joins us with his reaction in just a few moments also this story tonight. >> this is causing a lot of emotional distress. i talk to colleagues every single day that are feeling tormented, terrorized by the attacks by doge and elon musk. >> people who go to work every day to fight for them are being fired, illegally. >> so what can you do now? can you do anything now? are you going to do anything now? >> of course my colleagues and i are fighting back. our union is already in court. >> i felt absolutely infuriated getting this e-mail with a demand within 48 hours to provide a response. this is clearly an attempt from elon musk to harass and bully and intimidate the federal workforce. liz: we've got this debate. government workers are spending more time in the mediacom plaining about doge, cutting government waste and corruption than e-mailing back elon musk and doge on what exactly they
5:03 pm
worked on last week. why are they not touting what they do for american taxpayers? tonight, the latest on elon musk's e-mail deadline, former home depot and chrysler ceo bob nardelli says what are they talking about? private sector workers do this all the time. he's here to react. also this story for you. >> anybody could go down 300 to 3,000 feet in a mine, sure in hell could learn how to program as well. liz: democrats forgetting that time they told oil & gas workers fired due to biden's crackdown and he told them to just go code. but now president trump reportedly wants to bring back the keystone pipeline as soon as possible. biden canceled that on his first day in office. doing the keystone pipeline could create thousands of u.s. jobs. tonight a former keystone pipeline worker who lost his job under biden. he joins us and will react but first this story. >> the breaking news that president trump and ukraine agrees to a deal to develop ukraine's rare earth minerals and oil & gas too.
5:04 pm
the deal reportedly involves ukraine contributing half of its future minerals revenue to a joint fund, all of this to help rebuild war torn nation. edward lawrence is live at the white house breaking the news on this story. edward what do we know now? good to see you. reporter: good to see you and what we know is reuters reporting this deal terms have been agreed to between the u.s. and ukraine related to this deal. now i'm told that nothing has been signed as of yet and there's other reporting out that says this is a little premature because the document is still in the works but this is the deal that was first submitted to the ukrainian president with treasury secretary scott bessent and president trump within the past hour saying he's hearing president zelenskyy will be here at the white house friday to sign the deal and then adding what zelenskyy has been asking for for a long time in this deal is weapons. the white house press secretary saying that the deal between the u.s. and ukraine would allow americans to get back the money they spent in direct assistance as well as security for ukraine
5:05 pm
knowing the u.s. is a long-term vested interest there. >> the president inherited this mess because of the incompetence of the previous administration and he's committed to fixing it and he's made some of those concessions clear but i'm not going to get ahead of him on additional ones but he's committed to striking a peace deal and russia and ukraine also in the middle east. reporter: so again, nothing has been signed with this but the president did say in the oval office that the weapons would continue to ukraine, possibly until russia signs a peace deal. now that would flip the pressure from ukraine to sign this joint venture deal which it appears may have happened according to reuters to russia now, signing a peace deal otherwise the u.s. will continue with ukraine with arms. liz: edward lawrence great reporting as always thank you so much. let's bring in for his reaction, american majority ceo ned ryun. your take on this deal. we were previewing this could be coming as of yesterday, we reported it yesterday.
