10 year term, and after weeks of careful thought i decided the right thing was for me to serve until the end of the current administration in january and then step down in terms of how we do the work we've got to maintain our independence staying above partisanship and politics. when you look at it liz, he didn't have much of a choice. he is a republican. he was appointed by president donald trump back in 2017 after trump fired then-fbi director james comey. wray took over during an incredibly tumultuous time at the bureau warning about china and iran sounding the alarm before it became popular in the intel and law enforcement community. he was also known, liz, for calling every police department across the country when an officer died in the line of duty. to the future now, kash patel, the trump-nominated fbi director and former aid to trump, he has been on capitol hill last week. he's on capitol hill this week. he told one of our producers that he is ready to go on day one and he will ensure a

mind, they weaponized the department against political opponents, stonewalled congress, and i think its been a miserable tenure for wray and he did well to resign because he was going to get fired and now cash patkashpatel will get all 53 ren votes to get confirmed has quite the job in front of him to reform the fbi but i think he's the man for the job. he's got incredible talent and i think he's got incredible results so he is the man for the hour and i think we will see the fbi hopefully reformed into what it should be upholding the rule of law instead of being a political weapon against opponents. liz: politico is reporting time magazine is naming trump the man of the year and ring the bell at the new york stock exchange tomorrow. we know inflation did tick up. trump has a lot of work to do. he's going to move fast, reuters is saying, to immediately wipe out biden's policies within hours of taking power on his first day of something like 25 executive orders. the cnn polling is reporting

that, you know, the majority of americans like what trump is doing, like the transition, cnn also reporting that jb pritzker and the resist trump push is failing and nobody is signing up, only one governor, so when you see all of this senator john thune is saying he's going to move fast on the trump agenda, do you think that will happen? >> i was encouraged by senator thune's comments he wants to push the agenda. it's an aggressive agenda they have in front of them. listen, senator thune is getting the memo. donald trump was elected as a change agent by the american people. he needs his various change agents like kash, pete, all of these people, his nominees to be confirmed as quickly as possible and they need to be supporting him in his agenda and i know on day one, liz, some of those executive orders will be dealing with shutting down the border immediately and then get to the hard work of securing the border and deporting the hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants with criminal

records and one of the other things they want to get cracking on is energy independence so i know that they will be doing these things to actually increase lng production, drilling on federal lands and off the u.s. shores so i'm excited to see what trump will do in a aggressive way in january but this is why the american people elected him and he's giving the american people optimism and hope for the future and that's why i think you're seeing high approval ratings. liz: ned ryun you're a pleasure to have on good to see you, thanks for joining us. >> thanks liz. >> if it is him, the fact that he's a professed uni- bomber fan is unsettling. i might venture that it's even more unsettling that donald trump's reported choice to run the atf is also a self-professed fan of the unibomber. >> i'll say it over and over. violence is negotiating never t.

needs investigated. >> alvin bragg came into this office with his day one memo which was wrong in so many different ways saying he would not prosecute resisting arrests saying he would not, he would treat certain felonies as misdemeanors which is not his role. >> i don't mean to get political but these are their policies that have clearly not worked, that the people, the general population are not in support of, yet their egos are too big to admit that they're wrong. liz: you know what? people pay taxes, right? they expect to be made to feel safe. people do not feel safe. they feel like you're on your own under this biden white house and under democrats running cities. >> yeah, one of the major reasons donald trump just won the election was because he said he's going to bring back public safety and let's remember, another reason that he won is because people don't like being told what you're feeling is not actually true. people don't feel safe. they want to feel safe and that's why they are choosing folks like donald trump to lead and they are going to change
