but to be honest, president obama was consistent with us. i came to washington five times and many months and the americans are consistent in telling me and telling my president and telling all of us that the u.n. is not an option and if we need to use a veto, use a veto. >> geraldo: you mentioned partisan politics. do you think it is possible for a u.s. president to be even handed given the poured concrete irof the proisraeli side in domestic policy? >> the question so ask the israelis is not whether you are proisrael or propalestine. the question is propeace or against peace. we are trying to save the lives of my sons and. we are sick and tired are having to take our children to the cemeteries. we want to live and let live and if not today, tomorrow, the day after, there will be a two step solution. >> geraldo: you recognize the right of israel to exist as a

through his own diplomacy, so to speak, make jewish americans feel insecure about america's position toward israel? >> i think there being a number of incidents already that were i think in this category of the fact that the president for example came out with positions that were different from what he said when was campaigning for office has really upset a lot of people and the positions he did come out, for example, when came out with the 1967 lines when those lines by ever i have standard have never been considered to be the final resolution of where the borders will be when came out on the issue of the settlements which is a secondary issue. the settlement issue for scam, the president proposed the settlement freeze. the settlements are not the issue. whereever the borders lie will determine where the settlements. on one side will stay with israel and on o the other side will stay with the palestinians. to turn that into an issue and

as one of the leading palestinians said to me they did not want that to be the issue even though they view that as a propaganda think. they said we can't be less palestinian than the american president. i never thought a palestinian leader would say that for me. >> geraldo: jewish support for president obama has dropped but not dramatically. 83% of jewish voters approved of the president in january of 2009 compared to 66% for all americans. 54% approve now of jewish americans compared to 41% for all americans. a drop of 29 about percent among jewish american voters. more than 25% among all americans. so slightly more than all americans. but deeply disturbing i would guess for a democrat. didn't you support president obama? >> i supported president obama. my newspaper the new york daily news endorsed him. i helped write one of his speeches during his campaign and worked with him on various policies during his campaign or

with his colleagues and i have been a democrat virtually all of my life. >> geraldo: do i hear in your voice you are not going to support him in 2012? >> i don't know who the republicans are going to nominate. i have had serious differences with in administration on israel and that is the first time that has happenein a long time. >> geraldo: did not approve of the jewish nature of israel and i do. although i'm very even handed, i think, on the issue. i do because there are four nations, put them on the screen that have islamic republic in the title. afghanistan, iran, and pakistan. do you have that super. five nations have as the state religion roman catholicism. three eastern orthodox, nine lutheran. 13 have sunny muslim. >> there is an important meaning to the jewish.

when they refer to it as being a jewish state. everybody in that part of the word is code. it is code for the following that they will not accept back millions of refugees. that is what it represents and that is a critical issue for the israelis. >> geraldo: finally, very briefly, could this cost president obama the election? >> i don't know. i think it is too early to tell and i think it will depend who the republicans nominate. there is no doubt to my view by far and away the dominant issue in the election is the catastrophic condition of our economy where we have 25 million people unemployed or unemployed in america and 15% of people who are in poverty conditions and millions of people who are underemployed. that is the dominant issue. >> geraldo: i agree and the economy affects all of us. thanks. mort zuckerman, ladies and gentlemen. >> coming up at the bottom of the hour, jermaine jackson is here to talk about the trial.

troubled and alone and he was being objectioned by everybody. how did that exile, that emotional exile affect you? >> well, i felt that everybody had abandoned, they had just went away and i was wondering where is all the people who love him and loved his music and things like that. what bothered me is the fact that they didn't care. >> geraldo: did you ever doubt whether or not michael was indeed a pedophile? >> never doubted it. he was a thousand percent innocent and because i knew his upbringing and how all these things came about and his love, love for children. >> geraldo: jump from 2005 to 2009 and he is underweight. his body frail, almost skeleton like. >> i write in the book about symptoms that he was experiencing that he never had.

and during the rehearsals one half of his body was completely cold and one was very, very hot and he was repeating himself. lost unbelievable weight. he didn't know whether to go right or left. before this, geraldo, he was h healthy. very healthy. he was excited. he just put money on a home that he was looking for beyond this. so we are trying to figure out what went wrong from the time we saw him leading up to the rehearsals to mid june on. what happened. >> geraldo: you write in the book this was doctor, conrad murray giving michael so much anesthetic it was poisoning h his system. do you believe that he in essence was guilty of murdering

your brother? >> we will wait for a jury. as a doctor, we all take an oath to take care of our clients and patients, right. dr. conrad murray was is supposed to keep michael healthy. regardless, michael had problems with sleeping. whether michael asked for propathol or not, this didn't happen one night, this is over time. these symptoms have to be from giving someone this over four to five to section times and that is why the deterioration, him not knowing whether to go right or left or things like that. we saw him last and he was happy and he was excited. do i put in -- recall one time he didn't show upt rehearsal and they went to his home and they read him the riot act. they said the most horrible things to him. why? i had eyes and ears there. we are trying to figure out what happened from that point on that my brother comes from being excited about a show to

