running so strong. i would challenge that. outrage may be unpleasant, especially when you're on the receiving end. it may lead to threats of violence like biden's clenched teeth, kick him in the rear end comment. that's not acceptable. but intensity is not a threat to democracy. just because the issues are fought hard with plenty of emotion, doesn't mean the constitution republic is coming and apathy corrodes democracy and no interest in voting for the whole thing to break down. look at new york city, one in five voters turned out for recent mayoral elections and new york is a one party city and very badly run. we're seeing the exact opposite in this presidential election and people are fired up. maybe angry at both candidates but they want to vote and want their voice heard and that's what democracy is all about. of those that voted in 2020, more than half have already voted in 2024. no apathy there. there is however one example in this election cycle where
11:07 am
democracy did come under attack. that was joe biden's pursuit of donald trump in the courts. the lawfare strategy and democrats under direction from the biden white house bent and twisted the law in an effort to imprison and bankrupt their political opponent. that's not the way our democracy is supposed to work. as of now, this democracy is doing very well. it's not threatened by passionate politics and we have a choice of candidates who represent very different points of view. they'll make up our collective mind on which way to go. i don't see apathy out there, i see a vibrant constitutional republic. brian burg with me now. >> you don't hear this very often and someone defending the debate and that's what democracy was created to do and that's where democracy can verbally spar all you want and don't do the worst thing you want and physically spar with each other and that's what we're trying to avoid here. to me the threat to democracy is
