stuart: the market seems to like the jobs ad to the economy. >> yeah, rates came down for a bit but, stuart, it's not just one report and keep in mind, the government revised down the last two reports now and the jobs market was one of the factors that the biden harris administration had been running on if jobs market was so strong and the fact the market is slowing if you're looking at fundamentals, it's certainly a bearish indicator. stuart: we want your exotic pick of the week, and i'm going to tell the audience what it is. alt shares merger arbitrage, arb is the ticker symbol. you have to explain this one. >> well, this is a bet on stocks going up, stuart, baa bet on a -- an investment philosophy and that's merger arbitrage and

downward revisions that we got yet again, it turns out that we basically lost 100 jobs and i know a lot of people including in the biden harris administration are trying to blame this all on hurricanes and strikes but look at household survey, which is where the unemployment rate gives us measure of employees and for the month it fell over 300,000. that survey and brings people to employee and out of work because of the semi-prayer disruption like a strike and in other words you can't tell me that all of these losses are simply coming from things like strikes because the data say that's not true. stuart: going for 2025. >> that's what the leading indicators are telling us and pointing down for quite awhile now and one of the reasons why the reports have not gotten much worse than they have been is

simply the fact that things were skewed essentially coming out of the pandemic. when you reopen the economy, all of a sudden for example you get a massive surge in new orders and as things normize, it looks like a big downturn and what we're seeing today that i think is different, is we're moving away from his toric norms and going even lower so that's where we get those negative indicators from that tell us in the future things are going to continue slowing down. stuart: trump plans to create a new cab gnat position and job to reduce the cost of living and ej, can a cabinet position do that? >> ordinarily, stu. i would say absolutely don't do this or create another cabinet position or three letter agency or whatever the case may be. if we're talking about something that will aim at bringing down the cost of living, which today means reducing government, reducing government not just waste, fraud and abuse, but the size and scope of government to

reduce spending and the money printing and reduce inflation and this sounds like a real win here and we've talked about this before and would love to see somebody like elon musk head this up. stuart: that would be a cabinet position and i don't think musk would want to be in the cabinet and walk away from investments and not going to do that. let's get back to this, elon musk the $2 trillion he wants to cut out of government spending. john paulson, that's a potential treasury secretary under trump and he says he could get $1.7 trillion worth of cuts just especially by ending the ev mandate. that sounds very promising to me. >> absolutely, stuart. especially when we consider the fact that not only is this waste from the standpoint of we're spending taxpayer dollars on something that we could very easily go without and once that money goes into the private economy, it's causing a misallocation of resources and things that would be better
