5:01 pm
grainer view with speaker johnson really interesting. the great larry kudlow thank you so much welcome to the "evening edit" i'm elizabeth macdonald. >> investigators believe jabar picked up the rented f-50 in houston, texas december 30 and he then drove from houston to new orleans on the evening of the 31st and he posted several videos to an online platform proclaiming his support for isis. >> our subject is 37-year-old matthew and the individual sustained a gun shot wound to the head prior to the detonation of the vehicle. >> it's not lost on us that it's in front of, you know, the trump building, that it's a tesla vehicle, but we don't have information at this point that definitively tells us or suggests it was because of this particular i ideology.
5:02 pm
liz: fast-track, expedite trump's nominees and trump's agenda. get america safe and moving again. we've got new details coming in now on the two terror attacks in just 24 hours in new orleans and in las vegas outside of trump hotel. america now asking who is in charge? where was joe biden, where was kamala harris? tonight, a former top fbi official will break all of this down, and this , to democrats and joe biden get the fbi too focused on january 6, on raiding trump's mar-a-lago, going after school board parents and not terrorism. former trump white house press secretary hogan gidley will join us on all of that, plus new details coming in on the big fight in the house tomorrow, to reelect speaker mike johnson. we've got new details on this also, we've got this story for you. >> senator joe biden and kamala harris, and immigration, illegal immigration down. >> the number of illegal border crossings has come to one of
5:03 pm
the lowest points, again, because of pathways that president biden and vice president harris have created. >> border crossings under president joe biden has gone down 70%. >> msnbc getting hammered for incompetence first kept claiming out of context that illegal border crossings dropped under joe biden, not giving texas any credit for their crackdown on that. tonight we will show you how now, msnbc finally reports that joe biden did put the border into a state of collapse. border crossings rose msnbc final reports under biden. joe concha is fired up on this and also, whether msnbc is only now reporting all that as joe biden is heading out the door. plus this story. >> have you spoken with any other cabinet members about implementing the 25th amendment on president biden? >> first of all i'm glad to have a president would can ride a bicycle.
5:04 pm
liz: remember that? pete buttigieg, right? always defending joe biden no matter what? he's now getting slammed on social media and twitter over a really inflated emp embellished blame. tonight steve forbes will take that on but first this. new details coming in on that terror attack in new orleans the suspect a u.s. citizen, army veteran, isis terrorist sympathizer and plowed a truck into a crowd in new orleans killing 14 injuring 35 and shot and injured two cops. the fbi had zero intelligence about him. he posted five videos on facebook saying he did want to kill americans. fox news brook taylor joins us live from houston, texas with more on this story. good to see you. reporter: hi, liz. we're outside where that suspect was living here in houston. this is a quiet conservative small muslim community. there's a mosque just about a minute from where we are now.
