>> bill: juan williams suddenly controversial again. and again, it has to do with money. how you should republicans deal with the poor? juan will be here. >> we are not the greatest generation. we are the greatingest generation. >> and dennis miller with a few thoughts on president obama going to disney world. >> he's coming. hide. >> bill: can it get any better for miller? >> is he kidding me? >> bill: also tonight, glen beck on the presidential field. caution, you are about to enter the no spin zone. the factor begins right now. ♪ >> bill: hi, i'm bill o'reilly. thanks for watching us tonight. mitt romney in trouble over money. that is the subject of this evening's talking points memo. not a good week for governor romney so far. rather flat in monday's debate. the new survey taken yesterday

romney have it on fox and friends. >> you say he doesn't understand what american people go through? >> no, but to refer to 300 some thousand dollars as a few extra bucks to me is -- $300,000 is a few extra bucks to me. >> but it is to romney. how should we process this. in the father of our country george, washington, was worth 525 million bucks in today's currency. teddy roosevelt worth $125 million. the kennedy family wait for it worth about a billion dollars. jfk lived entirely off his trust fund. john kerry worth about $300 million when ran for president in 2004. many who go into public service are rich folk. you can decide if mitt romney is insensitive. consider this.
5:04 pm
the capitalistic system in this country is based on freedom. freedom to earn as much as you can provided you do it honestly. do some americans have unfair advantages? of course, they do. and some folks don't like that, demanding more income equality from the frippet pric free ente system. the more the feds try to create so called social justice the more debt piles up leaving to outcries of tax the rich further. as we pointed out monday, the top 1% in this country now pay 37% of the total income tax yet the president believes that is not their fair share. he and the democratic party want even more. mitt romney has been far too passive in the face of personal attacks on his wealth. he should release his tax returns and vigorously defend the system that has enriched him. if he doesn't, he will not become president. and that's the memo. now, for the top stories

tonight. reaction. joining us from washington, the director of th the watch divis. let's go with romney first. i mean there is no difference between mitt romney and jfk, the ken day family, no difference, correct? >> the question here is what policies is romney actually supporting? i think where he is going to get into trouble is not how much money he has but how much money he is contributed to the country in taxes and that 15% rate is a lot lower than most americans actually pay is what ising. isgoing to get him caught. >> do you know what the 15% rate is all about and understand that? >> it is about his capital gains. >> ordinary income in romney's tax bracket taxed at 35%. he already got taxed 35% on his investment money. it has already been paid. then he invests it and gets more money from the investment in which he pays another 15% on top of the 35 of anything that

5:07 pm
until we understand exactly what it is. you see my point here about mitt romney. paid his fair share, 35% on the money he made in the work force. he got out of the work force and living on his investments and paying another 15% on top of the 35. 1% pay 37% of the income and you are going to sit there and tell me i'm not paying my fair share? come on. >> i think you are mistaken about mitt romney. he is actually exploiting a tax loophole in paying only 15%. he didn't pay 35% on his original income. he got to treat ordinary income which most people would pay a regular tax rate on as capital gains. >> bill: did he do anything illegal? >> this gets to the point that -- >> bill: yes, or no? did he do anything illegal? >> i don't know, he might have. >> bill: he did not do anything illegal because he has been vetted by the kennedy people when ran for senator up in massachusetts. he did not. number two, he did pay 35% on his salary from bain.

