4:01 pm
just a moment. meanwhile trump cabinet nominee seem to be sailing through and then are markets ready for shock and awe tariff and congressman jim jordan and steve forbes waiting in the wings and first up grady trimble on what happened today exactly. looks pretty good to me. >> larry, by far the most contentious of the hears is pam bondi. she's president elect trump's nominee for attorney general and democratic senators questioned how to serve in this role since she's close friends with trump though republicans pointed out it would be foolish not to pick someone they're close with. democrats also asked repeatedly who won the 2020 election and grilled her on whether she'd use the department of justice to go after political o points such as liz cheney to which bondi responded no, she wouldn't be doing that. that's what's been happening for the last four years in this current administration and she
4:02 pm
plans to stop that. senator marco rubio and sean duffy received bipartisan praise for secretaries of state and transportation respectively and same with john ratcliffe, trump's pick to lead the cia. democrats hit trump'sman nominee for management and budget over his defense of trump's plans to cut spending and shrink the size of the federal government. >> inflation by irresponsible spending taxes americans twice. reporter: secretary nominee chris wright unleashed plans for bolstering the national security and the economy and democrats largely focused on climate change.

larry: israel-hamas ceasefire. edward, what can you tell isn't it trues >> larry, 33 hostages will be released, 23 of them are alive. they will go back to their families after more than about 500 days in captivity. ten of them the remains sent back to their loved ones for a proper burial and a final fair r well and hundreds of palestinians released and criminals that will be released and some of them in jail for terrorism charges and ceasefire lasting 42 day withs hostage releases in three phases. president joe biden's teamworking on hostage deal for months. >> the release of number of hostages held by hamas including

4:05 pm
changes the dynamic of what might be possible. reporter: if that holds, 75 hostages in captivity and spokesperson stephen miller said the trump -- president elect trump's team was absolutely critical in pushing this over the line to get the deal done. larry, back to you. larry: thank you, edward. appreciate that wrap up. so, are we handcuffing israel in their fight to destroy terrorism and saving freedom in the middle east and america? that's the subject of the riff. any time hostages are released is a wonderful and joyous development and israeli and american families suffered so much while their children, spouses, soldiers have been held captive in hamas' hell over the past 15 months. so, let's start there. and be grateful for it. let's hope that the freeing of 33 hostages actually takes place.
4:06 pm
tragically that number was around 250 15 months ago and several american hostages are expected to be released in phase one, three are presumed still alive, four declared dead, the evil barbaric hamas terrorists for the others and it's evil humanity and it's a question. how good a deal is this? i don't know all the details and this is all the details and even joe bind's state department said mr. trump's involvement was critical as our own edward lawrence reported.
4:07 pm
the middle east war is not over. according to reports, israeli troops permitted to remain in the philadelphia corridor separating egypt and gaza for another six weeks but then they're expected to leave, and the so called phase two of the deal mandate as complete israeli from gaza and a permanent ceasefire and meanwhile at least a thousand palestinians including 200 murdered israelis, well they'll all be released from israel prisons, well, aren't they just going to go straight to gaza and resume their violent jihad against israel and america? meanwhile, numerous reports suggest that hamas is regroups, recruiting, reenergizing and hamas leader yahya sinwar was recruited by his brother
4:08 pm
mohammad sinwar has become the new leader. if, and it's a big if, the hostages are released in two phases, and israel troops are mandated to leave gaza, and a thousand palestinian prisoners released from israeli jails and hamas is rebuilding, itself, how can this be a good deal? steve whit kuff devin benefit of the doubt and hostage increase. perhaps president trump will give israel to ban the nuclear facility and idf intends to
4:09 pm
destroy hamas all together as incoming defense secretary pete hegseth testified yesterday, he supports killing every last member of hamas, incoming national security adviser mike walz repeated and marco rubio testified today that if hamas is there, there'll never be a ceasefire. perhaps, perhaps but knowing what we think we know, hamas will remain in power in gaza. israel's military presence will end in gaza. not goods. i always thought we just unleash the idf against all the middle east tariffs and that we'd all be grateful to israel for not only saving their freedom and saving freedom in the middle east, but frankly saving all western freedom and judiah christian culture and thereby
4:10 pm
saving america as well. but putting handcuffs back on idf will stop them from destroying terrorism and stop them from saving freedom in the middle east and america. thank you for coming back on. larry: you're a member of the foreign relations senate and i want to get your take on this. you may have heard my opening riff and some of my concerns about this story, i love it that the hostages will be released, hopefully, but i'm just not sure about the rest of the story, senator barrasso. can you help me out, sir? >> i'd agree with you, larry.
4:11 pm
>> we can't stop till they're all released and the big picture is if donald trump hasn't gets the winnen reelected and i don't think this sort of thing will come to pass. the world is waking up to the fact that we have a new american president coming in who will rebuild, reestablish, restore, and do all the things in terms of american power around the world and american strength and projecting that and bad guys around the world are seeing it and are reacting as a result. with regard to israel, we need to make sure that security and safety of people of israel is preserved and hamas had to be able to be rebuilt. we know iran cons to refund and iran on the back foot right now and going get a lot worse than them and donald trump is in the white house and right now the people of israel can breathe a
4:12 pm
sigh of relief with donald trump in the white house, they'll have america standing side by side. larry: part of the deal and so-called phase two and israel has to remove the troops from gaza and hamas looks to be left there. we're seeing newspaper reports and you probably saw them too. i believe it's a front page of "the wall street journal" today, yesterday, the day before, other outlets and hamas is rebuilding and they're reenergizing i sinwar's brother coming in to take the leadership. if the idf is out of there, hamas is going to be there and i worry that the war not only goes on but, you know, it's like two steps forward, one step backwards or one step forward and two steps back. i can't figure it out, senator. i was hoping we'd unleash the idf for six months and finish
4:13 pm
the whole bloody job in gaza. you know, that's what pete hegseth said. i don't understand. >> hamas has to be eliminated completely or worry about what happened 500 day ago on october 7 with hamas going for the massacre that occurred and can never be allowed to go again and only way is with a complete destruction of hamas. larry: do you think this deal promotes a complete destruction of hamas or let me ask, let me ask the question and there are things that we don't know about and perhaps there's policewomans we don't know about and just doesn't sound like it.
4:14 pm
