>> this is a new doj, and we are taking steps to protect americans, american citizens and and angel moms. new york has chosen to prioritize illegal aliens over american citizens. it stops, it stops today. as you know, we sued illinois, and new york didn't listen. so now you're next. larry: boom. and our new sheriff bondi's going after something called the green light law in which allows illegal immigrants to to get driver's licenses and stops the dmv from telling i.c.e. about it. so general bondi sued state, sued new york state all the a way, all the trump derangement syndrome operatives including so-called a.g. letitia james and manhattan d.a. alvin bragg.

just for the heck of it, bondi threw in the dmv commissioner. the point here is the new trump justice department is busting through sanctuary cities and states left and right. bondi's already hit illinois, now he's going to hit new york and, of course, the far-left james bragg, left-wing, soviet-like cabal deserves everything they get for their attempted weaponization jihad against donald trump where they tried to throw him in jail for 7 to00 -- 700 years and bankrupt him. that was one of the greatest miscarriages of justice in history. now, whether a.g. bondi had that in mind, we'll never know. but bravo to her for correctly arguing that federal law supersedes state and local law. and giving tom homan and his i.c.e. brigade the right to capture and deport the murderers and rapists who have broken the law. there's no escape for them under the new trump-appointed

sheriffs, and these local yokel new york officials can wine as -- whine as much as they want, but the voters' tide has a turned against them. and then we come to the case of mayor eric add also a -- adams whose biggest crime during the biden years was to begin to cooperate with federal officials to stop the flood of illegals coming into the red apple. so the bidens weaponized him. a phony indictment from biden's justice department tried to lay him out basically for doing nothing more than taking a couple of first class airplane tickets and helping a foreign embassy get a faster repair job. so the trump-bondi justice department dropped the indictment against mayor adams, and now you have a couple of assistant u.s. attorneys screaming like banshees with highly visible resignation letters that the no one really cares about. lefty news outlets are telling us how brilliant these former prosecutors are.

crisis is taking place within our judicial branch where district court judges in liberal districts across the country are abusing hair power to unilaterally -- their power to unilaterally block president trump's basic executive authority. from. larry: okay. so let's carve this up a little bit. caroline downey, going to to start with you on this. there's no constitutional issue here. the issue, it seems to me, is that a there's a budgets spending crisis, there's a deficit crisis, there's a debt crisis, there's an inflation crisis, there's a middle class and lower income working people's crisis. that's the crises. and democrats refuse to address them. that that's the way i read this. there's nothing to do with the constitution. democrats are standing for whom? for the unelected bureaucracy. >> absolutely. i find it ironic that democrats

are pearl clutching about the constitutional crisis, oh, trump's going to defy the courts. wait a minute, isn't this same party that demonized the supreme court as ill legitimate for the past four years? if illegitimate? i find that ridiculous. and it is true that trump cannot dissolve these agencies without congressional approval we all know that to be true. the impoundment power, that's a real thing that you can't necessarily violate. but it is absolutely the prerogative of the president to cancel ideological spending on reckless ends such is as usaid's, you know, frivolous spending and scandals and fema, as i said, funding an illegal alien shelter that ended up harboring criminal. and he can redistrict that -- redirect that funding to patriotic ends. right now we have a pause on a lot of these agencies. i don't expect them to be eliminated altogether without congress -- larry: one can only hope. >> but we can actually get more bang for our buck as a taxpayers.

or someone like nancy pelosi who, you know, larry -- larry: i actually do -- >> she somehow always manages to outperform the rest of the tock market and hedge funds -- larry: she's a brilliant investor. [laughter] yeah. whenever i went into her office as she was shaking us down for budget spending deals, she was poring over s&p tables and analyst profit forecasts. no, i'm just kidding. playing along with you. none of that nonsense ever happened. but i think it is an important point. i want to move move on to another issue, but it is an important point. this is about politics. it has nothing to do with the law or the constitution or anything like that. ask you're right, tomi, if they want to be stupid, we'll met them be stupid. it will go on for quite some time. okay. can we, tomi lahren, can we get rid of the education department? that's the mandate. linda mcmahon had her first testimony today on her confirmation hearing. can we get rid of it? >> i'm not sure. that's a logistical question.

