administration. the only thing is that actually unanimously they voted not to move forward with that two wreaks before president obama came into office but never miss a moment of an opportunity to pass the buck. i found that to be the most outrageous thing that came to be yesterday. >> yeah, henry waxman himself put this into obama's stimulus. that's why they got half a billion dollars. so top of that, not only are they saying that we're not taking responsibility. what can i do about it? this at one point when it was released was the centerpiece of the green jobs initiative that was -- the stimulus bill that was going to be priming the pump to turn our economy around. now that it seems his company wasn't -- was -- this company was not worthy of our dollars and the office of management and budget realized that and they have these e-mails saying listen, this is not ready for primetime. actually, i think that's the exact quote. says not ready for primetime, they went ahead and passed it anyway and then when the office of management and budget was trampled, now all of a sudden,

people say i had no idea it was bad. did you see the story about mark levine and the -- >> i was going to say, one of the workers allegedly called into this radio show and he said that we threw away at least $100,000 a day in manufactured solar panels that had defects. can you imagine that sort of philosophy allegedly at a company, where we have a little mistake here, we have half a billion bucks. you go into bankruptcy when you operate that way. that's exactly what happened. >> something else we learned about this solyndra and it was the first company that got a department of energy grant from the federal government under the stimulus. apparently, the company officials leveled with the u.s. government and said you know what? we're about to go bankrupt. we know we got half a billion dollars. we needed more. extraordinarily, the federal government figured out, ok, it's cheaper to liquidate. let's not give them anymore money. they wound up with an additional

$75 billion. why would they give this company another $75 billion? could it possibly have to do with george kaiser who was one of barack obama's largest bundlers during the last campaign. and his venture capitalists group, he is the largest investor in it. he also visited the white house 16 times in the last two years. is that connected? that's what the f.b.i. is looking into. that's what this house committee is looking into. that's what treasury is looking into. this is all hands on deck. >> but i think if you're just an average american like the three of us are sitting at home today wondering how does this affect me? the bottom line is this is your money. this was taxpayer money and you've got to wonder where the other parts of the stimulus money went and most importantly as the president is asking for more stimulus money now in a jobs bill. will there be better protection of the way in which your money is spent? remember, recovery.gov, was that

the web site for joe biden last summer to make sure all your stimulus money was accounted for and you could go and look for it, i think a lot of people are very hesitant including democrats about more stimulus money. >> did you say joe biden? the vice president also had a press conference yesterday where he was really right on the money. i don't know what -- if the white house lost his number, if they don't -- if he doesn't have voice mail set up, but while the administration was trying to come up with an excuse for the money that was wasted in this solar panel project, there is vice president biden talking about how they have saved money and gotten rid of fraud and abuse in washington. here's the -- here's the vice president. >> as long as there's waste and fraud in government and serious waste and fraud, people lose confidence in the ability of their government to do the job. >> mr. good timing talking about that on the day that we're talking about what some are referring to now as obama's enron.

>> and he's part of -- he was put in charge of this committee to actually cut down on waste and fraud. it's ironic it comes on the same day as this discussion. let's talk about boeing for a minute. we've been telling you about this story for the last couple of months now. they were based in washington state but then wanted to open up this plant in south carolina where they wouldn't necessarily have to unionize their workers there and it created a huge fuss with the national relations board, the nrlb and they've been fighting this thing. there's going to be a big vote in the house today whether or not they can actually stop this plant from operating in that state? >> what the bill would do, gretch, is it would prohibit the national labour relations board from ordering any employer to shut down a plant or relocate even if a company illegally retaliates against unionized workers so they're going to pass that in the house. that's going to pass. however, harry reid will not bring it up for a vote in the senate and some u.s. senators on the republican side took this

occasion to just let the obama administration really have it because we're talking 1,000 jobs here. i have a message for the president, if you're for job creation, you can't be against the job creators. i have another message for the president. we have a bill that will help solidify 1,000 jobs in south carolina, pass it now! if you want to be in favor of jobs, pass this bill now! >> he was mocking the president on the big push. the nlrb has come forward and said look, we have proof that they pulled out of washington state because of their -- they were fatigued from all these threatened strikes that the union had against them. >> number one, that seems like a good reason to move. number two, if that is illegal, boeing said look, you've taken our statements way out of order.

