after the election. came in the highest since april and it rose as our belief that inflation will go up also rose to 2. 9%. this is the country feeling things will change even if inflation doesn't come down. stuart: things are looking up and that's reflected in that number and now this. biden is taking us down a sinkhole. the idea of preemptive pardons makes a mockery of constitutional pardoning power. let me bring you up to speed, donald trump not happy to be attacked in the courts during in the course during the election campaign, it was lawfair. it failed, voters didn't much care for the politicization of the courts, trump won. now in the waning days of his presidency joe biden is very worried the 47th president will come after the people who undermined his candidacy so

he's considering preemptive pardons, forget a and all sins so trump can't hold anyone accountable. imagine in the future blanket pardons for a whole raft of officials. as the wall street journal puts it, the risk of developing a culture of immunity if people in the next administration expect the same, absolution for their guy in four to 8 years, do what you like, get a pardon. biden has stretches pardoning power, hunter was granted absolution for anything he may have done in a tenure period. not only is that the broadest most far reaching pardon ever but an attempt to bottle up an investigation of the biden family. how did they get a $20 million from china. now he's considering preemptive pardons for people who've not been accused of any crime. if they are pardoned does that mean they are guilty of something, what a mess. time for biden to go quietly into the night, leave the stage, don't screw up the future please. second hour of varney just getting started.

jason chaffetz with me here in new york this morning, what do you think of these preemptive pardons? >> i hate them those this message to try to put a blanket over the whole -- it's just wrong and i do think there are more biden pardons to come. james biden in particular, others have vulnerability but this is fundamentally wrong, there's no accusation the three that were mentioned that they did anything wrong but let justice play out and it still bothers people the president fundamentally lied to our faces. they always knew, kay jp says the president just made this decision, nobody believes that either. he was always going to do this. stuart: nobody is above the

lauren: i remember him being a little kid in the white house. stuart: back to the jobs report, 227,000 jobs added in november. that stronger-than-expected but not much reaction on the market. it is kind of a neutral number as far as wall street is concerned. >> it is better than they expected, stronger, they expected 210, unemployment ticked up, wages were stronger than they expected. there's a little bit to talk about but i also think the market, i'm hearing everybody say the market expects to cut rates in september so the fed should cut rate so it doesn't disrupt the market and to that i say that is baloney, the fed shouldn't cut rates. they been too aggressive but the reason they probably will is they don't want to disrupt the last three weeks, start creating chaos in the markets for portfolio managers and

asset managers in people's retirement accounts. they will most likely cut, some thing i don't think they should do and then we will see the correction in january when the new year starts. stuart: you say the correction, talking about the market, the stock market will come down a bit? >> yeah because the market has not come down at all. we didn't see the correction like a pullback in august, september, october like we typically do, the head of the election they were very aggressive in september, the rate cut but they keep talking it up so now the market has never come back, a budget portfolio manager with friday night cash waiting for the pullback to happen so they can put the money to work, never had the chips and now they are running at the end of the year to get these names on their books so when they send out there year end quarterly statements of they show they have a lot of stocks, bigger positions than a lot of the hot stocks to prove to their investors the people give the money that they are doing the right thing and things will happen in january, all bets are off the table because the new

year starts, everything started 0 again and that is when i think you will see the fed will become more cautious, talk about going slow and not cutting rates and the market will adjust which it should and the digest, and who falls out of the branches and who doesn't. stuart: you don't expect a long-term disruption of the bull market. no full-scale selloff. >> 30% selloff, i don't see that but what i love to see 8% for 10% pullback, would love to see that because then it would shake the bridges and cause people to read focus but i do think the tech and tech revolution is going to continue to power us and affect every thing because every company no matter what industry is using vo-tech, using the ai so i do think long term i am quite bullish on the markets and

stuart: interesting development. house republicans slamming biden's migrant parole program. data shows that program allowed 530,000 migrants from cuba, haiti, nicaragua and venezuela into america without case-by-case individual review. congressman wesley hunt from texas joined me now. how do you stop this program? >> first of all, pam bondi and tom homan will be the perfect 1-2 punch to get this immigration crisis in line on day one and i sit on this committee, absolutely were to give us to imagine we've got 430, 540,000 illegal immigrants going into this country paid for by taxpaying dollars, no idea who these people are and noncitizens can sponsor parolees from other countries to our great nation and something else.

time the revisions were revised up. if you look at september and october revised up a total of 56,000 jobs and look where the jobs are, the government jobs in this list created 33,000 jobs meeting over the past month government sector created 34,700 jobs per month, many are concerned about sustainability. it rose 22,000 jobs mainly because the strikes ended. last time manufacturing created that many jobs was a year ago november 2023. it can't reverse the trend of the past three months, manufacturing lost a total of 38,000 jobs when added up over three months. >> the picture of manufacturing is what we've been saying, investments in manufacturing have been historic. the reality is you can't just start manufacturing, you got to build the facilities, construction jobs or been

for eighth grade scores going down on the right hand side and new york city public schools are loosening their reading standards to move at the pace of their student. what does that mean? move at the pace of your student? don't you lead them? lauren: i wish someone had said during the pandemic we might have falling education standards, obviously this is where we were going but we can't keep blaming the pandemic. we have to realize we have deeper problems in the education system. for one thing the teachers unions have too much power, they don't have power on their own but have gone power by democrat politicians and we can't let that go on. the story about new york city having kids lead them, what they are saying is they will lower layer standards and limit testing of these kids, we are not going to know if these kids are learning anything. that's what they keep coming back to. they don't want standardized

stuart: police are gathering more clues and evidence in the united healthcare ceo shooting. alexis mcadams is with us. how are the police able to obtain the suspect's dna? >> reporter: you don't really think somebody who is about to commit a murder in midtown manhattan would stop at a local starbucks and grab a drink before he does it but that's what investigators say this gunman did. grab a drink 3 minutes before he ended up shooting the ceo, finished it, throws it in the trash so investigators have that, that's what they are hoping to get the dna off of, saliva or whatever else is left

on that water bottle. we also know now that he was in the city for ten 10 days before he killed this ceo. these are the recent photos we just got into our newsroom, we 've been working to pass these out to see if anyone recognizes him, showing these posters that have been around the area too, those words you have right now, deny, depose, defend were also written on the shell casings by investigators, those were left behind at the scene so he was spotted at various locations across the city, took a greyhound bus, investigators say he got on the bus in atlanta and had been in the city for various days at various locations, you see the greyhound bus station do there in atlanta. police tell us the person of interest went to that starbucks before the shooting so that's now key evidence as they try to track his movements to see if he was caught on any other surveillance images, the shooting was caught on camera, the united healthcare ceo brian thompson was walking in midtown