5:05 pm
i spoke to the man who lives next door to the suspect. he was surprised by all of this. he said he had no idea he was radicalized. said he knew him as a quiet guy, that prayed inside his home. i want to show you a rare glimpse here though of video we took just around his trailer where jabar was living. you can see the metal fence ripped off from the fbi and swat raid last night. there's also chickens and sheep around the property that we've been seeing all day. one neighbor told us he saw the white ford pick-up truck used in the attack parked outside of this trailer. according to court records, he has three kids, went through two divorces claiming money issues and that he was tens of thousands of dollars in debt. well the fbi says he drove from houston here to new orleans on the 31st and posted a series of videos on his facebook page and in the videos he originally planned to harm his own family and friends, but was concerned that the news headlines wouldn't focus on "the war between
5:06 pm
the believers and disbelievers." >> in the first video, jabar explains he originally planned to harm his family and friends but was concerned the news headlines would not focus on the "war between the believers and disbelievers." reporter: and while he's a suspect of a deadly terrorist attack now for a decade, he served in the army as a human resources and also i.t. specialist. in 2020 i want to show a youtube video he posted pitching himself as a real estate agent in this area, claiming his military background would help him out. >> i just want to say hello and let you know a little bit about me so i'm born and raised in beaumont, texas and now live in houston, and i've been here all my life with the exception of traveling for the military. reporter: and again the fbi now saying that he acted alone. the next step right now they say is digging through his social
5:07 pm
media, continuing to reach out to people that knew him and were close to him along with his family members. they also say they have three cell phones and two laptops they retrieved that they are also going through. liz? liz: so he's an isis sympathizer. there was an isis flag in the pick-up truck. do we know any more about that from your reporting? reporter: as of right now, just based off of what we know from social media, those videos are a key part in all of this. he told his facebook followers at the time that he joined isis this summer, and right now, they are kind of just combing through and going by what he said on those social media videos, so it seemed that that's the platform he used to tell authorities and as you mentioned that isis flag on his truck that was found. liz: brooke taylor wonderful reporting thank you so much. good to see you. >> are you getting the sense
5:08 pm
that the fbi had been tracking the suspect or are you getting the sense that they perhaps somehow missed this? >> i can't answer that. i can't answer that but i shouldn't. i'm going to say it again. we're giving the fbi and homeland security a reasonable amount of time to do their job and by god, they're going to do their job and catch these people. >> this is not just an act of terrorism. this is evil. liz: that was first louisiana senator john kennedy on what happened and you just heard the louisiana attorney general and the chief of police saying yeah, louisiana is a death penalty. this was evil. joining us now, former assistant fbi director chris wecker. >> good evening. liz: how did it come to this just a generation after
5:09 pm
9/11. we've got two attacks on u.s. soil in 24 hours. there are a lot of good people in the fbi. we talk to them. we are hearing from former fbi officials that the fbi under biden was too focused on januarn raiding trump's mar-a-lago, going after trump, school board parents and more. is that what you were hearing from fellow fbi colleagues? >> yes, and many of us, former fbi and even current fbi are confiding in us that post-9/11 we had great security measures in place. we had become much more intelligence-focused agency and an agency focused on prevention but somehow we took our eye off the international terrorism ball and we went way too far on the domestic side, witnessed january 6 where we scorched the earth trying to track down the trespassers and many of whom were let in by capitol police into the grounds, and i think
5:10 pm
that the fbi director was out there several times saying hey, right wing extremism is the greatest threat to this country. nothing could be further from the truth. so i'm afraid we took our eye off the international terrorism topic and focused way too much on the so-called extremists of which apparently there's only right wing extremists according to the bureau so we've got to get back on top of this. these people are not going away as much as you hope and wish that they would. they are playing the long game. liz: yeah, so it feels politicized, that national security somehow was sort of politicized the fbi. again fbi is great people. we hear you loud and clear. not enough focus on international terrorism and coming through our borders. we tracked data 1,900 terrorists caught at all ports of entry under biden. we don't know about the gotaways. let's listen to the fbi deputy assistant director of counter
5:11 pm
