addressed the nation on the deadly terror attack. >> president biden: the isis flag was found in his vehicle, possible explosives were sound in the vehicle as well. more explosives were found nearby. the situation is very fluid and the investigation is in a preliminary stage. the fact is right now, excuse me, there you go. ashley: again, president biden took no questions, froze once the teleprompter paused. it does not project, as we said earlier, strength and reassurance, does it? >> i don't mean any disrespect for senior citizens but when you are finishing high school and check out, it has been like this for years throughout the biden administration and we've
10:03 am
not had the feeling of confidence in our leaders for about four years and that is why whether republicans or democrats so many voted for donald trump because at the end of the day they want somebody who will project strength. democrats who voted for trump may not agree with his policies but at the end of the day they want somebody who is strong, who projects strength and is going get to make anybody who wants to do us harm have second thoughts about that because right now that doesn't seem to be the case. ashley: it doesn't. i have respect for the office of president but this is supposed to be the leader of the free world and it is hard to watch. the terror suspect has been identified as sebastian j jabbar. we have no idea whether he was driving it or the actual owner
10:04 am
of the truck but how do we stop our own citizens from becoming radicalized by terror groups? >> reporter: sewing strength through our leadership but when it goes beyond that we have decimated our law enforcement locally through the defined the policeman movement, we don't have as many years on the ground and when it comes to multinational agencies, the fbi and cia we decimated those by focusing on dei and parents's school board meetings. if we can return the focus to those agencies doing what they need to do and return the focus of local law enforcement, to do their job there's a greater chance that we can catch these rogue actors because they are communicating with somebody, that information is out there. and find those people. we know the rank and file of the fbi, cia, they want to catch the bad guys but often times they are hamstrung in

10:06 am
program and doesn't believe johnson has the votes. how do you think this plays out? >> a few days ago, the information from mar-a-lago, johnson is going to get it and that is part and parcel why donald trump issued that endorsement, i think at the end of the day trump's pressure, to financially primary these individuals who say no, that could be the game changer and people voted for republicans in charge of the house, senate and the presidency, if that gets the laid by a few weeks it will hurt them as soon as possible. that isn't what the nation voted for. ashley: this is a big test out of the chute for donald trump to rally the troops, get his ducks in a row.
10:07 am
>> it seems he has done that but you have thomas masseys of the world, i voted for the president but i don't want to speaker johnson to be speaker. who then? who is the alternative? i haven't had that name. >> to certify the donald trump election win, no one seems to know the answer. if we don't have a speaker, what happens next? >> president chuck grassley. if everything goes along that line, the it, i can't say it because i forgot because i haven't practiced law, chuck johnson generally becomes the president, chuck grassley becomes president. a fine guy, done a lot for the country. i don't think chuck grassley

economically sensitive managed care, ton of healthcare to have the market to stand fast and tall going into the new year, got to put lows and goes decent way to start that process. the market was lifted up in a big way to the end of the year by ten stocks being 55% of the nasdaq 100 and 8 stocks 36% of the s&p and those are mostly big mega, not sure they can continue to lead forever. if i can say we have a 3 to one advance to decline instead of 1 to 3, a few in the last month or so. ashley: as always you are watching of the 10 year yield like a hawk. it is down today which is a tailwind to equities.

truck that shamsud-din jabbar used and a several other ieds in different parts of the french quarter. we are getting conflicting information on if other individuals were involved in this attack, the attorney general says they have high confidence shamsud-din jabbar did not excellent but the police chief said she's not as certain of that. hopefully we will get more clarification in the next hour. we are learning more about shamsud-din jabbar. he is a us citizen born in texas, served 13 years in the u.s. army including a year-long deployment to afghanistan. he doesn't have much of a criminal record or history of violence and as far as any changes in his behavior recently that could suggest radicalization, a man who's married to shamsud-din jabbar's ex-wife told the new york times he had been acting erratically in recent months, so much so the couple stopped allowing the two daughters they share with

homeland security, fbi had them distracted over the past few years, they've been distracted from things like climate change. they have been distracted because of the number of threats toward donald trump. you had dhs people trying to protect donald trump, you saw secret service diplomatic security, they've been stretched to their limit. one of the reason they have been stretched to their limit ishis administration's bad iran policy. you may ask how this goes together. iran has been trying to kill donald trump and former trump cabinet officials on american soil. you've got the fbi, secret service, diplomatic security stretched already trying to protect people they normally wouldn't have to protect from getting assassinated plus you have people committed to domestic terrorism while you have these agencies focused on climate change, where these agencies are stretched thin. they've got to get back to
10:24 am
their original mission of protecting the homeland and don't forget these agencies are focused on the southern border now that we have these loan terrorists coming over the southern border, now that we have according to dhs rapists and murderers coming through, bad poli creates all these problems which makes fbi, makes all of these homeland security agencies vulnerable and stretched thin so this doesn't happen out of thin air. it happens from bad border policy, bad iran policy and all focused priorities from the biden administration in my opinion. ashley: you covered a lot of ground in that and shared a lot of your expertise which we appreciate. you have been telling us about this for some time and unfortunately what happened in new orleans showed it came home to roost. thanks for joining us. coming up, congress wants the

