7:04 pm
looks like he will make it all republicans seemed on board he did take tough questions and heard from bothsides of aisle. >> either you will run your agency or the agency will run you. >> american people deserve an fbi director focused on keeping our families safe from terrorism, drug trafficking and violence crime. not the check list of grievances we find in this book. >> priority of fbi, if i am con firmed, will be to ensure our communities are protected and safeguarded and children have parks to play in and not needles to walk over. reporter: mr. patel asked to clarify his views on january 6, one week after president trump granted clemency to more than 1500 people involved in the january 62021 attack. patel said this. >> i do not agree with competition of a 10 se sentence of any individual

russia. >> i have seen makes it clear that at the same time you are skeptical of our intelligence community assessment you would not apply the same to information that came from sympathizers of russia. >> some senator wonder if tulsi gabbard will save guard america's secrets, she defended those meetings she had in damascus. larry: chad, thank you. i watched your live on the ground coverage of awful plane crash. you were spectacular. i just want to -- >> thank you very much. larry: you. >> i want to give a hat tip to aaron kurtz our photographer who rush touted scene and my producer, my wife. larry: that is wo wonderful, reyou were fantastic. >> thank you. larry: tragic scene. >> yes, i think afraid so. >> folks, let's move odon't
7:07 pm
believe the fake news. don't believe the fake news, don cutting spending and bureaucracy that is the subject of the riff. >> soy beltway swamp hates it president trump is bound and determined to shrink the federal budget and the massive deficit and shrink two million plus federal workforce. a score of liberal news on the lets are claiming that trump's directives to free certain federal spending was rescinded, no such thing. a memo from ombwas pulled back mainly because it was badly written. take the "washington post" for example, trump white house rescinds order, freezing federal spending, reversing course, mr. trump's executive order to put a hold on various grants and loans and credits not yet spent, continues to stand. he wants to freeze then
7:08 pm
review funding for things like d.e.i. and green new deal, he is going after misnamed inflation reduction act, and a bunch of other programs that are based on stuff called, disadd san v-- disadvantaged businesses or community, president is within his executive authority, he is not pulling back. and it the executive order that counts. all this be save close to a trillion dollars in federal spending and deficits, as far as shrink federal work force, another executive order provides a 8 month severance package to workers, who want to resign. rather than work for mr. trump, liberal media and dc swamp howl, mr. trump has the authority to do it under the civil service reform act of 1978.
7:09 pm
hat tip to "wall street journal" editorial page for pointing it out. president can rede redesignate jobs if they involve policy making at any level, be it cabinet secretary or mid level career person. mr. trump is restoring a job category, policy career, which was formally known as schedule f . that allows him to say, if you disagree with my policy, and you work against it, you are fired. well over a fast thousand civil servants have to deal with it over two million will have to figure out if they want to resign or not, odds are 5 to 10% will resign that could safe a hundred billion, if you want to stay in the game, show up for work. and yo to toricer ooe the line and don't
7:10 pm
less tony fake news, that is the riff, joining me now kentucky senator rand pull, welcome. a quickie, i don't think you were involved in tulsi gabbard or kash patel, but i'm sure you hear a lot in clcloak room, what you can share? >> you know i'm fans of both, i think we need both, we need some people in charge of our intelligence agencies to be disrupters, at fbi not politicized. same thing at other agencies. there is evidence that has been coming out for years of little bittization. -- politicalization particularly back to 2016 election fbi used add web open against donald trump's campaign, getting rid of people who are acting in a poa partisan way needs to be done, kash patel will be a good person do that and tulsi gabbard will be good to be in charge of all intelligence. larry: tape for you on the tulsi gabbard thing.
