our missile defense capabilities that we have capabilities that we need, in order to defend and protect our homeland. maria: yeah, i am so glad to hear you talk this way i could not agree more. unfortunately, something has to give, senator can you name one or two important offsets that you think will be significant i mean interest is single largest item in budget behind social security more than spending on defense medicare children what is most important offset to pay for that you will. >> a number of things as you know, that all of us, are looking at, and being able to go through a budget on appropriations, committee we are going to be, really having a strong oversight, with eases we have jurisdiction over hold them accountable for programs i think we can look, for example, on job training

programs, i know a few years ago, cross agencies, it was like 37 different job training programs. i am all for job training. but i think we need to figure out what the balance is, and i think that is a private enterprise, a private business does training in conjunction with our community colleges in conjunction with state you universities simply things like that you are going to see a lot of things like that i know we've heard some in the past, what i want to see though is return to energy dominance, that is going to bring in to going to help lower, prices, for families in this country. i want to be able to see inflation addressed we will. >> >>, of course,. >> i know many are saying well, we seen price eggs go up whys hasn't it adopted it has been a week folks it has been a week. maria: that is right.

those companies can adapt especially customers potentially going to pay lower price means earnings go up if anything we think probably a specific issue that is a buying opportunity for broader basket of stocks still like technology we think tech spend continues or worst today is tech spend come comes down earnings hire for customers make obviously, high prices for chips. maria: how does trump policy changes look at how you invest in stocks or does it. >> i think biggest thing focused on, number one what happens to interest rates. and you know one of the things that sticks out to us, is that we've had 18 years literally 18 years, of 10-year treasury yield being below 5%. that is a long period of time so if we hear hear from fed tomorrow still concerned about nation we think fed probably got ahead of themselves in december meeting, we reflected concern about inflation what

may happen from trump administration we do think trump administration will be with very mindful of what the bond market allowed them to do, so number one factor focused on what is the impact on interest rates, second of course is trade, has related point to interest rates, giving we think there has been more café study versus more knee-jerk reactions on tariff front, we still think there is again more pragmatic approach to follow if anything still a decent earnings picture again we would be buyers on weakness of stocks here. maria: all right. talk about earnings fourth-quarter earnings season in full swing boeing reported double miss this morning, they lost 11.8 billion dollars for the year largest decline since 2020 wrestling with issues commercial defense unities a crippling strike by west coast, meta microsoft tessa out after the bell tonight

your thoughts what do you want to do with tech names going into earnings. >> yeah, so far we are about 15% of the way through earnings we still think a reasonable expectancy 5% revenue growth expectation we've actually hit that so far. and again for the full year we think earnings probably come in 12% breath rate from bottom line we think early on track for that if anything interesting to hear some companies you mentioned their forward-looking views on capex for us biggest variable driving bullish theses on technology we see buyers on broader bass account can probably wait on semiconductor names we think big tech is still a worth while place for clients' capel looking for capks numbers still healthy. >> everybody talking capex what expecting given new threat from china, that seems to be rising, look the federal reserve kicking off meeting today two-day meeting let's

talk about macrostory cheryl casone has breaking news on durable goods numbers, just hitting the tape. cheryl: yeah headline month-over-month got me got attention, this is really what we're seeing a little bit of pressure, negative 2.2%, december durable goods month-over-month, expectation was a jump of .6%. so that is one thing. that is the big headline entire report, if you strip out transport, the month-over-month lighter than expected, up .3% street looking for a gain of .4%, but then core capital goods month-over-month came in up a half percent street looking for .3%, again, it really is that headline month-over-month negative 2.2 the concern manufacturing industry,, maria, durable goods this caused appliances machinery furniture but downturn in manufacturing larger economic picture back to you. maria: great points all around, and eric your take

here because if we're seeing a decline in some big ticket items costing so much what does that mean for decision-making from the fed jay powell will speak tomorrow at 2:30 pm eastern after two-day meeting widely expected to hold rates did after cutting last three consecutiveing meetings your reaction what that means for the fed. >> we think, maria, the professional investors markets prognosticators probable different durable goods a bit of a hall pass the reason tariff uncertainty tariff tightening so i think a little bit of brinksmanship happening where had the to purchases, at more wroel level, debate should go i stock up now, last quarter also on durable goods one thing to keep in mind product cycles lasting a lot longer in terms of replace meant of things like cars, refrigerators again things that if you drop on foot hurt kind of stuff that is just

>> reporter: good morning, maria. the road to the super bowl starts right here in ada. the craftsmen and women of this ohio factory have been meticulously working to create this. this is the official football of the nfl, and it is adorned with the names that are going to be competing for the lomb barry trophy as well as -- lombardi trophy. when the tock hit triple 0s on sunday, the people that work here immediately got to their stations to start doing their tasks and their roles to to put this together. now, one of the things that is notable about this is that, like you mentioned, every football made for the nfl is created right here in this factory in the u.s. this is something that they have been doing for years, something that wilson and the nfl have agreed on. and one of the hardest parts of this process is turning. it's what you're looking at right now.

you'll see they are just turning the leather quite literally inside out in just a couple of motions, and i want to know, it is extremely difficult. even though you see him doing it with ease, some nfl players have tried to do it, they cannot even do it. they let me try it, and i will say to give myself some grace, they did note that the machinery was much taller than it should be for someone my size. nonetheless,, the no matter your job here in this factory, everyone when works here takes a lot of pride. most of the fans here are browns fans, and even though cleveland's team has never been to a super bowl, they know that ada is represented on the world stage no matter what. take a listen. >> this ball in itself defining american craftsmanship, american manufacturing. these are made by the blood, sweat and tears of the employees from ada, ohio. so there's a lot of love that that goes into this. finish. >> reporter: willson is
