>> juliet: good morning. august 27th. i'm juliet huddy. hurricane irene slamming 90 miles per hour. next up america's largest cities including right here in new york city. >> chris christie not taking any excuses. >> get the hell off the beach. you're done. have you maximized your tan. >> juliet: well then.
2:00 am
2:01 am
2:02 am
reichmuth is over there working diligently is expected to come down any time now. 12 states under a state of emergency right now. homeland security secretary janet napolitano reminding us this is not something to be taken lightly. >> we don't want it to be a lethal storm. but that means proper preparation. it is a very large robust storm. it's going to cover a lot of territory, many states. it's going to have major flooding associated with the rainfall, preparing not just for the storm but for the after-effects is so very important. >> brian: okay. i didn't expect her to end. >> dave: brian in for vacation of clayton morris this morning. we will be covering this storm for the next four hours. >> one of the biggest stories juliet will cover extensively 10:00 a.m. to 11:00. >> juliet: what? >> brian: the president comes off vacation.
2:03 am
governor christie comes off of vacation. clayton stays on vacation. [ laughter ] let's go live to elizabeth prawn. she is not on vacation. >> no. not on vacation this morning. as you can see it's really hitting hard here in virginia beach. i will say the conditions have deteriorated fairly quickly. even a couple hours ago we did see some heavy rains but our winds and rains but now it's really coming down. one the biggest concerns for this area are tornado reports. we have a lot of warnings going on. right at that northern edge of the storm. obviously as you mentioned, we still have quite a long time to go before actually hurricane irene actually makes landfall. what people are saying is that if you are here, if you are in virginia beach and you decided to stay home, then you are probably not going anywhere. the department of transportation said any roads, any bridges that they can't check out for safety reasons are considered closed. we spoke with the hotel manager. he had everyone leave last night. we're the only ones in the
2:04 am
hotel. although that's a hit for businesses, that's not really uncommon here on the beach. a lot of the hotel owners said get out now. we're not even going to allow you to stay. now, also we talked about mandatory evacuations. if you did decide to stay and you are in one of those mandatory evacuation areas, it's going to be very hard for rescue crews to get to you over the course of the weekend. these conditions we are seeing right now are only going to deteriorate over the next to 24 hours. back to you in new york. >> brian: keep that concentration of driving rain. sadly it's only going to get worse. elizabeth prann. >> dave: we are talking about 3 or 400 miles extending in all directions. >> making a really good point as the storm hit land? everybody talks about that in hurricanes like when is the storm going to hit land you? just saw the storms hitting land. the center of the storm is right
2:05 am
there and tv people like to get obsessed exactly when the very center of that storm makes landfall. that's where the pressure is lowest anything around that when the biggest of the storm surge hits. we have been seeing the storm affecting land since yesterday afternoon. you noticed on the satellite imagery right here dry air getting, in losing some of its structure right now. that means that weakening trend that it's been doing will continue. still a 90 mile-per-hour storm. you can see all of the rain that's now all the way up in across parts of the delmarva peninsula. tornado watch in effect here. because when you get the storms coming on shore, when that rotation already with the storm hits the land, that friction can cause small tornadoes to spin down and cause some additional damage right now we have very intense rain falling. it's been falling for a long time. 7 to 8 inches of rainfall. a lot of flooding concerns clearly across interior sections. these are the latest winds gusting cape hatteras. 74 miles per hour. wilmington 62 miles per hour. right there is the center of the storm that continues to pull off
2:06 am
towards the north. the center of the storm still offshore. this is that center that brian just mentioning to me. that will cross over within the next couple hours. spend a little time over that ocracoke area and goal my sound. two in the more off the coast of delaware in toward the delmarva peninsula and parts of jersey. by tomorrow morning around this time we will be under the gun in the new york city area. guys? >> there is good news, rick. that this thing is slowing down and it will continue to slow down as it stays over land. >> in its intensity, it is. it is becoming a weaker storm. cat 1 hurricane. i think there is a very real chance by the time it gets up to here it is around a tropical storm, maybe 70 mile-per-hour storm it doesn't really matter you have all the same storm surge it's been pushing water for a long time. a lot of water will be pushed in there. along the island storm surges and cause damage in there.