counterterrorism. watch this. >> i also had the opportunity and i'll tell you this is almost carbon copy as far as the inaccurate reporting that comes up and what the governor said is we want to be transparent with the public. years of the fbi not being transparent we're being as transparent as we possibly can. unfortunately as we're being transparent, unfortunately, for that, there is some information that we have to go back and recorrect. liz: years of not being transparent with the public. can you take that on, chris? final word. >> sure. great people in the fbi still. what they need is great leadership and they've been starving for that and you saw that right there. that's a good leader right there. that guy has a great reputation and he's the adult in the room taking charge. liz: okay, former top fbi official great to see you. now let's take you to las vegas. authorities are getting more
5:12 pm
details on the tesla cybertruck explosion outside the trump hotel in las vegas. this too also a possible act of terror. reports coming in the suspect did shoot himself in the head before he detonated that explosion. fox news jeff paul joins us live in vegas with more. jeff, good to see you. reporter: yeah, well, the biggest unknown right now and the biggest question that hasn't been answered is the why. the motivation surrounding the cybertruck explosion at the trump hotel in las vegas, nevada. that portion of the picture is still unclear, but investigators are filling in some other holes like the person who they think may be responsible. 37-year-old matthew almostivelsburger of colorado springs, colorado. now, they couldn't live that answer and identifying him as a suspect with 100% certainty just because his body was so badly burned but they were quick to point out that they found a military id hads with his name, a passport with his name and
5:13 pm
multiple firearms inside that charred cybertruck as well as evidence that he had sustained a cell-inflicted gun shot wound. investigators describe the incident as a suicide with a bombing that occurred afterwards but in terms of how complicated the explosions were the atf says most of the materials found inside were consumer-grade and things that everyday people could buy. >> it's not lost on us that it's in front of the trump building, that it's a tesla vehicle, but we don't have information at this point that tells us or suggests it was because of this particular ideology or that any of the reasoning behind it. reporter: well the motivation is still unknown. investigators are currently following leads both domestically and internationally. the fbi says so far, they have received thousands of tips and are working to determine if this was in fact an act of terrorism. local police also addressed the similarities between the truck explosion in las vegas and the terror attack in new orleans. both suspects served in
5:14 pm
the military, both were in afghanistan in 2009 but there's really no evidence they were in the same province or served at the same time in the same unit. both suspects also used vehicles rented through the app turo, but the local sheriff in nevada says they still have a lot of investigating to do. >> we haven't even gotten into the phones or computers which are very very informative to us as we investigate, and we've got a lot more work to do to trace him to see the stores he went to, to rule out anybody else. reporter: the fbi and new orleans was asked about whether there's some sort of link, and their responsible is at the moment there's no definitive link between the two incidents. the one that occurred in new orleans and here. authorities here in nevada though also saying that they believe the person involved in this acted alone and there's not a threat to the public right now. liz: jeff paul thank you so much. president biden says he's angry, frustrated about what happened
5:15 pm
in new orleans with a terrorist isis sympathizer. you just heard from former fbi official and biden was too focused on white supremacy not isis oral died judge aquilina biden was saying white supremacy is the molts lethal threat to america. let's bring in former deputy press secretary to to president trump. what do you make of this debate. we just had the worst attack since 9/11 happening in new orleans. >> we also had a closed southern border under trump and a wonderful economy under donald trump and peace in the middle east. we didn't even have is us. it was destroyed under donald trump and now, we have these issues emerging again and again and you eluded to it. the fbi's been too focused on calling out catholics for practicing mass as being some type of terrorist activity. moms who cared about their children and the education they're receiving in our public schools as being domestic terrorists and threats to democracy and of course, going after donald trump, his businesses, his friends, his colleagues, his home, his
5:16 pm
co-workers. everything else they are focused on not worried about the issue at hand. yes, millions of people are in this country illegally and unlawfully. we know about the 2 million gotaways. there are people in this country now. we don't know where they are, how they have gotten here and the ones that actually did come through weren't vetted in the first place. problem after problem, layer after layer, of issue, and this is the resulting problem that the american people see and face. it is dangerous. it is horrific and so much of this is and should be prevented if the fbi was doing the proper job, it was set out to do. it hasn't under joe biden. liz: is there enough focus on the threats against president trump? show what president trump posted on truth social saying that the justice department and the fbi, democrats have not done their job. they are incompetent and spent all their waking hours unlawfully attacking him. is there enough focus on the threats against the president? >> well look. donald trump was shot in
