually native-born americans and they will work in these jobs if they are given the fair wages that they deserve, and the solution, either way, to a labor shortage is not open borders where you're letting people in without vetting them or processing them properly, and then they go on to commit crimes or work illegally under the table and not pay taxes. liz: you know, this hysteria from msnbc, and from democrats that oh, we may not have an american system of government

anymore if trump wins. they literally think it's the end of democracy if trump wins when we have a system of checks and balances more than 200 years old. how exactly would democracy end if trump is elected? deroy wasn't it the democrat party who moved to work on impeaching trump even before he sat down in the oval office in 2017, a dozen impeachment resolutions in like six months 85 targets 14 committees to attack trump? isn't the history, true history here is how polarizing and negative and divisive nancy pelosi, chuck schumer and the democrat party has been. >> well absolutely, and they also impeached president trump after he left office which is totally unprecedented and look recently the party of democracy in our country just recently within the last few weeks completely knocked out the gentlemen who won 14.3 million votes from their own democrat party and pushed him to the side and told biden to go to the beach and decided

elizabeth: we're hours from presidential debate between former president trump and vice president kamala harris. on abc. it will be simulcast on fox news and here on fox business, joining us tim murtaugh, what is former president trump's strategy. >> he has a couple of

things, first to pin kamala harris' actual record to her. she has been an extreme liberal from san francisco, she was da of san francisco, attorney general of california. as u.s. senator, and there is no way she will be allowed to escape responsibility for all failure of biden-harris administration, he. she will somehow come up with ideas in her mind propose solutions to the problems, every time she does, we're expecting president trump to turn to her say, if you think that is a problem, why don't you do something about it right now, she is at this moment vice president of united states, if she identifies problems in country it is because she and joe biden created them, they should be doing something about them right now. not promising about the future. if she in how gets into the white house. that is what i expect you
5:59 pm
will see from president trump. elizabeth: how does the team expect kamala harris to respond? >> well, we are expecting her to weasel out of hers responsibility. she wants to claim bing biden-harris administration when it suits her, white house press secretary karine jean-pierre, retying her to the biden-harris regime. think about this, she cannot possibly try to escape from this, her name is on the door. they have been branding this biden-harris administration since the very first day. if the biden white house were a store front, kamala harris would be outside on the street with a razor blade trying to scrape her name off of the window, she does not want anyone to associate with failures of that administration, but it is a fact when donald trump was president, economy was in great shape, southern border with mexico was secure, world was at peace.
6:00 pm
you were biden and harris, it is a mess. the world is on fire. everyone who will vote in this election has lived through both administrations it is no contest on that, donald trump wins. how do you think kamala will handle muted mics? >> well, if i were she, i would be more concerned about the fact that her mic will be open from time to time, which means she will be forced to explain away her record, there is no secret. why it is she trying to reinvent herself, that person that democrats nominated in chicago a few weeks back is not kamala harris that has been occupying washington or california. >> thank you, tim, we appreciate you. >> thank you. >> we're running out of time, thanks for watching "the evening edit," dvr us, now time for "the bottom line" with dagen and sean. dagen: two hours! thank yo