we want to be able to build a new airplane in another state and move our production line to charleston so they're going to fight this legally anyway but the house -- >> but it's already before a judge in seattle and it will take years to litigate and so they're thinking let's bring this to the forefront. maybe the pressure, the political pressure, when everybody is talking about jobs and there's 1,000 hanging in the balance, maybe this will push them a little closer to figuring out what the heck to do. >> let's do some of your headlines for your thursday. could the search for missing utah mom susan cox powell finally be over? police uncovered a set of human remains in the topaz mountains, an area where susan and her family went camping before she disappeared two years ago but susan's father skeptical of the discovery. >> who it is, he mean, it could be somebody from 100 years ago or it could be someone else's loved one who, you know, now will have an answer. >> police are expected to announce as early as today if the remains are a match. susan's husband josh powell is the only person of interest in that case.

update now on the colorado cantaloupes linked to four deaths because of listeria. health officials are now pinpointing the states the rocky ford melons were shipped to. those screens are on your screen right now. missouri, nebraska, oklahoma, arizona, which ones am i missing? new jersey, new york, pennsylvania. the cantaloupes have a green and white sticker on them that says rocky ford. there are now 17 cases of listeria linked to the fruit, listeria mostly affects older adults, pregnant women and babies. the symptoms are fever, muscle aches and confusion. former marine corporal received a medal of honor today. last night he had a beer with president obama. is that the same place where he had the beer summit? >> same table. >> this is outside the oval office. meyer is being honored for saving the lives of 36 u.s. and afghan troops ambushed by

meantime, in traditionally conservative west virginia, democratic senator joe manchin actually have seen his approval numbers rise. according to a recent poll, senator manchin had an approval rating of 52% in january. now that's gone up to 59% this month. what does this mean for democrats arnold the country? joining me now, former advisor to bill clinton and fox news contributor dick morris. i think he's the only democrat, is he not, who has actually gone up in the polls? >> yeah, because he's the only democrat who is sort of a political transvestite. >> a what? >> a political transvestite. he's a democrat but dresses as a republican. he goes around telling people that he's against obama and wants to repeal obamacare and he got elected with an ad where he shoots at a target on a tree that's called cap and trade. and his whole campaign is based on the concept that i'm against obama and i'm a republican even though he's a democrat.

question is the relationship between obama and kaiser. he was in the white house 16 times during the obama presidency and a deal like this gets done at that level. they took this deal that the bush administration had killed and six days after coming to office, they put it on a fast track to approval and something like that is wired beforehand and a bundler like kaiser would insist on direct access to obama. he wouldn't be happy to being shunted off to the energy secretary or those folks. he would do it directly and the problem with this for obama is it casts his jobs program and his environmental program into doubt and the stimulus spending because up to now it's just been a question of it may have been ineffective. it may have been misguided, green jobs may have been unrealistic but now there's the specter that it may have been corrupt and off the air, brian asked me are there more

let's listen. president obama on the road yesterday in south carolina where he rallied support for his jobs bill at a small company called west star precision. cue the president. >> do what a lot of companies here in the research triangle do so well, they hire smart people, they give them the best technology, they create something of lasting value. >> well, what the president didn't mention is that west star just opened a new facility in costa rica shipping jobs overseas. >> cheaper labor. joining us now, the host of "varney & company." . he doesn't come cheap and cost says us a bundle from the fox business network. i blame the staff on this. how could they march him out to north carolina and embarrass him like that? >> what kind of advice is he getting when he stumps for jobs, and visits a company that is exporting jobs, opening a new manufacturing facility in costa rica? yeah, they've got their headquarters in north carolina.

ok. but they've got jobs a lot of them in costa rica. there's a juxtaposition here. >> i heard this president is in charge of all the decisions so i don't know if i would blame it all on the advisors. when you're the leader of the free world, their first question might be how many jobs have they created in america? >> so here's another question for you -- the president goes to visit essentially a green energy company, this is west star precision, they make equipment that goes for ultimate energy companies. they're a green company. on the very day that he arrivess to visit this company, the energy department announces that the $38 billion green jobs program has only created 3,545 new permanent green jobs so far. so there's two questions. why visit a company which is exporting jobs when you plug in your jobs program. why visit a green energy company when they're just announcing that your green jobs program is a very costly, i'm not going to call it a failure but it's not a major success. >> sure. >> is it?

