the plane plunged to the ground and killed three people and wounding 53 others. we'll get to the story with adam houseleyy who is joining us from reno. >> the teams that are coming in to look at the crash site and driving behind me as they head in. from the sheriff, i noticed two teams from the sheriff going in right now. at this hour, ntsb is meeting with the race officials and will speak to the median once that is completed. we saw the race officials come in here also. there is more action as the sun came up in reno. that crash as you showed the video. there are thousands of people here with phones and cameras and captured the horrive events when the mustang dove in the crowd. we have a picture that we want to show you that is part of the investigation. it is a picture of the back end of the mustang.

trip tag was torn off. at least torn loose. and a lot of people speculating how that may have hampered that pilot as the plane went in the crowd. we heard from witnesses and elected officials who are questioning about the future of the event and air races and here's what one had to say. >> my concern is the general safety of the public. i think the pilots know the risks that they are taking. but what the safety and concern should be is for the general public to come out and watch the races. that should be priority number one. >>reporter: it has a lot of people talking about the safety and security around the event. they haven't decided what will happen in the future years. this event has been going on since the 1960s. and more information coming in with the pilot and family.

jim who is 74 years old was a pilot with significant experience and never someone to take a risk . if you watch what happened and had a chance to look at the video. he pulled straight up it is when he was leaving the race and he lostt control of the galloping ghost. he radied may day before he went down. we expect to hear from the ntsb pretty soon. and we'll have the information and have it for you live in reno. three people were killed. 15 seriously injured and more than 50 injured all total. >> such a tragic story, adam thank you for bringing us up to date. there is a new scandal brewing for the white house. it centers on a wireless company.

doug is here with more. >>reporter: good to see you. what if you could provide wireless internet via satellite to the whole country. the obama administration is high on that idea and so is light square. that company was granted a waiver by the fcc to provide such a system even though there is serious concern that it would interview with key gps system that guide weapons. and movements. a top commander was urge would by the obama administration to down play such concern in written testimony. >> that type of intent to buy a testimony that goes to the stight to the issue of the heart of our national security is of grave concern. >>reporter: complicating the story, light square's largest investors donates a lot of money to the democrat party. as does the chairman. president obama as a u.s.

senator invested money in light square. on thursday, the general in testimony before the house armed services committee never said he was directly pressured to change his story. he gave a more nuanced reply. >> i don't know that it is totally accurate to say that there were no concerns it was a different business plan put forward and i think we were caught off guard january and february time frame we started to get concerned. >>reporter: in a statement, the white house said there was no attempt to influence the testimony beyond the consistency with the administration. and in light square believes it is facing political issues of its own. it was denied a chance to speak in the testimony. and using gps to use that to kill the competition. >> autoworkers and gm reached a tentative four year labor

contract deal. the union reportedly received what it wanted in terps of health care benefits and profit haring and rehiring of laid off workers. united autoworkers will make a final vote on this coming tuesday. gm is the first to reach a deal since the government bail out. talks continue with ford and chrysler. well, just one week to go until florida holds the straw pol. the governor is predicting that the winner will win the white house. and joining us now with more is florida governor rick scott. thank you for joining us. >> good morning and a big week and good afternoon i guess now. it is a big week in florida. we have the fox debate on thursday night. 9:00 p.m. eastern time. that is a great debate and learn more what the candidates

but you are participating. >> you are still in the debate is what you are saying. >> your name will be on the ballot and everyone will watch the debate and what you say in pack and what is the difference? i really believe that this is a very diverse state. we have every, almost 19 million people and next year will be the first and the primaries before us will be small enough in sizes compared to the size of florida and so it is a key state. governor perry taking heat for calling the social security a ponzi scheme. what impact are those remarks having in florida so far? well, social security is very important to florida. we have a lot of seniors and it is important to them and we all know we have to make sure social security is going to be there for them and future generation . we also have to make sure we

afford and fix it so it is sustainable. what i am dealing with the state pension fund and social security all of the retirement plans. >> but is the governor taking heat there from seniors who are upset that he called social security a ponzi scheme? >> i think the ponzi bids is a debate and everyone will have to come up ith how they are fixing social security . we want to make sure it is sustainable. every candidate will have to answer the question of fixing the social security. >> you have not endorsed a candidate at this point. we would like t know if you plan to do so and when? >> i don't plan on endorsing a candidate right now. we have a lot of great candidates that would be great presidents. i like healthy debate . the key is going to be jobs i ran last year, the whole debate who has the right plan for job creation and we had success this year. so who ever does that will be the winner.

