horror. two americans are among the passengers still unaccounted for after the costa concordia ran aground. figuring out how a ship that big, with radar and technology hit something that rips a 160 foot cash in its hull. and the captain faces manslaughter charges and abandoning his ship and his company points the finger of blame at the captain. reads in part, quote. it seems that the captain made errors of judgment that had very grave consequences. the route followed by the ship turned out to be too close to the coast. and it seems that his decision in handling the emergency did not follow cost a crocie r. e's procedures. they searched in hopes of

finding survivors and found the bodies of two more victims, elderly men in their life jackets and the discovery bringing the number of known dead to five. we're told that the number could rise. we've heard so much about the chaos in the moments when the ship started to go down and tonight, new amateur video coming into fox news. this taken from inside the ship immediately after it ran aground. listen to the announcement. as the lights went out. >> under control, we're currently in a blackout and our technicians are working to resolve the situation, and as they occur. >> an electrical fault, that's what they were told. more than 4,000 people on that ship at first. here is what followed. >> they said we were pushing and shoving, that's not true. they said the fifth floor and fourth floor and come to the boat. back to the boat when we got up to the boat. this man women and children first.

and that's when people kind of got, because they didn't know what to do. the people that were on the boat, they had no idea what to do so they're just standing there looking at us. >> and fox news correspondent greg burke streaming live from us from rome. you've learned details about the captain of that ship? >> harris, that's right. you know, something very interesting, he was hired by costa cruises in 2002 and get this, director of safety, security, on these ships and then later in 2006. he was promoted to captain. costa initially defended him in what happened here and later though, just one day later, 24 hours saying now, that he did make some serious errors, and he was too close to the coast. they initially said he followed the same route as everything, now, the other thing very interesting, coming out today, was that it appears the ship not only tried to keep the passengers calm.

and it took a very long time. up to an hour letting the italian coast guard know that it was in serious trouble. obviously, with such a big hole in its hull. harris. >> harris: those are interesting details coming out of this investigation, it's early, greg, we want to point that out. they found victims, some alive and some survivors, and also some bodies. what are chances of finding more people this that boat? >> well, they've been pretty honest about that. the good news today italian, after 36 hours he had a broken leg and taken out, but quite frankly they're starting to go upped neat the water line and admitting it's going to be very, very difficult as the toll stands right now five dead, 15 unaccounted for, among those 15, two americans. there may be some hope though that they'll find them elsewhere. today there was also a group of japanese who showed up in rome and they took off. didn't tell anyone they had. and hoping some other people

may have slipped through the cracks, harris. >> harris: among the stories of confusion and nightmarish details and chaos, there are some stories of heroism tonight? >> yeah, there are. some nice things. you know? the buzz ward has been chaos and cowardace as well if you talk to the passengers. and blankets, the parish priest putting about a hundred in the church. and one story, argentinian woman telling her daughter couldn't walk, she's a pair plegic, one of the cabin boys carried her and the mother wasn't so lucky, they wouldn't let her in the life boat she had to jump, but they made it together and got back on the island. >> harris: greg burke, thank you very much. survivors are sharing stories,

rivalling stoers-- stories from the "titanic." and one couple tried to hand their child to her, they didn't think they'd make it out alive. and we're revealing stories from greg burke's report they felt they got little or no help. >> and when i turned around, after everybody was jumping off of that boat. there was not one crew member, it was just good samaritans helping people out of the life boats. >> harris: and again, that was on fox report last night we talked about robert on his honeymoon, while the investigation into what happened is ongoing. incredible stories like that now surfacing from those to lived through it, working more on that part of the story for us in our new york city news room isox correspondent, julie banderas. >> that's right, harris. passengers described the scene on board the ship as horrifying. chaotic and terribly unorganized. some crawled through hallways and ladders, and others leapt