however, exposing it and saying this department is supposed to exist to improve education, well, why we doing so poorly in education? if if the agency is not adding to that a goal, then maybe we need to reimagine -- you know how the left wants to reimagine policing? they need to reimagine the the education department. let's use their words against them. they want to cover up for failure, they want to cover up for those that are making money while failing, and elon musk and doge, he's the richest man in the world. he's not going to stand for that. and he's doing it on behalf of the american people. what a philanthropist. larry: you know, that reminds m- [laughter] a lot of people were calling him corrupt, like he was going to gain from this position he has. when you're worth $400 billion, how much more can you get? i mean, what do you think -- we're making him down. he's not shaking us down. finish he's got money. the u.s. budget is bankrupt. >> you know this game that they play, they accuse us of doing the things that they're doing. so when they label elon musk as

corrupt or, you know, that's they're -- that's what they're doing of they're worried about being exposed in all this. the beauty of what the trump administration is doing, particularly with doge, there are no sacred cows. and the only way you can actually cut government or reform government and reform spending is by having no sacred cows. far too often they're like, oh, we need to cut spending, but we need to save this program. but this, but that. and at the end of the day, you've cut nothing. you don't eliminate anything. i think the beauty of what they're doing, no to sacred cows, everything's on the table. larry: on that point, just to follow up, it's an important point, and the buts come from republicans as well. >> true. >> fair. larry: elon musk gives this cut spending, downsize ised government, deregulate government, he's the jet fuel behind this. i mean, even with all of his commanding presence and gilens, i don't think -- guile, i don't

think president trump could or would go this far were it not for elon. i call it jet fuel. we watched it in the oval office meeting yesterday or the day before where president trump let him talk for quite a while which, i mean, i've been in that position. it's quite an honor. and, again, it just -- i mean, he's the jet fuel. caroline, you've had -- >> well, i was going to -- larry: you don't like jet fuel. larry: all right. i spoke to the new ag secretary, brooke rollins, earlier today to. her first inte view since being confirmed. take a listen, please. okay. we welcome to the show the new agriculture secretary, u.s. agriculture secretary, first interview since she was confirmed, old friend of mine. madam secretary, brooke rollins, welcome. >> larry kudlow, what a joy to be here with you at our old home, frankly. larry: yes, right. [laughter] here we are again. terrific stuff. congratulations on your confirmation. and so forth of. brooke, i want to tart off, you know, people waking up in the morning having some bacon and eggs for breakfast. eggs here over $9 a dozen. they used to be under 3. if you have a nice breakfast in the morning, you can practically go bankrupt. is there something you can do as the agriculture secretary? >> well, first of all, harry,

what a joy to be on with you, and what an amazing opportunity, right, that president trump -- i know both you and i have worked alongside him and for him for many years at this point. for me to have this just huge blessing to be part of this team, larry, to continue to work alongside you and others to save the country now in a different platform and perspective one of my greatest blessings. as far as it goes, or you know, the president was very, very clear in his top priorities, securing the border, no new wars. but one of his top ones was grocery prices. we heard him say this for the last year or so as he was campaigning. it clearly continues to be a very significant issue. i as the mom of pour growing teenagers especially can understand -- [laughter] this cost of groceries. if so i've been less than 24 hours on the job, but we've already done several briefings on the avian flu, how that has affected the cost of eggs. but really, larry, this goes back before that. and the biden administrations with the regulations and if all

the rules expect cost of inputs and the decrease in exports for our ag community has certainly had a massive impact as well. larry: yeah. i think the bidens missed the whole story, and they had no plans for the air a january flu and the impact on eggs or whatever else, and now the question is, you know, is there a way to stomp out the flu? do you work with health secretary kennedy? i don't know, how does that work? >> yeah. well, bobby and i, amazingly enough, both cot got confirmed yesterday, one right after the other. he went first, i went second. and he and i have already begun to discuss, you know, he's so focused on chronic disease and getting america healthy again. but this is part of that, to your point, larry. he and i have not discussed this issue yet, but i've got a call with him later today, we'll be talking this weekend, want to ensure that we're all on the same page moving forward. there are countries that don't have the same kind of cases of avian flu like we do in america. what are they doing in what are their best practices?

