demand for what i'll call the nuts and bolts of what we need. >> ten seconds. do i buy energy with the rhetoric of drill baby drill? >> start with service names and u.s. energy names are second especially with valuations are very attractive at the moment. >> thank you very much. mark giambrone, appreciate it. markets have been a bit mixed here. we started out really low and thin clawed our way back. but the big interview happening thursday at 3:00 p.m. eastern and don't miss liz claman's exclusive interview with ceo of nvidia and it's jenson wong. that does it for us. kudlow is next.

larry: hello, folks. welcome to kudlow, i'm larry kudlow. the question is will the senate help him confirm? eric schmitt and tommy tuberville in a moment and john barrasso later on in the show and fox news jacqui heinrich live at the white house. jacqui, what's cooking? reporter: larry, we got another a couple seconds ago and dr. oz nominated to head up centers for medicare and medicaid services and that statement came in to my phone as i was standing here waiting to talk to you. earlier in the day, the trump transition cochair howard lutnick will be the next commerce secretary if confirmed by the senate. a big job made even bigger and he'll be in charge of implementing the trump tariffs and treasury secretary playing a role in that and we don't know who trump's nominee for treasury will be just yet. we thought we were going to get
4:02 pm
news earl whyer in the day about who was going to head up the fbi, but jd vance deleted a tweet saying trump is actively interviewing candidates for that job. we can confirm that vance is meeting with nominees like matt gaetz and pete hegseth and their nominations head to the senate and vance flexing contacts in that chamber to get the nominees through starting in meetings on the hill this week. meantime, trump is giving the press a chance for a reset and telling fox digital he's committed to working with the media including those that treated him badly and >> he's going to be the president and if you want to meet with him, meet with him. that's no different than why would kamala harris go talk to brett bear, on one side -- bret
4:03 pm
baier. >> trump thinking while many others are calling for meetings, i'm not looking for retribution, grand standing or destroying people treating me unfairly even badly beyond comprehension he said. reporter: the current president had no engagements with the press and on his way back from the two summits in south america that ended without a press conference or a shouting question answered. in fact, the pool traveling with him was screaming at biden as he boarded air force one to return to washington trying to get him to say anything. larry. larry: jacqui, is there a media honeymoon in the press room and has the tone changed less hostile and more cooperative and you're there all the time. what do you think? reporter: well, we haven't had many briefings since the
4:04 pm
election and so time will tell and i think that one thing is very clear all the outlets covering trump and people voted for him and throwing rocks at trump is not a good business strategy. so all their employers are going to want a reset as well. we'll see as the administration, new administration comes in and takes shape what thatting loos like. larry: good stuff. jacqui heinrich, thank you as always. howard lutnick will keep america first. that's the sucket of the riff. so, many congrats to old friend, howard lutnick. just nominated by president elect trump to be secretary of commerce department. howard is a trump supporter and campaigner and fundraiser throughout the presidential psychoand will has a tremendous suck -- cycle and has a tremendous success record of ceo
4:05 pm
of wall street counterfeits where he recalled and cochair of president's transition team. he's done work generating lists and lists of tier one top candidates for positions in the new trump administration. mr. trump called howard a dynamic force on wall street. you bet that howard lutnick will be a bulldog in defending american business around the world. thankfully mr. lutnick is indicting the world cap list that's a strong -- capitalist of strong believer of america first and strong advocate to remedy unfair trading practices directed at u.s.. heil support the use of tariffs whenever and wherever appropriate. the world trading system is broken, major trading partners like china and eu, india and elsewhere have significantly higher tariffs than the u.s. and yet nothing is ever done about it by the world trade organization.
4:06 pm
which is cleatly broken. mr. trump himself is a master negotiator and he'll not hesitate to use tariffs in search of reciprocity or frankly to punish countries who keep violating trade deals. and all though a lot of economists keeper game telling us -- keep tells us tariffs are inflationary, it's evidence. they're boycott high prices and force tarif tariffs country to e them and mr. trump slammed tariffs on china and no inflation. tariff related inflation in certain areas might be a one time short lived affair. importantly, the u.s. cannot give away the crowned jewels of advanced technological innovation. the u.s. cannot allow intellectual property theft or the forced transfer of technology. reciprocity is most welcomed, but tariffs may still be
4:07 pm
necessary. howard lutnick agrees with this and will be supportive. howard is a supply sider and pushing hard for passage of the trump tax cuts and believes in dynamic scoring of growth incentives of tax rates and revenue feedback that's been prune all these many years even though official scorekeepers like the cbo and joint tax committee and including private scorekeepers are with the important model deny the fact that revenue surged in the years after the trump tax cuts but one more very important point. when the terrific rihannas slammed into the world trade center, 658 counter employees
4:08 pm
were killed and in the years after the awful terrorist attack, he not only rebuilt c canter fitzgerald -- cantor fitzgerald into a power house but rebuilt the families that were ki killed in the dreadful terror evidence of infection tack. i interviewed howard many times following that 9/11 attack and talked about what he was doing for the families. howard lutnick has many accomplishments in business and now forth coming in government and i believe what he did in support of the post-9/11 family tragedies will always remain his single greatest achievement. good luck to howard lutnick and that's the riff. gentlemen, welcome to the show.
4:09 pm
brain power when thomas jefferson had dinner alone and something that somebody once said and i was paraphrasing and i wasn't there. senator tuberville, howard lutnick, he'll be a bulldog for america at the commerce department. what do you think, sir? >> no doubt, larry. i had to chance to meet with howard a couple of weeks ago in new york. given my input with a few of the cabinet nominees and he's done a yeoman's job and worked close with president trump and that's the guy to have an impossible job to put them together at one time because we need to hit the ground running in the very near future and not just a great business person, larry, he's a great american and believes in the country and that's what we need working with president trump and somebody that believes in america first, hit the ground running and he'll do a great job in the commerce department. larry: senator shied, schmidt -
4:10 pm