overboard into the frigid sea as they tried to evacuate. many passengers were inside the restaurant having dinner at the time of the accident and say that waiters instructed them to remain seated even as it began listed. the chaos ensued, and separating women and children and men refused to be separated from their families. >> and i had to, i thought i was going to die. because nobody was saying anything to us, nobody-- it was just afraid. >> once aboard the life boats, passengers say the crew members weren't trained for an evacuate. one helms appeared to be unable to steer into life boat and banged into the ship, and

a passenger took over the lead. and the entire ordeal was sheer madness. >> the rescue was awful. it was very, very disorganized. we had not had our muster check, we did not know where to go. when we got to the side of the boat to board the rescue boats, they were full. it took us five tries on different boats to get on. my husband and i finally got on. and we feel fortunate. >> now, the state department says 125 americans in all were on board as you mentioned earlier. still two are unaccounted for and family members back here in the states are eagerly awaiting their return home, harris. >> harris: julie, thank you. now we move to iran, the showdown with the nuclear program, appears the iranian government is upping the ante, warning they better not up the

output if iranian oil is embargoed. a once two weeks. the iranian navy completing war games near the strait of hormuz. and an act that leon panetta would cross a red line and will not be tolerated. 1/6 of the oil is through that strait. >> and scheduled war games between the united states and israel have now been postponed until later this summer. but the pentagon denies the reason for the delays, fears over escalating tensions with iran. a planned trip by the head of the joint chiefs of staff is still on for next week. the pentagon is careful to point out that the trip has been long planned, but we also know that president obama has been on the phone in recent days with benjamin netanyahu, warning him of dire

ads. >> harris: no doubt. >> negative and super pac ads and candidate ads. >> harris: 150 state leaders made an endorsement and picked rick santorum. any idea how much of a boost he might get from that? >> well, definitely gotten a lot of buzz and with only five and a half campaign days left now. there's really, just, it's his last best opportunity and he's going to get some more momentum as the consequence of those endorsements and there's been larger insurgents crowds for mr. santorum and making the same play in new hampshire as well as in iowa conservatives need to recognize he's the real deal and not listen to pundits and pollsters. >> in south carolina, vote your conscience, vote your values, don't compromise, don't believe the pundits, don't believe -- what you believe in, pollsters show us that all of these key states are running polls and i'm doing as well if not governor

this is greece and other faulter euro zone nations need it and germany's help more than ever. yes, stocks fell friday as down grades were anticipated to hit that day, but the dow's drop was nothing compared to the wild swings that came last summer when the debt crisis traumatized the market. triggers knew this was just one ratings agency and germany, europe's strongest economy, was spared a downgrade. and remember, that the widely anticipated sale of treasuries, when s & p downgraded our debt last august, never materialized. investors kept buying, and, but for the short-term, the marketses closed monday for martin luther king day, have plenty to do besides respond to a secret that was a headline long before it became official news. next week, fourth quarter earnings season kicks into high gear and citigroup, bank of america, apple and google open their books.

that the crew members did not help they will. they did not know what to do. tonight the captain facing manslaughter charges, and the company saying it seems he made errors in judgment. and divers continuing the search, and satisfying there's no visibility around the murky, saying that everything that can float is floating, making their mission to find any more survivors or victims much more difficult, but those who are safe tonight are quite thankful and now they're telling their stories as they live through what happened two nights ago. >> we were told that the electrical system were failing and first told not to panic. >> and the lights, under control, we're currently in a blackout and our technicians are working to resolve the situation. >> and there wasn't enough room on the boat for us and they were coming back to get us and sinking more and more on the side. and we made the decision at

that point we had to get off. >> and i'm-- dependent real highs this is actually happening right now. and this will hit me later. and there's still people on there. >> and the rescue boats, they were full and took us five tries on different boats to get on and my husband and i finally got on and we feel so fortunate, we feel so fortunate that we made it on a boat because others didn't. and we feel fortune. >> fortunate and no doubt they'll never forget. we're joined on the phone by one of the survivors. he's from argentina, a passenger on the boat. you're with us by phone, yes, yes, i'm here. >> harris: i understand as you were trying to get off that ship you were forced to help other people and they were forced to help you. what was happening? >> yeah, it was-- we helped each other, it was because the crew didn't do

