idea. i don't think we can pull it off, replacing income tax with tariffs. might be worth a shot. but, you know, scott told me on my radio show just after he was nominated on this tariff issue that only excess money causes long term inflation. that was his point. and i'm surprised more people -- you just echo it. i'm surprised more people haven't made that point. wall street is involved in this silly game that tariffs will be inflationary, and i fear the federal reserve think tariffs will be inflationary, and might do even crazier things than the fed usually does. but that's not the issue. that's not the issue. i mean, too much money, chasing too few goods, sure. tariffs, forget about it. >> you have to realize some of these people are also so confused about what inflation is that they think greed causes inflation. and i always laugh at this because it's like oh my goodness, why do these people all of a sudden become greedy now and weren't last year.
4:13 pm
it's a ridiculous notion. inflation is a creation of new money. creation of money by the federal reserve and it is, yes, money exceeding demand. larry: i had so many great interview withs your dad on this subject back on another network that i won't have to mention, but it's good to have you here. senator paul, let me play you some sound from russ vote, the incoming director of the office of management and budget in his confirmation hearings yesterday. take a listen, please. >> the president has promised the american people a federal government that works for all americans, not the interest of bureaucrats and we have $36 trillion in debt and fiscal house continues to be a mess. we're now in a situation where it's surpassing what we spend on defense and we have to put forward budgets and spending plans as a budget process needs to work again. larry: so i gather you support

4:15 pm
if mr. trump comes in, if there's money that was appropriated but unspent, i'm thinking there's still covid money and the misnamed inflation reduction act money. there's some of that chips bill money. if money was appropriated but nowitzki not yet spent and we're in a fiscal spending emergency of sorts. why couldn't it just be removed by the president? just don't spend it. >> well, there's a way to do it and it's called rescission. in the first trump administration, they sent $15 billion back to us. a very small amount and, y i voted for it enthusiastically and lost two republicans that voted with the democrats, and we were unable to cut $15 billion. realistically, the trump administration, if they could get 50 republicans, myself and 49 others, in the senate, we should be able to cut 500 billion. i promise you, if you put someone like elon or vivek
4:16 pm
looking at every ratchet, screw, hammer, and wrench, there's all kinds of money and look at entitlements and everything. the military has to be looked at. if you send it back to us, we need votes and courage. people have to realize, ultimately this takes congress and cannot be done by the executive bran and have it'll take congress. that's not an excuse. that means everybody in the land should be calling your congressman saying i i'm watching you. if you don't cut, we're bringing you home. larry: but i take it also again from russ vote's hearing and more, let me ask you this, if the president thinks he can achieve the gold goals of congress with a cheaper spend out rate for example, i don't know if i'm putting that the way i want to, if it's just cheap
4:17 pm
tore do what everybody wants him to do, that might be true and i don't know if it's infrastructure or impound the rest? if he can save money by getting the same missions done, more cheaply, why not impound them. as people have said, a couple hundred years we had impoundment authority and only from the mid nixon '70s that it was removed. >> right, i have a couple of questions and first, if you impound the money, where does it go? is it still already spent but sitting in the account or is it not really spent and still sitting in the treasury. do you not draw it? that would make a difference to me and i'm open to hearing arguments. in general though, the principle that congress controls the power of the purse and spends the money and the president e cutes that spending, it's a very important principal and haven't had a lot of discussion in contemporary times or in a long time about not spending. it's a good debate to have about not spending money. i'm open to listening about it,
4:18 pm
but i'm not exactly sure where the money goes if it's impounded and is it already september and do you know the answer and -- spent and in limbo and un-crete and i have where's the money? if it saves men, there's a possibility that impoundment sits and doesn't spend if it doesn't necessarily save money. i'm all for saving money and i'll be open to listening to the arguments on impoundment but rescission actually involving congress and the cut cspan be done simply with republicans and it cannot be filib filibusteredd it's a privileged vote rescissions the way ultimately that will not be challenged and no court challenge and no legal challenge and rescission is perfectly legal. take as simple majority and we ought to get a republican to cut spending and if not, they ought to be sent home. larry: you're right on all accounts. one last one on impanelment stuff, where does the money go? senator paul, i just pushed the relief button. that's all. i wouldn't send to the next

