this, and i'm quoting here: now feel death not just mocking you, not just stalking you but inside of you. wriggle and writhe. feel smaller beneath my might. seizure in the pest lance that is my scythe. he ends it by saying, die, all of you. the shooter reportedly also posted on twitter three pictures of himself. in the first picture he's carrying a knife. in the second picture, he has two guns pointed at the camera, and the third picture simply has a card with the date that says 2/26 clash 12. the name of the high school is blanked out. listen, now, to the sheriff. >> we have a handgun involved and, again, we came down here, we knew you were waiting and looking for information, so many of the questions that you might ask we're getting information as we speak. >> reporter: there are reports by student witnesses, megyn, that the shooter actually chased

one of the students down the hall, and a report just coming out saying they believe a teacher is the one who actually chased the shooter outside of the school grounds where police arrested him. megyn: trace, thank you. this tragic story's very fluid with new information pouring in by the moment. in less than 30 minutes, we will go live outside one of the hospitals where some of the students were transported. we have a reporter live on the scene to help us understand how these students were targeted and how they're doing. we will also be joined by dr. keith ablow just a bit later to take us into the mind of shooters in these situations and of this particular shooter as we understand his identity at least at this hour based on those internet postings trace told usover. and we will also be joined by a school security expert who will try to tell us how to coach your child. you have to send your child to school worrying about math and

international community's ever faced during this more than ten-year war. the u.n. announced today it is relocating some of its international workers because of fear from attack. this comes on today's attack in which nine afghans were killed, 25 injured when the taliban set off a massive car bomb outside the forward operating base fenti which is the military side of the airport in jalalabad, eastern afghanistan, a large military contingent and a lot of civilian contractors. it is a prime target for the taliban, and that's just why they went after them. now, new information on the hunt for the afghan police officer who shot the two u.s. soldiers on saturday, the suspect is a 25-year-old police officer who reportedly said he was in pakistan before coming a police officer here in kabul. the u.s. military says he is still at large, but the afghans have arrested several family members of his trying to hunt him down. this entire week of violence has

dramatically called into question the entire strategy here in afghanistan. the strategy here centers around u.s. and international troops training afghans, especially in small numbers as the overall u.s. and international force draws down over the next two years here. it specializes on u.s. trainers here. general john allen has moved those trainers out of the ministries here this in kabul, the u.n. has moved some of its workers out, the international community has their employees on lockdown because there is such fear and anger and distrust between the communities right now it's not clear if this mission can go forward. big questions, megyn, about how this war will ultimately wrap up over the next few weeks. megyn: thank you very much. well, as the violence continues in afghanistan, we're also learning more about the u.s. service hebbs who were killed in the wake of -- service members who were killed in the wake of these quran burnings. t.j. conrad of virginia was one

interacting with kids in an afghan village. he was part of a u.s. team skilled in local language and customs, and now there are so many questions surrounding this story. did we do the right thing by apologizing at the highest level, the president apologizing for the burning of those qurans which, of course, as you heard, was done we are told -- they're still investigating this -- as a means of eliminating a book, books that were being used to pass jihadist messages. did we do the right thing, and has this now brought a bigger message about what's going on in afghanistan? we'll be joined by two top military generals in our next hour who have some strong thoughts on this. well, tomorrow is a critical day in the gop primaries as voters cast ballots in and michigan. nationally the polls pretty tight, 31% saying they're picking mitt romney for the

nomination, that's according to the latest gallup poll, and 29% for rick santorum. some say the brutal attacks among the gop candidates are finally taking a toll. mike tobin is live in birmingham, michigan, watching the attacks in the ad wars. hey, mike. >> reporter: hello, megyn. there's a degree to which the major points are getting to be a little obvious in michigan. most important points in this race right now are jobs and the economy. it's also obvious that mitt romney is hearing the footsteps of rick santorum. at one point, at least, he framed himself up as the underdog, and he takes shots at santorum whenever he can. >> senator santorum's a nice guy, but he's never had a job in the private sector. he's worked as a lobbyist and an elected official, that's fine. but if issue of the day is the economy, i think to create jobs it helps to have a guy as president who's had a job, and i have. >> reporter: so the stakes are big in what is otherwise a

