i'm bill o'reilly. please always remember that the spin stops right here. we are definitely looking out for you. >> rick perry takes a page out of herman cain's playbook and offers up his own flat tax plan. >> today i lay before the american people my cut, balance and grow plan. >> so can this be the moment that the pair campaign turns the corner? with the shadow of sharia law looming over libya, how can this affect peace? pat buchanan is here. and michele bachman pushes forward in iowa as her campaign gets hit of rumors of defections and in-fighting. she will join me live with her

latest on the path to the white house. and plus details on the shocking new proposal for a middle school sex ed curriculum in new york city that has parents outraged. we are on the road to 2012 and hannity starts right now. >> presidential candidates rick perry unveiled a bold plan in north carolina today and the key point of his proposal is the 20% flat tax. let's take a look. >> today i lay before the american people my cut, balance and grow plan. it cuts taxes, and it acu my plg every american the option of throwing out that 3 million words of the current tax code, and i might add the cost of complying with all of that code, in order to pay a 20% flat tax

on their income. the best representation in my plan is this postcard. this is the sides what have we are talking about right here. taxpayers will be able to fill this out and file their taxes on that. >> h & r block won't be happy. some of his opponents in the race to have the white house, they have not been so complimentary. earlier today former speaker of the house, newt gingrich, issued a press release that his plan will result in more job creation in the u.s. gingrich plans calls for a 15% flat tax compared to perry's 20%. he also proposed a lower corporate tax rate. who has the proposal that will help you, the american people, back to work? joining me with answers, the host of varney and company, stewart varney.
6:03 pm
and she deals with beckel every single solitary day -- >> it's a pleasure. >> it is. look, what i like more than anything is that i like cain is talking about major revisions in the tax code. newt is in his plan. perry is today in his plan. is this the result of herman cain 9-9-9? >> yes, because he blazed the trails. he went up in the pole because he had a simple tact reform plan that was pretty radical. he made progress doing that. he dragged everybody else with him and i think this is now front and center and the issue, the debate point in the election of 2012. i think it's a fabulous thing. >> is changing the tax code the answer at this time? >> yes. >> i would like to see a change because it's so burdensome. >> yes. how else are you going to get the private sector really fired up and moving again? it's got to be tax reform. lower rates, fewer debe -- deductions and get the private
6:04 pm
sector going. the private sector has to do it, not deposit. >> i agree. what i love about this primary season has been that republicans have been more bold in their proposals, and one person we didn't talk about is governor jon huntsman who came out with his plan about two months ago, well received on the conservative side. all of these plans have people that are criticizing them. but taken as a whole, there is a movement that they realize we cannot grow this economy unless we deal with tax reform. what bothers me is you hear some people say, yeah, but that will never pass the congress. we shouldn't support that because it will never pass. i don't think that's necessarily true. i think a new president with a new congress could actually get it done. >> if this is the result of herman cain 9-9-9, one thing that's happening already is herman cain is sustaining his poll strength. >> right. >> the poll came out today. cbs news, new york times . cain 25, and mit22 and perry 10.
6:05 pm
>> it's easy to understand. >> am i gleaning from this, mr. varney, sir that's correct you support this? >> i support the idea of radical tax reform, lower rates and fewer deductions. >> or do you support 9-9-9 oregon a flat tax? >> i like newt gingrich proposal, and i like the perry proposal because it has the best chance of passing because it's optional. that's a big deal. and i like the cain plan because of its simplicity. >> i don't think cain is that simple. >> 9-9-9, people seem to understand it. >> i think the consumption tax, and talking about a national sales tax, there is still room i think for discussion about that because that capture a lot of the underground economy and deals with the issue of lower income people not having to hopefully pay as much as the rich. >> but look at these policy today. you have the majority of the country now, 70% of this country
6:06 pm
thinks that america is in decline. and by the way, they are right, it is in decline. i'm looking at the economic situation, the european union, you know, greenspan says likelihood of a collapse or the strong possibility of a collapse. what does that mean for the u.s. and our economy? some say it's another recession. >> this is profoundly un-american. i've been here 40 years. america is a get up and go society, dynamic. that's what it is. prosperity is it's very nature. that's america. we are nowhere near that at this moment. we are going in the opposite direction. we are become more and more like europe and people don't like that. >> i think if you were to design a system from scratch, wipe the slate clean. >> we will make you president. >> that wouldn't be very good. but if you were to design the best, fairest tax system, what would it be?
6:07 pm
and forget about all the noise of what could pass and how many electoral votes you could get. >> i would pick the fair tax. >> right. and the debate is still open. >> what would you pick? >> i think i would do a consumption tax as well. >> because it picks up the underground economy. if drug dealers or criminals want to buy a car, they pay. want to buy a house, they pay. >> and people hear sometimes a national retail sales tax, they think on top of that i have to pay my state income tax. >> but you eliminate the irs. >> the simplicity point is important. i don't think perry goes enough on the simplicity point. the postal card is ant excellent prop, even though the postal service is going toy way. they say one plan with the perry man is because it's an option, instead of being able to reduce the amount of time of figuring out your taxes, you would have to figure it out for both plans
6:08 pm
to figure it out. >> h & r block would be happy about that. >> sure. >> i'm wait to go hear from mitt romney. if he comes down on his plan and comes down on lower tax rates all across the poured, then you know we've arrived at a point where that is the issue going forward. >> i think it is for lower rates across the board. >> it is. i don't know what the rate is. >> you think it will simplify the message a little bit? >> yes. >> i have the book, i've read newt's contract, i've read the 9-9-9 plan, i've read the criticisms of all of them. and all of them are in -- are better than what obama is giving you. >> and if the conservatives win, it will be active. >> and the white house is worried, they came out this morning before 10:00 and had somebody from the obama campaign dismissing and dissing both the romney plan and perry plan and put it together in a memo.
6:09 pm
>> and romney said if we don't pass the president's plan, rape and murder will go up and republicans -- and democrats saying republicans want dirty air and water. no one can look you straight in the eye and say we didn't improve everything. >> the first thing reagan did when he got into office, lower tax rates for everybody. and up goes the economy. a direct parallel. >> good to see you. and she called you establishment. i want you to know that, before we went on air. >> did i? i don't think i did. >> and coming up, congresswoman michele bachman will be here, but first patrick j buchanan shows us what it could look like if sharia law becomes the law of the land in libya. and don't forget, it's text vote tuesday. tonight we are asking would you support the i amply mentation