don't think i've ever seen frankly such a resounding victorious slate as we d. to your point, he was armed with facts and incredible communicative skills and he stuck to his point and his talking points and did not deviate so when you read those transcripts in black and white, there's no fluff, there's no rattling that went on between the two and that's why the democrats i think the mask was revealed as to how vapid and really below the belt their attacks were. yes, it deflated them and emboldened as well the other nominees. we've known tomorrow it was rescheduled for 9:00 a.m. and they'll try their best with her. perhaps a weak resurrection zombie-style of personal attacks and dog situation and they'll attempt and they're all going to succeed with flying colors and going back to arguably the strategy of matt gaetz because he was the largest bates beast they were going to attempt to take down and with him gone, it became pete. >> really have to ask yourself though, is this helping the democrats to have this

unbelievably nasty personal attacks on pete hegseth? larry: i don't mean to interrupt, i love this, said it last evening, the average viewer, if anybody is following these things more than we are and afternoon viewers are hard and what do they think? what about policy and what about americans and going with our defense and security and our boarder and our economic growth skin fellation. what are you doing about this and failing audits every year at the pentagon and instead of all this woke stuff i feel like they're out of step with what american people want right now. larry: since the death of woke and personal attacks you have to ask yourself and won't talk about them and they're in denial about that. coming for the confirmation and personal attacks and phony personal attacks die and not

doing any favors. >> also they're doing them with republicans that may have been on the fence with confirming these candidates and how would it look and former people to align themselves with the democrats after the ridiculous show that they put on. regardless of want we want the american people to do and expose the nonsense and they've puckered the other republicans onto the side of confirmation and that's what's going to solidify the nominations. larry: i think they sure buried woke. thanks democrats. thank you all, very great stuff, liz peek, erica erika donalds d emily compagno. catch her at 12:00 p.m. eastern on fox news. coming up on kudlow, talking to senator markwayne mullens about democraticypocrisy and

>> i guess i better use the center for virginia and bring up the fact and what if you showed up drunk to your job?
4:52 pm
senator haves showed up drunk to vote at night? have any of you guys asked them to step down and resign from their job? don't tell me you haven't seen it because i know you have. how many senator haves got a divorce for cheating on their wives? did you ask them to step down? it's so ridiculous that you guys hold yourself to this higher standard and forget you have a big plank in your eye. we've all made mistakes. i've made mistakes and, jennifer, thank you for loving him through that mistake. because only reason why i'm here and not in prison is because my wife loved me too. larry: just love that. love that little lesson that was taught by oklahoma senator markwayne mullin and he's here joining us now. thank you for that. people everywhere have talked about what you said. i'm part of the club, my saintly

wife kept me from jail or worse about three decades ago and i've talked about it publicly from time to time. but essentially she gave a lot of hypocrites pretty good spanking. pretty good spanking, sir. >> i'm the last one to talk about being on moral high ground. i'm not a great guy and never discussed i was but you see jennifer who he calls jenny, every time i use jenny i feel like i'm talking to forest gump. but you see jennifer, sitting behind him and watching her husband that she knows the faults that he had and loved him through it and they've been able to work out their differences and they've been together and have a p-year-old child togethed together and sitting there watching her husband get absolute aidoo structure and support nated from -- absolutely assassinated from individuals that are no better than us. if that was any wife, christie,
4:54 pm
sitting behind me she'd want someone to step up and defend me the same way. it was just -- it was frustrating to me and didn't need to be said, and it took a lot of the -- i don't want to say the steam out of the room but a lot of personal attacks out of the room. larry: i think it took the steam out of it. it was a great thing you did here, they gave an excellent policy issue and he took the high road and he's a brilliant guy and those of us that know him here and he's been on this set and on this show and his f&f show over the weekend. the republican nominations, the trump nominations are doing very, very well. i mean, hegseth to some extent pam bondi, really i think just put everybody on the high road
4:55 pm
and it looks like it's been 100% passage. what's it like now? >> absolutely. pete hegseth the way he sat there and took oncoming fire, it was calm, collective, and cool headed through the process will tell you what type of leader he is first of all. it was president trump that said let's go with pete first. somebody was saying let's go with rubio, let's go with ratcliffe, let's get wins behind and yous build momentum before we bring pete up and to trump's fashion, he's like no, we're going right into this. we're bringing pete up first and i'm completely confident he'll handle himself under fire. we're going to win this vote, and then everybody else will sail through. he was absolutely right. that's why president trump has been able to get elected twice in office because the guy is strategically smart and he knows where to apply pressure. he's going to be right. larry: senator mark wayne mullin, see you soon, sire. thank you ever so much. appreciate it.
