cut out letters on construction paper. we are following the dow trying to stop a 10 day losing streak. it could stop that at 10 today. the bounce back is not convincing. in the meantime and that would include santa, a few days away, a strike by some teamsters workers, those working for amazon saying enough is enough, give us a break and do it now or things could look dicey on christmas day. what is going on here? >> strike here at amazon center, strikers behind me, develop into this morning, police put up barricades, and very importantly keeping the driveway where the amazon

trucks pool in and out open and clear, allowing trucks to get in and out during this important delivery time. video from earlier to disrupt the deliveries in new york city. protesters on the sidewalk which is permissible, blocking all the traffic, only letting one car and truck, trucks are backed up, and one of the drivers, and onto the street, then he refused to drive further because he was blocking the roadway and refused to move, he was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. we have video of a second arrest, another protester blocking traffic again, he was also arrested. so far there have been two arrests. there's not been violence but

there's been hundreds of protesters here. they are asking amazon to recognize them. and asking for better pay, benefits and safety. take a look. this is happening across seven locations. thousands of workers. teamsters saying they won't stop until something changes. i've asked people on the ground to keep going until they get a response. amazon responding to fox business saying, quote, for more than a year the teamsters have continued to intentionally mislead the public claiming they represent thousands of amazon a poison drivers, they don't and this is another attempt to push a false narrative. back out here live, the folks i talked to say they've not been coerced to join teamsters. this is something they willingly have done and brought more drivers under their fold. we are a week away from christmas. will this keep going until

christmas day and the workers tell me they will keep protesting until their demands are met. neil: the general president, got to wonder why now at christmas time, could this have been put off until after the holiday? >> we've been dealing with this for 21/2 years. enough is enough. workers have spoken, chosen the teamsters to represent them, made attempts to sit down and bargain with amazon. amazon has a reproof -- refused continuously to say what we are doing is illegal which is not illegal. collective-bargaining is all about leverage and this is our leverage, our pinch market.

neil: you are leveraging santa. santa would be disgusted in the behavior amazon has been engaging in over the last several years, they don't respect their workers or who maximum the success they are. neil: i understand these differences, the highest retail workers in the country. some of these fees, going back to the timing of this and a lot of amazon customers, it is christmas and a good many americans will see their presence deal laid if they are presents get there at all. >> they can divert them to accompany, it is unfortunate. neil: they have six days to do that. >> 365 days a year getting

abused by amazon. we have to set an example. neil: was going on that they are getting abused? they are getting beaten? >> they are getting beaten on the job. they have the most violations if you do the fact check, not getting paid accordingly, getting paid through a scam. they are not being paid a livable wage, minimal benefits and it is a disgrace that shouldn't be allowed to happen. this company is worth $2 trillion. lauren: 1 heard from a reporter that this isn't about workers who are angry but the teamsters trying to get a leg in and a leg up with a company that has been sucking them dry for money. what do you say? >> we are not looking to suck anything out of any company.

amazon should sit down and bargain in good faith. they know what bargaining is. they squeeze small businesses every day and if they don't concede to their demands, what do they do? they don't deliver their product and force them out of business. we will make certain they treat their workers accordingly. stuart: this is a huge disruption for the holiday season. i am wondering have you talked to donald trump about this. something like this could be disturbing if it lasts into his inauguration. >> i've not talked to donald trump. i reached out to the mayor of new york, we have a problem in new york, the only politicians i have talked to where police are not allowing members a constitutional right to pick it. i don't blame the nypd. i blame the command staff and

leadership in new york, we have a right to pick it, we are doing it lawfully. i don't blame the rank and file but it is telling on how much influence amazon has in new york. do they promise the police something? we have a constitutional right and should be allowed to do it. neil: last i heard this was targeted in california, new york, illinois, and georgia, could it be more widespread than that? >> this is nationwide and global situation. we have our brothers and sisters in germany that are going to strike today or tomorrow. it's not just the united states but a global issue how amazon treat their workers. neil: you have donald trump coming in in 5 or 6 weeks. i'm wondering you were very