5:06 pm
you know, it sounds pretty smart to do an economic deal to help develop ukraine's rare earth's and oil & gas inside ukraine because that could ward off russia attacking american companies, and american businesses helping out zelenskyy. >> absolutely. i mean, there's a huge win for trump or it's looking like it will be a huge win for trump. he ran on ending the war in ukraine. he made it very clear he was going to bring about a peace deal and he was also going to make sure that we ended the abuse of the american taxpayer. i mean, to give perspective, liz, ukraine probably has about $11 trillion worth of rare minerals in the country, and 50% of that going into a joint fund. it is going to actually bring about a sovereign and prosperous ukraine while at the same time hopefully paying back every dime owed the american taxpayer plus some, so trump deserves credit. he's bringing about peace. he's bringing about a solid economic deal for ukraine and
5:07 pm
the american taxpayer and at the same time, liz, he's also putting pressure on europe and "the situation" they have to step up to the plate and do a better job at their own security and defense, so right now, it's looking like a whole series of wins for trump. liz: now let's move on to this. the media and democrats have been attacking elon musk and doge, telling federal workers to e-mail doge what they accomplished last week. the private sector worker does this all the time. he's also saying come back into the office or get fired. thousands still work-from-home. watch this. >> elon musk has zero legal authority to fire government employees or force their resignations. these people don't report to elon musk. >> this nonsensical e-mail from elon musk acting like we're in kindergarten. >> it's like make you cry more sort of environment, where both trump and musk are performing for the maga base. >> the new trump administration is rev eling in its bad knuckle
5:08 pm
approach to governing. >> this is so sloppy, the way that elon musk is handling this. liz: let's go through it. the u.s. debt is now 38 trillion. interest on the debt is bigger than switzerland's gdp. that's what u.s. taxpayers have to pay. taxes increasingly going up, bond yields rocketing around because the fear is that the bond market cannot handle the massive borrowing that's going on with the u.s. government and with the fed money printing. we know that 30% under biden. i want to get to this. what do you make of they are saying doge has access to taxpayer info. u.s. treasury secretary says no they don't. house judiciary new report 40 5,000? >> that's right. liz: tax returns for americans were leaked by an irs contractor, charles littlejohn? >> that's right. 40 5,000 tax returns leaked, not just to the public, to
5:09 pm
pro-publica for political gain. it was to basically inflict political damage on enemies of the left, like donald trump and elon musk and others, and for that, this contractor really kind of just got a slap on the hand. he got one criminal charge, five years plus probation and community service and in fact the left's reaction to that behavior, liz is this was a hero for the public for what he did, and now they are losing their minds when elon musk and doge want to have a little audit of the irs. well let's not forget. donald trump is ahead of the executive branch. elon musk is working at the behest of the executive branch to do his bidding to bring about more accountability, more transparency, specifically to the article ii branch. liz: and you know we've got a new harvard harris poll, a majority of voters six out of 10 are more satisfied with president trump than they were with biden. trump has a 52% approval rating and majority support trump and deportations, getting rid of dei
5:10 pm
and government, 42% say the country is on the right track under trump. that's up 14 points since january. democrats are at their lowest approval rating since about seven years. >> my hope is that trump not only keeps the progress but accelerates it because democrats are in disarray and the american people love what's actually going on with doge and everything else that trump ran on that he's implementing, so i assume he's keeping steam rolling right through any of this resistance, and my hope is that he does bring about massive reform and restructuring especially the article ii branch. liz: got it. okay ned ryun thank you so much. now, please listen to this. >> thanks, liz. >> elon has cracked the code and now inside the agencies. he's created these algorithms that are constantly crawling through the data and he told me the data doesn't lie. elon is in the middle and in the belly of the beast. liz: that was house speaker mike johnson saying elon musk and doge are launching new
5:11 pm
algorithms inside federal agencies, scrolling through to stop waste, fraud and abuse of taxpayers. now, we've got states like florida that want the same doge a.i. to stop their waste in their states. harvard harris poll seven out of 10 americans support doge. look whose here, former home depot ceo and chair bob nardelli. bob your reaction to all government complaints about doge. don't you see that elon musk is basically saying to the government? you've got to behave like government private sector workers do. isn't this what the private sector, they have to do the same things that musk is demanding? >> you're exactly correct. i couldn't be happier. 53 years in business, to have a ceo as president of this country and doing what they are doing, getting rid of waste. it's not uncommon, elizabeth. i've run into this where i follow a ceo that has left behind, it's like a dead fish in a refrigerator unplugged.
