and microsoft are all to the upside. yield on 10 year treasury, that's now below -- just above 4.6%. little bit down today. that helps stocks. now this, yes, we're celebrating "varney & co.'s" 15 years on the air and looking back at most memorable stories we've covered. for me, there's one big standout: 2015, donald trump announces his run for the presidency. it became known as ride down the golden escalator. we were on the air live when it happened. we didn't know what to make of it. we'd never seen anything like it before and we certainly didn't know how it would develop. after all, on that day at trump tower, he first talked about criminal migrants and building a wall to keep them out. that was a shock. the shocks kept coming. we are a business show, you have to cover the presidential run of a business guy who was desitined to have a profound affect on the economy and the stock market. not to mention our place in the

still plenty of green and getting better and the dow is up 414 points. that is 0.96%. the nas knack up 1.5% and 303 points higher. jonathan hoenig joining us this morning. to help us celebrate our anniversary, you've been looking at 15 years of price increases. starting with a big mac. how much was it back then and how much is it now? >> about $3.05s back then, stuart. just to fill out a few. they're celebrating it on wall street, the market is up 400 and celebrating here obviously on fox business [ blowing ]. you set the standard, stuart, politics, market coverage and your team and audience, they're the best if business and celebrating you with cake and green on the screen but you're right, price haves gone up. 15 years ago, stuart, a big mac was about $3.5 and today it's over $5.5 or something like a new car, stuart.

stuart: yes u it's our 15th anniversary and freedom caucus a two bill proposal for passing trump's agenda instead of one big beautiful bill. aishah hasnie on capitol hill. what does it cover? reporter: hey, stuart it. all covers everything president trump wants but pushes tax cuts and all important tax breaks for folks in the country and pushes that to a second bill. the first bill allocates about $100 billion for border security and up to $200 billion for defense over the course of four years. it would also raise the debt limit by two years, about $4 trillion. again, that's a big one that the president elect wants. the second bill is what includes the trump tax cuts, and the question that everybody has is how are they gob that pay for all of this? they say they will repeal biden policies like those ev tax credits and funding for the irs and student loan relief plans.

it will also, again, do a lot of things, it will just split up into two and what one of the house freedom caucus members say is the reason why they're pushing this. >> i think the strength of the two bill plan allows us to bank wins early and especially when it comes to border security, which this administration prosperitied we'd do on the first day. reporter: remember, stuart, the house freedom caucus was meeting with trump at mar-a-lago last weekend and clearly they're on a different page and moving forward with their own plans despite the one big beautiful bill that trump prefers, and in fact what speaker johnson prefer asks has been pushing forward, he was asked about this, house freedom caucus proposal the other day and said he's not bothered by it. so when they come back after celebrating the inauguration, they will have a lot of talking to do to try and figure out how to get the entire conference on

really turned into this mount everest of bureaucracy and obstruction by whoever the minority party is. we have 1300 political appointees that have to be confirmed by the senate. it's a stunning number. and democrats have an ability to slow down every one of those if they so choose whether through committee or on the floor of the senate. chuck schumer will let a few of the guys go through with the beginning and sort of like pat on the back, good thing you won, marco rubio will be one, but they have the ability to slow this to a crawl if they really want to. stuart: next one, kim. senator bernie sanders and trump's treasury secretary nominee scott bessent, they went head-to-head over president biden's oligarchy comments. >> what biden said last night is we're moving toward an oligarchy, do you think, forget how they made their money, do you think when so few people have so much wealth and so many economic and political power that that is an oligarchy that

forms a society? >> well, i wouldn't note that they -- president biden gave the presidential medal of freedom to two people who i think would qualify for his oligarchs. stuart: nice comeback i've got to say. sanders specifically called out tech billionaires musk and zuckerberg and jeff bezos. that was during bessent's hearing. got it. are these people, are these billionaires robber barrons or is he supporting trump? >> look, the definition of the oligarchy, stu, can i note is a small group of people who control a government. you can find that in a textbook definition. if i need to remind bernie sanders, the guy who's about to run the country was elected through america's amazing electoral system with the electoral college and people he's naming to run as departments are going through the checks and balances with advice and consent through the senate. that's who's running the government. he can call them an oligarch if

you want, but this going to scott bessent's point, nobody had an issue with wealthy people in the democratic party so long as those wealthy people were kissing the democratic ring. it's only when they decide or dare to support republicans do they suddenly get slapped with pre-jordytives like oligarchy. stuart: these billionaires close to trump have created america's crown jewels of business. they've created american supremacy in technology and almost all of its forms. bernie is just steamed that they've got a lot of money. i mean, this is typical socialist i guess; right, kim? >> well, that's the other thing too, stu. as an oligarchy too, i mean, one way we think about it is often it was applied to russia and formally state owned property sold off to the private sector so ca called and certain peopleo were insiders benefited from that and that's not how any individuals made their money in the amazing, beautiful,

president biden's national bitcoin stockpile. i didn't know this but the u.s. government's cryptoportfolio currently valued at $20.6 billion of which 20.15 billion is bitcoin. so fortunes on the rise for crypto in this country. stu. stuart: all right, ash. this is breaking right now, donald trump posting on truth social about the supreme court's decision to uphold the law that requires tiktok to be sold or face a ban. trump says, and i'm quoting, "the supreme court decision was expected and everyone must respect it. my decision on tiktok will be made in the not too distant future, but i must have time to review the situation. stay tuned". trump responds. coming up, some congressional staffers want to work less. they're pitching a four day workweek for more sustainable work/life balance. idea is dividing even the progressives. we'll bring you to capitol hill and get you the story in a moment.

it was presented to top senate and house leadership and chuck schummer and mike johnson in a letter from the congressional staff association that write they hope a 32-hour workweek on the hill would cork as a pilot program to prove it could work on a nagsal scale. the group writing "by setting a 32 hour workweek as standard, staff could plan scheduled and importantly their rest and recovery days to maximize efficiency". national four day workweek is something senator bernie sanders pushed for and sanders prophoseed a 32-hour workweek nationwide and sanders has not endorsed this specific plan to institute that here on capitol hill, he spoke in support of the general idea to me yesterday. >> we're seeing huge advances in administered official intelligence and technology at a time when 60% of our people are living paycheck to paycheck, i want to see those advances in technology that make you a more productive work of benefiting you and not just billionaires. one way we can do that is move

which we know it is. that's when the court upheld the law when it came before them. no, i know the president is as committed as i am and many of my colleagues to protecting americans and protecting their data. so the point is tiktok cannot house that data and be owned in part by the chinese communist party because it is imperative that we protect americans and it's imperative because we have that spy ware in our systems. stuart: trump spoke to china's xi jinping on the phone today and says they'll solve many problems together. what do you make of that relationship? terms of tiktok? it seems like the president elect is doing it, he's going all out to negotiate something. i mean, if anybody can do it, it's him. >> you know, stuart, xi jinping knows that donald trump is not a

pushover. and he knows that president trump says something, he means that. and when president trump tells you he's going to take an action, he is going to do it. xi jinping knows that. so he knows he needs to be talking with president trump. the point that congress has made is that tiktok as it is currently structured and as it is currently held by bytedance and ccp, that allows ccp to have access to everyone's virtual use ask that spy ware in tiktok gets into every other app onier phone. we don't want that for the american people and we want those protections in place. this is not one of those issues where some people want to say it's just a free speech issue. this is a national security issue that is why congress passed the divestiture ban.
