looking at red ink across the board. dow is down 20, nasdaq down 50. the 10 year treasury yield around 4.5%. the price of oil $70 a barrel, bitcoin still strong, down to $88,000 a coin. that's the market and now this. there is a common thread running through all the pics for donald trump's administration and that is loyalty to donald trump. this is different from the last trump presidency. back then there was no unifying vision of government, talking a lot of people he thought would work well, many didn't, a lot of firings, this time he has learned a lot, this time all the pics have a track record of loyalty to trump. more important loyalty to what trump wants done.

his cabinet members have to stay in line, trump needs this level of control because he's trying for a revolution. that a strong word but what trump is trying to do is transformational. foreign policy, economic policy, reform the department of justice, the pentagon, education. you have to have discipline and control to get these things done. matt gaetz is a surprise choice for attorney general but has never wavered in his support for trump. he has always been loyal. same with marco rubio. they were rivals but since they made peace rubio has been completely loyal. pete hegseth always loyal and laid out a plan for the military that fits trump's vision. the house has been called for the gop, the new leader, john thune is on board with trump's agenda and the cabinet is united, the stage is set for real change. second hour of varney getting started.

brian brenberg with me this morning, trump has united cabinet. did he figure out the right people? brian: he had four years to think about it and has another shot. a lot of people are loyal to him and more importantly have a unified vision, they know where he wants to go, same place that they want to go. nobody will veer off to the side because i don't know if i love the trump vision. it's been on display for years so they will roll in the same direction. that will be the secret sauce even if you have some characters in that cabinet they all know what the boss wants and are working for what the boss wants. stuart: you are good friends with pete hegseth. you grew up with him. >> i call him a character. he is on the left. i'm on the right.

pete is an awesome choice. to me choosing pete for defense secretary is a sign of trump's brilliance because pete on paper is an interesting choice but if you know pete you know he can do anything he puts his mind to, the smartest toughest most disciplined guy i have ever met in my life. when i grew up with him it was frustrating how good he was. why is pete so good? but he is unbelievably effective. stuart: he's laying out his vision for the military, trump read the books, sees him on tv and says that is my guy. brian: everyone is like how is the confirmation hearing going to go? he is going to destroy anybody who goes against him because he goes deep on issues and learned everything.

leaves a lot of room open for where his vote may go but it' s a top process to get through judiciary to get to the floor. my first thought was when this was announced by donald trump, he is putting matt gaetz out there knowing he has a difficult road forward. maybe he has a different aag pick, you were shocked by the pic, and the first person he picked seems more palatable to capitol hill if he doesn't get farooq, there are a lot of steps sparking this, he asked all the majority senate candidates to commit to recess appointments and that's what he has in mind for matt gaetz. stuart: if he becomes attorney general the belief is he would go after the justice department, would that be a form of retribution?

vivek ramaswamy, stephen miller is 39, the white house deputy chief of staff for policy and j.d. vance is a mere 40 years old. this is different. in 2016 he surrounded himself with more political insiders, certainly older. he is going in the other direction. who voted for trump? millennials in the administration but people 18 to 29 which is jen z, 36% of their support up 11 points this time around. stuart: that's the next generation politics. >> they see him as hope and change because he can speak to them about the issues they care about. stuart: an old guy. brian: giving his all movement life through this. this is his legacy. they will carry this on and democrats have always been the party of the younger people and republicans have stolen that.
