this. house gop lawmakers have struck a spending deal to avoid a shutdown plus the big one. they are pushing to extend the debt sealing for two years so trump can more rapidly move on the mandate voters gave him to fix america, stop inflation. the inflation has been stuck above the federal reserve's 2% target for 24 straight months. mike emanuel joins us live from the white house. mike, what's the latest? great to see you. reporter: liz, great to see you. with the clock ticking house republicans are out with a new proposal let's take a look at the key points. a clean three-month continuing resolution to keep the government up and running. a clean farm bill package. disaster package as negotiated with democrats to a tune of $110 billion, and that two-year suspension of the debt limit to january 2027. president-elect trump offering this reaction on truth social. "success in washington speaker mike johnson and the house have come up with it for a very good deal for the american people."

the newly-agreed to american relief act of 2024 will keep the government open, fund our great farmers and others and provide relief for those severely impacted by the devastating hurricanes. a very important piece vital to the america-first agenda was added as well. the data the very unnecessary debt sealing will be posted out two years to january 30, 2027. now we can make america great again very quickly which is what the people gave us a mandate to accomplish. all republicans and even the democrats should do what is best for our country and vote yes for this bill tonight. some democrats expressed frustration about the initial deal being derailed. >> we had a deal. we initiated a deal, and then musk decided to change the deal. should i call him president musk. >> with president biden out of the sight and the mix a key senate republican said us time to deliver what president-elect trump wants.
5:06 pm
>> i think the next effort will be a much lienor cr, if the president wants to include the debt limit, we'll include the debt limit, but president trump's going to have to get involved. reporter: now, we wait to see if house democrats will get on board with this new funding package. liz? liz: mike emanuel thank you so much great to see you. >> thank you. >> this bill right here would add hundreds of billions of dollars to the deficit and the worst part is it's all for dem priorities. why would you saddle donald trump with this terrible spending bill before he even gets into office? it's a horrible plan. i can't believe that republican leadership ever cooked it up. clearly they didn't talk to trump about it and i tell you what. we need to have a serious look at whose leading this congress because if this is the best they could do, it's total incompetence. liz: that was gop senator josh

