cheryl: and inauguration day is here. president-elect trump is ready to get to work immediately once the ceremonies are over. fox news digital political correspondent brooke singman is here on the flurry of executive orders he is expected to sign today. it looks like these were the campaign promises he is going to deliver on day one. we were initially talking about 100 executive orders. now, almost 200. has there been some last minute push to really blanket the country with the tru trump agenn day one? >> reporter: good morning,
6:04 am
cheryl. it's actually more than 200 executive actions we're expecting president trump to take today and in speaking with senior trump incoming trump administration officials about these executive actions, and what you just mentioned, it's what they're calling promises made, promises kept. so everything that trump promised on the campaign trail, the officials that are helping him work on all of these executive orders and actions say he is delivering on every single promise he made to the american people. what we are expecting after all of the ceremonies and the excitement, after he takes the oath of office to become the 47th president of the united states, trump is expected to take more than 200 executive actions. he's not signing 200 executive orders. i'm told these are kind of omnibus executive orders meaning that within executive orders there are dozens of executive actions. he is directing the federal government officials and possible confirmed cabinet members to take actions on his

top immediate policy priorities so today here's what we can expect. he's going to declare a national border emergency, he's going to direct the u.s. military to work with the department of homeland security to fully secure the southern border. he's also going to close the border to all illegal aliens. trump is going to designate cartels as foreign terrorist organizations. he's going to reinstate remain in mexico, end catch and release. those are just a few items of what he plans to do with regard to border security. then we're going to shift over to energy. and trump is going to take a number of executive actions there with a senior official telling me he's going to unleash american energy, drill, baby, drill, as we heard on the campaign trail for many months. he is expected to pause all offshore wind leases, he's going to end biden's electric vehicle mandate, he's going to end the green new deal and he's going to leave the paris climate agreement today which is interesting because on day one of his last administration, he also left the paris climate

agreement. biden put the u.s. back into that agreement on his day one in office in january 2021. trump is back. he's taking the u.s. out of that agreement now. moving on to the federal government as a whole, he's going to end diversity, equity and inclusion programs across the federal government. he's going to institute a freeze in hiring. that's part of an effort from the department of government efficiency, trying to shrink the federal workforce. he's expected to establish biological sex definitions, he's going to rename places like the gulf of mexico which he will call the gulf of america, that's something we can expect today and just if that's not enough, of course we heard him preview this yesterday but tiktok, this was something everybody's been waiting for. it's back up and running in the u.s. tiktok even pushed out a notification for users that said thank you to president trump for his action. we are back. and that executive order that he is signing is going to allow the

app to be operational for an extended period of time before that new law takes effect so that lawmakers and the company can figure out some sort of agreement to make tiktok secure for u.s. national security and just beyond that trump is also going to remove security clearances for those 51 ex national security officials who back in 2020 signed a letter saying that hunter biden's laptop was russian disinformation. obviously we know that's not true so revoking security clearances for former obama cia director, john brennan, former obama director of national intelligence, james clapper, leon panetta, a few things we're expecting the president to do today. that's not all 200 but just a little taste there. cheryl: thank you so much. there's so much on the agenda today, besides the pomp and

circumstance with the ceremonies. the senate will be back in session today. it will be an interesting day for everyone. brooke, thank you so much. president trump said this last night during his victory rally in d.c. watch this. >> you're going to see executive orders that are going to make you extremely happy, lots of them. lots of them. we have to set our country on the proper course. by the time the sunsets tomorrow evening, the invasion of our borders will have come to a halt and all the illegal border trespassers will in some form or another be on their way back home. cheryl: mike lee e your reaction to the day ahead and of course all of these executive orders, many more than we expected initially. >> well, cheryl, i think there's a couple parts to this
6:09 am
and i think one of them that a lot of people are going to miss is that because there are so many, it's really hard for his critics to focus on one or two and run that up the food chains at a court setting to challenge these so not only is it delivering on campaign promises, i think when you come with this many actions simultaneously it's really hard for your opponents to put a dent in anything that you're doing. it will be really hard for the media to pick it apart because there's so many things coming at them at once. for him to declare the mexican cartels as terrorist organizations is going to have wide-reaching ramifications. i think this could lead to a turning point in fentanyl and drug trafficking into this country but the one that i'm most excited about is the body of water you see behind me is now going to be called the gulf of america. cheryl: look, you know,
6:10 am
honestly jonathan there's certainly going to be a lot of -- the question now is will there be legal challenges and i think the one issue that we are going to see a flurry of action on is going to be the border and of course the plans and tom homan talked about this yesterday on fox news, the plans, jonathan, to go to the sanctuary cities to empower i.c.e. to do their job. we are expecting not just lawsuits from some of these groups that are protecting these illegal migrants and these sanctuary cities but across the board when it comes to the border. your reaction? >> absolutely. i mean, there's two steps to this, right. first, you look at the executive orders that are probably going to be passed today and probably throughout the rest of this year, a a lot of the executive orders that trump is talking about are actually him reinstituting the orders that were rolled back by the biden administration. so president trump enacted about 220 executive orders or executive actions in his first term. about a third of those, 72, were
6:11 am
rolled back by the biden administration. so he's reinstituting a lot of these. once those are in place, now you see the legal challenges coming against what he's trying to do at the border and enforcing the border security, empowering these agencies to work together which has really been the hurdle here for a lot of the crimes you're seeing, a lot of the border issues. so you're definitely going to see challenges there but first he has to get the laws in place before the challenges can be made. i think a lot of people are going to do a lot of talking beforehand but be mindful once you see what the orders look like before you start the legal challenges. cheryl: we know they're preparing. the national emergency at the border, in turn, this unlocks additional pentagon funding and assets. we talked a lot about how this would take place, first shutting down the border, then starting to get -- to be clear, criminals and donald trump has mentioned that repeatedly, they're not targeting families, they're not
6:12 am
targeting children, they're targeting criminals in this country, those that are going and have been harming american citizens and that is where the critics are going to start to come out and start to push back and he's ready for that and he said it last night in the rally. we're just getting started this morning. coming up, the futures market is only open today until 2:00 p.m. eastern time. markets are closed for president trump's inauguration and of course it is martin luther king, junior holiday today. so a big day of celebrations. we've got wealth consulting group ceo jimmy lee, he's here with the market outlook for the year under the next trump administration which begins today. don't miss a moment of i you're watching "mornings with maria" live on fox business. ♪

6:30 am
they're not negotiating normally the way we would think of. i mean, the scenes of the girls coming out yesterday, being taunted and surrounded by armed fighters, you know, they are not in any way interested in peace. they're not interested in negotiated settlements so all of these sudden calls that the palestinians should be given a state as a reward for doing this, i mean, it just doesn't make any sense. but at the same time, israel's going to do what it can to get the remaining hostages out. there are some 90 of them that are in hamas' control. but important to remember, cheryl, there are some more hostages that are not in hamas' control. they're in the palestinian islamic jihad, pij's control, for example. so we can get -- even if this deal comes to fruition, we may not be at the end of the road. cheryl: for the first time in u.s. history, foreign leaders will attend an american presidential nomination. no heads of state have