instrumental, is getting elected in the first place, not that you backed him but didn't back anybody but that was unprecedented for big union not to go with the democrat and a lot of people interpreted that that there were good many of your members, a majority that supported donald trump. i am just wondering how you would handle potential strikes in a trump administration? >> that is up to the administration. i've been clear with any and all administrations, the biden administration, a lot of contentious negotiations this is a fight between the teamsters union representing amazon employees versus amazon, white-collar crime syndicate. it is our fight and the neighborhood i grew up in if two were fighting, didn't have anything to do with it, keep walking. if there's a resolution any administration wants to put forth and hold this company accountable we will embrace it but until the bad behavior stops we will continue to grow and mobilize and extend.

neil: what does amazon have to do to end this tomorrow? >> that the law. neil: what's the number one issue you would like to resolve? >> to treat these employees with dignity and respect. and every company in the same business. we set industry standards with united parcel service. and treat their employees accordingly. neil: this is an opening salvo on the part of the teamsters at these facilities but to get into amazon a largely nonunion shop and make it a union shop.

>> $17 million in 2,023 to fight the union. if they invest in that money and workers, there will always be cenex but we represent workers and we represent workers that have to put up with the abuse. we are going to continue the fight. neil: any parting words of advice, democratic administration, democrats had a tough go of it in the election. you are very frank, not wanting to meet with you but i'm curious what you make of what they should do now. >> they have a couple weeks left, they claim they want the picket line. no one has walked a picket line. we have president biden, aoc,

some moderate republicans think elon musk and donald trump threw him under the bus. the president-elect says mike johnson will be fine as long as he doesn't cut a deal with the democrats, and a strong decisive deal but we don't know what that looks like him. a. we have certain republicans in the house indicated already that he will not vote for mike johnson. he can only lose one vote on january 3rd and a couple days ago probably thought things were fine for mike johnson but it devolved, see how long this conflict goes on and if there's a shut down, see if he can pull a rabbit out of the hat and read deem himself with some quarters, it may be elon musk but otherwise that is a real struggle. the problem is democrats have

market especially with those handful of tech names, and we don't know if the civilization is going to pass. the fed as stock talked about raising their inflation expectations, and there's nothing wrong with that. other places you can put it to work, they are consolidating, we like industrials. trend names put it to work in a better place in your portfolio. neil: no matter what the fed

does, and long-term rates go further and further back, >> the fed is on the wrong size. when the fed started cutting. 50 basis points and the day they cut, the 50 point move, the 10 year rocketed up. and some other borrowing rates. as victoria pointed out, rates are flat or going down, something is fishy and don't like what we are seeing even though we have a balance today. neil: is not over yet. >> at the september meeting, making slow moves to the

neutral rate. we have 1-25 basis rate cut and the places we are significantly closer to neutral. it's telling me we've been much closer to neutral at this time, the fed has been willing to acknowledge. we don't have to lower rates as much as they kept signaling that. that's a surprise they had yesterday. 50 basis points less then 2020, rates are higher for longer and going to have to find a way to adjust to that especially the housing market which is one of the areas we see comeback in order to have a sustainable bull rally. neil: rolling in the deep you and me. neil: in the meantime we are trying to get a sense of what's happening with elon musk and vivek ramaswamy cutting

as legislation moves forward. neil: i know you try to be bipartisan but doesn't worry when the president-elect says get rid of the debt ceiling altogether entirely? i am wondering, does that complicate things? >> an interesting issue because the debt ceiling is important to many people, a way to focus on the fiscal situation and demand the attention of policymakers but it has to be raised in the consequences of not would be catastrophic. so it is both, certainly focuses attention and from my perspective anything that focuses attention on the difficulty of the fiscal challenge is welcome. even when it's difficult as we see the situation now. neil: we have elon musk and vivek ramaswamy combining forces.