how do we model that that and, ultimately, how do we get our egg layers producing again and get these prices down? larry: you know, yesterday, of course, president trump announced his new reciprocity trade policy. you and i are both quite familiar with his thinking on that. but, you know, i'll go back to the phase one china trade deal that we negotiated back in 2018, 2019, signed it in early 2020 the before the pandemic set in. and china never made good on their promise in that deal to purchase farm and farm-related commodities. american farmers got the horse end of the stick. president trump had to replenish them to make them whole. but, i mean, with respect to reciprocity in trade deals, i mean, american farmers never got the purchases from china, and i think manager still has to be done -- something still has to

be done about that. >> you're right, larry. and here's what i think is really important to understand, that the american farmer, our agriculture community is in worse position today than they've been in perhaps 1000 years. we've -- 100 years. we've lost 150,000 family farms. the cost of inputs are up almost 30. we have to get our arms around this, get american products into the market but hold those accountable just like what china has done that this is not okay. you and i both know where the president is on this. the american people certainly know where he is on this. they voted for him and his vision. but ultimately, we also know where president trump is with our ag community, our farmers and ranchers. truly the backbone of america. we need the fun and the -- the country and the -- we field the country and the world. so i have all the confidence every decision this president makes will insure that our ag community is protected, elevated and sees prosperity like never before. larry: all right. a little bit different topic but related, elon musk and the doge

team coming around. is there going to be a doge audit of usda? how do you see that? can we save some money? what's happening there, brooke? >> larry, i just this morning gave my welcome speech, and we with had almost 700 people in the atrium at the united states department of agriculture. and, of course, casted the vision of rural prosperity and bringing the american ag and farmer and rancher back to be the able to make money, to pass down their family farms. but i also pivoted. i wanted to be very, very clear that this is a new day for us darks. this is the day -- usda. dei is no longer a driver. this is the day where climate policies no no longer hold the first eat at the table. this is -- seat at the table. this is the day where we welcome with open arms and with joy the elon musk team into our department. 106,000 employees, 29 the divisions. -- 29 divisions. this is a massive, massive federal agency, and we desperately need to make sure we

are aligned, we are efficient, we're stronger than ever before and we're serving the customers. the customers are not serving us. and i think that's perhaps a bit of a change, and it'll be maybe a little bit painful at the beginning, but i have no doubt that at the end of this, this usda and all of our federal agencies will be in so much better position than we've ever been before at least in modern history. larry: so i just want to know, brooke rollins, on a personal level, has the usda ever had a female, texas a&m aggie at the helm? i just want to know all about that. can you characterize how tough it is to get something through committee but then moving it to the floor, that's a completely different animal? if. >> it is. yeah, we've got work to do as we always do on any measure that's this consequential, because we have a very diverse conference, and we have to get everybody onboard. but we will. we'll get it done. >> reporter: here's the problem, the brass wrote the bill to match conservative demands on the budget committee, however, that could be a problem with moderates. nicole malliotakis worries that $4.5 a billion in tax cuts could blow a hole in the deficit. republicans want to increase spending for the border and the pentagon. >> yeah a that's a concern of mine. i think we've all sort of expressed that that concern. it's $4.5 trillion does not leave a lot of room to do the president's priorities. i hair a lot of those priorities particularly as it relates to s.a.l.t. and reducing taxes for our seniors. >> reporter: malliotakis mentioned s.a.l.t., the 2017 tax bill imposed a cap of $10,000 on

