making a comeback, up $3,000 last time we checked, same story up 3000 $97,282. now this. one democrat strategist telling the new york times democrat brand is in the toilet, there's no clear message and no clear leader before donald trump takes office. meantime in politico, one person likened the democrats to an ostrich because they've got their heads in the sand and are absolutely committed to their own ideas even when they are failing. kayla mcgee white joins me to talk about this. is there no clear leader right now among the democrats? >> i think there is a clear leader, just from the left side with a party which is the problem, there's a clear message, the problem is just that americans rejected it but the democratic brand is in the toilet because they've embraced things that are inherently anti-american. the woke language policeing, the burdensome regulations, the

nanny state like control over individual choices americans make, this election was a rejection of that. if you think back to 2016 the election results, donald trump won at the time, largely seen as a rejection of hillary clinton as a bad candidate. this time it was bigger than that, voters rejected the entire democratic party apparatus. i think many of the voters i talked to in michigan who said they were voting for trump not because they agreed with everything he said but they were so repulsed by what the democratic party had become. until democrats realize their agenda is the problem, their party has become the problem they will continue to lose. ashley: they haven't learned the lesson from the election. talk about this one. senator rand paul expose president biden's spending spree in his 10th annual report that shows more than one trillion dollars in government waste just this year alone. watch this.

>> a lot of problems with big spenders in both parties but everywhere you look you find more of this stuff. $1 trillion, we found a lot of waste but it is everywhere in all the big departments. it is in nih, the national science foundation and people wonder why does it exist every year, the department of doge, are they going to get rid of it? the only way is to spend less money. ashley: that is true and millions of dollars spent on drag shows, pickle ball courts, the kind of stuff elon musk and vivek ramaswamy are going to be taking aim at. >> a depressing way to start the season if you are united states taxpayer but i'm glad senator rand paul continues to do this report because it is important for americans to grasp how irresponsible and wasteful with our money our lawmakers have become and you are right, doge is very

important and has an important role to play in the incoming trump administration but an important point rand paul doesn't do a good job highlighting is this funding, this wasteful money is approved from somewhere and that somewhere is congress, the lawmakers approved these funding packages and these programs, that is where this has to start. it starts with us, the american taxpayers holding our lawmakers feet to the fire on how they are spending our money. ashley: the more you know the more you hate it. i want to get to this one too, president biden getting backlash after he commuted the death sentences of 37 federal death row inmates days before christmas. it included a career criminal who fatally shot two female bank employees multiple times including one of the victims he hunted down as she hid under a desk. listen to this. >> two days before christmas, i

can only imagine the grief and shock these families are experiencing as they get ready for the holidays remembering the loved ones that were lost and having to deal with this insult to injury. i think he is cementing his status as one of the worst presidents in american history certainly the side of woodrow wilson. >> he made that choice that day, a crime punishable by the death penalty. 12 jurors unanimously voted for the death penalty. that is what was spared and biden took that away from us. ashley: wise he doing this? >> there's a question of whether it is joe biden or his staffers in the question of his competence here but let's say it was joe biden, for whatever reason feels convicted about the federal death penalty. that point the george just made is so important because what biden is doing in this case is

undermining confidence in the criminal justice system. these cases went before a jury of the criminal's peers, they were then decided by a judge to apply the appropriate sentencing in those cases. biden does not get to come in and undermine the american people's resolve in these cases. at the total abuse of the pardon power and a final slap to the american people on his way out the door. ashley: thank you so much for joining us on christmas eve and merry christmas to you and your family. let's go back to the markets and bring in our good friend scott schelladdy, the markets moving slightly higher today but let's take a step back. what are your thoughts for stock performances in the new year? >> member john chambers? oracle? he has been touting this tech, hard to get in the way of what he's got to say.

with a i, infiltrating in 2025 a lot more than it already has, you will hear the death of a i, some pullback, it's going to be pretty volatile but it will drag the market up because i really do believe he says he think that is going to be not just bigger than the internet but bigger than the internet and cloud computing combined. i believe we are still in the beginning of that and if that's the case it is hard to argue with. anything could happen but it's hard to argue with what he's talking about. you will hear the death of a i a bunch of times in 2025 but i think it's the place to be. hard to argue you've got deutsche bank and a few others, the s&p, 7100, 7200 level which would be 10% to 15% better the next year and if that's the case it will have to get used to higher rates because the 10 year yield has only gone up

since we cut federal funds rates by 100 basis points so a lot of getting to know each other, these rates, higher stock prices, that's not normally the case. ashley: exactly. i have to ask about bitcoin. so many people on this show in the last week looking at one hundred 50, two hundred thousand next year. what your thoughts on this? >> i think it will be really volatile because of the dollar. bitcoin is anti-dollar. if you don't believe in the dollar you will believe in bitcoin. if you don't like the dollar but if the government and trump said this too, standing by the dollar, more of this trade to get used to each other here, bitcoin and the dollar are two totally different things, if you don't trust the government

you will be in bitcoin. if you think it is great you will be the dollar, interested to see how they get along, there will be some headbutting. only 5% to 10% and slowly lose. if you haven't gotten the message, might have to run to get along, it will be a bumpy ride. ashley: kumbaya moment from scott schelladdy. >> merry christmas. ashley: now this. starbucks workers strike is expected to expand to 300 floor today, 5,000 workers expected to walk off of the job. it is christmas eve.

