new york governor cath reigns leading hochul wants to -- kathy hochul wants to give $3 billion back to new yorkers. why, ashley? ashley: to help them fight inflation, stuart, of course. she said it's going to help working family battle high prices and paid for by tapping into excess sales tax revenue and one time direct payment plan part of hochul's 2025 state of the state speech that will come up next month. if approved, those checks will start going out in thal of next year and estimated $500 to families making $3 million and $1,000 to individuals making $150,000 or less. unprecedented revenue for sales tax expects to return some of that cash back to middle class families and critics say hochul has done nothing to help new yorkers deal with sky high prices up to now and plan to send out checks, nothing more than a vote buying effort as