there are a lot of congress men and women who say all well and good but that is what congress is supposed to do, not these guys, they worry about the precedent you could be setting. what do you think? >> there's many members of congress focused on this issue. we work for the budget committees in both budget committees, both chambers, both sides have the fiscal situation in their sites. from my perspective, and on the outside, and the big picture is welcome, >> ferreting out where the waste might be.

the federal reserve cut another quarter point this year. they might not do as many. they have been backing up, it doesn't take much to get that out of control, how much is, they are rising right now, how much more expensive does it make that debt? >> the fiscal risk that of long-range continues to rise. and that's the fiscal challenge, and we see inflation

coming down over the next year over the next 2 or 3 years but slowly as the fed put it up yesterday. neil: i'll liken it to a homeowner who wants to refinance home equity loans the ability, what do you do in an environment like this. >> the incoming, treasury secretary besson would face this, it's longer-term debt presents the funding crunchers, if it gets steeper, that has a cost to it. it can maintain a relatively smooth composition of debt. it expanded radial fashion and everything goes out. keeping a market stable.

if he is confirmed he would have to consider it. neil: you are a key player in washington. i am wondering, in this environment where we could be looking at tariffs next year, very pricey tariffs, there are all sorts of inflation implications from that as well and i am wondering, have you written numbers on the back of the app can -- napton? >> thank you. we put an analysis recently requested from us, senator schumer and senator whitehouse, illustrative tariffs on everything and 50 percentage points. that raises a lot of revenue, $2 trillion.

strike could disrupt that six days of christmas. madison alworth following it all in queens, new york. >> 7 locations including when in queens where thousands of amazon drivers, teamster workers with amazon walking out on the job today protesting. a lot of left this location because of the barricades behind me. earlier they were able to march up and down the street. with these barricades up, the trucks from amazon are able to get easily in and out, not disrupting the traffic flow anymore but you see the protest really at its height. workers marking in front, back and forth, only letting up one amazon truck through every 2 to 3 minutes, but even though they were largely peaceful there were two arrests this morning,

>> i would like to see better pack, holidays don't get paid, to stay home on holidays. i have a 9-year-old and my daughter needs me. we need better pay, better safety. safety is number one with amazon. we don't drive safe vehicles, always something going on and overall we want respect to. >> reporter: this is day one. how long does it go? they are willing to go as long as necessary. this is being impacted right here with the slow flow of trucks. almost definitely, how big. neil: it's not settled by christmas it could go on forever. no urgent deadline.

neil: other deadline that fast approaching, this could shut down the united states government if they don't come to an agreement, what are we talking about, trying to get some sort of a budget deal. where does that stand? >> reporter: senate republicans are trying to figure out a way out of this mess. i don't think anyone on capitol hill had shut down on their christmas list but that may be what they get if they can't work out a deal in 48 hours the government will shut down. it seems like democrats are not eager to bail out republicans. they would rather blame them. >> americans don't get disaster relief or get social security checks, that on the republicans. >> reporter: there is still time to make a deal, democrats control the senate and with a thin margin in the house if no

democrats vote with republicans to avoid a shutdown that makes speaker johnson's job close to impossible. >> there is one person that can control the republican caucus, the united states house of representatives right now, and that is donald trump. if he wants to do something on the debt limit we need to find out what it is and put it in the bill and or the president has to help mike sell it in the house. >> reporter: republicans had. admit concerns about the cr brokered with democrats, wasn't a straightforward status quo funding extension to keep the government open. it used disaster aid for hurricane victims as a trojan horse stuffed with special perks for lawmakers and democratic wish list like a raise for lawmakers and exempt and for members so they weren't forced to use obamacare and other unnecessary and unpaid for new spending but the way the deal blue up with threats from elon musk on his platform