we could be worse enough egypt. but no doubt, take a look at egypt, libya, and hamas, and iraq, islam is rising in the middle east. you take a look at turkey, i think islam is awakening. if you will, it's a great awakening of islam and i think they see the west as dying out, the west has retreated, the west's populations are dying and we are moving in and our time has come again as it came in the seventh and eighth century. >> is it a great awakening of radical islamic views? turkey started out a lot more moderate than it is today. and a lot of these other countries, the influence of ivan greater, they are funding approximatey wars. >> and they are cancelling out what he did. he made it a secular society and he said we are a muslim country and that's going to be reflected in our laws. in other words our religion is going to govern how we govern
6:16 pm
and rule ourselves. it's quite natural. a lot of our laws in the 19th century used to reflect the christian attitudes of the great awakening. this will present a problem because in a sense not all the muslims -- many want to live a good life according to the religion, but some of them are saying this is our time now. the west con -- conquered and ruled us and now it's our turn. >> you talk with the assault on christian city and the catholic faith, et cetera. but if this is the rise of radical islam we compare it to the cold war. the cold war we had something called mutual destruction and the soviets respected that. i'm not sure a jihaddist islamist, if that's the overriding philosophy of they are waiting for them in heaven, if that fear exists.
6:17 pm
>> the threat from islam is different. the soviet union had thousands of nuclear weapons. if something happened in that crisis, we would all be dead. but these country together have a gdp of about the size of spain. their exports are about the size of finland so they can't beat the rest that way. what they can do, it was said in algeria in 1974, we are going to move into europe and our contradictory over europe is going to come from the wombs of our women. look at rush huh is going to lose 25 million people, sean, between now and 2050. they already lost 10 million since the cold war. that's going to be a half islamic country by 2050, russia. >> lock at the problems great britain has been dealing with and belgium and france and banning burkahs in public.