normally sleepy primary. mitt romney does not want to lose his home state. that could cost him a lot of momentum. santorum would like very much to use this as an opportunity to once and for all remove that perception that mitt romney is the presumptive nominee. megyn? megyn: mike tobin, thank you. well, rick santorum today published what he called his ten-point plan for economic freedom. what does he want to change, and how does his plan differ from his rivals'? lou dobbs with an eye-opening report after this break. plus, caught on tape, the moment a crazed commuter shoves a woman onto the subway tracks. what quick-thinking bystanders did to save her life. and a first for iran, an oscar win for best foreign film. wait until you see how iranian leaders are responding. megyn: well, former pennsylvania senator rick santorum today presenting his plan to salvage the troubled u.s. economy. santorum publishing his ten-point proposal for, quote, economic freedom in "the wall street journal" saying the u.s. budget process is broken. so what exactly is he hoping to change, and how are his ten points any different from his rivals'? lou dobbs, host of lou dobbs tonight. it's ten, it's not 57 -- >> that's an improvement. megyn: you can read it a little faster, it's only two page r -- pages, but is there anything new, big or bold in here? >> there's not anything new, and in fairness to senator santorum, then of these candidates is espousing anything particularly new or bold with the exception
10:16 am
of newt gingrich who is trying to advance at least the public policy discussion, i think, in a number of areas. but as to rick santorum, in talking about reducing spending by $5 trillion, that's important. it's not sufficient. in talking about getting rid of fannie mae and freddie mac, it's incomplete thinking. by the way, again, he's not alone in that. a number of candidates are just sort of automatically arbitrarily, each capriciously -- even capriciously saying let's get rid of fannie mae and freddie mac forgetting they put up 50 percent of the money in the housing market. whatever we do with them, we should do incrementally and with some prudence and understanding as to what the impact will be. megyn: he says he'll phase them out over several years. he does say it's going to take a while. i thought there were a couple of interesting points that jumped

out at me. you tell me whether this is new, allowing people whose mortgages are underwater to deduct the losses from the sale of their home, so it's a tax writeoff now, the loss, if you're underwater? >> helping that person who whose mortgage is underwater is not new, this idea's been advanced, i give the senator credit for that. megyn: how about corporate tax rate being cut in half to a of half rate of 17.5. that's lower than romney wants it. >> yeah. and, unfortunately, it's not lower than the effective rate corporate america is paying -- megyn: once they have all their writeoffs. we tax them at 35 president, but they have these writeoffs. >> so you're trying to reduce to what? you don't given at 28 or 25 or whatever the thurm is. you've got to, i think, be straightforward about it and say we're not going to tax you, or we're going to tax you at a level that means business.
10:18 am
megyn: what about he says we'll only have two income tax rates, 10% and 28%. >> that, again, has been advanced a number of times. it's effectively a flat tax which has been, you know, we can go back to our friend steve forbes and start looking at serious advocacy -- megyn: most of the people then say they're going to eliminate all the deductions you get up there, but he seems to be saying some people, i guess, he doesn't outline it in the journal piece but, yes, we'll eliminate some deductions, but he's going to trip and double other ones. he's going to get rid of the marriage tax penalty. is that good or bad? >> the idea behind it is good and, as you know, he puts that under the rubric of supporting and defending the american family which i think is critically important be societally, economically in the defense of the nation. but the problem with it is is it doesn't go far enough, nor does it get to the real issue of supporting the family. the number one reason for divorce in this country is

finance. what we've got to do is tie clearly and unequivocally the well being of american families to the creation of jobs, creation of wealth. megyn: but you agree with the personal, tripling the personal deduction for children? that's controversial. some have said that's another government handout, and some have said it's an incentive to some families to have children for tax deduction. >> if i would offer, if i may offer senator santorum another proposal that would be, in my opinion, more supportive of the family, and that would be to provide a tax break or a tax incentive to couples who stay married. for every year get an additional, you know, writeoff, a deduction or tax credit. megyn: i like that. you pay a penalty if you get a divorce. >> i can speak from experience, there are penalties to divorce. [laughter] and there are great rewards to a long marriage. i've been married for over 30 years. but we should be as a society putting very clearly a stamp of approval on those things that we