5:14 pm
recently said black americans should demand jobs, not food stamps. you also said poor kids lack a strong work ethic and propose having them work as janitors in their schools. can't you see this is viewed at a minimum as insulting to all americans but particularly to americans? black americans. >> no. i don't see that. >> bill: all right. with us now mr. controversy juan williams. he didn't see it because he says that it's true. that in a lot of the inner city situations, a lot of the poor run down schools there is not a strong work ethic and his proposal is to allow children to earn money while they are in school by doing tasks around the school. do you think he is off on that? >> he is wrong. i mean, if he wants to have an honest debate. if he wants to discuss it, then let's look at the reality. when you see that jobs are offered to young people in this country, you have lines around the block.
5:15 pm
he wants more jobs to be offered. >> he didn't say that bill work ethic, he was suggests thee kids don't want to work. >> bill: i'm not going to speak for gingrich. my job isn't to stick up for him. from what i understood his proposal was to fund jobs within the school, all right? within the school, public schools for kids to clean the schools up, help the janitor services, okay? i think he was pretty explicit about that. >> i don't think so. i think that's a great idea. if he wants to fund jobs. he didn't say i propose funding jobs. >> bill: juan, that's exactly what he said. new york city janitors paid too much they are in the unions. have 12 kids getting the same amount of money that one guy gets doing stuff in school, cam on, juan. that's what he says. >> fire the janitors, have the kids do it and that's how he plans. he didn't say i want to fund jobs to create jobs.
5:16 pm
instead what he said was poor kids lack a good work ethic. >> okay. but he didn't say it was the kids' fault. he said they don't see it at home in a lot of circumstances. that home is a welfare situation. single mother situation. single mother situation so they don't grow up under that umbrella and that the school system has got to begin teaching the value of work. that is his point. >> that is not a bad point if that is the point and what he wants to say, i think he will get agreement. he will get agreement from every corner. h you are an analyst. do you think newt gingrich wanted to belittle african-american children? >> i think he wanted to play racial politics at that moment. when he says if he was president and he was speaking racial politics. if he was speaking to the naacp he would say instead of
5:17 pm
demanding food stamps, demand jobs. was he thinking there are marchs out there for black people or any minorities for food stamps. in that is ridiculous. >> you think he was pandering carolina by this kind of rhetoric? >> without a doubt. i think what he did and you notice the response from the audience. >> bill: entitlements. >> who does? >> bill: that's why you got the response. >> no, no, no. he got the response no, he doesn't care if it was incentive or belittling that he is stating his position. >> but is he saying it wasn't that. >> bill: he is saying it wasn't that. he wasn't. >> he can say, listen. >> bill: he can say what he wants. i'm speaking here about x, y, z. i understand we have been in a position. gone up under president bush. instead he is talking about president obama has food stamp president. >> you made your point, he made his point. you know who this guy chris matthews is, do you know him? >> sure.
5:18 pm
>> bill: okay. he said the way he called you yuan, that gingrich called you juan, was kind of racist. did you take it that way? >> you know, remember, i'm facing the cameras when i'm up there on othe panel so i heard behind me the minute he went, juan,. >> bill: he was exasperated. >> the way it played in the auditorium. >> bill: again, you think that. >> the minute i heard behind me that the hoot and hollering then i understood the way it played to the audience. this is a strange character, this juan is a strange character. >> bill: you are a strange character. be truthful. >> you and i have a relationship. truthful. >> you and i have a relationship. >> bill: how many times have i over the years juan. >> totally different in that setting where he was -- >> bill: do you think he wanted dunder head. to demean you? >> no, i think he wanted to stir that audience in that moment and he succeeded. >> bill: juan.

italy. at lease donte's inferno. i don't know where this guy ends up. >> bill: i think he is going to get convicted of manslaughter in italy. i don't know how much time you get for that over there, probably two and a half months. but i think that he is going. >> well, you know he what they do new pesh in ship shank. i hope it happens to them. cruise travel is starting to look shaky to me. if i want to explore foreign waters i suggest you just swim there because the boats are getting a little shaky at this point. >> bill: timely miller's a football expert as you well know. two big games this weekend. new york giants and san francisco and baltimore ravens at new england. and who are you picking? >> well, listen, i love all these teams but i grew up in pittsburgh so physical always sells with me. i would like to see, listen, i love brady, too, but i think baltimore more physical than that one. >> bill: you are picking baltimore over new england?