alicia, today is the last day of the strike. >> reporter: we have to wait and the see them at the bargaining table, negotiators are out a standstill, we are outside the closed starbucks in denver, one of the locations that is shut down and they are among with staff represent by starbucks workers, 10,000 but restarts and shift supervisors across the country. the goal was to get one done by low end of this year. $20 an hour and company paid healthcare, they want more predictable schedules which help workers eligible for benefits. one shift supervisor in burbank told us the job is demanding

physically and can be emotionally grueling. >> starbucks takes an emotional toll. a lot of customers are difficult to deal with and hard not to go home at the end of the night at be playing over these interactions over and over. >> 97% of starbucks stores are not unionized. the majority of locations, the company says unions current demands are not sustainable and it is ready to go to the negotiating table. the final day of the 5-day strike ahead of christmas, organizers tell us they chose the busy holiday so it would have the biggest impact on the coffee chain's bottom line. we expect workers to come to this location to begin the picket line.

morgan ortagus, great to have you here. syria is a country in frocks but this doesn't sound safe to christians at all. >> reporter: syria has been a civil war since 2013. even before that under the bashar al-assad regime, minorities in syria have often lived in terror because these are dictators. what has happened since 2013 is many christian sites were destroyed, fast forward the last few weeks when bashar al-assad fled to russia and hts taking over, a group that claims to be reformed. former al qaeda guys, all of us who have worked in the middle east are very concerned about isis being able to reemerge, when trump came in the last time he had to destroy physical caliphate of isis in iraq and

syria so this new group of islamists that have taken over the country wearing suits and ties, claiming they are going to protect christians, we have to take her wait and see approach. we should be pressing them to protect christian sites, to protect christians. it is urged the biden administration in the 11th hour of their presidency should not be relieving sanctions are taking away terror designations. they should be a carrot that the trump administration can wield when they take over in less then a month. neil: the white house says pakistan is taking a ballistic missile which could provide nuclear armed islamabad with a weapon capable of striking the united states. how worried should we be by this? >> we should always be

concerned when countries develop the capability to hit the united states with a nuclear weapon. look no further than north korea, they possess the ability to hit the homeland. the department of defense released a report that china went from 500 to 600 warheads in 2024, this is beyond the developing nuclear warheads to deter, this is to coerce and intimidate in the region so when you peel back the united states relationship with pakistan it wasn't long ago we designated pakistan as a major us non-nato ally. they were working with us on terrorism. since we withdrew from afghanistan there's been a little less counterterrorism relationship, the united states under the trump administration and biden administration focused on great power

spending, the days of spending only 2% of the nation's gdp on defense likely a bygone era. national leaders are coming after a report from the financial times that said donald trump pushing nato to increase requirements from 2% to 5%. not clear whether the plan would demand higher spending from all member nations like the united states, the us spends 3% of gdp but donald trump believes european nations should meet their nato defense spending obligations and step up their share of the burden for this conflict as the us paid significantly more which is not fair to our taxpayers. since russia invaded ukraine, 23 of 32 member nations spent 2% of their gdp on defense but there are some countries that have yet to meet the defense

spending commitment including croatia, portugal, italy, canada, belgium, luxembourg, sylvania, and spain but clearly these comments coming from the leaders understand time for european nations to do more. ashley: it is the trump affect. now this. state and local officials are taking action to prepare for a future potential drone threat. nate for a is in jersey city. what are they doing? >> they are trying to establish some system to deal with their own threats in the future. the drone mystery is cooling off. i spoke with new jersey state police, they had one reported drone siting down from 150 per night a short time ago but they are working to best deal with

your own threats and that is why 20 different law enforcement agencies met at rutgers university, a meeting called by readership in new jersey, new york, several states in canada as well. >> think what we are trying to do, put law enforcement together to see if we can't operate on a standard platform and protocols from the bar reporting from what we are looking for for authorities to detect and mitigate drones. >> reporter: since mid-november the mysterious drone sightings have been reported in 11 us states including new york but the nypd told fox news on friday that aside from a collection of possibly unauthorized drones in new jersey last month they haven't found anything irregular since. >> we have seen no anomalous drone activity in new york over

large-scale student loan relief programs. it closes the door on loan forgiveness and the remaining weeks of biden's term, grady trimble at the white house, what to these plans do and why were they canceled? >> they would have forgiven the student loan debt for 30 million borrowers but that is no more because the administration is running out of time. they announced the cancellation very quietly last week while a government shutdown, a lot of people heard about this, there are two main programs, student loan debt cancellation programs the biden administration has abandoned. the education department drop the targeted relief plan referred to as plan b, the supreme court struck down plan a, called off another, smaller effort. the education secretary said it made the move because of