2:07 am
>> juliet: up here in new york city you worry about the flooding because if it's a slow moving storm it dumps a lot of rain over a long period of time. hopefully it's going to be a serious, serious thunderstorm type of thing. >> it will be more than that. [ laughter ] >> juliet: can i hope. one can dream, rick. >> brian: all right. rick. check in with you again. maybe at one point he will put on his jacket. >> juliet: irene is already causing a washout for travelers. 6100 u.s. flights are cancelled nationwide. jetblue was the first one to do that new york's five major airports will be shut down this afternoon. new york city is suspending its mass transit service at noon. that's a huge deal, people. if you live outside of new york city, it's a huge deal. amtrak has cancelled trains as well. >> it's a huge deal. i can't get home. >> i'm not going home. i will be staying here. more than 2 million people on the east coast told to evacuate before the storm reaches the area. new jersey governor chris
2:08 am
christie. as you might imagine, not mincing any words in his evacuation order. >> you know, i saw some of these news feeds i have been watching upstairs of people sitting on the beach in as bury park. get the hell off the beach in as bury park and get out. you are done. it's 4:30. have you maximized your tan. get off the beach. >> he has got a good tan. >> he does have a good tan. he is coming off vacation. remember with the snow storm i'm going to disney. i promised my kids. i'm putting on my suit, taking off my tie and make sure new jersey doesn't get slammed. >> dave: he learned from cory booker the newark mayor stay here, tweet, do whatever you have to do to manage this thing. 370,000 people evacuate from the new york area. do you think they have left? >> juliet: times square is pretty empty. >> dave: sure, no one sought and about. >> juliet: shots from last night. people weren't going to the
2:09 am
shows. >> dave: broadway is dark tonight and all day sunday. >> juliet: not going to be as busy. >> brian: if you are hoping to see dancing this weekend do it yourself. juliet, what else is happening in the world? >> juliet: i'm glad you asked, brian. libyan's rebels making more progress. they have taken control of the main border, crossing tunisia from muammar qaddafi's forces. this comes as the streets of tripoli were a bit calmer today. the rebels once again celebrating victory by firing guns in martyr's square. a radical muslim sect now being blamed for a car bombing near the main u.n. building in nigeria's capital. at least 18 people were killed in one of the deadliest assaults in the country in the decade. a group which has reported links to al qaeda wants to implement a strict version of sharia law in the nation. former international monetary fund head dominic strauss-khan dsk as we know him has left the city. he has evacuated so to speak. he has arrived back at home in washington just days after prosecutors dropped sex assault
2:10 am
charges. he will likely meet with new imf head christine laguard. strauss-khan is relieved to have his passport back. he is expected to go go [inaudible] just two hours the last 30 patients will begin to be transferred to will walter reed medical center to the bethesda national emergency medical center following this trr. army officials will lower the flag signaling the final closure of the 102-year-old facility which will be shutting down as a cost-saving measure. before the threat of hurricane irene the move had been planned next week. they changed all of that because of this natural disaster. >> brian: enough about the storm for just a second or for a little while and talk about the g.o.p. it looks as though in florida as we know it's a battleground state. mitt romney has a reason to smile. >> rick: yeah. a lot of the news this past week was that rick perry had taken over the lead from him as far as the g.o.p. nomination. but, in the state of florida, it appears mitt romney is still the frontrunner and even the leader
2:11 am
over president obama in a hypothetical. we are 14 months out. there is your matchup. mitt romney leading the president by 8 and so too does rick perry although just by one percentage point within the margin of error. others remain close as well. including michele bachmann. >> primary voters in florida. their picks as well. perry 21% to romney's 28%. bachmann comes in at 13%. her man cane 7%. >> if mitt romney had taken florida last time around. john mccain got the governor's endorsement and then took florida. mitt romney took great numbers in florida. rudy was on top and that fell apart. he knew he had the focus there so far it is paying off. got to be good news considering he started the week knowing in the a.p. poll he was trailing by 12 to rick perry. >> that's why mitt romney has had this calm exterior talking a
2:12 am
lot about his opponents. >> juliet: not talking a lot, period. >> he has talked. he has been out there talking with people. maybe not a whole lot of media appearances. again, focusing all his attention on the president. not on his opponents. it will be interesting. as you said, brian, florida is going to be huge a lot of focus on iowa lately. florida clearly going to be more important in terms of getting someone in the game at that point. >> juliet: not that i'm -- i'm a little biased here but i think new jersey is going to be one to watch. chris christie, the no nonsense tough talking governor. seems to be a lot of sliding when it comes to obama's approval rating. >> brian: every time you think that he is not running for president, there is a story today out that chris christie is going to go assert himself as the leader in the state which he always is you have 47% approval rating might still throw his hat in the ring. >> dave: i still think no. live on the coast plus preparing for the aftermath as well.