5:12 pm
it's a budget you can't live with, and unfortunately, you have to be the heavy going into it to try to get things back under control, and that's what this president is doing with elon musk. he's driving the waste, the inefficiencies, the lack of productivity. i don't know why people are complaining. i mean, i have my people report sales daily. we have a weekly flash report. we've got kpi's for everybody in the business that they have to be measured on. not only qualitative but quantitative so i don't know why people are upset with this is the way business runs today, and the u.s. is a big business and needs to get control of it. liz: we're $38 trillion in debt. the interest costs keep going up. our taxes will go up. we know that 40% of the contracts cut have already been spent we get that. there's a trillion dollars in discretionary spending, that's about 14% of the overall u.s. budget but doge is finding that government workers are going overseas to places like malaysia and going to vegas, renting rooms at caesars hotels, and
5:13 pm
wasting taxpayer money buying tens of thousands of software licenses, not using them. more software licenses than many workers inside these federal agencies. what do you think? >> well this is what happens when there's no oversight and no control. you'll see what's called creep in businesses. whether it's wages, whether it's lack of expense control reports, whether it's good policies and not only written but adhere to and monitored and that's what we're seeing now, elizabeth. we're seeing kind of magnifying glass over everything and i'm like the state of florida. i'd love to get those algorithms that he's using to help dig out the waste in some of these large corporations that we deal with, so i'm totally satisfied and pleased and look people who do things may make a mistake. they don't make the biggest mistake of all, doing nothing and that's what we've had the last four years. not only not doing nothing but had miss appropriations of funds so this is a criminal thing in
5:14 pm
some cases, elizabeth. liz: you and i have talked about it, bob. reducing government spending, reducing government waste could lower the 10 year yield, could lower bond yields, and lower mortgage rates down the road and lower inflationary over-spending, again, and the money supplied is up 30% that rocketed higher under joe biden during the pandemic. that was war time spending and fed money printing without the war. final word. >> it's exactly, and you know what i'm most pleased about? there's no nimby here. look at secretary of defense. stepping forward saying i want to take an 8% cut the next couple of years so this is a team playing for one organization, to support of president trump. i'm tickled to death to see them all come together and try to get control of miss appropriations, and flagrant use of taxpayer's money. liz: thank you so much, very much bob nardelli. we need your insights always on the show good to see you now

elizabeth: welcome back. we're catching this trend that's happening in d.c. republican congressmen reportedly want to impeach three judges blocking the trump agenda in court. it's rhode island u.s. district judge paul engel meyer, john bates and judge john mcconnell. let's bring in congressman darrell issa. it's good to see you. so is you have a new bill to stop federal judges nationwide trying to derail president trump's or any president's agenda? can you talk to us about it? >> well, absolutely. look, the history of the court is that the supreme court makes decisions for all of the land. district court judges make a decision in their district in a case. but what's happened over the last few years is activist judges mostly outside of washington, d.c. have decided that they can do a nation wide

injunction. ultimately, most of them or many of them are overturned, but they can literally stop an entire nation or world from operating. that is wrong. if they a want to come to the d.c. circuit, that's fine. if they want the wait and get to the supreme court, that's fine. but the idea they would file in hawaii against the trump administration and stop him nationwide is unacceptable. elizabeth: is so what is the fix in your bill? >> the fix simply says that as is tradition, they can make an injunction in their area of jurisdiction, but it doesn't apply to the rest of the country. they wouldn't do those if they couldn't do nationwide injunctions. the fact is plaintiffs would come to the d.c. circuit which does have nationwide authority, and you would result i -- they would allly end up at the supreme court. they've chosen not to do that a because they can find a sympathetic judge rather than find the real justice, and that's the reason oral of these cases although they look good in the beginning, they get

overturned ultimately. elizabeth: are other lawmakers supporting your bill? >> yes, i would expect it to run through judiciary relatively quickly. if this were the biden administration, today might be more interested anytime, but probably most democrats won't support it, but it's the right things and to do and the right time to do it. elizabeth: it would also protect any future democrat president, right? >> absolutely. this doesn't know a party, it knows what's right and wrong. ere are almost 700 district court judges. each one of them should not be able to shut down the nation. that's ooh what's we're going to change. elizabeth: got it. congressman issa, good luck with your with legislation there. that was really interesting. i'm elizabeth macdonald. thank you so much for watching "the evening edit," and thank you for welcoming us into your homes. we hope you enjoy the show. it's time to send it over to "the bottom line." take it away, dagen and brian. dagen: thank, e-mac. elizab