deductions for state and local taxes. republicans from high-tax states could bawling if that provision is not -- balk if that provision is not shored up. it's about the math. >> the numbers you have to pay attention to are 218 and a 251. 218 to pass anything in the house and 51 to get anything through the senate. as we think about the limits on what we can do, what are the opportunities, the possibilities out there. finish. >> reporter: thune and other gop senators wrote to president trump, they want to make the 2017 tax cuts permanent. no sunset. house republicans could reduce the tax cut ifs if they fail to find -- cuts if they fail to find offsets. larry in. larry: chad, just one other point. i was reading manager -- make you just mentioned it, the offset, the volume of tax cuts is going to be tied to the volume of spending cuts. some sort of linkage there. any thoughts on that? >> reporter: yeah, that's exactly what's going on.

we capture9ed it last night on tape. the budget committees create their own baseline. they do not have to rely on the cbo. the cbo has to score finish. >> that's true. larry: and the policy baseline s should be scoring ax -- tax policy, tax extensions as neutral, all right? byron donalds said this last night. neutral scoring, and they're not doing it. and as a result, they're jeopardizing the whole package, stephen. it's driving me moderately craze sid. >> yeah. i'm pulling my hair out too, larry. why are they making so complicated? you've got an extremely popular president with the wind at his back, with a huge voter mandate to do this. why don't they tomorrow have an up or down vote on making the trump tax cuts permanent? and every republican should be in favor of that. and then we can have a debate about -- look, there's nobody in washington who wants to cut government spending more than i do.

i've devoted three and a half decades of my life to this. but it is absolutely essential that this tax cut get done, or the republicans are going to be raising taxes by $3,000 for every family next year. it's a great way to blow up any republican majority. so do the tax cut, get it done. why do they have -- what is taking so long, larry? larry: create their own baseline. >> why can't they just do it right now in. larry: i know the senate seems to want two bills, but, john carney, the senate leaders including majority leader john thune, they agree with mr. crapo about the tax cuts being current policy and neutral, john carney. they agree with him. and i don't know why the house budget committee can't do that. again, let me just stipulate, the budget committees have the legislative authority. this is part of the reck reconciliation process, part of the law. they create the baseline, not the congressional budget office. which always a gets it wrong anyway, john carney. >> that's right. there's no reason for them to

accept that the sunsetting tax cuts is the baseline and that they need to just -- everything else increases the deficit. but i also think that steve moore is absolutely right. there's no reason to worry about a trying to balance the budget in this bill. do the tax cuts now, and then we can spend the next few years fixing the overpending of the federal government -- overspending. we have to get the tax cuts in right now, as soon as people start to fear that that's not coming through -- >> yes. >> -- we will see an economic calamity to occur. march arkansas yeah. you should are heard -- >> i add something to that, larry? larry: newt gingrich talked about the economic calamity and the political calamity, okay? if that was newt's point. >> it is. larry: you know, 2026 could be a political calamity if they keep waiting and waiting or just don't get it done at all, steve. i mean, that's what you were going to say. please, go ahead, say it. if. >> okay. what i was going to say, to add

to what a you guys were just talking about, is the congressional budget office score for the cost of the 10 is 10-year -- 10-year extension of the tax cut is $4 trillion. that's the most insane, crazy, lunatic score, and i've been doing this a long time. that isn't even close to the truth. these are the same people who seven years ago, you were there, larry, they told us it would cost $2 trillion to do the tax cut, and, in fact, the revenues have come in higher than if we hadn't done it at all. why are we living under congressional budge office which doesn't seem to know -- they have a cracked crystal ball. and you're right about this, there is no law that says the republicans have to live under this congressional budget office. larry: right. >> because they've been wrong, wrong, wrong for 40 years. larry: they can make their own baseline. john carney, remaining time, reciprocal trade policy, john carney. i kind of think this is right up your alley, but give us a little hint. >> it is. we've been talking about this for a long time, larry. donald trump is saying to the