5:17 pm
the head for heaven sakes. someone else staged a hide waiting for donald trump to come by at his own golf course. the man wasn't protected at all, had received robust by the biden administration for extra protection as well and now they kind of got the memo and understand what they have to do to protect donald trump, but these threats are out there. isis was eradicated. it's no longer eradicated. there are cells in this country, terrorists come across our southern border and northern border. some apprehended but a lot haven't. this is terrifying. donald trump will return two things to this country. transparency and accountability and if you do that, we will have safety for the american people. donald trump can do it. liz: hogan gidley, happy new year. >> you too. >> this is why getting president trump's cabinet in is so important. we need governor at dhs, kash patel at fbi and pete hegseth at dod. this is an across-the-government
5:18 pm
look. liz: more and more lawmakers abdandsenators say get his econc and national security agenda enacted right away. tudor dixon joins into weigh in on that and also tonight do democrats have a plan to try to stop trump's agenda and his nominees? how will republicans pushback on that plus what is speaker mike johnson's plan to get re-elected tomorrow as house speaker? republican congressman mike lawler, we're excited to talk to him and he joins us later in the show plus this story. >> have you spoken with any other cabinet members about implementing the 25th amendment on president biden? >> first of all i'm glad to have a president who can ride a bicycle. liz: okay, pete buttigieg now getting hammered on social media, slammed for making wild claims saying anything to defend and cover up biden's incompetence. you won't believe the over-the-top claim pete buttigieg is trying to make now. we'll show you what he said. steve forbes has a lot to say
5:19 pm
about this one. we're excited to have steve on. also tonight, better late than never. the liberal media msnbc finally reports the truth about biden putting the u.s. border into a state of collapse. msnbc even showed a chart on air to illustrate it. joe concha joins us on msnbc and only is it only doing this as biden heads out the door? what's the debate about this? we'll give it to you, we'll be back after the break. stay right there. >> we're also securing our border. >> we have a secure border. >> we're going to secure the border and do the work. introducing new eroxon gel, the first fda-cleared ed treatment available without a prescription. eroxon gel is clinically proven

>> have you got any new years resolutions for 2025? >> i just want everybody to be happy, health it and well. >> what are you looking forward to in 2025? >> just a great year. i think we'll do fantastically well as a country. we're going to bring it back. it has to be brought back. people are not respecting our country very much and they are going to respect us a lot. liz: okay that was president trump with his new years message. this news coming in. president trump will hold a rally on january 19 at the capitol one arena in washington
5:25 pm
d.c., just one-day before his inauguration. that arena is home to the washington wizards basketball team and the washington capitols hockey team. it can hold about 20,000 attendees. now, look whose here with us. former michigan gop gubernatorial candidate tudor dixon. it's wonderful to see you again. happy new year. let's turn to this news. president trump is sounding the alarm that senate democrats want to "improperly stall and delay the confirmation process of his cabinet nominees." what do you make of this? the senate confirmation hearings are set to begin within days. >> right well first and foremost, liz, happy birthday to you. liz: oh, thank you. >> of course, but to get into this , yeah. i mean, i think that the senate democrats need to understand that in november, the american people said don't get in trump's way. that should be the message to them right now. especially after what we've seen in the past two days. we've had a terror attack on u.s. soil.
5:26 pm
the message should be clear. give donald trump the nominees he is asking for because he is ready to make sure our country is great again and that means we need to revamp the fbi, we need kash patel, we need to make sure we have a military that is not woke but also we have two veterans. one active service member who just committed a horrific crime. we have to make sure we have somebody in charge. that's pete hegseth. we've got to get these people confirmed. you heard donald trump there say he wants to make people healthy again, so that means rfk jr. has got to be confirmed. the senate has their marching orders not just from donald trump. they are from the american people because they believe in donald trump. liz: do you have faith that senate republicans? because we've got reports that republican attorneys general and red republican states want to immediately enact trump's agenda and get rid of biden's policies on the border, crime, bailing out student loans. you could see what his agenda is right there. what do you make of that?
