he says they should go first in deciding which workers have to go rather than waiting for orders from elon musk. trump is not raining elon in but streamlining doghe to make the to part of government efficiency more efficient, a necessary change, too often cabinet members have no knowledge of the changes musk was proposing for their own department, too often, high valued workers are being let go and needed to be rehired when the department realized they had to stay. that created chaos which could eventually have hurt the president. click on his approval rating remains strong but nip to the bad pr in the bud. >> i want cabinet members to keep good people. i don't want to see a big cut where a lot of good people are cut. i want cabinet members to keep the good people in the people who are doing a good job that are unreliable don't show up to work, those people can be cut.

so i had a meeting and said i want cabinet members to go first, keep all the people you want, everybody you need and it would be better for two years instead of two weeks because in two years they will know for people better but i want them to do the best job they can. stuart: possible legal challenges to future job cuts, some have objected to musk issuing firing notices but if the cabinet officer does it there is no legal issue about who can hire and who can fire. bottom line is the dogthe program will move more vigorously without territorial disputes and political embarrassment. as the president said, we say a scalpel rather than a hatchet. second hour of varney just getting started. stuart: todd pyro. this is a significant change

stuart: one hundred 50 one thousand jobs added in february, the on employment rate went up a fraction to 4.1%. we got the jobs report. it seems to me that inflation is still with us. the economy is slowing a little. and we've gotta trade war. that doesn't seem to be a good environment for buying stocks. lauren: you need to focus on the long-term perspective as an investor and trump has said what he was going to do. the markets are playing a tug-of-war, and by the way, the reason donald trump won reelection is the main reason was open border policies and inflation. the democrats are saying we have inflationary numbers, we had it because it was reckless spending the last four years, trump trying to reverse that.

stuart: donald trump says next week he will get a report on the assassination attempt against him. david spunt joining us, do we know what will be in the new reports? >> reporter: it is not clear. we know the report, we don't know if it is one reporter two separate reports, there are two assassination plots, the one dealing with butler, pennsylvania the shooter is dead so there's no prejudicial evidence to come out but the florida attempted assassination suspect is appearing in court today so there may be hesitation to put out information that could hurt his chances in court. he is set to go to trial later this year but here's trump on wanting more information in the oval office. >> they are giving me a report next week sometime and i do believe, i want to release the report, maybe there's a reason

difficult time. going into the address tuesday night, hakeem jeffries tried to make sure this would not happen. they would not have the story be about what we are talking about. that didn't work out so well. with their paddles, shaking his cane and thrown out of the chamber so they don't have to worry about democrats trying, for a more moderate stance. to try to subdue that part of the party so they can win again and be in charge because singing is great but doesn't get you anywhere in terms of moving legislation are fighting back against what they think is a bad trump agenda. stuart: it could come back to bite him because randy ogles wants the democrats who protested to be removed from their committee assignments. that would be taking some strong action. will they do that?

lauren: new york city sued the president and federal agencies for clawing back that $80 million it was awarded to help house the migrants, the judge, jennifer riordan, said it would suffer irreparable harm if the money was not returned. dhs secretary kristi noem said much of it was used for luxury hotel that also served as base for tren de aragua gang operations. fema did approve an award the money but it was during the final months of the biden presidency, it didn't get dispersed until trump took office and that is why he tried to take it back and looks like it worked. stuart: it has been taken back, new york doesn't get the $80 million. >> i'm sure they will appeal but as of now, no. stuart: watch this. msnbc analysts argue that doghe is racist. >> there are people who are charged with trying to find savings. is an attack on government but also an attack on this.

stuart: they have to spend the money to the states, not just red states, the way you see education. >> blue state have to be accountable for how they are allocating those funds. we are seeing migration for school choice because places like florida, our family can get $9,000 per student for a private school. on the border in georgia why wouldn't they move a few miles south and get that money and allow kids -- we will see more of that as choice expands. stuart: if i live in florida, i have young children in public school, you can give your state, florida, $9000 per student per year to put them in private school. 13 states adopt universal school choice, texas is about to pass the largest school

choice program for $1 billion with donald trump's support and expanding school choice. now it is time to dismantle the department piece by piece. stuart: is it popular in florida? $9000? >> we had 900,000 participate this year, they are ready applied for the fall and only in march. i think it is incredibly popular. only reason it hasn't blown up more his parents don't know about it. not all parents know it is available. and we need more private schools to open and expanded, they have long waiting lists. we are seeing that equilibrium take place and free market forces come in as parents have that money to spend and we see more schools open up. early one a private school gets $9000, does the public school lose the $9,000? >> it is the same $9,000 for each student, the money that would have otherwise gone to the public school that is now following the student where their parent chooses.

stuart: still on education, the small business administration for student loans, it is a total mess. one in five student loan borrowers are 90 days past you, one in five. how would the small business administration fix that? >> i was intrigued by this idea. they see a loan portfolio that actually the structure could be applied to student loans to improve it. we want to see more private lenders come into this space and sba loans are backed by the government, allows more flexibility for private lenders to give better and more clickable terms what they are tied to some purpose, some performance. i like the idea, something that should be explored but we need the private sector involved in student loans, the government cannot be the only lender of student loans contributed to the inflation in college going

in the military with you. and when you get out of the military, you kind of lose that until you find a new family. we can talk about our struggles and the things that we did overseas and not everybody can do that. adam! how's it going, brother? we live pretty close to each other. so he's always coming over. when i go to jack's house, we watch a lot of football, hang out. we go outside the friendship has kind of grown into a family i was overseas on a deployment. i got separated from my marines and i got hit in the neck, and it broke my neck and paralyzed me. 14 years ago, i was on a training mission. did a military freefall, and i had some faulty equipment. i hit the ground. going, 30 to 40 knots and was instantly paralyzed. i met jack fanning when he invited us to park city, utah, through his foundation.

i was able to actually get on the mountain and ski with my family, i can't put into words what that meant. i got paid in the military to do crazy fun stuff. and after my accident, i'm still that same guy. and when i was able to jump out of a perfectly good, helicopter, at 10,000 feet, i did it. i was talking to some vets last week amazing how we have these houses where they can come over because they■re in chairs too. carpet and wheelchairs don't mix very well. tunnel to towers, they got rid of all that. they redid my whole bathroom. that's probably the favorite part of my house. i thought they were just going to do the upgrades. but the surprise to me was they paid off the entire mortgage. when they told me they're going to pay off my mortgage, i cried. please contribute $11 a month by visiting t2t.org now did they just hop from a baseball game
