>> bill: talking points always wants to be fair. so here is a balanced perspective. in the beginning many of the protesters wanted to vent a legitimate beef that brokerage houses are manipulating the economy. in many cases that's true. the occupiers have some valid points. very quickly, very quickly, anarchists, communists zi lent psycho paths showed up and now. the worst part that the chaos is being manipulated and financed at a very high level. listen to united steel workers president leo garrard.

project. we are seeing that very clearly in greece. the last thing we need at this time are european style big government solutions. majority of americans clearly reject. and president obama, who is a quintessentially european style politician has been tried to implement some of these european policies here in america and too disastrous effect. so, these protesters, i think, are hugely misguided in their thinking. heavily influenced clearly by marxist ideas. and now they are turning to violence. so these protesters really, i think represent the far left in the united states and they are trying to has been tried and tested for many decades in europe and have been absolutely disastrous. >> how do you respond to that? >> i don't think it's right to paint as broad of a brush as we are that greece somehow symbolizes failure of the

european project which i think is what he said. we are leaving out a lot of european states who have a lot of levels of unemployment than the united states, germany, which spends a lot more on social spending, the so-called welfare states than greece does. sweden, netherlands, belgium. all of these countries have lower rates of unemployment than the united states does today. germany also has something going for it. it has export surplus. now, i know a lot of fact factory workers in this country would love to have an export surplus. there are things we can learn here. >> bill: in germany they cut back the entitlement spending as you know. they breelly brought it down to a level where they have a surplus and they are the strongest economy in europe. but greece is totally out of control and the last two years. greece has run up a $94 billion deficit. okay? by social spending entitlement spending it is a socialistic state. that has happened to italy it happened in portugal. it happened in spain. what i don't understand what

dr. garden doesn't understand and protesters obviously don't understand is that if you allow the government to run the economy as it does in yeast and the others i mentioned, it is a disaster. so why don't the occupiers get that and go into the free marketplace more? >> so here is some differences between germany and greece. now, one is that germany doesn't have a problem taxing millionaires. they actually don't run deficits there. >> bill: what is the tax on millionaires in germany. >> can i tell you it's higher. >> bill: okay. i don't think it's any hirer than it is here. >> they don't run deficits to your point there is a reason they spend a lot more than we do on social spending. they finance their social spending with taxes. >> bill: you are distorting it with all due respect. defense budget at all zero. protect themselves. you can't really compare that now, dr. gardner, tamara's point is that if you run a government efficiently, as germany does. that you can't have both those

president obama is the happiest guy in town because, you know, the republicans are once again feuding among themselves. >> who has made that point consistently over the last two months? newt gingrich. he has said, look, we should be turning our ire and our focus on the failed economic policies of this president and the fact that the state is currently in a terrible rate of decline. not talking about china and how we can grow this economy and compete with growing emerging markets across the globe. meanwhile, obama gets to skate. he has made that point i think very well. he has gotten a lot of notice. this has built gradually for gingrich. i would watch newt gingrich very closely. i think cain's campaign has slowly become a little bit more disciplined. on this story it took a long time to get more focused and a little bit ahead of it they have had a difficult few days no doubt about it i know they raised a lot of money, bill, it doesn't look like a well-handled

>> bill: watters world segment tonight. the justin department released a report that said the american taxpayer picked up the tab for $16 muffins provided at a justice department conference. that epitomizes the tremendous waste of taxpayer dollars. the left didn't like that report and sought to discredit it saying there is also juice, coffee and fruit included with the $16 muffin. they retracted the if you have fin scandal. we are not convinced. we sent jesse watters out to find the real story ♪ do you know the muffin man? >> can i get coffee, tea, juice, a muffin and some fruit? >> $6. >> $6? >> yes. >> you complete me.

supplies. unquote. here now to sort it all out for us the culture warriors margaret hoover and gresham carlson. diapers, carlson, diapers? >> let's put it in progressive. this is part of the child care development block grant of 1990, $5 billion to 50 states so far in 2011. 2 billion more in funds in 2009. this diaper thing will not be any additional money. that's how much money we are already giving to the states. then they decide how they want to spend it. >> bill: but this guy blumenthal, he wants written into the block grant that they can spend the money on diapers, hoover, correct? >> that is correct. >> bill: why? >> the child care development block grant act is empowering low income people. >> bill: empowering? >> gives the ability for low income people to then spend some of their medicaid dollars on child care needs, including diapers. >> bill: why can't they do that now? >> here is what i would be concerned at as a conservative.

how are they going to buy their diapers for their kids? >> let the states decide get it out. okay. now we have another serious situation. a new jersey hospital where a bunch of nurses are suing the hospital because they are forcing them, allegedly hoover to assist in abortions and the nurses say we don't believe in that it goes against our fundamental system do they have a case. >> they absolutely have a case. this is a issue that everybody can agree on because they have not only federal rights but state rights to con she enshusly object to assisting in abortions. >> bill: up to a few months ago, carlson, the hospital wasn't forcing them to do this and now the nurses say i think it is in september that they are forcing these nurses to train. no nurse, correct me if i am wrong, has been forced yet. >> yes, they have. we spoke to one of the nurses

school system like that. >> the law says that the schools in all cases when you are talking about religious, you know, pilgrimages if you will or beliefs. they have to grant you a reasonable accommodation. >> bill: you think three weeks in the middle of a semester. >> the only way they get out of doing it is if the show could show it would be undue shardship on the school to do that to you. >> bill: it's a hardship on the students. >> they apparently did not think they could make that case successfully. >> bill: you are an attorney and anchor person. don't you understand what's happening in our system here? people file lawsuits against against businesses, against school districts, anything because they know as you just said it's more expensive to adjudicate than it is to get my 75,000. >> gets dicey when you start telling religious people that they can't have religious accommodation to practice their faith. you want christmas off and your employer says no. that's protected. >> bill: one or two days is reasonable. >> it's a once in a lifetime.