5:27 pm
>> anybody who doesn't want to do that right now, anybody who doesn't want to enact donald trump's policy on the border after just seeing what happened in new orleans and knowing that for some reason that truck crossed the border recently in november. that's insane to think that anybody be against closing our borders. we need to be watching our southern border and our northern border, and anyone who is arguing against that right now, they don't deserve to be elected and if they do come out against that, i guarantee you the american people will not elect them again. look at what we had just running up to the election. not only did we have to suffer the death of laken riley and ruby garcia and other women killed by illegal immigrants but also donald trump had an attack against his life and a second attempted attack against his life and that was another situation where someone had was visiting one of our military basis, we do not have a secure country right now. donald trump has said he will
5:28 pm
bring that back and anybody fighting against him right now, what are nefarious motives behind that because i can't imagine anybody having an excuse to not make this country as safe as possible. liz: tudor dixon come back soon. great to have you on again. >> thank you. >> i've talked to a few, you know, who don't seem like they are going to vote for him. >> losing confidence each day and we have a lot of our colleagues losing confidence and not sticking to the principles and values in which we fight for. >> i think that johnson has to do his best to finally start show sg&a he's going to do what he says. liz: coming up a big fight tomorrow over whether speaker johnson stays as speaker and keeps his job. could this fight in any way delay trump's historic mandate to fix america? voters gave trump that mandate. republican congressman mike law letter is here with the latest on that speaker fight. we'll find out who he's voting for , also tonight, joe concha is fired up and ready to go. msnbc finally reporting how joe
5:29 pm
biden did put the u.s. border in a state of collapse but is msnbc only reporting on it because biden is heading out the door? do msnbc hosts only care about access to power? but first, pete buttigieg makes another hard-headed claim, he makes a wild claim about biden's legacy. steve forbes will break it down. we're coming back at you right after the break. please don't go away. >> federal highway administration says only seven or eight charging stations have been produced in the 7.5 billion investment that taxpayers made back in 2021. why isn't that happening more quickly? your best defense against erosion and cavities is strong enamel. nothing beats it.

hillsdale was founded in 1844. we're passing on a cultural heritage, the culture of the west. when the federal government started giving money to colleges, we didn't take it. that independence has allowed us to stay with our mission that we established 175 years ago. because we don't accept federal money.
5:33 pm
we are free to concentrate on the mission of the college. we care about freedom, and that affiliates us with the free institutions of america. (♪) do you have a life insurance policy you no longer need? now you can sell your policy - even a term policy - for an immediate cash payment. call coventry direct to learn more. we thought we had planned carefully for our retirement. but we quickly realized we needed a way to supplement our income. our friend sold their policy to help pay their medical bills, and that got me thinking. maybe selling our policy could help with our retirement. i'm skeptical, so i did some research and called coventry direct. they explained life insurance is a valuable asset that can be sold. we learned we could sell all of our policy, or
5:34 pm
keep part of it with no future payments. who knew? we sold our policy. now we can relax and enjoy our retirement as we had planned. if you have $100,000 or more of life insurance, you may qualify to sell your policy. don't cancel or let your policy lapse without finding out what it's worth. visit coventrydirect.com to find out if your policy qualifies. or call the number on your screen. coventry direct, redefining insurance. >> yeah, it's a numbers game. we have the smallest margin in u.s. history, of probably two votes tomorrow during that, so can only afford to lose one or two, but i think we'll get it done. i really do.
5:35 pm
i've talked to every single one of those friends and colleagues over the holidays. we'll be talking about process reforms inside the house and i've encouraged them and the reason they are all voting yes is this. we're shifting into a brand new paradigm. we have unified government that begins tomorrow. liz: speaker mike johnson and major battle to stay as house speaker. that fight starts tomorrow. report coming in, 15-17 house republicans oppose speaker johnson staying in the post, including conservatives led by representatives chip roy and tom massey. joining us new york congressman mike lawler. where do you come down on speaker johnson? congressman happy new year. we appreciate you spending time with us. speaker johnson can only lose one vote if members participate. president trump wants speaker johnson. where do you come down on it? >> liz, first, happy new year and a very happy birthday to you. i support speaker johnson. look, this is not about anyone in individual. it is about the collective here.