megyn: fox news alert, we are just now getting word that a christian pastor sentenced to death in iran is still alive. the 34-year-old was arrested more than two years ago, sentenced to death by hanging for converting from islam, and then he refused to renounce his christianity. we are getting these reports from the american center for law and justice. they have been trying to draw attention to this case to save this man's life. jay allen seculo you know from this program is chief counsel for that group, and you guy cans have been doing yeoman's work on this, jay. as of today, he is still alive but we don't know how much longer that's going to last. >> that's right. we got word on that this morning. talk about doing a good job. i want to thank fox news and
10:46 am
you, megyn, and the team at fox news. so many of the broadcasts have carried this story, and this is the reason this pastor's alive. in fact, last week when we were really aggressively promoting the fact that the execution order, it appeared, had been issued by the province court, the iranian government after the report we put forward and including reports from our own government, state department and the president issued a denial saying we have not sentenced him to death, we're, you know, we're charging him with crimes as bizarre as being a zionist spy. but as you know, we have the actual documents from the iranian court. he was charged, as you said, with apostte si, and that's what his conviction's for. he was charged and convicted because of his christian faith. they've given him three chances to recant his faith. in fact, last time they said just said mohamed is the prophet of god, this pastor said i can't do that, it violates my conscious. and now we're getting global support. again, i'm calling this media
10:47 am
advocacy, we're advocating for him in the media. that's what's keeping iran at least in line temporarily. the last case that reported hi had this significance, and this is unfortunate, ended with the actual pastor being hung in the early '90s, and the death warrant and the body of the pastor came at the same time. we're flying to avoid that now that we've -- trying to avoid that now that we've got not only media, but lawyers on the ground, we're working it globally. megyn: it hasn't been fox, it's been you guys. but let's get to where we stand now because we have a situation where our secretary of state, 89 members of congress, the european union, great britain, france, mexico, germany, they've all con condemned the government, but they are saying this is turning into a political matter given the sanctions ramping up on iran, and they may use those sanctions as an excuse to end this man's life early and without any negotiation. jay, i want to ask you to give us the big picture on this because our viewers may remember it was just last month that we, the american people, our
10:48 am
military saved 19 iranians from these pirates. and we saw those pictures -- >> twice, we've done it. megyn: twice! so one 13, one six. is in the thank you we get? they're going to execute this guy for being a christian, that's it? >> yeah. one of their own. they're trying to turn this into -- you bring up a very important point, megyn, they're trying to bring this to a political point, the sanctions, the pressure that's coming now between the israelis and the iranians. what we have to do is focus this on the fact that this is a human rights case. the political issues aren't going to go away with or without this pastor. but this pastor's been wrongly convicted, and the iranian regime has steined on to -- although they're not abiding by -- u.n. declarations. they are violating those including the universal declaration of human rights including accepting a new faith. this pastor, by the way, never was practicing islam although they charged him, as you said,
10:49 am
with apostasy. they're trying to turn this into a political issue, and that's why the statements coming out of the president and the secretary of state have been important. we're looking far joint resolution that could be -- for a joint resolution that could be voted on by wednesday with huge bipartisan support. you've got democrats and republicans, so this has got wide bipartisan support. but at the end of the day, you're right. the iranian regime is trying to turn this into part of a bargaining chip with the sanctions, and we're not going to let it happen. >> what is his background? >> he grew up in a home that the family was marginally muslim, if you will. he never embraced islam which you do at age, like in judaism at age 13 you're bar mitzvahed. he did not, he became a christian and eventually became a pastor, and that's what they're aiming at -- megyn: how does that happen in iran? >> you know, there are missionaries that have been there, and christianity has a
10:50 am
long history in iran, as does judaism. pre the iranian revolution, there was a vibrant community. obviously, that's changed, and the regime doesn't like that it's growing because it's a radical islamic regime -- megyn: why aren't -- if it's apostsi just to be a christian there, then why aren't they all sentenced to death? >> here's the unfortunate news. we're talking about the pastor, but there's literally hundreds, thousands of christians in jail in iran for practicing their faith. he's the face you see right now, but megyn, you hit it right on the head. this is an ongoing problem because they view christianity as a political threat to them which it's not at all. but that's how they view it. and thinking that's a threat to them becomes part of a targeted campaign here targeting execution. but there are thousands of christians in jail in iran, and you don't hear about them. megyn: unbelievable. go to the aclj's web site to call attention to this.
10:51 am
thank you so much, jay. coming up right here, we have some incredible pictures in today of a horrifying moment caught on tape showing a woman pushed onto the subway tracks with the train bearing down. that's next.