7:11 pm
>> president trump reelection is a clear mandate from american people to break the cycle of failure and weaponization and politicalization of the intelligence community, those who oppose my nomination. fly i am loyal to something or someone other than god. my own con ch conscience and constitution of united states, accusing me of bu being trump's p puppet, what un unsettles my political opponent it is, is that i refuse to be their puppet. larry: i liked part of that, we were taping in ins together, i didn't like her putting this puppet account, trump in the same category as putin or assad or modi or whatever. i just didn't understand that really. she is there to c carry
7:12 pm
out mr. trump's policies, independent way and to be loyal to the constitution like you or any of us. i was it raised my eyebrow. >> i guess reason she said it that way talking about accusations. democrats, some say she will be trump's puppet, some republicans say that. but then some other say shy will be putin a puppet, they all say she is not a true and honest person, i like her statement, faith full to god, the constitution and her oath in office, this is a huge power, power to spy on people, listen to phone calls and gather information needs to be controlled with oversight by representatives, by constitution, and we need to make sure that constitution applied to all of us here. and that we're not the victims of spying. spying and survey le -- surveillance should be used
7:13 pm
on foreigners not americans, it has been used to americans, we need someone who is skeptical of power like tulsi gabbard to be in charge. larry: i agree with that other thing, they never really swallowed is the edward snowden defense, i never understood she wanted to pardon him, she was a traitor. this is a sticking point, i just, i can't? >> edward snowden may be the greatest whistle-blower, revealing that james clapper lie to senate when he said he was not collecting data on all americans it turns out through a sen single order a to collect millions of americans metadata and phone data, who they were calling and how long they were talking this was an invasion and violation of 4 amendment,
7:14 pm
clapper who in charge came in senate told ron wyden we're not doing this we had to say he mis misstated it, we never would have known this out snowden, i don't justify the like and information. but at same time, i think there is a great dime of civil disbeadients in there and there whether is a punishment he could suffer at home, i think he would if he were allowed to come home. some people said they t want to kill him, and put him in jail forever, i think he was faithful to the constitution in exposing his own government was lying about spying on americans. >> y you know, you almost had me until that last line. he was the faithful to his government, hig of -- he is anti-american. he is a citizen in russia.
7:15 pm
>> because they will put him in jail or kill him if he comes home, he is trapped. high w -- he was faithful and revil re revealed that u.s. government was spying. larry: you know we can agree that c clapper was a liar. i will never convince me about snowed en. snowden. >> i'll keep working on that. larry: all this business about trump, cutting spending. stopping funding of guy die, and again new deal, and the misnamed inflationl reducre-- reduction
7:16 pm
act, he is determined to shrink the work force, newspapers say he won't. "washington post" in the lead, he will do it, you know he will do it i know he will. >> he is all in, i will do everything to support him on cutting spending biggest danger to our country, somewhat of a fight between conservatives and libertarians it is from within it is the debt, we have to prepare ourselves but that is not our real danger, the danger is from within, destroying the currency and country through debt, it is ak ac accumulating, we have a ream problem all entitlement programs are broke, they suck up all revenue, budget we vote on military and nonmilitary, d d dis creationnary is a third of spending that all borrowed.
7:17 pm
this problem is bigger than most people can even fathom. larry: i think you are right, agree with that i don't know whether i'm a conservative or a libertarian. i could be a libertarian conservative. >> you could be a con verve tarian. >> thank you, rand paul. >> have f fun with this just soy our federal finances and our government does not go down in flames, how about, i have not pushed this with my former boss or other associates in government. how about selling some gold backed u.s. treasury bonds? what do you think of that? >> you know it is worth a discussion. you know, most of the big paper money advocates, fiat currency ke ke
7:18 pm
keynesians have said gold is worth less. and back together with a currency and marketing it sure would be a great idea. >> gold hit a new record high today, just saying. a new record high. you are coming on the program, i talked about it with your dad all of the time, i just you thought i would ask, i am sure you will produce lefnl legislation. senator rand paul, you -- >> conserve tarian heading toward l libertarian. >> coming up, kevin warsh will tell us why the fed can't pin inflation on trump, you can catch kudlow momonday-friday 4 p.m. on

7:24 pm
larry: my pal kevin warsh writes in "wall street journal" the fed can't pin inflation on trump. a great piece. former federal reserve governor. and man about town about wall street, you read, the guys, mouth pieces of fed, you read about that, they care more about tariffs at the moment than inflation or interest rates or anything else. mr. trump has something to say about, that let's start with that they are obsessing about tariff, kevin. >> so, it is a good bay we-- a good way to dodge responsibility, in the in inflation surged long before president came in office. but inflation still a huge regressive tax on american people. so there is a new contrivance going oabout president's threatened
7:25 pm
tariffs that is the source of inflation. they don't put the same emphasis on spending cuts we think are real and are coming, and they don't spend time and attention to deregulation, they are hugely di disinflationary forces, big news of yesterday not just what fed said but when president said, president is read -- ready to take matters in his own hands he seemed more concerned about inflation. larry: that is great. so many media outlets misreported that saying he was furious at fed for not cutting interest rates, that is not true, if you read his he said you just said, j. powell and fed failed to stop the problem they created with inflation. he said i'll do it by unleashing american energy production, slashing regulation, and rebalancing
7:26 pm
