9:06 am
in additional revenue and agreed on a 800 dollar figure. he said it was trying to negotiate with a bowl of jello. officials concede that asked for more an they had settlod a two trillion . since the eventual deficit plan needs to be bipartisan why should the white house veto when they will not vote to raise the debt ceiling. boehner may propose a short term extedges to take it into next spring. it would be unfortunate if the president veted it based because in the words of one it was not ideal for his reelection campaign. >> thank you for the update . with the stakes so high. treasury secretary tim githener is sitting down with chris wallace on fox news sunday. check your local listings for the time and channel. >> if you were a member of

vote. no, wait until we get to the debt limit we will face difficult time. and the way the president admonished peeker boehner and the gop makes it more difficult to get it done and he continue to use scare tactic to boost his own political fortunes . what do you make of that? >> again, the best situation is not have anybody walk away and attack each other. in tense negotiations, the parties have to have trust among each other and if they don't have that trust. it is hard to really sit down and work out a compromise. to all parties, for us, the rank and file members, we are democrats and republicans, we are waiting for our leaders to come up with something and keep us inform something that can pass in a bipartisan way. boehner doesn't have 218 votes. only way he can do it is like the cr. got to have the republicans and democrats and the

part. >> anduma, every month there is 80 million payments that the u.s. treasury pays. about 29 or 30 billion of that will go out to pay interest, and then after that. somebody has to prioritize. social security, medicare and veterans and law enforcement and who are they going to pay? the taxes like you said. yeah, you are right. income comes in and the expenditures are exceeding the income by 40 percent . so 40 percent of that has to be cut. who are we going to pay? that is the priority. let's look at the last time we had a technical default. 1979, the printing presses went down . the base point went up j.p. morgan said if there is a default base borrowing costs are going up. i prefer not to have a short term extension but if we have to do it to prevent a default

9:15 am
watching on whether or not to downgrade or not. >> i think you hit on a brilliant and key point of it being too late. i think it is discussed enough and in an area outside of my expertis. that is psychology. the tone of the president's remarks last night veered in the personal attacks, that republicans and democrats say now, may getting a deal unlikely. john boehner's response to those attacks was not gentlemanly itself. talking to the two leaders. president and speaker of the house. it has gotten antsy and angry with each other. they are school seasoned politician and probably get past it. but it makes a immediate deal much less likely especially when you have the weirdness of john boehner saying i am giving up talking to you
9:16 am
mr. president because that is going no where fast and president of the united states saying get your butt in here and work it out . the meeting is over. but the tension remains. we'll see if they can cobble together something here and on the key point as to whether they can and do and whether their respective troops will go along. we are a long way of finishing this . i think that is the tough that worries the markets. because they have long assumed that these guys would get past the unpleasantness and divisions and arguments and talkingly points and put something together. everyone assumed that the better part of the dollar insanity will come up with something and soon. if that looks like in doubt, and if that is what the markets will assume happen and they done see that. markets will panic and sell off. it is simple as that. you have people like ron paul who said.

we are in the pickle precisely because we kick the can down the road and raise the debt limit . we are still a knee deep in debt and maybe it would be good for us to take the bullet and have our triple a rating taken away and face reality. but that is a lot easier said than done . the reality of m when something like that hits is not greeted favorably. >> always great to see you and thank you for your insights today. we appreciate it you can watch neal every day at 6:00 eastern on the fox business network. if you don't get it, demand it . so let me ask you. are you fed up with the way the lawmakers are handling your tax dollars? send me your twits. to hurricane uma and i will be happy to read them later in the show. moving along now. a suspect was arrested in