megyn: well, you're about to see some disturbing surveillance tape. a commuter pushing a woman onto the train tracks in london. closed circuit tv capturing these shocking images. the woman survives after missing the electrified rail by only inches. trace gallagher has more on this one. >> reporter: i've just never seen anything like it. this one is wild. the woman, 23 years old, apparently struck up a conversation with the suspect while they were on the platform, and the witnesses said they somehow got into an argument about the man's hat. you're going to see here as we roll the video the woman starts
10:55 am
walking toward the camera, down the platform. and now watch this, she's walking toward the camera, and here she is -- away there the camera, rather. watch the man come out of nowhere and, bam, violently pushes her down on the tracks. you see her on the right-hand side, and one of her friends tries to tackle the suspect, other witnesses are both helping her and trying to get the suspect tied down. somehow he got away, megyn. now we're going to slow the whole thing down for you. he pushes her down, she barely misses the electrical track which could have killed her, then the oncoming train was only seconds away. she was able to get up. the injuries to her side or -- were so bad that witnesses thought she'd been stabbed before she was push inside there. it wasn't that. she hit the ground so hard, that's what hurt her side. after all that, the suspect was able to get away, and the reason police are showing this again -- it happened three months ago -- is because they have no clues as to who he is or where he is.
10:56 am
there he is right there. take a look. if you though him, police would desperately love some information. again, it happened in london, and they're still looking for this guy. the woman has since recovered but very close to being a big tragedy on a train station in london. megyn: wow. if there's any silver lining, it's the quick reaction of those passers by who came to her rescue, something we're always quick to point out when they don't. we should be just as quick when they do. trace, thanks. >> reporter: okay. megyn: wow. why would a 17-year-old come to school on a monday, walk down to the cafeteria and open fire on class mates or what we believe were his class mates? we're hoping to have some new answers for you in our next hour along with some tips on how to train a student not to be a victim in these kinds of incidents. and it's a holiday cruise that cost more than anyone bargained for. why a gunpoint robbery at a popular tourist port could mean problems for the beleaguered cruise industry? and a presidential apology falling on deaf ears in

for grabs. massachusetts is one of them, that of course is where mitt romney served as governor. chris stirewalt is host of "power play" on foxnews.com. these are big, big states tomorrow. a fair amount of delegates upper to grabs. but the prize. the big contest, is a week from tomorrow. >> that right. super tuesday. only 5% of the delegates in the republican process have been spoken for. but about it end of march, by the end of the coming months more than half of them will have been spoken for. so things start happening very fast starting tomorrow. we have been through a 2-month warmup. now it gets very fast and the stakes gets very high. if you are not mitt romney and what you need coming out of this week if you are not a
11:04 am
presumptive front runner who is well funded with a national organization. you need the big mo coming out of tomorrow's election so you can go into the super tuesday states and add the consequences and the hill gets much steeper. megyn: even though we are on talking about handful of delegates. wins matter. just ask rick santorum who at the beginning of february was nowhere near the front runner and winds up winning colorado, minnesota and so on. then he catapults to the top of the national leaderboard which by the way even though he's behind web's still atop the leaderboard on by a little bit. but he's still at the top, 33% to mitt romney 29% and change. so wins matter. if he doesn't win michigan or arizona, hurts him a little bit going into super tuesday arguably. >> it looks bad in arizona.
11:05 am
a lot of libertarian minded folks in arizona. not the santorum brands. michigan is a place where he can do well. even if he loses, what he needs up there -- they apportion their delegates on the basis of congressional district. if he wins 6 or 7 of those congressional districts, even if he loses the popular vote and is way ahead of newt gingrich, he goes into super tuesday and says if you don't want to vote for mitt romney, i'm still the leading contender. i'm sometime the guy, and he can hope to go into ohio which will be the big headline on super tuesday and say's the blue collar heartland kind of guy. megyn: he's the "not romney." now it seems to be down to those two who is the "not romney." you mentioned gingrich. we have santorum up top. romney second.
11:06 am
gingrich is third. he's substantially behind. santorum has more than double what he has. then ron paul has been hanging steadily around 12%. you seguin grip of may not be out of this, depending on what happens the next 8 days. >> where we were before the south carolina primary, that was switched. newt gingrich was way ahead and rick santorum was down in the second tier with ron paul. there was a big spread and gingrich was saying he was the guy. rick santorum has said he's the guy. he's the "not romney" on top. what newt gingrich is hoping he can do is pull out the caucus they are having in state. then on super tuesday be mr. southern win down in georgia and oklahoma and make this case that maybe all four of them need to go to the convention and fight it out there. megyn: is there anyway we are going to know hot gop nominee is
11:07 am
a week from tomorrow? >> probably not. but we'll sure know a lot. if mitt romney has a good night tomorrow and next week we'll be closer to being able to say so. if rick santorum does things will remain wide open. megyn: fox news is your number one source for election news. that will be starting at 6:00 p.m. eastern with bret baier. then i'll be joining him and we'll have our special election coverage as we have throughout this presidential primary contest. we hope you join us tomorrow night at 6:00. there are serious questions being asked about our security interests after a group of hackers stole millions of sensitive emails with a company that does business with the intelligence community. they stroll the emails from the