senator schmidt, the point i made on tax cut asks they take up an awful lot of your time in the first year, the first coming year 2025 of the second trump administration. one thing, i don't want to let this slip by, senator tuberville agrees but the economic incentives of lower tax rates creates tremendous growth, which in turn throws off revenues far greater than so-called static economic models predict and we've seen this for the longest time and worked with reagan in the budget office many years ago and wouldn't allow for reagan lower marginal tax rates and revenue exploded and way back in the jfk years and i wrote a book about that. trump's tax c cuts in 2017, look at baseline cbo laid out in 2017 and look where it is today, it's not even close. it's almost twice as high as estimating and i'm glad that
4:11 pm
howard lutnick and hope the next treasury secretary believes in revenue feedback and dynamic scoring models, and i think you own the senate and got to push this. this will be very important for getting the trump tax cuts past. >> i agree and i'm on the joint economic committee and had a discussion about this thing and articulate how it matters to real people and you're right, when you have broad based tax relief and jfk and ronald reagan and president trump and you've seen revenues rise and people have more of their own money and it's the point. that's what we saw in 2017 and beyond with the tax cuts and telling the american people what's on the line. all the tax cuts from middle class families go away and we ought to extend and make them permanent. all the small businesses that aren't organized as c-corp.s and mom and pops and closely held businesses and s-corp. they received a tax cut for the first time under that bill and we have to do right by them.
4:12 pm
if we do all those things and early, our economy will soar. larry: senator tuberville, you've got to rough up the cbo and joint tax committee. i'm saying that in metaphorical sense. of course i am. somebody has to hold them to it. take a look at estimates and joint tax committee and congressional budget office and take a look at what they said happened in 2017. i don't want to spend all night on this but somebodies that to push the crowd around and they're always wrong and might just sabotage the trump tax cuts and the bill. >> the truth is, it's what we need to look at, larry. you're exactly right and we've got to keep pushing what works and people don't understand we
4:13 pm
try to invent the wheel up here. we don't need to invent the wheel. we know what works and what doesn't work. we have seen this tax reform and get it done quickly and get it done quickly and we need to get regulations out of the way and we need the tax reform done and as eric said, we need to help the american people putting money back in their pocket, my goodness, the truth is shotgun we have to stay with and understand that the facts are there. larry: by the way, senator, on this point, i'm going to put this in. we have to move on in this segment, but senator mike crapo, chair of finance committee and very smart man. i've talked to him. there's such a thing as current policy baseline. cbo uses current services baseline and current long term estimates and you have a popular
4:14 pm
policy that's built into the budget forever and ever, a lot of people think you don't have to rescore that. you don't have to rescore that. you know who use that had principle? that well known on supply side is barack obama. you've got to talk to mike crapo about that. there's president. don't need to score the corporate tax mess anyway. >> that's a great point, larry. the other thing to keep in mind is the democrats open the door on reconciliation process and for the viewers at home, it means if you've got the house, got the senate and white house and it's tax related provisionss that are budget related and only need 51 votes in the senate and they pushed the envelope with the inflation reduction act and we have a opportunity for regulatory reform in the bill and i tend to push that because i think that getting government out of the way whether it's offshore leasing or whatever can be a boom for the economy and increase revenues and we ought to include that in the package. larry: i love that.
4:15 pm
including permitting reform could well work its way. gentlemen, i'm playing trump tape from the victory speech and you'll see where i'm going. hang on one second. there's >> the number of victories in the stat was incredit card and will you have great senators and great new senators and also looks like we'll be keeping control of the house of representatives. larry: senator tuberville, i'm worried about pete hegseth. i'm worrying particularly about gaetz. you've got the word of a
4:16 pm
convicted felon serving out 11 year prison term right now. and his two prostitute lady friends. okay. they seem to be the principle attackers for matt gaetz. i don't know everything there is no know about this. i've spent time with molly hemmingway, who's a april cent -- mollie hemingway, who's a brilliant journalist and there's a lot of feeling ands people don't want gnat gaits because he's a tough -- matt ga gaetz because s a tough minded conservative and protecting lawfare and weaponization and russia, russia, russia and all that garbage. what kind of shape is the gaetz thing in and what to do about it, if anything? >> whoever trump picks, the media will hammer them every day. we've all been around pretty long, larry. done a lot make any difference and if you're a republican, you've got to fight your way through this and clarence thomas and brett cavanaugh, we're going to look at facts, not rumors.
4:17 pm
there's nor rumors going around about matt gaetz and pete hegseth and all will have a rumor when it comes down to it. we've got to look at facts and got to help president trump. he's not going to pick somebody that's a criminal. he's not going to do that . he's going to vet everybody and he's done that . i'm looking forward to working with all of them and backing all of them, as long as the facts are there. larry: yeah, senator schmidt, i mean will gaetz get a fare hearing? he'll go office to office? sir, he served on judiciary committee and going for many terms and he's a sharp term and he's the allegations going for the crop up and it's kind of thing and it's what happened and it's the jus dis-the president and it's the lawfare justice department and it's going to put this out and they dropped the charges and there's something
4:18 pm
fishy going on here and is gaetz going to fare? >> i'm more angry than others because i happen to believe that president trump ran on the idea that he and others were going to come to washington and take on permanent washington. they're leading and going for them and president trump has the right to pick the nominees and going to shake things up. president trump deserved to have a department of justice and going for them and people right now going for one be able to gotham and the truth is these agencies are going for the department of justice and going
4:19 pm
for them. >> r larry: years ago and nothing happening and nothing going for hegseth was attacked and lawyers crop up and happen to be democrats and going for the me too movement and going for them running stories and gleefully about pete hegseth and i know him and worked with him here at fox and decorated military man and we both went to princeton and won't go there. i'm just saying, hegseth suicide a good as you'll get. >> exact -- hegseth is as good as you'll get. >> right .x we have overhaul and looking down the barrel of the gun and war with russia and what president biden has done in the past few days and going to take over military and get back to the nuts and bolts of what made