that's right. a new study suggests that a man's testosterone level may drop drastically after he becomes a dad. now, we've gathered our medical team who were playing cards right there. we were playing with their head shots there for this segment. psychiatrist and fox news contributor dr. keith ablow and hormone expert, dr. erica schwartz. first off, dr. keith. tell me about the science behind this study. >> yeah, look, this is a really interesting study because in the past, brian, they've looked at new dads and said, isn't that interesting? they seem to have lower testosterone than the general population buteople were wondering, wait a second, maybe that's because men who have slightly lower testosterone tend to want to have families. no. this looked at men before they ever decided to have families and looked at them perspectively and low and behold, dramatic decrease of testosterone after the children were born.

>> we have nine men in the studio staring at the full screen. it's dropping anywhere between 12% and 15% if you stay single. if you get hitched and have a kid 26% to 34%. do you buy these numbers? >> not really. first of all, it's all about sex. >> i've always said that. >> anyway, testosterone is always identified with sex. so this is the thing. you know, an animal that's the only monogamous animal in the mammal kingdom and they have low testosterone but they have oxytocin which is another hormone that goes up when they have babies. it makes them attach themselves to the partner so they can help the partner take care of the baby. so low testosterone level is a good thing for a while because what it does is it makes the man less interested in sex when the woman just had a baby and is not interested in sex. so that's ok. now, you need high testosterone

to get interested in sex to have babies. and also for you guys to feel macho about everything. so that's ok. >> right. >> the thing is, though, you need to know what your base testosterone level is at about 20 to 25 because you come into my office at the age of 45 with low testosterone levels wondering why your sex drive is low and you can't build muscle. but this is a good anthropological study. >> very interesting. >> so dr. keith, do you think any of our -- the things we do, for example, if we're very -- if we're very nurturing, if we start becoming a hands-on parent as a father, that could hurt your testosterone level. >> well, what's so interesting here, brian, is here is evidence that your environment affects your testosterone level. that's absolutely riveting because we should be looking at what other things in the environment affect not only testosterone but estrogen, insulin, it shows that really we're very emotional creatures

of them as tucker said, i think it's legitimate to look into it. what i would point to is the haste, the political expediency clearly on display. this is a loan program started by the bush administration to support emerging green industries in this country. >> but it was henry waxman put this in the stimulus bill. it was his idea to put it in. >> sure. no, there was a loan program established by the bush administration to start this, steve. and so what you get, though, is an effort by the u.s. government to support an industry, an emerging industry, green jobs, that is competing with foreign industries where governments in china and india support their green industries. >> right. that's one of the reasons why this company could make it, tucker, is they said china flooded the markets with solar panels so cheap, they couldn't compete. here's the other thing. it's a political calculation that apparently the largest private investor in solyndra aside from the federal government is this oklahoma billionaire by the name of george kaiser who is a big

bundler for president obama and over the last two years made 16 trips to the white house. >> that's exactly right. one of the biggest fundraisers for president obama. and let's be totally clear, the purpose of this program is not to just support an industry but to pick specific companies, that's very difficult. most venture capitalists have a poor track record of doing that actually in the past 10 years. government, an even worst track record. it's not just this industry. it's battery technology, electric vehicles. there's a lot of companies that the obama administration has been shovelling federal funds to. i think we're going to find out more. >> juan, i'll give you the final word. >> well, i think that's exactly right. but the idea was to support american companies to help them be more competitive with an international global economy. and remember, we have tax deductions. we have tax subsidies. we have tax credits, loan guarantees, these are all go to american companies. so the question is do you believe the government has any role in supporting any industry, car industry, green jobs, anything and i think that when you see politics get involved

they're doing it again today. you know, theresident has spoken nearly every day about his jobs plan and today his administration keeps up the drum beat on the various web sites. today, the president was on the road in raleigh durham north carolina selling his plan. today he stays in washington but the white house officials will answer questions on twitter, facebook and the white house web site. these social media q&a's is nothing new at the white house. it just shows the administration keeping up the pressure on congress to pass the jobs bill. the president is meeting with timothy geithner for his weekly update on the economy. brian? >> steve, the administration also answering questions about its relationship with that company, solyndra. what's latest there? >> right, the white house press secretary doing his best to field questions and explain the situation with our e-mails that seem to show the white house applying pressure to approve this huge loan, this half billion dollar loan to solyndra,

