tonya chutkin gave the green light to doge rejecting 14 democrat state a.g.'s and their demand for a temporary restraining order to block doge from researching data and waste at federal agencies and also, blocking doge from firing government workers. now they can do it. doge is now clocking in tens of billions of dollars in taxpayer savings. we are still less than one month into the trump white house. hillary vaughn is on capitol hill with more on the story. hillary? reporter: good evening liz. doge has saved u.s. taxpayers $55 billion so far. they are also going on a hunt for $4.7 trillion that they say has left the treasury but is almost impossible to trace because before doge, a majority of payments made at the treasury didn't need to be tied to a budget item, leading to trillions in mystery spending. white house counselor to president trump says she wouldn't be surprised if some of those trillions ended up in people's pockets right here in d.c. >> trillions of dollars with no name, no identifier, that could

just be spent. now do we believe there's fraud? absolutely. you're looking at somehow some of these bureaucrats from d.c. that have never left but then make hundreds of thousands of dollars and are somehow worth tens of millions of dollars. do we believe there's a chance they could be funneling these to ngo's with interest? reporter: today doge could be getting access to the irs sensitive payment system that holds taxpayer records. doge is also eying social security for fraud. democrats hope the courts step in and stop it . there's already lawsuits filed on this that once again just like with the irs data, the court, a court, will find that no, you can't just start rifling around, rum aging through people's social security data. reporter: musk isn't snooping, he's looking for fraud saying "if i wanted to rum age through random perm stuff, i could have done that at paypal, hello, having tens of millions of people marked in social security as alive when they are definitely dead is a huge problem." and the social security inspector general knows that
5:06 pm
it's a huge problem. the ig flagged between 2015 and 2022 social security made $72 billion worth of improper payments. liz? liz: hillary vaughn, great reporting thank you so much. now please listen to this. >> president trump has directed elon musk and the doge team to identify fraud at the social security administration. they haven't dug into the books yet but they suspect that there are tens of millions of deceased people who are receiving fraudulent social security payments. >> you have, for example, foreign fraud rings. these are foreign nationals who come into the united states, they use fake social security numbers, fake identities, to steal billions in taxpayer benefits. there's no way to know until doge gains full access exactly how much money we're talking about, but over a 10-year normal budget window, you could be talking about say anything over a trillion dollars by clamping down on massive fraud and our tax and en titlement systems,
5:07 pm
including again those carried out by organized fraud and theft rings. liz: okay. that was press secretary karoline leavitt. and trump advisor stephen miller on the massive problems doge is uncovering at social security. we're hearing doge will launch a new algorithm to knockout social security fraud. you know, this is really interesting stuff. we were just researching the news coming in. let's bring in from house judiciary new jersey congressman jeff van drew. congressman, can you help us out? great to have you on we appreciate you for joining us. democrats, we don't understand why democrats are trying to stop trump and doge saving taxpayer money, stopping corruption and waste. we don't understand why the social security acting chief tried to block doge. now we're seeing federal judge, she's the third democrat judge to say yes, give the green light to doge. that democrats don't have a standing to block it. this is a victory for doge but why are democrats trying to block doge? >> i think it's crazy. i think they are making a tactical, political mistake.

it's the wrong thing to do. what you really have to understand here is that every dollar that is wasted, every dollar that goes to transgender in colombia, that goes to purchasing condoms for the taliban, that goes for muppet productions, you know, at various locations around the world. what are we doing? and when you do that, this is the important thing, liz. when you do that, you take away from real americans and real problems, so if you really do care about people's social security and care about their medicare, then you should care that there's not waste, fraud, and abuse and that every dollar goes back to the deserving americans who work their whole life to receive those dollars. that's the thing here. when money is wasted, when you abuse the system, you hurt american people. why would democrats want to be? why would they want to be in the side of hurting american people? liz: you know, how can these
5:09 pm
numbers be real at social security? now we're finding 25 million people over the age of 100, that's who social security claims is over 100, 25 million? nearly 9 million are age 100 years old to 159? the cents us bureau says it's just about 86,000 or 100 years old and they have one person older than the u.s. constitution and older than america itself at 360 years old. there's got to be fraud here. they have 60 million more people in social security than the u.s. population, so there has to be fraud but the house democrats, are launching a litigation task force to sue the trump white house to stop all this. >> and you know what? even the democrat judges that were appointed by democrats realize it as well. thank god for once, they are really doing the right thing. i mean, clearly, the president has the right to look at all of this and make sure that we can stop the weaponization, stop the fraud and abuse. any president has that right but

elon musk is not making the decisions about where moneys going to be spent, where it's going to be cut, what the programs are going to be. he's simply evaluating and pointing out the huge problems that we have which by the way are beyond anything that you could imagine. this is like being in a surreal world. this is bizarre world. this is worse than, we knew it was bad, liz. honest had god, we just didn't know how bad. and it hurts the american people. liz: give the money back to the american people. it's their money. >> yes. liz: they keep raising taxes to pay for this. it is the american people's money. d.c. works for america. not the other way around. jeff van drew, thank you, congressman good to see you now listen to this. >> thank you. >> this whole sort of like, they call it like trump derange. syndrome, and you don't realize how real this is until you can't reason with people. so like i was at a friend's birthday party, just a dinner

during the 2008 recession or how about the numerous people put out of work by joe biden canceling the keystone pipeline and i distinctly remember as well, liz, the media telling people who were working in the energy sector that in order to implement the green new deal, they would just have to learn to code and find new jobs as opposed to being able to work in coal, oil, and gas, so it's ridiculous that they expect us to shed a tear over government bureaucrats and outside contractors who have worked from home in their pajamas over the past four years and contributed nothing of value to the american taxpayer. liz: you make a good point. where is the "60 minutes" episode on john kerry and joe biden telling u.s. oil & gas worker toss go code after they shutdown their jobs. so, is this the real story that these communications consultants, they aren't staffers. they were also not overseeing how taxpayer money was wasted at usaid.