>> who do you think has the best chance in a head-to-head match up with president obama in the general election? >> i think a lot of them are going to do well, you know, anybody that has the right plan for job creation will be the winner. right now, many of them could beat president. i believe a republican will win. but it will be the republican with the best job's plan. >> great to see you today. and of course, we look forward to all of the activities coming up in florida. thank you very much. sad new to report. kara kennedy oldest daughter of the ted kennedy has died. she died yesterday after suffering a heart attack. back in 2009 kennedy accepted the presidential medal of freedom on behalfful her father that was terminally ill. kennedy was 51 years old and another sad passing to share

wu. mondale spokesman. daughter of former vice-president mon dale died had her home. she was 51 and best known as a broadcast journalist. mondale retired after surgery to remove a brain tumor back in 2009. bail arrangements are reportedly being made for the two american hikers jail in iran since july 2009. an iranian lawyer representing shane bower and josh fattal should know today or tomorrow if they will be freed. he is hoping they will accept a payment of one million. they were sentenced last month to three years each for illegally entering iran and five years each for spying to the u.s.. they are denying the charges and are appealing. at this hour, rebel fighters are battling through gaddafi's home town much sirte trying to

gain control. david piper joins us from tripoli with the latest on the situation. david? >>reporter: hi, uma, rebels launched a new offensive to take gaddafi's home town of sirte. they are facing fierce resistance. snipers firing from marks and other high rise buildings and holding up the advance. one of gaddafi's son was seen before the offensive. rebel fighters are struggling to take a town. they have pulled ba to regroup. there are concerns that terrorist could get hold of sophisticated weapons. we had a tip of one secret munition dump that gaddafi created ar the tripoli airports. finding the weapon's cache was easy and signs that people have taken what they wanted.

in the other warehouses there are munition and in the warehouse there are 50,0 land mines and antipersonnel and antitank mines and they are in a civilian area and totally unguarded. these weapons were transported by gaddafi to places like this so they could escape nato air attacks. but the problem is people are taking them for ied's or sold on the black market. libya's de facto government and national tributional council promise to guard the cache. so far they are doing very little. >> six months of discussions and with the u.s. state department as well as with the national transitional council about securing the weapon's facilities, they dropped the ball. the state department also issued a warning now for

do you hear this view? >> guest: the issue at the time was an issue of process. what was not questioned and agreed upon is the sanctity of life. it is the importance of protecng women and children who could encounter thesty of a horrible type of cancer and governor perry is close with a lot of people who are victimized by the cancer and cares deeply to try to assure others will not be inflected by it. he will try to improve life and health care. he admitted that maybe the way he went about the process was not the best one and if he had to do it over again he would not have chosen. uma, this is different than two primary issues related to one is that rick perry has been with me and with all americans in fighting back

against obama care and trying to insure that he is clearr that he will repeal obama care when he is elected president. he's by my side as i filed the lawsuit challenge obama care and he understands it is a job killer in this country and also, that congress exceeded its authority in trying to man date all americans go out and purchase this product. but weaving back all of this to michelle bachmann, let's be clear about what is going on michelle bachmann is fighting back because rick perry has chi rocketing in the campaign and taken offand surpassed her by leaps and bounds. michelle bachmann knows what all americans know, that is the number one issue in this issue is jobs and job creation. she has no record on creating, rick perry has a terrific record on creating jobs and michelle bachmann is using an old-time campaign ploy to

raise an alternative issue to distract the record that she has no credibility on and rick perry will talk about jobs and getting america back to work again. >> let me move ahead because we are running out of time. with a new gal up poll when governor perry called the social security a ponzi scheme it is costing him independent voters who are key to win the white house. do you expect him to modify or change his views on the issue? >> what the governor pointed out is what most americans understand. we need to be concerned about the strength of our social security program. he's made it abundantly clear anyone receiving social security and anyone who will be receiving social security in the years to come will be guaranteed to receive that. but if we are going to protect this important system for our children and grandchildren and

future generations, we need to find way to improve it. barack obama in his speech next week is not going to announce a new plan to address social security. he and the democrats are ignoring this vitallyy important issue. rick perry will not run from the important issues and he will fix social security so that all seniors who currently receive it will continue to. and future generation will be benefiting from a system that will allow them to retire with dignity. >> he said one of his first order of business is to repeal obama care. how is that feasible at this point and do you think it will happen? >> first he agrees with us in the lawsuit challenging obama care and he knows that the court system is not the best. as president with a stroke of a pen he can work on repealing obama care and get this albratross off of our backs