2:13 am
most home insurance not going to cover. very important aspects of this one. we will tell you what you need to know. >> brian: then -- >> juliet: sick of watching washington print money. a new warning from congress' own budget office and what it could mean for president obama. >> brian: i have never seen that angle. nothing could make this firefighter flinch. explode and he runs straight for the flames. hi, anne.
2:14 am
2:15 am
and this will really help with the cost of her final expenses. they have been so helpful and supportive during this time. maybe i should give them a call. i really could use some more life insurance. is it affordable? it costs less t that's pretty affordable, huh? less than 35 cents a day? that's less than the cost of a postage stamp. so, you said it was guaranteed acceptance? yes. it's permanent coverage with guaranteed acceptance for people ages 50 to 85. there's no medical exam or health questions. you can't be turned down because of your health. it fit right into mom's budget and gave her added peace of mind. you should give them a call or look them up online at cpdirect.com. i definitely could use more coverage. i think i will give them a call. man: are you between the ages of 50 and 85? or know someone who is? do you think that quality insurance at an affordable rate is out of your reach? for less than 35 cents a day, you can get guaranteed acceptance life insurance through the colonial penn program.
2:16 am
you cannot be turned down because of your health. there are no health questions or medical exam. your rate will never go up, and your benefit will never go down due to age-- guaranteed! these days, the average cost of a funeral is over $7300, and social security pays a death benefit of just $255. don't leave a burden for your loved ones. since 1994, over 6 million people have called about this quality insurance. there's no risk or obligation. call about the colonial penn program now. you'll be glad you did. >> welcome back 16 minutes past the hour. we are covering hurricane irene but we wanted to cover some other topics as well. you may remember candidate obama was very quick to attack then president bush for adding trillions of dollars to the national deficit.
2:17 am
>> the problem is is that the way bush has done it over the last eight years it's s. to take out a credit card from the bank of china in the name of our children, driving up our national debt from a trillion dollars for the first 42 presidents, number 43 added $4 trillion by his lonesome. that's irresponsible. it's unpatriotic. >> unpatriotic. that was over the course of eight years. the 4 trillion for push. since the start of his term, which is obviously not eight years, president obama has added $4 trillion to the debt that's less than three years. according to the new cbo report. all of this spend something not stimulating the economy. norm coleman joins us now bright and early in the midwest, sir. well in office by the way. >> bright and early. >> juliet: we love that thank you. he helped identify more than $80 billion in government waste. he has his eyes on the cbo
2:18 am
report. also the ceo of the american action network. thanks for joining us. i want to get your reaction to that sound bite from president obama. then campaigning. this is back in 2008 when he made that unpatriotic comment. >> well, juliet, as you said it, he has managed to do what obama done two and a half years what it took george bush eight years to do. we're faced with war on debt now. rising tied tide of red ink. for this president has taken that credit card and he has used it again and again and again. as a result, this country is in deep economic crisis. the cbo recognizes that. an additional $10 trillion more is projected in debt over the next 10 years. et obama budget. that's his budget. the cbo projects it to be 1.2 trillion. with a t. more than obama had projected. so we have got big problems here the problem dr. obama a patient who is suffering bleeding to death. hemorrhaging.
2:19 am
also suffering from terminal cancer in forms of entitlement spending. long term has to be fixed. his proposal is essentially take leaches on the bleeding, suck it up in the form of higher taxes and more spending obviously it's not working in terms of the economy and also not working politically right now. >> what's the biggest threat here? >> short-term and long term. byron york did a piece "the weekly standard." "the washington examiner." talked about saying the real issue. can't worry about the long-term problem. we have got to focus on spending. is he right but you really have to do both. you have got to focus on right now the most immediate problem is debt spending. there is no question. washington doesn't have a revenue problem. it has a spending problem. that's the issue. >> i have to also say it's probably a good political judgment in there because, when you focus on long-term entitlement, when you make that your pill issue, you -- your principle issue, a long term problem with medicare and medicaid and social security.
