larry: hello, folks, welcome to kudlow. i'm larry kudlow. wild fires raging in california but then again mr. trump goes to washington. we're going to talk about it in a moment with congressman wesley hunt, plus we have senators mike krapo and steve danes in the show and saying he sees a trump boom to close out the decade. how about that? going for california and wild fires and max, rough story, what do you have? reporter: absolutely, larry. five wild fires are burning uncontrolled across southern california and we are standing in the aftermath of the palisades fire. you can see how it's destroyed this mobile home park. currently this fire destroyed 11,800 acres to the east of us, the eaton fire killed two people and it's burned 10,600 acres and

money that is spent in that region primarily is spun because of the united states this. is about putting america first and going back to policies that benefit the average taxpayer and every day americans. why not call it those things and we're the beficiary and we're the ones that are investing the most in the world in those regions and in the areas and nobody is talking about just taking this land from people and annexing them. we're lking about paying for it. if we pay for it though, wow, imagine that. a return on our investment by investing in the panama canal and investing in greenland and making gulf of mexico the gulf of america. all what i think are great policies in general. larra rhode islander these are core u.s. interests. core american interests. these are not far flung widespread other side of the world interests. these are right here. core interests and these are monroe doctrine interests and

>> no, i don't think s larry. as i've said, i'm ready to go either direction and appears that the house is going to go with a one bill pramila and we're ready to work to make that happen. the key here is to do what i've talked about earlier on your show, and that is to make the tax changes permanent. instead of a $4.3 trillion tax hike, most of which hits people in lower income and middle income categories, we need to have a permanent tax code so that we can have reliability. the tax foundation indicates that if we're to extend this current tcja and permanently larry: let's go back to the revenue point and that's so important. i want to get to your current, your current policies baseline, which is one of the reasons we love having you on. people do not appreciate your point of view. first of all, the cbo and joint

tax committee are always wrong and 2017 tax cut and not only paid for themselves and they unfortunately paid for a lot of other things and they had a few things. why is this the way the cbo does it. >> every american having every common sense understands that and changing the tax code and extending current policy and you are not increasing the deficit. bottom line is 3 trillion tax increase not a 4.3 trillion deficit increase. you've indicated it. we grow the chips act and we say people -- economy and tax increases that hurt them terribly and we give perm nancy to the tax code -- perm seizure disorders to the tax --

permanente to the tax code and congressionally larry: if tax cuts come in and they go on forever and it's hard for deficit raisers and it's like the whole system is geared for government to take your money rather than for you to keep more of what you earn. >> that's exactly right and not being fooled by this and if we had a $4.3 trillion tax increase, congress would use to spend on new spending. that's a tax and spend philosophy and you indicated that about $2.5 trillion of the spending is under current policy baseline. that's intended to protect the spending so it goes on

perpetually but the taxes don't get the same kind of treatment and i think americans can see through this. larry: one last one, senator. if mr. trump goes for a universal tariff of 10%, which is europeans have had about a 20% bet and 10% tariff ring around the call of tariffs. in static terms, i don't know how long this would last but $5 trillion worth of imports at 10% tariffs would come to $500 billion worth of revenues. those are inexact estimates i know. but there is a good deal of truth in arkansas and if mr. trump puts on that kind of tariff and uses that for negotiating or whatever, you'll raise a lot of money to help finance a lot of different things and finance defense and help finance the wall and help finance more ice agents for deportation and what do you think of that?

>> there's a strong case president trump is making and they can do this well. he did it well the first term. he had serious successes in his tariffs on china and on france and on canada that have positive results in our trade relations with them that were beneficial overall and you see that kind of result of tariff policy and you're right, done well it can help our economy and grow our economy just as these tax cuts will. larry: that's exactly right. senator mike crapo, thank you. i think you're the smartest guy in the senate. that's all. we appreciate you coming on. next up on kudlow, joe biden is doing everything he can to spite trump on his way out and the

should listen to what the economy is saying and it's normalized interest rates and it's a zero fed funds rate and 5.25%. having it closer to 4% and i think the bond market is saying that the fed is in the economy and doesn't need to be stimulated and inflation not quite yet at 2% and jumping the gun here just assuming that it's going to continue with no mass and no more rate cuts. we don't need it. larry: trump said he should have fired me. he came out and said that and going on top of those who helped him out. i don't want to see bidenflation ratcheting back up. they're spending less. >> economists like you and

you can have an active manager that uses ctfs to get you into a fairly goody verse fioed port foal -- good diversified portfolio. larry: how about the bond market. you favor stocks over bonds. if there's a possibility that we had last year and tremendous amount of buying at 5% and that was a pretty good yield and conceivable going for that opportunity again. but i think bond yields are where they should be. larry: 20 seconds. i can get 20% plus growth for the next ten years. your optimism is great. it's the best of the best.