just because i don't know ray lewis. >> bill: i'm going to take some of that action. are you ready to go for that on a dinner. >> sure, i will bet a dinner. if you can get a free night for all your dick morris dinners. >> bill: dick morris never pays i will make you pay. san francisco and nancy pelosi i understand is going to be one of the cheerleaders for the niners? did you hear that? [screams] >> bill: that will spur the team on. oh my god, san francisco versus the gents. i have got to go san francisco. hard ball vs. hard ball in the super bowl. we haven't seen a brother act like that cain vs.ably except eve was wearing more clothes than the cheerleaders do. >> bill: everybody understands i have got the pats and he has the ravens on sunday. miller, thank you very much. and d man would like to thank everyone. coming to see both of us in santa barbara, california. saturday, february 25th. 4,000 tickets were up. just a few tickets remain. you can see us but you have

>> bill: back of the book segment tonight, did you see that? we begin with a cartoon put out by political action committee supporting newt gingrich. >> let me be clear, i agree with governor romney on many things. for instance, abortion. he was pro-choice most of his adult life. so was i. but he changed his position when he became presidential
5:50 pm
candidate romney. >> hold on. >> now, let's take guns. now, governor romney and i, we were in complete agreement on gun control. now, that is until he changed his mind. >> but i -- >> i agreed with governor romney on many things but this presidential candidate romney, i don't even know the guy. then again, he doesn't seem to know himself. >> oh, come on. >> bill: all right. not a bad satire. >> very funny. >> bill: fox news correspondent juliet huddy. >> william. >> bill: i don't mind those kinds of things because they are satirical, fairly clever. people will pay attention. the message is an old message. >> rehashing the same old thing. all these attacks are palatable when they're delivered in cartoon form. romney flip-flops on his position, doesn't have much to say as you can see there. didn't really respond except for, whoa. generating buzz. nothing out of control.
5:51 pm
>> bill: gingrich is coming up, up 16 points in the national poll. >> romney may have to speak up in these debates a little bit more, don't you think? >> bill: i have to say i thought it this was going to be a cruise week for romney. after monday, he he has got, to tomorrow night, thursday night romney has got to come out roaring and defending himself or gingrich is going to win that primary. >> bill: rising above it all fray thing not working. >> not working. >> bill: in the debate this was something that i caught because i support this charity best friends run by elaine bennett out of washington, d.c. it's basically a mentoring charity. they take at risk kids and they give them mentors so to try to get them through school and keep them away from bad stuff. well, that came up in the debate. go. >> elaine bennett runs a program called best friends, the wife of bill bennett. and she told me through bill, the obama administration now has regulations that tells them that they can no longer
5:52 pm
promote marriage to these young girls. they can no longer promote marriage as a way of avoiding poverty and bad choices that they make in their life. they can no longer actually even teach abstinence education they have to be neutral with respect to how people behave. the problem is neutrality ends in poverty. neutrality ends in choices that hurt people's lives. >> we asked ms. huddy to do fact check on it and is it true? what's going on? >> it's sort of true. i mean, obviously the bloggers, you pick up on everything that is said. every word that's uttered. essentially what he did that was wrong was he said marriage is not being allowed to be taught or talked about in these programs, best friend program for instance. that is not true. it's still allowed to be talked about. abstinence, talking about sexual content that type of thing as far as when you get federal funds to a program like best friends, then you can't talk about it new thing
5:53 pm
that happened in 2006. >> bill: all right. so best friends gets a federal grant, okay? >> for their healthy marriage program. >> bill: what a philanthropist you are. >> bill: i want to do this because i want people to check it out and give money to them. they do good work. it's not about me. it's about the kids. the government basically told the charity, best friends, you can't promote abstinence. you can't tell these kids. >> exactly. >> bill: tell these kids don't have sex. >> don't talk about sexual content. stop promoting marriage. it's fine. >> bill: better to be married when you have a child because if you are not you are more likely to be poor. they can say that? >> and many other things about marriage as well. >> bill: thank you very much. we appreciate it. >> it was my pleasure. >> bill: starring chris christie going after critics of his weight. don't miss this one. p and p just two minutes and change away.