just deteriorating to becoming dead. >> geraldo: you write about how they read him the riot act about having to perform these 50 concerts that he was broke, that he would lose everything if he don't show up. is that what you mean, they forced him to do it? his creditors? >> i don't know but i do know that they weren't niece. thenice. they weren't nice and there were comments of taking his kids away from him, all kind of things. some of the complaints he had, they would say just get him a blanket. >> geraldo: when was cold. >> oh, just get him a bucket of chicken. things like this and i'm saying what about the person, the human being. if you see these signs, call someone. call a doctor. i wish that someone would have called us. he would be alive today right this moment because we would have said we are shutting it down, can't you see he is not well, we're taking h him to the hospital.

he would be breathing today. >> geraldo: is it a good start at least that the doctor who was attending him is on trial for manslaughter? >> geraldo, it is a good start but it is never a good finish in a situation like this because we are not going to get closure. michael's gone. none of this is going to bring him back. i think it would be great for us to know as well as the public and the fans, get a better understanding as to what happened. >> geraldo: let me go through some of the rumors. you say your brother was not a pedophile. was he gay? >> no way. i should pinch you. never. >> geraldo: these are all issues addressed, ladies and gentlemen, in the best selling memoir? >> never, never. listen, michael, when spent time with diana ross and with the wiz he had this admiration for diana ross when was young and i think it got to a point where he really loved her and he really liked her. still to this day and she was just this dream for him and he

had this ongoing just fascination for her. he loved her. >> geraldo: was his marriage to lisa marie presley, another point you make in the book a sham? >> i thought the marriage -- i wanted them to stay together. why? because i felt michael had a strong woman and she is strong and speaks her mind. michael is timid and shy and i thought that it would work. michael jackson and lisa marie. she doesn't need him for what he has and he doesn't need her for what she has. there is pride and ego and the outside world and something has happened. >> she stood by his side during the roughest period. >> i love her. she's great. >> are the children michael's biological children? >> yes, they are. and i will explain to you why? >> tell me? >> i was at the house the other day and they were all playing

murray? >> i believe that they have the easier case than the defense has. i mean obviously when you have a physician, geraldo, who is put in a confidential situation and a privileged situation and then you have an admission of propathol being administered in athon hospital setting along with other issues i think they have a better case to present that the defense has to defend against. >> geraldo: i misspeak. it wasn't two and a half years. two and a half months before his demise in july or june rather. at the end of it, what is conrad murray facing really, bob? >> well, look, he is charged with involuntariry manslaughter which is an unintentional homicide as a result of a negligent or reckless act. what is going to happen here is that the defense is going to have to try to show that this was an accident. they even alleged and i don't know and i don't want to misspeak if they are going to be allowed allegedly that he

even tried to commit suicide and they also alleged that he may have injected himself. but the problem is, geraldo, again, physician in a confidential arrangement being paid good money with this kind of medication for a hospital setting they have a very, very tough case to overcome. >> geraldo: the defense does. >> yes, sir. >> geraldo: i know you have met dr. conrad murray. i don't want you to give away any of your conversations but what would you advice a person like him in this situation in terms of facing the jury? would you take the witness stand? >> he has a few things against him. we call him robodoc. he is tall and has a thick accept. he has to humanize himself and tone it down. i'm not his lawyer, at this point i don't think he can do that. >> geraldo: do you think he is arrogant? >> i think he is arrogant. he comes across imposing even

if he is not personally arrogant and he is a doctor. the doctors i work with usually come to me and they are usually quite arrogant and they need to come down a few levels before they relate to a jury. >> a defendant has a consultant just like a tv personality has a consulat consultant to tell w to behave on the witness stand. >> and trial for investigations. i work with people prior to going into prison. entire thing. >> geraldo: bob, i know the defense tried and failed to bring other doctors who had been give offing him drugs over the the years. do you think that was a righteous call by the judge in the case? >> tough judge, by the way, geraldo. this guy as you already know, you have been around enough judges and tried cases. this judge is a tough guy and making it very clear this case although michael jackson was the victim, this case is not

about michael jackson, it is is about the prosecution of dr. murray. the fact they tried to bring it in, as you and i know it could have relevance if in fact you show that there is an addiction here and that he was exposed to this by other doctors. the bottom line on all of this is going to be what kind of medication was he on, who was administering the medication and i have to tell you, geraldo, i had the chance today to read some of the transcripts from the preliminary hearing. they are very revealing. the people that is going to be most harmful are the first responders to when went to the house. when you read what they testified to, some of the remarks that dr. murray said that he in fact was sleeping, the fact of the different kind of medications. it is mind boggling. they will be very, very difficult to overcomfort defense. >> geraldo: the oak ridge boys. next! the two trains and a bus rider. the "i'll sleep when it's done" academic.