5:36 pm
the american people gave us a house republican majority, along with a senate republican majority and a landslide victory for president trump to get to work on their behalf on the issues that are most acutely impacting them and their families from the economy to the border to energy to the international crisis around the globe. we can't do any of that if we don't elect a speaker, and what is most important on monday is to certify president trump's election and if we don't have a speaker we can't do that, so it's time for everyone to put their big boy pants on, stop the personal petty grievances. yes, there are differences of opinion at times which are totally legitimate, and yes, the process can be very frustrating for all of us, but we have a responsibility to work together as one team to get things done on behalf of the american people and i'll be
5:37 pm
very clear as i was just the other day. if my colleagues think somehow by blocking speaker johnson and grinding the house to a halt, that they are going to get a better deal, they're not, and i and others are not going to bend to their will on this , so it is important that we get about the business of the american people, that we work together as a team, and that we be ready for when donald trump is sworn in as the 47th president on january 20. liz: are house republicans and conservatives against johnson? are they coming around to your point of view because we understand there is a new rule that will make it harder to oust a speaker and build a new threshold and require a member of the majority party meaning republicans and eight additional members of the same party, sign on to the motion to vacate to remove the speaker. are house republicans coming around to your point of view? >> well i think we are building consensus, and again, the objective here is to recognize, none of us are going
5:38 pm
to get everything we want. as i've said many times anybody whose ever been married knows you have to find compromise. that's what we have to do, so look. we have continued to have dialogue throughout the 118th congress, and in the lead-up to this 119th including lifting the motion to vacate from 1 to 9 and that was agreed upon just a few weeks ago by everybody in the conference. liz: okay, congressman lawler, thanks for joining us thank you for the birthday wishes appreciate you very much. >> thanks, liz. liz: let's move to this story transportation secretary pete buttigieg, he's getting slammed on social media and twitter. he's trying to compare joe biden's legacy on infrastructure to the hoover dam. he tweeted "he's confident americans will applaud this a century from now but even politico reports biden, they can't find how biden and where biden spent $50 billion when they were little to no electric
5:39 pm
car chargers, little to no homes in rural america hooked up to broadband. where did all that money go? let's welcome to the show steve forbes, forbes media chair and editor in chief. steve, the hoover dam, really, steve? what is the big thing biden did that equals the hoover dam? >> nothing by the way happy birthday. liz: thank you, steve. >> on the hoover dam, if biden had been in charge of it, century later we still wouldn't have it today. if it was done in five years in the 1930s, you mentioned the ev charging stations, the bandwidth connections. everything this government has tried to do if they have their way we'll become like germany. we're going to become a wrecked economy in terms of manufacturing. in germany because of their green new deal, as a result, energy costs there are two to three times that which we face here in the united states today. we want triple energy costs. that's what their agenda is doing. they gave us a tsunami of a regulation that are burdening the economy, so if they think that's an achievement lord help
5:40 pm
us and by the way, the german government collapsed. liz: yeah that's a great point. you know, the reporting needs to be done too on all of the green energy slush funds, and whether all that money was recycled back into donations into joe biden, into the democrat party. the climate change funds where did they go? what do you make of this story the new york post editorial board says the media, who joined in on gaslighting america and covering up biden's decline, should never live it down. they should be held accountable. their credibility is shot because their post reports back in february, 9/10 americans thought biden was too old to serve a second term. way back two years ago in 2022, seven out of 10 democrat voters wanted somebody other than biden to run, but then this charade that biden is fine is okay, went on full bore with the media. what do you make of this story? >> this is the greatest scandal, one of the biggest scandals in american history we had a president mentally incompetent for the office, visibly declining physically and
5:41 pm