biden administration has been derelict in its duty, the congressional republicans, in the house and senate we have asked dhs under the biden administration about the correlation with terrorism and wide-open border coming here in droves and setting up potentially terrorist cells ringing the alarm. >> reporter: members want answers in person over a phone call, this briefing, the senator, josh ali, wants alejandro mayorkas and the fbi director christopher wray to testify as quickly as possible in an effort to figure out what went wrong, what did they miss? ashley: appreciate that. your reaction first. we saw that unfolded.
10:33 am
>> extremism can take group any time. anytime. christopher wray saying early this year since october 7th risk for terrorism is at a high and this is a tragic reminder. we need to think about the alleged terrorist in question from texas. this can happen anywhere and it shows how important security at home is an security abroad. a resurgence of isis is not out of the question especially as things are shaking up in the middle east. this points to the importance of maintaining a presence in syria and supporting the kurds in syria who have been faithful allies fighting isis alongside the us. ashley: a lot of criticism coming in from the biden administration for leaving the border wide-open, not focusing enough on those issues and going off on a tangent, do you think that is fair criticism?
10:34 am
>> it's too early to say of the border is related to this instance in particular but it creates a national security risk. the fbi has been saying raising the risk for terrorism, we've had terrorism list hits coming from the southern border so security is an issue when it comes to the border not just national security terrorism but crime as well, we are seeing rapes and attacks against migrants themselves and shelters. definitely security risk. ashley: let's shift topics, donald trump creditsarally, trump working at the mcdonald's during the campaign trl. trump said, quote, justin will continue to serve my external operation as executive producer for major events and public appearances. do you know what role the

this trance formation, what is it going to look like for a formerly free-market party to become a working party and i am curious to see what the messaging will look like too. ashley: hanging out the drive-through window, makes me laugh every time. big house speaker vote coming up tomorrow. can donald trump rally the troops, get the pressure on to get this accomplished? >> it is crucial that he does be that they need a united front especially with a slim majority going into the new administration. for the interest if they want to be passing legislation this is crucial. ashley: we will follow that tomorrow. great stuff as always, thanks for joining us today. okay. coming up, the new orleans terror suspect reportedly pledged his allegiance to isis in the social media videos.
10:37 am
we will dig deeper into the resurgence of isis in america and speaker mike johnson says he is confident today's sugar bowl in new orleans is secure. >> they see no direct correlation between a threat to the sugar bowl, no obvious evidence what happened less than 24 hours ago would pose any threat to the game. ashley: we are bringing you up-to-date information that is coming out of new orleans throughout the day and all morning long. we will be right back. sofi is helping me get my money right to achieve my ambitions. plus i'm investing in my game. sofi can help fund all your ambitions.

10:44 am
>> i did speak with donald trump personally, it is an issue, he understands what will happen on new york city, particularly its economy and in staten island and brooklyn, forced to pay thousands of dollars to another borough in which they live. >> reporter: right now this plan is ago. other cities will be watching. dc, miami, san francisco and los angeles are considering congestion pricing and they will consider how it plays out. the cameras are up, ready to go. all that needs to happen is for them to be switched on. any part that drives past 60th st. will be charged $9. that will happen for cars in lower manhattan through bridges and tunnels so for some drivers this will be thousands of extra dollars each and every year.

ashley: just what we need, another attacks in new york city. thanks for outlining what is at stake. bernie sanders said he would put forward legislation on a key trump proposal. what is this legislation? lauren: bernie sanders aligned with donald trump to interest rates at 10%. this is what senator sanders writes on x, donald trump proposed a 10% cap on credit card interest rates. great idea. let's see if he supports the legislation that i will introduce to do just that. americans are carrying incredibly high credit balances and the cost of paying interests are high, the average credit card rate is now over 24%. with americans holding one. $2 trillion in debt in debt for 2024. this christmas, you are paying off last christmas's that. not a good situation.

the ground. sheriffs were around the state sent additional resources. the fbi has been pouring resources into the city since yesterday. we are getting some more today as well. we are going to ensure that everyone involved in this horrific act of terrorism will be held accountable. ashley: former nypd inspector joins us. the fbi just confirmed they no longer believe other suspects were involved in the new orleans attack. are you surprised about that? >> i'm not surprised. somewhere commenting on the air yesterday alluded to the fact that the evidence that seemed to be supporting the idea he had accomplices was rather thin. it looks to have been based on
10:53 am
the fact that there's a video of a number of people walking up on and encountering a cooler which reportedly held some ied components, they were not active. they walk away from it. looks to me like they came upon it and thought it might have beer in it because it is a cooler on bourbon street. that seemed to be the basis for why they thought there were accomplices in the area but that leaves out a couple of hanging chads, you had two confirmed devices, pipe bombs with nails in them lamothe were planted in locations away from the site of the actual attack so you have to say to yourself, by definition, shamsud-din jabbar must've planted those himself, what was the plan to detonate them? draw law enforcement away? maybe at some point during flight from the incident? try to get to them so he had more weaponry which is a tactic
10:54 am
we've seen in other cities? still some open questions what went on relative to those other devices. ashley: more disturbing is the fact that he was a us citizen who served in the military for did a tour of duty in afghanistan. one thing to have a terrorist on the outside slip across the southern border but this is the enemy within. that is more than disturbing. would you say the threat is still there from other places, we have no idea? >> i've been overusing a line on the air and i will default to it again, the further we get from 9/11 the closer we get to 9-10. that really, for those of us who worked in this space for a long time, hyper aware of the fact the threat had not gone away at all. thankfully the public moved on for good, that is what you want to the public to do, we don't want ourselves to be hyperaware of this so that we can't live our lives, that's why it is
10:55 am
important the sugar bowl is going forward which is great. those of us who work in that space know that the threat has not gone away. we are in a period that is historical, these things move in the space of decades or centuries. the factor that we had than the gaza incident and the events of 7 october heightened that atmosphere. the threat hasn't gone away. the internal threat is still there. mechanisms to interdict it are still there. other measures that were put in place post 9-11 have to be utilized and muscular and energized and there's a feeling we've taken our eye off of the ball little bit especially at the federal level. 20 january comes when we go back on that ball. ashley: this comes up a lot when we have these kind of attacks but we live in an open society in america, we are proud of it, freedom of speech and movement but with it comes these threats and it is impossible, is it not, to track