2:20 am
addressing it politically is challenging. deal with the spending. start cutting into the debt but understand you better have that courage. that next president and pretty soon has to have courage to deal with entitlement reform. >> juliet: you say the cbo should serve as a wakeup call. thank you very much for joining us this morning. >> thank you very much. >> juliet: go back to bed. try to take a nap or something. >> i think that florida poll by the way is a wakeup call. >> juliet: you heard it from norm coleman. thank you, senator. >> thank you. >> juliet: we are watching hurricane irene right now. another live update coming up in the coast of north carolina. what about the aftermath? your home insurance, even if you have hurricane coverage might not cover from the damage this is going to be doing. also, we told you about the pga star who blasted president obama's golf game. now that constructive criticism has landed him in a each trouble. we'll tell you about it coming back.

2:24 am
>> juliet: welcome back. 23 minutes past the hour. quick headlines for you. the judge says the prison official can continue to forcibly medicate tucson shooting suspect jared laughner. the ruling made during a hearing in san diego. he is accused of shooting and wounding congresswoman gabriel giffords also killing six others. ise husband of a missing utah wife's private journals. susan cox powell disappeared in 2009. her husband josh says the journals show she may have run off with another man or killed herself. susan's family says the journals are at least 10 years old. have nothing to do with the case. brian, -- >> brian: let's talk hurricane. irene set to make landfall in the carolinas as a category 1
2:25 am
hurricane within the show. on the east coast of, of course, at least 2 million people have been ordered to evacuate as far north as massachusetts. >> dave: here is what you need to know. even if you have home insurance and hurricane insurance, you may not be covered for the damage this storm could cause. bob with usbolt is the ceo of the independent insurance agents and brokers of america. he joins us from d.c. joining to you, sir. >> good morning. i found this a bit stunning reading up if you have insurance that covers hurricanes that may not cover wind and rain damage from hurricanes. isn't that the damage that hurricanes does and what do you need to have then? >> well, you have to make a distinction. there is no homeowner's policy in the united states that covers flood damage to your home. you have to buy a separate policy. it's a program run by the federal government sold through independent insurance agents.
2:26 am
but when it comes to wind damage, it depends on where you live. most homeowner's policies do cover wind coverage. if you are a coastal area along florida and some other coastal areas in the eastern united states or the gulf coast. it excludes wind and you have to bay separate policy for that it's very important. you are talking to your independent insurance agent to find out what's covered and what isn't covered. >> brian: also what your deductible is. if you have $8,000 deductible or $12,000 deductible, that's not going to help much. >> that would be very high for standard homeowner's policy. you are right, some wind policies, particularly in florida, do have some very high deductibles. you get to choose your deductible. and there is no doubt that consumers have to think very carefully and consult their insurance agent as to what they can tolerate when the big event comes. >> so it's clearly too late to call all state and insure that wind and flood damage. so at this point too late. what you can do to protect yourself? >> well, you are right. it's too late to buy flood
2:27 am
insurance now because there is a 30 day window period. once a hurricane is named and identified, you can't get flood insurance for 30 days. but there are a number of things that consumers should be doing right now on the east coast. and, of course, one is making sure that your windows are shuttered up buy hurricane shutters. it might be too late for that. buy plywood if you are a coastal area. remove dead branches from trees. make sure trees that aren't close to your house aren't projectiles into your house. tree damage is one of the major things in a hurricane when it comes to homeowners. make sure you take a video of your house or still pictures. the claims process will go a lot quicker with your adjustor if you can prove what you added or improved in the house. >> right. have a tarp and an emergency kit and a lot of other common sense things that consumers should be doing. >> brian: use the word talk for the original reason it was needed. and then finally you just said to take video tape before the storm hits.
