prices are ticking up every single day elsewhere. fox business network's stu varney joins us with the forecast for the days and weeks ahead. stu, you've been warning about this and boy, we've seen such a jump just in the past days and weeks in many of our major u.s. cities. >> reporter: yes, there has an sudden surge in the price of gasoline and it is happening right now. give you a couple of examples: in cincinnati, the price of regular unleaded has gone up 17 cents a gallon in the past week. in los angeles, it is up 20 cents a gallon in one week. -- one week. that wencery are paying the highest price for gasoline ever, in the month of february. and in california, the average of all stations is now 4.03 for a gallon of regular unleaded. the moral of the story, megyn, is buy it today, because it is going to get more expensive tomorrow. look the a the price of oil, $105 a barrel today. that much higher price not yet filtering down to the front so buy it today,
10:02 am
because tomorrow, it will be more expensive. megyn: why? why do we say it will be more expensive tomorrow? >> because the current price of oil as of right now, it's 105.15 a barrel. that's up more than $2 from the price on friday. which itself is very high price. that price of crude is not yet reflected at the pump. we're not seeing the pump price yet reflect that spike in crude. when it does, pump prices go up even more. probably by 20-25 cents a gallon in the next month, month and a half. megyn: is this all because of iran? because you know, i look at, so they cut off great britain and france from oil supplies but great britain and france have already iran told -- had already told iran they were going cut it off, it was like last week, can't fire me, i fired you first, but look at the percentage of exports from iran, how much is actually going to great britain fransd? you know how much it is stu? it's like nothing. 1 percent goes to the u.k.,
10:03 am
2 percent to france. that's not a big number for iran in terms of what it's lose. brad: that is true but what we're close to is a complete cutoff of all iranian oil exports, that would take well over 2 million barrels of oil a day off the world market. take off the supply by that much, demand remains constant and up goes the price. secondly, the safers are -- sabers are being rattled around the persian gulf and there's always that feeling that maybe there will be a military attack, a military incident of some sort which could restrict the supply of oil even more. so what's goingnon iran, in and around iran, that's taking oil off the market and pushing up pump prices here. there's a direct relationship between the two. megyn: in other words, we've got a situation where we either up the sanctions on iran, considerably, and we have been doing that along with our european allies or at least trying to and ma makes people nervous because we're talking about cutting off oil exports and what have you, and on the other
10:04 am
hand the world is worried about israel striking iran's nuclear facility and what iran would do in response to that and that too will drive up oil prices so either way, we are looking at an ongoing gliek strictly in terms of the pump price and the american consumer, it's a lose/lose situation, prices are going up rapidly, they'll go up again tomorrow. megyn: stu, thank you. we want to put this into perspective for you. every state in the u.s. averaging more than $3 for a gallon of regular gasoline right now, 23 states have already topped 3.50 a gallon. the national average is predicted to climb another 75 cents. according to oil price information service, last year alone, american families spent an estimated $4155 on gasoline. so is president obama doing enough right now to head off this gas price panic? and with all of this going on, was it the right choice to reject the keystone xl oil pipeline? both sides to debate this just a bit later right here.

temperatures are parts of the pacific northwest down into portions of california, and that's just slightly below average. we're still going to see shots here and there of cold weather and mentioned the new system we're tracking across the center of the nation. i want to point out that other storm system that brought up to 9 inches of snow across southern portions of west virginia is now out to sea, looking at much more tranquil weather out here. however you're going to have to drive carefully because of that snow melt during the daytime hours, it refreezes as those temperatures get below freezing, so you're looking at black ice as an issue across parts of virginia and also kentucky. otherwise that storm system right now across the center of the country bringing in heavier snow across colorado, also up into nebraska and across the dakotas and we're expecting accumulations that are generally pretty light, but the big issue is the amount of wind we're seeing across the southern half of the storm system. there's a blizzard warning across colorado, and wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, so 2-4 inches of snow,