they have separate cultures, and the radicalized elements, they didn't have the ability to stand up to them. true or false? >> exactly. they said this summer it has failed to germany. after september 11th they are firing bottle rockets off in celebration. you saw in london this summer folks from the middle east and other places from the caribbean rioting in the streets of london. in paris they were burning cars by the thousands in 2005. what has happened is europe has never no one large immigration. folks are coming in from countries and cultures who have never been assimilated and they don't have a melting pot. >> last question. you said in a recent column or commentary you made that you think the tea party may bolt if mitt romney is the nominee. i don't believe that. >> no, here's the thing. i was asked a number of questions about who would be a good third party can indicate, and i said, you know, and i listed a number of them and i said, no, no.
6:19 pm
>> are you running again? >> no. and ron paul has not asked me to be vice president. >> who am i and why am i here, pat? >> i think there are folks who put together a third party, and i do think there are some tea party folks and some folks bitter at romney, and if the democrats manage to get one of those individuals on the third party i think the election will be 49-51. >> but you support romney if he's the nominee? >> if he is nominated i think everybody has to support him, including the baptist. >> and a shocking education program in new york city. it is exposed. we have copies of the suggested work book. you won't believe what your students or kids may soon be taught. but first michele bachman has heights set on iowa while some of her satisfiers in new hampshire has abruptly quit. she will be here live with her campaign. be sure to tune in tomorrow

road with 2012 and the latest to be hit with bad news is minnesota congresswoman michele bachman. yesterday members of her new hampshire team offered a memo explaining staffers in that state has resigned. although they hit back calling it an unauthorized news release sent by a person who doesn't work for the campaign and hasn't had authority to speak on behalf of the campaign. her campaign tense to press forward in iowa, hoping to regain the momentum that help her win the ames straw poll. and joining me is minnesota congresswoman, republican presidential can indicate, michele bachman. welcome back. how are you? >> great to be with you. >> it appears you have national staffsers lashing out at the national campaign, and the national campaign saying eye the not true. is this a bump in the road? what's going on here. >> we are in the process of hiring new people in new hampshire. we are hiring new people in south carolina and iowa, but

issue for our candidate. we have to make sure our candidate is lock solid pro life. but not only that, not only out of political convenience, it has to be something they will fight for. generally speaking, what i found in congress and in washington d.c., there are very few people, sean, who fight on issues. they may vote right burks we need a president who is going to lead and the president has to be able to lead on all of these issues, whether it's leading on pro-life, which i have, or leading on the definition of marriage as one woman, as i have. or on tax reform, which i have, or as i have led on the repeal of dodd frank, the jobs and housing act. that's what we need in the recollection candidate, a lead who are has led on these issues. that's what sets me apart in the race. i'm a proven leader who has been fighting on all of these issues in washington d.c. that's what we need to the white house. >> what do you think, perry came
6:28 pm
out today with his flat tax plan, we mentioned at the top of the show newt's plan, and obviously herman cain, there's been a lot of talk about his #*d #*d -- 9-9-9 plan, and what do you think about those in particular? do you think scrapping the tax code is a good idea? >> i would like to come out and talk about my plan. it's been out there for several weeks. i like what president perry is coming up with because it's, in essence, my plan. >> a flat tax? >> they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and i've been talking for months about a simpler, flatter system that you can do on -- do on a postcard and send in. and so i'm grateful that governor perry has endorsed my plan and adopted it. >> is your 20% like governor perry? >> my plan has everyone paying something. that's -- i disagree with governor perry and with herman
6:29 pm
cain and various other plans where they -- where they don't require every american to pay something. i'm a federal tax lawyer. i firmly believe that every american should pay something, even if it's just a dollar. everybody needs to pay something because this year we have 51% of the american people who aren't paying anything. we have to have everyone pay something. and even if it's a nominal amount, they need to pay. i don't believe that anyone should have their tax liability completely wiped out. >> we have half the country who pays no federal income tax. >> that's wrong. everybody has to pay something, sean. that's my plan. >> good to see you. we always appreciate your time. thanks for being with us. >> thank you. >> coming up, details of the shocking news sex education program set to hit new york city schools this spring and why parents are up in arms over the curriculum. thatthat and the great great american panel next.
6:34 pm
>> parents are about to get an earful in new york city schools get their way. they have a new sex ed curriculum. children as young as 11 will be required to participate. and the schools are playing defense saying abstainens is still being stressed as the best way to avoid pregnancy and stds and parents can opt to exclude their children from certain lessons if they choose. and joining me, author of particular don't let your kids drink the kool-aid." mary beth hicks is with us. ten and eleverren years old,
6:35 pm
they talk about oil base lubricant, master bags, french kissing, oral sex, anal sex. the kids can opt out only of the part that talks about sexual, permitting sexual pregnancy. >> i think it's ridiculous that the schools can actually man date that children must be in these classes. i think that's the main flaw with this. >> do you think it's age appropriate for 11-year-old? >> it is not age appropriate. i don't think that children should be ignorant. i think they need to be education but the education should come from their families. >> mary beth, looking at the same new york post has a story that only 25% of kids that are supposed to graduate are ready for college or even make it to that point in new york city. so they are kind are falling down on reading, writing and math but in the older grades they get into oral sex with braces, and vibrators, and others because they ask them to go to a website at columbia

