with 2-4 feet of storm surge and wrecking businesses and homes and less than two weeks ago hurricane helene, that didn't even make landfall in this part of florida, also causing storm surge to come in. today as people were having an understanding of how serious this hurricane that's coming in, they were getting sandbags read i can and boarding up buildings and businesses and homes, and trying to reconcile the fact that what is coming could be catastrophic to florida. when i say that, i mean it. we're talking about storm surge up to 10 feet in ft. myers beach. to the north potentially 10-15 feet in tampa along with very intense winds. potential for category 3 or more. now, here's the problem. we don't know exactly where the landfall will be. we'll know that in the next 4 hours, but in the interim, we've been talking to residents and their fears. listen to one woman.

and influence over politics in the united states. he's been very vocal on his platform x about his opposition to many biden harris administration policies. most recently he and other republicans are criticizing the biden admin vagues over its response to hurricane helene and he's accusing fema of making it difficult to get star link units and other supplies to damaged areas in north carolina sharing on his x feed that the faa blocked helicopters from getting in. karine jean-pierre, the white house press secretary today said that's misinformation and faa didn't block any air space. fema says supplies are getting to people that need it in north carolina. and the transportation secretary pete buttigieg says he spoke with musk over the phone to smooth things over. liz. liz: always great reporting from grady trimble. appreciate you so much, grady. >> i'm putting everything on the line to fight for you and we're going to fight for you, and we're all going to win together.

sitting on $8.3 billion in unspent disaster money before 2012 and could be ten times that amount and p the khs inspector general awe kitted a fraction of you are -- audited a fraction of the declaration and sending a lot of money over there. i want liz, it is complicated but possible to reappropriate money. if congress comes back, it's possible to look at other less urgent needs for the government and reappropriate for this. i've spoken to some sources who are very familiar with law making down in north carolina who are saying that they are of the opinion fema has access to money unspent from other disas asters. lauren: at least 8 billion. >> they need to go to that amount of money. liz: what you did, it wasn't misinformation, peter. what you were talking a.c. at least $8 billion sitting over there. peter, thank you so much.

>> if trump gets georgia and leads in the poll by a point and a half and gets north carolina where he's tied in the polls right mow and where trump won in 2020, the only one of the battleground states trump carried four years ago, all trump would need on top of georgia and north carolina would be pennsylvania where harris has a small lead and looking at party registration in pennsylvania. look at this, when donald trump first came on scene, back in 2016, the democratic advantage and party registration in pennsylvania was over 900,000 votes. 2020 and in 2024u cut in two-thirds down to about 330,000. here are some of the cities in that latino vote in belton,

>> the battleground state and nobody can say what's going to win and i remember in 2020, donald trump had these boat parades and joe biden ending up picking up georgia and going for voters and the registration going for them up and down and going till the end. liz: what do you think, mark? >> donald trump has the wind at his back and all in his direction and 1980 all overmen. jimmy carter lost the blue collar voters and the democratic base because of inpolice station and gas prices and all that sort of stuff. the reason trump won big in 2016 was the border. he lost that issue and couldn't use it in 2020 because the problem was contained. he's got that issue back plus all the other stuff i said. i think he wins easily here. liz: politico reports merely two dozen democrats and kamala harris' own staffers are worried