trade and reigniting manufacturing, treasury will lead effort to cut unnecessary regulation, if fed spent less time on d.e.i., gender ideology, green energy, and fake climate change, inflation would never have been a problem. that is what he you are right, he is more concerned, not about slashing interest rates, but about getting inflation down it is fantastic. then the fed. >> you got that right, brother. larry: like, the media will not report this. >> so, the normal washington bl blame game to say the other guy, i thought most impressive thing that president said yesterday said blame me i'll fix this, i can't afford to wait for them. so that is an impetus for cutting and spending, deregulatory moves, he is taking responsibility, he has been on the job 10 days,
7:27 pm
it is an impressive run. larry: he has a model. it is interesting we won't agree 100%, he has an oil sentcentric model of inflation, oil permeates the economy, he said in the -- that davos speech he kind of fingered the saudis. it the take a while for -- they could increase production if they wanted to, they have been holding back, they would get prices down, would hurt russia, and help united states. >> light. if oil prices can't from 75 bucks to 55 or 60 there would be a lot of incentives for american producers on drill, baby, drill, supply would come on-line, president is responsible for, central bankers 94 geopolitics getting saudis
7:28 pm
provide more supply. they could lower prices for american consumers, might be part of a deal that brings saudis, israelis and others to a peace in middle east. >> it would hurt iranian production. >> a lot of our adversaries. larry: you write in "wall street journal" article biden had too much government spending, fed monetized it they put printing presses on overtime. and your point -- still too much money out there. chasing too few goods, there still is. here is the fed, cutting interest rates, and pumping more money into the economy. how does that get yz yz down. >> it does understand, hey have a view, economic pro fig that inflationomes if workers paid too much. the theory is wrong, the president's theory, in his own words, we.
7:29 pm
inflation comes with governmentpends too much and prints too much for preoccupation, if fed could drain money from balance sheet, shrink the size -- take that money out, interest rates could be lower, real economy could be stronger. but if you don't have right objectives or tools, then i'm afraid we'll livin a world where inflation is too high and that continues to be a burden. larry: to go to quoting president trump in his truth social, what is the fed doing? d.e.i., gender idea ol. ology, they flirted with all that. in those 4 years, only maybe last few weeks that j. powell is running away, i think what trump did was nail them. just nail them. he will make big changes in that institution when we can. >> the remit does not
7:30 pm
mention those things remit to congress gave to fed said price stability and maximum sustain able. it is not their job, and more pick to us on their day job we would not have this turmoil we're having. they focus on job number one getting prices down, it would be good, i was surprised to yesterday that fed didn't seem all that unnerved that inflation of closer to 3% than 2%, we seemed angry about it was president. >> are right, gdp report kwame out today, rather disappointing 2.3 percent, we can do better, scott bessent wants 3% plus, i think hig he is right, the pce deflate ir2.8, fed they are running other measures, they areelling at me to get out, you know
7:31 pm

7:37 pm
with you, you are not economic -- but nonetheless you know politics. people are sick to death of deficits and debt, trump saying he is issuing executive orders saying wild reduce the bureaucrats -- we'll reduce bureaucracy, and give you buyouts and severance pays, if you want to stick around, if you don't agree with my policies we'll fire you, it is legal there are laws backing him up. and yet nobody wants to report it, this is a very big deal, a tug-of-war, and trump will be the winner even when media decides, he said it, he will do it now politically think about this. >> politically, it is a great move. the public wants cutting of
7:38 pm
incompetence and waste, everyone knows that the government wastes your money, not a good steward of our tax dollars, they know from their own personal lives how they manage their own budgets, they work for companies where there are periodic buyouts like this. and it is a humane way of cutting the workforce. clinton did it, you know back in the 90s. it is not unusual, he is not bein back in the s. it is not unusual, he is not being a barbarian, he is doing the normal thing that companies and governments ought to do every now and then to sort of you know prune on the dead wood and make sure your best people shine. larry: you know, liz, a lot of this, not all, but a lot, particularly early orders, he is going after d.e.i.,
7:39 pm
and culture war, that is unpopular, and after the green new deal, you can't buy your own gasoline powered cars, very unpopular, this ised any economics and good politics. >> without a doubt, i think miranda is right, people know that government wastes a huge amount of money, ronald reagan made that line from government, i am here from the government, i am hirhere to help. compared to ronald reagan time it is just so frustrating talk to small business owners, they go crazy with the regulations, and all of the rules not just state, and local, it is also federal government which never bothered people, now it is bothering people, i raii think that people of fed up, the idea of attacking it is popular. larry: tear klein, numbers here. -- caroline, favb
7:40 pm
favorability of two parties, a "quinnipiac poll," democrats have 31% favorable republicans 43. actually democrats 31 to 57, trump, 43, 45. he is we'll call it flat, democrats down. the democrats are unhinged. their heads are spinning. you see it. not only in economic stuff that we're talking about but in the confirmation hearings, they can jabber on either they take cheap shots or sleaze or smears, soar talking about january 6. i love it in a way, they talk about stuff no one cares about. and was rejected and november 5, that is all they got. they don't have a policy in mind. >> to me, it seems that democratic party is dying, i think they still can't wrap
7:41 pm
their heads around fact their treatment of this multiethnic working class coalition was shattered by trump, the warning signs were there for years, since obama left office. i think democrats failed to understand working class and minority voters took 1414 frfr african-american and hispanics for granted. i think they are still in denial about, that then, the they responded to trump. their backlash to trump they dug their grave deeper by plunging into progressive activism. larry: i was to say, his briefly watching -- my friend kash patel. he is being cross-examined bicepper to dick durbin, i know by the way.