university. >> it's almost too embarrassing you you of to talk to you about sean honestly. several years ago the american board of pediatrics talked about the fact that the united states is the most sexualized culture for children in the western hemisphere and warning parents against letting kids be engaged with two much hypersexual media, and credit we send them off to school. this will not be exclusive to new york. >> what bothers me, mary beth, more than anything else, there are lot of parents that disagree with this. a lot of parents have different values. the school is literally circumventing the parents' values and unless it comes to birth control the kids can't opt out. why don't we just take our kids, hand them over to the state and turn them into good little '60s liberals and get them back when they are 30 and off the acid trip. >> it undermines parental
6:37 pm
authority. parents really have strong feelings about when their children are mature enough or ready or whether it's necessary to give them this and i would argue it's not necessary to give them all this graphic information. but parents should be the ones choosing that. i think if the new york city schools want to arm parents with information they can send home and parents can make that decision about educating their kids in these areas, that's up to them. but to make that decision unilaterally on behalf of parents is completely wrong. >> we agree with that. but you say the danger of ignorance. and i remember when holly north and brendan his lawyer, he said i'm not a potted plant. that's why i'm here. why are the parents there in and if there are guardians for kids and they aren't getting this information, how about they opt in after school, after they finish reading math, science and learning, you know, the basics? >> i think the thing; unfortunately there are many kids out there whose parents have really usurped their
6:38 pm
responsibility to teach these values at home. >> but every kid shouldn't suffer because because some of . >> but even if their parents at home appreciate abstain earnings which i support, there are gets getting information from reality shows and the internet. >> should they have the right to go in without parental position of consent and grab a handful of condoms? >> no. but children may find themselves in situation they may decide to have sex. and we don't want them to but if they do they should be able to protect themselves. >> sometimes the kids don't know because their parents are choosing not to exploit their innocence and i think we need to respect the role of parents in the lives of their children and we need to question why is it so important to some people to exploit the innocence of children and to make them part of the hypersexual culture at such a young age.
6:39 pm
i question the reasoning. >> robbing the kids. their innocence at earlier and earlier ages. good to see you both. time to check in with greta. where was this taking off on monday night thing? >> yeah, you know, actually a family thing i did. >> a family thing? >> i took the night off. >> a family thing. and that's a good excuse. a great show tonight. we have donald trump who has once again resurrected the birther irish you with governor perry. and there's a book out, a wonderful new book, and brit hume is more and we will find out if donald trump wants to be vice president. how about that one? >> that's a good question. i gave an interview with gq and they asked me who ties do you wear? i said i wear trump dice. i have a whole collection. i have the whole thing. >> he gave me a ferrari. did he give you a ferrari? >> did he give you a ferrari? >> yeah, just like roger ales