four by now, solyndra is the mother of all big green boondoggles and it does go straight to the white house. what you see in these e-mails and in the information that was brought to light at the house hearing yesterday was white house officials breathing down the next with their boots on the next of omb officials and they are in charge of assessing the worthiness of solyndra. they are motivated by the photo opportunities they had scheduled for solyndra to put barack obama in front as a -- some sort of a green jobs innovator and i think one of the big problems here is that this is the tip of the green iceberg and my column lays out this week that there are so many of these deals that need

the same kind of scrutiny. the $5 billion weatherization program that was part of the stimulus, for example, even some mainstream news outlets have pointed out that we're talking about six figures per job. none of these have come to fruition the way they have been predicted by the white house and there's all sorts of fraud going on when it comes clear to me that the white house is responsible and carol browner in particular whose name came up many times during the hearing for lowering the standards to make sure that taxpayers were protected. >> yeah. i read your column and it's great. there's so many little nuggets about what is going on, you got to check it out and as you said at the end, it must be a big scandal if the mainstream media is actually covering it these days. >> brian ross with abc was on with bill o'reilly it talk about it. >> the president was on his road show trying to push his american jobs act and he's been holding up that thing with the paper clip and what not, and as it

turns out, apparently, you know, kind of like copyrighting a product or work of some kind because that name, american jobs act, until yesterday belonged to barack obama. who's got it today? >> congressman louie gomer, the republican from texas is a great little maneuver yesterday on capitol hill. and more than -- more than plenty of us had a chuckle about it. but actually, there's a serious point and that is the fact that while president obama has been scheduling all of these bus tours and on the lecture circuit sermonizing to republicans that they're not doing enough and not doing it fast enough, it was his delay, it was their inability to find anyone who would actually sponsor and carry the bill that caused him to lose the name in the first place. >> so he's going to have to call it something else, right, the president? >> yeah, i don't know. >> one thing about the president and the administration anyway, they don't relish

>> welcome back, everyone. there have been a number of federal programs, as you know, to come out of the white house aimed to fix the housing crisis but none seem to stop the rise in foreclosures. with the numbers set to hit record rates, are there really any practical solutions to help homeowners? well, let's ask fox news legal analyst bob massi who joins me as he always does from las vegas. >> good morning. >> good morning to you. you have some suggestions because you specialize in this and your first suggestion for these folks is to put a moratorium on counting mortgage payments. what do you mean by that? >> well, here's what has to happen. because the whole american spirit has been affected, one of my suggestions is look, if you are current on all of your consumer debts, your car payments, your credit cards but you're behind on your mortgage because you've lost your job or bad loans, put a moratorium on people's credit because the impact, gretchen, that people feel that their whole life they've made the payments and they're current on everything else but can't get from under the water, why not credit agencies and credit people there. put a moratorium, freeze it.

so that people's fico scores are not ruined for years as a result of that. so i think number one that would be at least a good suggestion with certain protocols put in place. >> number two is to create a credit amnesty program. what does that mean? >> absolutely. i think at some point, because of how many millions of people have been affected, why not come up with an amnesty program saying look, if you lost your primary residence, gretchen, as a result of a foreclosure or short sale, and all of your other debts were current and you did everything you possibly could and again, there has to be some good, reasonable protocols put in place. put in an amnesty program that says listen, we're going to basically take that part of history and say it was a bad time in america, forgive and cure and make people's fico scores better to give them the opportunity to borrow again, grepen and feel a sense of sense

of self-worth. the credit issue is affecting people emotionally and that's another direction i would like to see them go. >> your number 3 point is helping struggling homeowners. let's say their home goes into foreclosures. you're suggesting to allow them to stay in their home and be a renter. >> there are people in las vegas that have been living in their home without making a payment for one or two years. why not come up with a plan that when a home owner's house is foreclosed on, let them stay in the home and maintain it and rent it for 10 to 24 months. let them build their credit back up and then resell it, again with certain reasonable protocols and guidelines to that home owner that doesn't want to leave their home. they're maintaining the home, gretchen, for the lender. they have a sense of self-worth. their kids still love the home. let them stay in the home under reasonable protocols and reasonable rent for a period of
