do think and i was writing this and the thing was changing every 30 minutes but i did think it was a negotiating tactic. i do think there is really no reason why mexico and canada should not help us secure our borders, why is that negative for those countries, why should they want to have fentanyl coming into our country which by the way in 2023 killed 70,000 americans more than from gun violence which we hear about every 30 seconds from the left, more than car crashes, this was a horrible thing that happened to the united states, totally appropriate for donald trump to take on the people who are aiding and abetting that and unconscionable that president biden never did a thing. it is really the open border had so many things wrong but this is inexcusable. stuart: thanks for your contribution today, outstanding as usual. got to get to the markets, i see red ink especially the nasdaq which is down 125, the

dow close to 200 points, got that. i want to talk big tech. across-the-board, big tech is under pressure, in particular it is apple and google. of we reached a pivotal point, a wonderful run for big tech, how we reach the end of that run and it is it now headed south? >> there's probably some bad news out of the market. i would say it is more or less the end of panama but not the end of making money. what just happened, everybody too quickly wanted to shrug it off, do they only spent 5. 6 million, did they only do it in two months, probably not. a lot of that stuff is probably not true. however, i woke up in the states to competition and maybe it is not going to be as easy as everybody thought it was going to be. we will see great growth, they will see great promise and the

s&p will be up 10% to 15% for the year. it will be between probably the low end of the year between 4. 5% % to 5.5% this year so i think it will be okay, not as great as it was. people are getting so used to things being so fantastic, now the we interjected a little competition i look for stem altman, when he heard about this he said fine, we will bring out our stuff and compete with them. i love competition, that's the america i know, we will compete but it won't be as easy as people thought it would be in the beginning. stuart: i saw the price of gold approaching $2900 an ounce today, record high. do you ever dabbled in gold, is now the time to put some money there? >> not going to buy it at an all-time record high, something i wouldn't do but it has been a good barometer of how people are feeling out there.

these tariffs, there are some nerves in the market about the tariffs, even in the ad sector and i'm sure the model and the tech sector. that's a problem. you have other issues with the economy and inflation and i will make a big statement, i think by the end of this year inflation will be a bigger story than tariffs, tariffs are story right now but this inflation issue is not going to go and the longer it sticks around the bigger deal it is going to be. keep an eye on that. i will talk about that on my show but inflation will overtake tariffs as the big story and that will be a problem for trump. stuart: thanks for joining us, always good. thanks. come on in, ashley, we've not spoken to you yet this morning. hello again, ashley. stuart: clearly it was memorable. you are looking at the movers, get me out of this, tell me about supermicro.

ashley: talking about the chipmaker. full production of its nvidia powered ai data center, it is up 6. 4%, nvidia itself up 3%. another chipmaker, amd, simply falling out of bed this morning after posting its fourth quarter report. investors not happy with the data center revenue. that came in below estimates, stock as you can see taking it on the chin, down essentially 10% and take a look at workday, the hr solutions company just announcing a major restructuring plan that includes nearly 1800 job cuts, that's about 8.5% of the workforce. analysts say those will be invested in artificial intelligence. the stock, investors like the news, up 2.5%. stuart: sometimes older people forget what they were talking about ten seconds ago. it will happen to you. it certainly happens to me.

stuart: big tech taking on the chin, the nasdaq leading indicators to the downside. it is down 88 points. the dow is up a near 30. the senate banking committee is holding a hearing on accusations that big banks refuse to do business with conservative clients. what is this claim about? >> reporter: this happens when a bank refuses to do business with a particular customer or