anything, no experience. they disappeared and didn't see any officer, just the normal waitress from the restaurant, you know? >> and who were you travelling with? >> i was travelling with my mom, my two brothers and one of her, one of his, my brother's girlfriend. so, we were there with my brother, we start helping the people to get on the ships, because no one helped from the crew, obviously. and the people, some people screaming and all of those things and we started getting on the ship to them. the only good thing i remember from this tragedy, when i got on the coast and the people came to me and take me, told me, told me thank you, thank you, thank you very much for help, what you need to save my life. i don't remember the face, but the greatest thing that happened, the only thing, because the tragedy, a nightmare. >> harris: yeah, at least an a silver lining in the fact that you guys were together. we're watching video, before

we let you go. it seemed that the boat filled up with water rather quickly. >> well, when we're having dinner the boat went to the left and then after we hit the rock, the boat was to the right and we started running to the boats, but they don't let us get in. only say that it was a problem from the electricity problem. and it's going to be solved. but, nothing. it was the light-- at the last minute it was a light, an electrical problem, obviously a lie and you know the worst part? no english or spanish until the last moment. only italian and for the people that don't speak italian. >> do you speak italian. >> only a little bitment only speak a little bit and more english and spanish, that's all i know. >> harris: maybe they were giving you instructions, but you wouldn't have understood it because you didn't understand the language. stefano, we're glad that you could join us tonight and that you and your family members are safe.

they were escorting procession for the military man. and a man and her six-year-old, a grandmother and another six-year-old boy were pulled out with less severe injuries. and missouri, if you build it, they will come back. after a summer without baseball, joplin's little league able to come back to the field. last year's twister destroyed just about everything. >> we've got plans and what we want to make it back to the park that it was before. >> harris: some people in kansas city donating all the money and supplies right down to home plate. florida, a different kind of therapy for some wounded warriors. the veterans all spending quality times with dolphins at a research center in key west. we're told hanging with

dolphins getting used to. >> a little nervous, i didn't know what i was getting into, touching it and things like that, but they're, they're very friendly and i mean, a minute. >> harris: the dolphin swim was the highlight of the three-day, 150 mile cycling event from miami to the florida keys. washington, a baby sea otter quickly becoming the most popular attraction at the aquarium. the mama closing it close, and so close in fact, doctors don't know its gender yet. high drama way up north. the port of nome alaska surrounded by ice. that's not news, but this is. and in alaska, they have ice there. the city now of nome suffering from a lack of fuel. it's been a brutal winter they say and after weeks of watching and waiting for ships to come in, now there's an

big role in this as well. our casey stegall a live and warm i hope in the west coast news hub, casey? >> talk about a voyage, the ship left russia by the way in the middle of december and picked up diesel in south korea and making his way about 300 miles through the ice of the bering sea, ever since, all of this of course with the help of the u.s. coast guard cutter healy. just for perspective. take a look at the map. nome alaska is very, very small, only about 3500 people or so way up there on the northwestern part of alaska. it missed its pre-winter delivery of fuel after a storm swept through months ago. now we should tell you tonight that the tanker and the cutter are situated less than a half mile off the coast of nome and crews are ready to begin piecing together a huge segmented pipe that will actually lay on top of the ice

and transfer 1.3 million gallons of fuel to the lahr bore. the u.s. coast guard telling the fox news channel they had to wait it out to make sure that the disturbed ice had refrozen and making it safe for the crews. once the hose is down and fuel is flowing, personnel will walk its length every 30 minutes or so to ensure that there are no leaks. and each segment has its own spill containment area as a precaution and the this enter transfer can take from 36 hours to five days and to say this this fuel is needed bad may just be an understatement. it's been a brutal winter in alaska, temperatures dipping to minus 60 degrees in part and nome's next opportunity for a fuel transfer wouldn't come until spring, harris. >> harris: wow, it is alaska. the rest of the story. >> reporter: it is. >> harris: casey will be hitting the beach tomorrow. he's in southern california. >> reporter: don't tell people.