operational challenges in implementing the proposals with time and resources running short in the last weeks of the current administration. democrats have been praising efforts to cancel student loan debt and even as recently as earlier this month they pushed for him to cancel even more. >> the biden administration to student loan forgiveness of any administration in american history. we are here today to demand the department of education deliver on president biden's commitment to debt relief and process all outstanding defense relief before donald trump slams the door shut on borrowers on january 20th. >> reporter: republicans have of different take a bill cassidy, ranking member of the health committee which covers education says biden's student loan schemes were always a lie

but they admit these schemes were nothing but a dishonest attempt to purchase votes by transferring debt onto taxpayers who paid their loans or chose to forgo college. as senator mark dagen: alluded to we don't know of plans by the trump administration to cancel student loan debt and the president-elect has called president biden's efforts bill legal. doesn't sound keen on canceling student loan debt. ashley: merry christmas to you in washington dc. bill cassidy had it right. basically nothing more than vote by anger. it is unfair to people who work hard to pay off their student loans especially taxpayers who never went to college. what's your take on this? >> that is so true. this is another example of

where biden struck out once again. you can make the argument there are people with student loans outstanding who took jobs in the public sector or nonprofits that are relatively low-paying and maybe they deserve a break but when you started out with this program where you were going to go ahead and forgive all student loan debt outstanding, i think that set up this whole program for the massive a failure that it has become. this is one more example of the pervasive incompetence of the biden administration. ashley: i want to get into this one. i am fascinated to know what you think, donald trump putting the world on notice for ripping off us taxpayers, he says us ownership of greenland is an absolute necessity and the panama canal should be returned to us control if panama doesn't drop high shipping fees, this

is right out of the trump pliable, you make big grandiose threats in order to negotiate better deals, what say you? >> i happen to agree with you on that point but how much will the average american taxpayer benefit from somewhat lower transportation rates on the panama canal? right now those rates are high, it costs a freighter $450,000 to go through the panama canal. likewise cruise ships but those are huge freighters that have a lot of cargo and i don't know how much room there is for rate cutting. the fun one has to be this proposed buyout of greenland. would this be the biggest lbo in history? i understand greenland is now valued at one. $7 trillion. given the fact the population

of denmark, denmark owns greenland, population of denmark is 6 million, that comes to about $240,000 for each danish citizen in exchange for selling greenland to the united states if trump is willing to pay $1.7 trillion. ashley: what would we do with it? strategically it is in a good place but other than that it is a frozen rock. >> it has a lot of minerals that are very important when it comes to electric vehicle, electrification, batteries and whatnot. instead of having to rely on china for these minerals we can instead produce of them in greenland and that is where the value of this one. $7 trillion price tag comes from. ashley: now i understand. thank you for being here on christmas eve. have your self a great

off and doing well but it does seem we are still seeing the effects of that, 1200 delays across airlines in the us, 28 cancellations so not doing too bad. looking at our 2024 holiday forecast, one word to describe it, busy, we are seeing record-breaking numbers, aaa forecasts 7 million people are going to be flying, 100 million people driving to their destinations. people searching for sunshine and warm weather, the most part of the domestic destinations to go to this year are in florida, that is orlando, miami, tampa. if you are watching from is there, hello. some people we spoke to this year, travelers hurting their wallet. >> definitely around 1200. not cheap at all. you got to do it to see family and everything. >> one hundred%, prices have gone up so much. >> to be honest i haven't

ashley: now this. conservative watchdog group america first legal putting officials at sanctuary cities on notice ahead of donald trump's expected mass deportation plans, he says there could be legal consequences for interfering with the fed or concealing illegal immigrants. texas public safety department lieutenant chris oliverez joins us. many century city officials are remaining defiant against trump's plans. you think it will backfire on them?

>> yes it is. one thing to put in context is any sanctuary city should cooperate with the current administration, home and made clear if anybody tries to get legal consequences even withholding federal funding for sanctuary cities. it is not a good cause to be defiant from the federal government. in new york, with devastating, horrific scene, setting a woman on fire, don't see how anybody would not want to focus on trying to cooperate with this new administration to apprehend and remove criminals. ashley: you would think so but common sense is not always available but i want to move on to this one.

the suspected ringleader behind that ride at the border in march finally being caught in iowa after seven months on the run. why did it take so long to find him? >> great question. we don't know, he's in custody with of the state but also goes back to how some of these individuals were released in west texas and el paso, great job in trying to prosecute these individuals but some of them were released and a comment made recently by the fed saying these were not considered public safety threats. don't know how you could watch the video and see how this a group of massive illegal immigrants coming across the fence just a writing laws, assaulting soldiers, have no respect for laws, that in