7:42 pm
all he wanted to know, then the guy from vermont, did the same, welch. >> not bernie sanders. larry: no, it was the peter welch all they wanted to talk about is who won 2020 election, they wanted kash patel to say biden won, he said, he was the legitimately elected certified inaugurated president. and they went on like this, back and forth. first, so bad and terrible for 5ty of ratings. but -- tv ratings, but is that all you got, he will take over the fbi, and all things they have been crazy damaging american citizens, they want to fiddle with who won the 2020 election? miranda devine, i ask you, how stupidly unhinged is that.
7:43 pm
>> it is pathetic and shallow and typical, it is what they did with pete hegseth, this country has enormous challenging ahead on domestically with crime, foreign threats. and these guys are in these positions of power, all they care about is, fighting oil -- old wars and calling trump hitler that is why they are so unpopular. they want something fresh that is what trump is offering, popularity now of republican party comparatively to democrats are more popular than almost 20 year, that is trump republican party it a big wwake-up call to rinos. the never-trumpers they lost. >> you wrote a great column about rfc, liz -- rfk, liz,
7:44 pm
just, not yet sold on tulsi gabbard. i'm not. >> i think she is more difficult for me also than rfk jr., he has nutty things in his background but he is tackling or wants to tackle our health care system it is so broken and has so many problems, yes, we need disruption. i think that tulsi gabbard is a different cet e kettle of fish, i think people don't believe her flip flop. how far she will ta take the intelligence gathering. there is not the amount of lobbying dollars that big ag and big food companies and
7:45 pm
big pharma throw at senators, i don't know if there will be an organized attack on her, i'm not sure either one gets -- >> with rfk jr., i heard among many things, i don't care what he said about vaccines 10 years ago, i could care less. a distinguished conservative newspaper attacked him for stopping drilling in new york. he said that he was there to execute president trump's policies. and i thought that was terribly important. there are clever, but purpose, and hopefully true. i didn't watch the whole tulsi gabbard thing, i didn't hear her say that, he walked around it. the edward snowden thing as i said ta rand paul sticks in my craw. i just want, i want to know that shy is s she
7:46 pm
is on the time, i think that many republican senators, we're running out of time. >> review opposed both tulsi gabbard and robert f. kennedy jr., i descend on rfk, a lot of people claim he is a rogue actor who is really just destroying trust in medical apparatus and will go to war against big pharma and big food that is popular among the new cohort make america healthy again on the right, a lot of old school liberals switched to trump. especially women, rfk pledged that issue that people are worried about abortion, he made concessions i will not allow tax payer funding, he is willing to work with trump's coalition that includes traditional conservatives, and he will defer to his boss.
7:47 pm
>> and tulsi, i did not hear it, i -- i don't know. i'm not campaigns again it, i'm just having trouble. >> i think a with the of people are. they are afraid she will act too independent of trump. larry: that is what i heard today. i want her to be constitutional independent okay. but the matter of intelligence, this is policy too. and trump is the president. and done i didn't hear that from her. >> in first term, too many people not to the trump train you. >> are 100%. anyway, liz peek, miranda devine and caroline downey thank you. >> coming up we'll talk some about all this with alabama senator the great tommy tuberville, we'll be right back.

they have -- they have been fight back to some degree. but, president trump knows again, knows how to get them to turn, new president. this lady that took over president of mexico. what -- 6 or 7 months ago, is a total communist, she is farther to left than last president. we have problem with businesses in alabama in mexico it is a disaster, we have to a have a better relationship with mexico, they need us more than we need them. larry: i noticed, i read our posting on the internet america's facing a public health crisis, you support robert f. kennedy jr., i thought he it a very good job, yesterday. and i myself riffed in his favor, we have a public health crisis, that we're in denial about. maybe a robert f. kennedy
7:55 pm