2:28 am
might be too late in north carolina. up the east coast videotape what your house looks like inside and out vow a characterization right? >> absolutely. >> brian: thanks. insurance agent. >> dave: thanks, bob. is rick perry stealing the tea party's support? why the grass roots has a new liking to the texas governor and what exactly could this mean? >> brian: then, nothing will make this firefighter flinch. not even an explosion. [explosion] >> the guy doesn't move. the hero who stands up to the flames. no matter how intense. @p@çx
2:32 am
>> brian: we are tracking hurricane irene that's why we are here for you advisory came from the national hurricane center. eye of the storm, dave, it is now getting closer to cape lookout. >> dave: it is 35 miles south of lookout, north carolina. sustained winds. >> juliet: elizabeth prann is live in virginia beach. what's going on there. >> juliet, these conditions continue to get worse and worse by the minute. one thing that local
2:33 am
meteorologist concerned about are the reports of local tornadoes which is why they are telling people. [breaking audio] >> juliet: not surprisingly, we have technical problems there. >> brian: elizabeth was getting rained on. she was in a rainstorm and now she is in a wind storm. juliet earlier obviously looking like it was coming down rain wise but didn't look that windy. >> dave: touching on the story tornadoes spun off as part of this hurricane. chief meteorologist will tell you in just a moment. i think we now have elizabeth back on the line. elizabeth, there you are. >> hey, guys can you hear me? >> juliet: yes, we can go ahead. >> the wind isn't too overpowering. i heard you talking about the wind and the rain. [lost audio] >> juliet: or not. >> brian: god so close. >> dave: third time is the charm. let's go back. we will now get to our chief
2:34 am
meteorologist as we discussed. rick, if you can pick up where she left off. not a big deal you say? >> if they hit your spot they are a big deal. they are small is the problem. but small tornado with 100 mile-per-hour winds or something hits your place it can certainly cause a be pro. not the kind of middle of the country tornadoes, the large tornadoes that cause devastation so-to-a lot of people. that's not it. you can get small tornadoes with these and we will see that. we have been seeing it all night long. that will cause some of the problems. center of the storm getting very very close to the coastal areas. right there around morehead city predicting this. models in good agreement and good agreement for a long time. gives you a a much higher confidence in your forecast. here you go right now we are at 90 miles per hour. but you see right here just to the south of morehead city talking at about 1:00 p.m. today crossing over and then emerging
2:35 am
back out over the water. sunday morning right here just off the jersey coast towards the delaware. see a lot of water being pushed in across the coastal areas and a lot of river across the hudson river. that's some of the concern. some the water overlapping into battery park and could that get into the subways. that's why they are closing that if the storm does track to the west at all and a couple of our models dial doo that that's worse news. more water pushing up in the hudson and storm surge. tracks off to the east more storm surge. such a big storm we will see storm surge down along long island and long island sound and even in up towards the bay. a lot of people dealing with a rise of water that's going to be somewhere around 6 to 8 feet and throw in the waves on top of that there is also the very heavy rain. where you see these colors, that blue very heavy rainfall rates. 6:00 to 7:00. probably about the next hour we will be seeing a landfall
2:36 am
somewhere here across much of this land in north carolina. a few hours to go across there you think land breaks apart. it's mostly water still. it will still have time to not weak as much. by tomorrow morning, still the center of this very close to new york city. somewhere -- we could be seeing a land falling hurricane maybe places like brooklyn or jfk. something like that. probably a much weaker storm though. maybe a minimal category 1 hurricane. very, very strong tropical storm. by 5:00 tomorrow night guys see this clearing in toward new york city. by midnight tomorrow night it's done. by monday everybody wakes up to pure sunshine. that's going to be a good part. in the meantime look at all this rainfall. we had 12 inches of rain a week and a half ago, now maybe another 12 inches of rain. 24 inches of rain falling in some spots in eard poof two weeks. that means massive flooding and this time throw the wind on top of it.
2:37 am
pour outages those will probably last for quite a while. >> the whole thing on top of that is high tide. correct? high tide accelerates everything. >> it's much worse than if it's low tide. high tide coming different times. there will be high tide overnight hours along the jersey shore while we are also going to be talking about the storm surge moving in there. that definitely makes matters worse. >> dave: once it gets here to new york, new jersey, how long are you going to see these conditions whether it be tropical storm type winds and rains, how long will they stick around. >> probably 6 to 10 hours. the rain is going to start this afternoon in new york. even though you are seeing the center of the storm way down across north carolina. the rain will be getting here this afternoon and rain all the way through a good chunk of the day tomorrow. just like what you are seeing right now where elizabeth prann is. once it starts raining it gets worse and worse and it will be raining for a long time.
2:38 am
>> juliet: by monday it's sunny and beautiful. we have covered hurricanes before as journalists chasing those things. it's funny because it's all hell breaks loose, it's over and brand new day absolutely beautiful out. the flights will start to be rescheduled. >> flights will be rescheduled. big backlog. airports closing down today. so, it's going to be the big backlog. monday will be a spectacular day and people will get out there and start to clean up there will be a lot of clean up to be done especially across coastal areas. people who live in higher elevation around the city is going to get a lot of rain like a nor'easter and you will think that wasn't that bad. you will see pictures along the coast of very very rough surf cause beach erosion. big problems. some of the barrier islands might have some new cut through into those islands which could change matters for a lot of people. >> brian: all right. we have warn you out. take a rest. >> thanks, man.
