their states on the border, crime, reforming schools, away from left-wing ideologies, giving more power the parents' rights. what's the issue? if they need to get tax cuts front9 and center. >> well, of course. and, you know, larry kudlow and i and others helped design that tax cut back in 2017. it was a huge success. and one of the problems we're running into, liz, that i wanted to mention to you is that we've got this score from the congressional budget office that says it's going to cost $4.5 federal to extend the tax cuts, is craziness because we know from the first six years of the tax cut it didn't revenue because of the positive effect it had on the economy. more businesses, more people working, higher wages. the government got more revenue. so how can this cost -- elizabeth: you know, for years, the cbo analysis for years has been discounted for generations. but, steve, the real problem is spending fights.

been extremely active in pushing people towards criminal conduct. we saw those allegations raiseed in the michigan case involving the governor there. the treatment of these sources are also going to be the a subject of continued debate. this is the department that had someone announce they were going to do a shock and awe a, they were going to go after everyone they could to deter future misconduct. and for these three, there was a lot to less shock and i awe involved in how they were treated. elizabeth: that was jonathan turley questioning why the january 6th fbi inform minutes were not charged -- informants while 1500 others were arrested. joining us now, nypd inspector paul mauro. paul, it's great to see you. help us out here if you can. you're the expert here. the justice department inspector general confirmed there were no fbi workers in the january 6th crowd, but there were more than two dozen confidential human sources, 26 of them.

4 go into the capitol, they were not charged or prosecuted. the fbi assigned just 3 overall to be there. what is happening here? people are asking questions about. >> so let's make a distinction. you know, the fbi agents that would be undercover are distinct from the confidential human sources that they're talking about here which are essentially flips. they're people that they have some leverage on. ultimately, they do end up paying hem. that's the general routine because it's the most dependable way to keep people doing what you want. what's disturbing is the vast majority of them, over 20, went there at their own behest. that's not to 4:you -- how you run a source. you can't have sources assigned to you who are supposed to have handlers, agents directing their activities, etc., if they go running off to something like this, well, then they're doing it on their own. you have to say who's running them, who's supervising them,

and is there reporting? they're not being directed, they're just acting independently as assets. that stuff becomes very problematic if and when you go to a prosecution which is, of course, what happened here. so at the very least, this was a really shoddy-run operation. and at most, at most it argues that that there was some willful blindness here as to how some of these assets were operating. elizabeth: yeah. i mean, the doj inspector general report is emphasizing none of the sources were authorized or directed by the bureau to break the law or encourage others to commit illegal acts, but we don't know what these sources actually did on the ground. four informants entered the capitol hill building, 13 entered restricted grounds. the doj found money of the informants were authorized to do any of this, but they did it. the i.g. report also says the fbi assets warned that violence was coming. but critics are asking why didn't they do more to stop

that? we've heard reports that nancy pelosi knew violence was coming and didn't do enough. that's been the criticism of her. that's been disputed. what do you make of all this? >> you know, what is the point of having sources if you're not going to use them to ascertain, hey, there's violence coming, okay? a big part of this whole thing is the fact that there was supposedly planned violence. these people were ready and able to go in to breach the capitol building, etc. well, then what were the sources doing if they weren't reporting that back to you? and i'll tell you something that's even more troubling to me, liz, and i have this from a source of my own, you know, somebody i know through media, but she tells me that the cry tier a ya for making the arresto scroll through the video, this was after the event. and if your foot touched the capitol steps, you were good to go. remember, a lot of these charges were trespasses. and while hamas is doing what they're doing, we have all this

what are you hearing about the response out of washington about this? >> well, in our town, you know, i will tell you around this northern morris county area it's gotten a little more spotty. they're not as common as they were every night in every town. a last night my town was very quiet. other towns near me were abuzz with activity. i would say this, i would say that mr. kirby just called the security people at the arsenal liars, the ocean county sheriff's department liars and the state police of new jersey. in his statement he said it has never been corroborated by officials. our federal military facility did a press release saying they believe they've had up to 16 different encounters with drones. ocean county sheriff's department has said the same thing, that they actually tried to chase them with a drone. i think that was a couple of

days ago. and then, of course, mr. bergen referred to the state mis' statement. -- police's statement that. we got from colonel callahan of the state police who is the most credible guy in the state of new jersey. and i don't understand why mr. kirby would say all three of those entities are not telling the truth. i don't think he wants to deal with it. elizabeth: who do you think is flying them? >> boy, do i in the want to speculate on that one. but i -- there is a bigger and bigger part of me that thinks that this is some kind of a publicity stunt, for lack of a better way the say it. they don't hide. they come out about now and they go until 11 at night, 12 at night according to state police. i saw one the the other morning at 5:15 in the morning, before day break, and they're not hiding anything. part of me thinks that it may be some kind of military contractor who wants to popularize their drones. they may be some company with super high-tech or something