hawley slamming the first continuing resolution that got bogged down with inflationary pork and spending. let's bring in from house judiciary congressman jeff van drew. so, congressman, it's a pleasure, wonderful to see you again, merry christmas and happy hanukkah to everybody. is the government headed into a shutdown? can house republicans get this through without democrats, just get it done, because trump is really liking the pushback against for two years on the debt sealing, in order for him to do his agenda. do you guys need house democrats on this or are all republicans on board to get this done? >> hey, i always tell the truth and i am concerned, because when you have a majority as narrow as the one that we have, you never can say that it's a lock. i am hoping that everybody comes together. look, let me be straightforward. i'm a conservative. i don't even love this cr. the last one was awful. i came out immediately before anybody did and said that there's no way, no how i was voting for it. that was a bad deal.
5:08 pm
liz: will you vote for this one? >> i am going to vote for this one because i want to give the president the room to be able to do what he needs to do as we go into january. we need some space. we need some room. do i love this , even like it? no. i don't like some of the spending that's in that cr, but the president has asked us to come together to get this done, to not shutdown government because we hurt people like our coast guard and then to move forward. next year, we need 12 real appropriations bills. next year, we really need to make the cuts that we need to make. not on good things, on the wasteful, fluff, and garbage put in these bills year after year. next year we need to be able to work at a balanced budget to have a real change and a real shake-up and the good way in america. liz: so, here is the thing. i mean, speaker johnson, according to trump, and republicans, they need to move decisively, be tough, get rid and avoid all the traps being
5:09 pm
set by democrats. trump is saying that will economically destroy our country. they are trying to tangle up trump's agenda like tax cuts in spending fights, so are there any house republicans opposed to this new spending deal? >> we're going to see when the vote comes up tonight. liz: do you hear that though? >> there are some and i'm not going to contribute it to anybody absolutely that have mumbled they have real concerns and they don't like this either. at the end of the day, will they do the right thing and vote for it? i would hope they would. i understand what they're saying, as a fiscal conservative i'm concerned as well, but the president has asked for this. we've got to give him a break. we've got to give him some space so that when he is sworn into office we can immediately go to work to make it better. liz: congressman jeff van drew pleasure to have you on thanks, good to see you. >> thank you. >> well there's a lot to cut but i'm going to warn you i have republican colleagues who would rather run over their own mom
5:10 pm
with a car than to vote to cut spending, so, first trick is going to come up with a list of things to cut. i would cut everything that's redundant. every state in the united states has a department of education. why do we need a federal department of education? cut out some of this foreign aid. oh, my gosh. it's like, you know, funding these other countries is like watering your neighbor's yard while your house is on fire. >> [laughter] >> when sunlight is put on these, when now elon and vivek talk about it and members of congress when we look at the bills the american people don't like what they see. >> the american people are paying zero attention to any of this , zero. liz: really, zero? i mean, trump just won a mandate. he won all of the seven swing states. he got a ton of votes because voters are saying you got to stop inflation. government spending is causing inflation but that
5:11 pm
was msnbc claiming the american people not paying attention to inflationary over spending in government. let's welcome to the show america majority ceo ned ryun. what do you think of what you just heard from chris haze there? >> well that's insane. of course the american people are watching. they are watching the government spending being out of control. they are looking at a $36 trillion debt. i believe, liz, our annual interest payments on that debt are reaching about $1 trillion. i mean, this level of spending is out of control. it's unsustainable, and so i'm very happy with what took place. that was not a cr. that first version of that bill was a mini omnibus, they smeared lipstick on it trying to call it a cr. i'm deeply ashamed of the house republican leadership they tried to pull this on the american people, quite frankly tried to pull it on donald trump, and i appreciate what elon and vivek did and others to highlight what a disaster that bill was, and the thing, liz, that was about a
5:12 pm
1,500 page bill. this new cr, 116 pages. about 1,400 pages of pork and censorship and unnecessary things were pulled out of that bill but mike johnson is a weak and miserable excuse for a speaker. he should never have even let that first version come anywhere near the public. liz: democrats are really mad they lost, right? trying to destroy trump's honeymoon right now, so what's going on right now is as you point outlook at what representative nancy mace pointed out and elon musk whose shining lights on. we hear the criticism. it's president elon musk and so forth. they are shining lights on the cr wanted to redefine things like violent criminals call them justice involved individuals including murders and rapists and there was all sorts of things loaded in there. $3 million to expect molasses, things like that, so it was difficult for people to say, you just need to keep the government open and running. what does that have to do with
5:13 pm
that? i mean so the focus on elon musk with spotlights and what he's trying to do with the pork spending it is an issue. it's inflation and taxation, over spending causes that. >> it is. correct. i mean, government spending, out of control government spending is another tax on the american people on a whole host of fronts, but i think the american people need to understand. first of all they did vote for change. donald trump is a change agent but they voted for we're not doing this any more. we are not putting up with the status quo. the greatest enemies for doge being successful, not the democrats. it's members of congress, republican members of congress, we have seen the enemy and we know who they are. it is republicans who think we're going to continue with the status quo. liz: yeah, i mean, trump, they are saying elon musk saying he's going to fund trying to primary candidates who go up against the need to cut spending. trump is saying that too. house republicans are voting tonight. we'll see who peels off or supports it.
5:14 pm
ned ryun thank you for joining us good to see you. >> thanks liz. >> there is so much misinformation, disinformation as we've been talking about, you talked about the video the president wandering and it's not true, right? the president wasn't wandering. he was talking to a parachuter that was right in front of him. liz: remember that the biden white house press secretary democrats, the media. they kept repeatedly claiming biden was totally competent to serve a short-term but the new york times reports he was not. the "wall street journal" and a new bombshell reveals the biden white house and his aids covered up biden's decline right from the start. tonight, you'll want to hear joe concha's reaction to all that. this is the biggest falsehood of all. the cherry on top of a pile of biden's long-running script of falsehoods covering up his decline. also tonight this. >> inflation is coming now. >> the fact is that we have seen inflation coming down. >> inflation is reliably coming

5:25 pm
this one man has defeated not just in this case but i think he will prevail in the two new york cases, the alvin bragg and the letitia james cases which were prosecutions and civil cases that have never been used. that fact pattern has never been used against a u.s. citizen ever in the history of this country, so not only is this a story of one man defeating the lawfare complex. the bigger story is democrats undertook this lawfare campaign under the theory they were protecting democracy but the public faith in the judicial system as a result after these cases is that the lowest level ever and the idea that the democrats and the left use the legal system, not just in this case, in a way that looks to have been corrupt but in the two new york cases again, cases fact patterns that have never been used against a u.s. politician, or a u.s. citizen. you combine that sort of with the ballot access case where the democrats tried to keep

trump off the ballot and what these cases have actually done is they've undermined democracy. they have undermined the rule of law. they have undermined it in the sense that these were clearly political applications of the law to which we don't know where that ends, and the irony of all of this is not only has one man defeated it but the democrats have really hurt the rule of law and the democratic institutions in a much more significant way, mostly because of their morals and when you moralize and you sort of demonize the other side, you stop thinking rationally and that's what's happened to the left. liz: you get caught up in emotion and ambition. i mean, fani willis has a trail of wreckage in georgia. you know, this was a complex case, the trump case. she has a history of filing numerous overly-broad buck shot racketeering cases that are a stretch and an over reach. i mean, defense lawyers in georgia call fani willis overly ambitious. they have called it icarus.