2:39 am
>> brian: coming up straight ahead. actually, why don't we do some headlines? i want to broaden my progressive. >> juliet: brilliant idea. student dies two days. ann hef written had just gotten back at the party at the fraternity house when she fell unconscious in her dorm room. roommate told police she had been drinking but initial autopsy reports have been inconclusive on that one. we will keep you updated. manhunt underway for former nba player now wanted for the murder in the death of 23-year-old julian jones in atlanta. police say critten den opened fire for revenge. the bullet killed jones instead. is he believed to be hiding out in a los angeles area. you may criminal that are crittenton was involved in locker room incident when both were with the washington whizs a
2:40 am
few years back. >> not scared straight july juliet told you about golfer's zing against president obama yesterday. here is what he wrote on twitter. social media has taken over, people. president of the united states has played more golf than me this month. i have created more jobs than him this month. okay. whatever. so now we are learning that espn, who employees a zinger as a broadcaster isn't too happy with the golf star. the network warned him that his tweet goes against social media policy. espn did not say if azinger will be punished. a los angeles fighter showing bravery. he wakes up to a burning car. this thing explodes as you just saw. he barely flinks and goes back to dousing the flame. firefighters were able to put out the flames by the way. those are the headlines. >> dave: that is a job. quick note on the storm. if you have a sporting event along the east coast. check it out because a lot of them have been cancelled including the jet/giants game.
2:41 am
>> brian: monday, right? >> dave: moved to monday. several baseball games cancelled, moved to monday. check it out before you head to the ballpark. >> brian: after the yankees played at home they wanted to cancel that game they lost. >> dave: too late. >> brian: rick perry, more good news coming from the tea party. they polled the tea party supporters and say who is your guy? who is your woman? here is the stats. >> juliet: kind of crazy. perry 35%. romney 14%. bachmann 14%. ron paul 12%. >> dave: sort of crazy. michele bachmann had a firm grippen othe tea party vote. boom, one weekend this thing rick perry surges to the top and 21% ahead of michele bachmann. mitt romney i think surprising tied with michele bachmann in terms of their support. ron paul hanging around right there. >> brian: yes. ron paul again. i will tell you republicans they also did a poll for those republicans who say they don't
2:42 am
support the tea party. they say who is your candidate? romney a slight advantage 23% 20% to bachmann's 6%. goes to show you without the tea party have you got one look. with the tea party another. it's how big the tea party is. >> dave: should be fascinating 14 months. >> juliet: they are passionate party so they will be showing up at the polls. >> brian: i believe so. 18 minutes before the top of the hour. >> juliet: your girl janine garofalo. >> brian: yeah, she is my girl. >> juliet: literally said the republicans are paying herman cain to run because they need to diversify the ticket. he was on our show last week. you talked ohim. i had great comments. she is an actress. not a politician. we review her latest comments next. she is allowed to have her say. >> brian: dave examines. >> dave: right. this grocery store stocked a lot more than just food. that is a tunnel to mexico. on aisle 9.
2:46 am
>> dave: janine garofalo's comments about herman cain being paid to run has the presidential hopeful firing back. here is his reaction. >> i think you are giving her too much credit to call her a marginally talented actress. if someone is paying me to run for president, on the republican ticket, i would like the phone number of that person, brian, so i can call him because they are behind in their payments. [ laughter ] >> dave: how credible is janine garofalo. dominic patent. good morning to you, sir. >> good morning. how are you doing? >> dave: let's take the comments first about herman cain being paid to run by the g.o.p. what do you make of those comments, first, before we get into her acting itself? >> i mean, look, i think everyone has been very polite about this. she is ignorant and a bigot with the remarks she made are simply outrage just. could you imagine in 2008 if
2:47 am
someone had said that barack obama was just a stocking horse to deflect racism in the democratic party for the inevitable coronation of hillary clinton? this is outrageous. the republican party has lock been a big tent. the party of lincoln had had senator edward brook representing massachusetts in the 1970s, which had its former chair michael steele and, of course, general colin powell, one of the most respect and admired americans today, i somehow don't think the republican party has an issue. i think janine garofalo and loony left have an issue. >> dave: that's an important point. take her acting. herman cain says she has been given too much credit by being called a march jingle bellly talented actress. let's now critique her acting. go back to the movies and tv shows. what do you think of that? >> well, movies? name one. i mean, her marquis career has a dim light at best. to be honest, janine garofalo is the kiss of tv death. her recent cbs series got