and second by repealing obama care, he will unleash employment for and employers who are afraid to hire. there are hundreds of doctors getting out of the profession because of obama care. nonone saying i want to be a doctor becauseful obama care. rick perry will fix that and add new jobs. >> he plans to do that on day one and plan to repeal and make the effort to repeal it on day one? >> exactly. and repealing obama care is one of rick perry's top priorities because congress e exceeded its authority and forcing americans to purchase a product and in part because rick perry understands that obama care is crushing employment and jobs across the country, part of his plan to get america back working again is roll back the regulatory regime that obama impressed on the country and part of that

>> more on the deadly air crash in reno. during an air raid, the 74 year old pilot crashes in a crowd of spectators and killing three people and injurying dozens more. many people were severelyy injured. tom was a pilot who was among the eyewitnesses in the grandstands and joining us by phone. thank you for joining us. as an eyewitness to what was happening. can you describe the scene as it unfolded there and what are your observations as a pilot yourself as to what happened. >> sure, uma, happy to help you out grandstands are a thousand feet of the straight way there. it runs trai across and the pilot has a problem, any ype of program he will get away from the other racers and altitude. they use speed and convert it

in altitude and gain that altitude . what happened in this particular one, he began, manage must have gone wrong with the airplane and from the pictures, it looked like a part of the elevator that went wrong. he started to gainaltitude and the plane went in a barrel road. it inverted. then the barrel role shifted in a nose dive. it rolled over and nose dived right at the crowd. and i am shaken on this. but the airplane was coming straight at us . roughlyy 400 miles per hour we could see it coming at us at 400 to 500 feet. >> we understand that this gentleman is a veteran pilot who has years of experience and there are those who are suggesting that he also managed in those final moments to do what he could to avoid going into an area where there

were people and he may have saved lives by trying to get the plane in an area where the casulties might be less. >> that is my impression as a pilot. 400 feet above. he was aiming at my wife and myself and our friends and he was coming straight in and i was in the top of the grandstands and we had a great view. he would have plowed in the grandstands where there were more people. it was apparent to me. he did everything that he could. apparently he lost control of some part of the aircraft and he was trying to figure out what else do i have remaining control of the airplane to move it and he maneuvered. it was obvious to me he maneuvered the airplane and at 400 feet pointing at us . 200 30 rowws and impact. he was almost to the tarmac

group of advisors as a boy's club where women are talked over. and some are disputing the collection in the book confidence men. it comes out tuesday. in the book according to the washington post. suskind quotes anita dunn. this place would be in court for a hostile workplace because it fits all of the classic legal requirements for a genuinely hostile workplace for women. dunn said she did not say the white house was not a hostile environment. former head of the council advisor felt like a piece of meat that was boxed out by senior advisors. roamer said she can't imagine saying she felt like a piece of meat. the white house said it is

and the pool came out gall up that he is losing support from independents right now over the issue of calling the social security a ponzi scheme. any impact from how critical it is going to be to the campaign knowing that independent voters are key to winning the white house. >> sometimes governor perry has to be less like ram bow and more like james bond precise. one in five iowa take social security benefits and it is important in florida. but they know the system is broke yen perry is right about that. but what is his plan for fixing it? if he can sell that it will be another thing he neutralized. >> final thoughts on that. do you feel like mitt romney is a weapon. >> best weapon he has in his camp is michelle bachmann and the attacks she is making on rick perry on the vaccine and social security. >> with all due respect.

>> welcome back. preparing navy seal candidate system difficult and important work. one retired marine is volunteering time and training to train the seals for the dangerous combat assignments that our soldiers face. julie ban daras has more.

>>reporter: that's right. uma. pretraining classes this goes beyond repairing them for the minimum requirements set by the military. the camp's founder has run it 22 and volunteering two days aweek to prepare the soldiers for tomorrow. it is a long ardous journey and leading them from specialized train dangerous combat situations that american soldiers must face. for him it is a second call to duty to train them and some day be veterans like him one day. >> this is my way of giving back in light of me no longer wearing the uniform and serving the great country and serving them. and he does this by serving them a hard dose of reality. at his training facility in connecticut. future seals and marines are
