the dow now is under a hundred point gain up 89 nasdaq is still well above 200 up 228 points. jason joining me now. jason what about expectations with regard to the markets? it has been a little bit of a seesaw going on here in the past several weeks what do you think is going to happen going forward? are we going to have to see some major change in the economy before markets start roaring again? look everyone is so obsessed about these tariffs frankly i think we're tboipg look back in hindsight like in the first trump administration, and a blip on the radar you talked about cpi coming this week we're finally at least for today focusing on macro economics, and we should be focusing on the micro mainly corporate earnings that continue to exceed expectations of the companies not reported nearly 80% have beat expectations. >> wow. >> so in order for markets to

based on what donald trump is said, what kind of reaction do you expect from him to that word? >> well, i think you're going to see president trump try to increase the pressure on hamas. they've been slow rolling these hostage releasing already. and as we just heard from the president some of these hostages are not in the best of condition either so a lot more pressure from president trump to get them out quicker if he feels that they are not moving, that hamas is really on the hostage releases then i think we may see some direct action. >> and israel is hopping mad. obviously, the president is just explaining what we saw but the israelis have such a personal stake in all of this. now that the next release has been delayed, i'm just thinking they may do something on their own, no? >> well, absolutely. israel has been taking matters in its own hands already. the different dynamic right now is you have a close relationship

between president trump and prime minister netanyahu. so i think they will be coordinating about what actions to take and i think, netanyahu would welcome direct involvement from the united states as well and that would send a pldges to hamas about the future that it is no more business as usual. david: next is closer to your old portfolio ukraine president zelenskyy said that president trump's plan for a quick settlement in urn must not only stop the war but also ensure that there can no longer be anymore russian aggression. is that going a step too far for vladimir putin? >> no. it shouldn't. nobody wants war. the president has been very clear we need to end the carnage stop this war. and just a temporary cease-fire that then putin violates and attacks again that's not goods enough. we have to have a cease-fire. deterrence, and burden sharing those are the three touch stones i think where president trump is going.

in terms of the number of people but the number of issues that it involves itself so much so that this the supreme court has had on a couple of times recently has had to opine on pushing them back. pushing their authority back has -- has in a way the bureaucracy of america unelected bureaucracy become a fourth branch of government? >> i think that's right and fighting back against a lot of trump executive orders including the eye unions who represent the bureaucracy over time it is ballooned. but to your point about the -- that what we call the administrative state, yes, the supreme court has sought to essentially reign them in, and in particularly with this low bright enterprises decision a couple of years ago that says well, no -- the judges do not have to pay difference to the administrative states interpretation of quote unquote vague laws that means that judges can say laws are not

regulators but this is -- part of the project of reigning in that administration a judicial project but it is also partly the executive branch's job too. >> and now we're finding out all of this information about how our money has been wasted really -- not just millions not just billions i think trillions of dollars over the years have been wasted in terms of fraud and abuse. and yet yet we have a democratic senator andy saying democrats are ready to shut down the government over president trump executive actions. roll it. >> are you prepared to shut down the government to join democratic colleagues who want to stand this the way of keeping government open? >> you have to look at what the trump administration is doing right now they're simply trying to -- they are simply trying to dismantle the government. so yes, look if we have to take steps to be able to hold them accountable use the money we have to force it i cannot support efforts that will continue this lawlessness that we're seeing when it comes to this administration actions.