mentally and from day one they knew they had a problem and they worked to cover it up, restricting access and the like. so, the white house people participated, damn you but even more the media much of the media ignored what the was right in front of their eyes and tried to deceive the american people as to the real state of mind of the president of the united states. imagine if we had a crisis like the cuban missile crisis wherefore hour and hour, dave after how the world was on the precipice of a nuclear war. was joe biden capable of handling that crisis? absolutely not so these people have a lot to answer for and in terms of achievements of biden? well, all we have to do is look at the record as al smith, the great al smith used to say look at the record. it's a pitiful one. he's worst president since james buchanan who presided over the breakup of the united states before the civil war. liz: yeah, and when you think about it, steve, it's not just one but two major scandals. it's massive corruption,
5:42 pm
the worst corruption america has ever seen under joe biden, and it's also the cover up of his decline. jill biden is in a feud with kamala harris. that's heating up after biden lost to president trump. biden thought he could win again, but you know, the biden white house reportedly is depressing and deflated, it's draining, but you know, when you look back at what really happened, we never been through a period in american history, ever, steve, like we just endured. final word. >> that's why he's the worst president in american history and over 150 years. the record again speaks for itself. he did immense damage to us in foreign policy and security. he did immense damage to the economy. and we're going to have to be digging out and moving forward. liz: steve forbes come back soon great to have you on thank you so much. >> enjoy those candles and cake tonight. liz: i sure will, thank you. >> thank you. >> under joe biden and kamala harris, immigration, illegal immigration down. >> the number of illegal border

steve ratner on msnbc's morning joe show this morning. finally telling their viewers how biden did weaken the u.s. border into a state of collapse causing illegal border crossings to skyrocket. this story has been out there for at least three-years now. joining us now fox news contributor joe concha. joe? great to have you on. why are they finally reporting on this? is the only reason they are doing it now is because biden is heading out the door and after trump won the election and undercut msnbc's whole narrative about them? >> before i get to my answer, liz, are you celebrating the big 3-9 today? liz: i'll tell you how many decades later but happy birthday to me i guess. thank you, joe. >> better be a celebration at some dive bar in manhattan. if you don't call in sick tomorrow your staff and i will be disappointed. anyway, yeah, after the election, now, we're seeing all this reporting on the border after many journalists mocked trump for underscoring how dire the crisis is at that border since before the 2016 election

when he ran on this issue, and during obviously the failed biden-harris presidency. so when i watch these segments, liz, it's just like the best unintentional comedy. just like we were told inflation was transitory, or that the inflation reduction act would reduce inflation, no it didn't. that crime actually was falling under biden. no it wasn't. and that the border was actually secure. anything but. so, this is why, liz, the media is as trusted as gas station sushi, and only to do this after the fact, after donald trump has won and not before the election, when it mattered, that tells you why integrity and trust in this industry is so low at this point. liz: why now? do they care more about power and losing access to the white house? >> perhaps, that's one reason, or perhaps it's a cya. like no actually we reported on it just last december we talked about the border when that's where we're at now, so i guess it's a do-over of some kind but i don't think the american people are buying it. this needed to be done when joe biden was the nominee and kamala

harris was the nominee. we didn't see much reporting on this at all, leading up to the election. liz: msnbc's ratings have been cut in half and the parent comcast is moving to sell it and even possibly change its name and kick it out of the nbc building final word. >> they will sell it. it will go for pennies on the dollar and whoever inherits that network will have to also rachel maddow's contract where she gets $25 million a year to work one-day a week and finish a very distant second to shawn hannity so a lot to fix and they could start by putting on some pro-trump voices, conservative voices on there and do the type of reporting you just showed on a consistent basis is the only way they get viewers back because it's all going in the wrong direction. liz: joe concha thank you so much for the happy birthday wishes, happy new year. >> happy birthday. liz: we've got this report coming in. are more tax cuts coming from president trump in the new year? we're hearing gop lawmakers plan to move fast and give trump