4:30 pm
about the trump presidency and home builder association said this is because of the election, people are planning on building again. that will go a long way to bringing down inflation because one of the biggest parts of inflation is rising rents and rising home prices. >> on the subject, consumer -- the real clear politics tips survey and consumer confidence overall. they're welcomening him and that's partisanship and people didn't like it. people will invest more and they'll be feeling better about consuming because they are not worried about the biden economy and all the regulations coming.

the escalation is huge to the economy and before doing real changes. larry: david, i impressed upon the senators and we move into the new year and trump tax cuts going in and they've got to just climb all over these official scorekeepers and so forth. history shows lower tax rates and art laffer's point and less tax avoidance at lower tax rates and especially because the everyone will benefit and i'm saying this is going to boost revenues baa they're going to try and sabotage it and saying no, it's not.
4:32 pm
>> they're trying to regulate small banks at end of the year and your l.l.c., doing good and a lot around the country is not and that can be changed and part of the blue collar boom is the opposite of washington getting jobs that's why trump hit a popular cord by talking about downsizing government. >> they each come up with models and project it and whoever wins in the next few years gets to be team lead. larry: wasn't that george, papa bush, cia. >> yeah, absolutely.

place and his number one goal of cleaning up the department of justice. matt gaetz will be questioned if he can do the job and senators have independent role coming to consider the nominees and going for president trump to make the decision and trying to respect the fact that the president should have nuanced for that. larry: it was a massive mandate for change and massive mandate. liz, you made your point offset but the fact is maybe marco rubio and to tammy's point and marco rubio's first, that kind of thing. maybe not have matt. let matt gaetz make the rounds, make the rounds maybe twice, okay. >> that started, i think. larry: yes, it has. marco getting through and he deserves to get through. he's a pretty popular member anyway and that would make at least some tactical sense.

crisis in our country right now, larra i it's result of wide open southern boarder and members of criminal cartels coming into our country and drug dealers and people on the terrorist watch list and we need to do everything we can to get the criminal illegal immigrants out of the country and overwhelmingly and three out of four americans support the approach of deportation. what we need to do is secure the border and what we need to do is make sure those here illegally, criminals out of the country and then get rid of all the incentives you see for free healthcare, free food, free housing, free debit cards loaded up with cash and get rid of all that and getting rid of incentives for people to come here. if the military is needed, all options have to be on the table to make sure the american people are safe and secure in our own homeland. larry: yeah, you know, we don't have enough time, but it is costing america a fortune. we may already with broke and that's yet another financial element to it.