afghanistan. in their decade in afghanistan, the soviets actually made more progress than we have. and what we saw in this week of crazy keadly demonstrations -- deadly demonstrations was the realization of how little effect we have had, how little our sacrifices have changed afghan society. how we are not wanted. they are not going to become good americans it's a broken, primitive, savage society and not worth another drop of american blood. megyn: general, you look at this, and americans ask with all we have done over there, then some of our troops burn the holy books, but there is no appreciation for everything else we have done, we are judge bid this single incident? >> i have to agree with virtually everything ralph said.
11:18 am
the fact is, my concern when the president apologized so quickly, it gives the opinion to the afghans in the streets that the u.s. did this on purpose, that's why the president of the united states apologized. i'm like you and i agree with ralph. after 10 years would you have thought we were further along. but one of the problems in the 10 years our strategy, that's a failed strategy. thinking we can win hearts and mind against this culture, against this group of people at this time. so i think we have gone a bridge too far in what or goals in winning hearts and mind are. we don't have a good what we call an operations command that lays out the plan that we want to use to counter. in other words, the old psy-ops

campaign. i would have had the ambassador, ryan crocker who is superb, i would have had him apologize along with general allen and maybe not even apologize, but just explain the conditions. there are certain instances where you can burn a koran when it's been defiled. and these korans were defiled. i think getting those two people plus president karzai to get involved with it rather than bringing it back to washington and the silliness of having something in the secretary of defense's office. megyn: that wouldn't have don't. we have our own president apologizing and it's not doing anything some calm the violence. >> that showed weakness when the president did it. i think it exacerbated the problem by him doing it because it showed they were doing it deliberately. that's my interpretation on it. and it may not have doibt.
11:20 am
the way this was laid out. it happened so quickly. it may have been contrived in some instances because they reacted very quickly. megyn: you say it's a woefully primitive culture that we can't predict based on our own behavior how they will react to something like an apology. >> i take it you are talking about the woefully primitive culture in the white house. the white house, the administadonnistras december tht to keep anything anywhere from boiling over until november. now in the primitive society of afghanistan, from the start we set unreasonable goals. we had to go to afghanistan to heart al qaeda and punish the taliban. the mistake was staying. bush was blamed for that sending enough troops to afghanistan. the problem was he kept too many there. in real life you have to have rational goals.
11:21 am
and turning afghanistan into a model of rule of law secular democracy was never in the card. we stepped into the middle of a civil war. our counter insurgency is woefully inadequate. young americans are dying and being maimed for the political advantage of this administration, for the political prejudices of some republicans and for the vanity of generals who cannot admit that they were wrong as they could not admit in vietnam they were failing. megyn: general mcinerney, there is a question about whether president obama is at committed as he needs to be. i need a quick answer, we are up against a hard break. >> we should not have announce sad withdrawal time frame. that showed weakness. that's why when he apologized for the burning of the korans. it shows weaknesses.

11:35 am
perkins, the president of the family research council. tony, i want to start with you. does senator santorum have it right about what president kennedy then candidate kennedy was trying to say? as i read kennedy's remarks it seems like he was talking more about how he wouldn't let the vatican influence his decision making as opposed to saying what rick santorum claims now that faith can play no part in public life or the life of a politician. >> it's interesting because if you look at the speech, clearly the focus initially is on the institutional separation of church and state. which we all support. we don't want the church involved in the state and the state involved in the church. but if you read into his speech. look at context. this was in 1960. the supreme court, there was one catholic on the supreme court. today there are six members. there was a lot of friction and open hostility between catholic
11:36 am
and protestant. he was speaking to protestant leaders saying the catholic church in rome is not going to be dictating what happens in the white house under my administration. he says i will make decisions not based on religious views or the teachings of the church but rather on my own conscience and what's best for the nation. that is concerning. the last 50 years there has been an exclusion from the public space of those based upon their religious convictions. what we have seen the last two weeks is the most stark reality of this what we call separation of church and state where the state crossed over that line into the business of the church water temperature this mandate. megyn: blair, as an atheist, do you have a problem with a candidate like rick santorum being a devout catholic talking about his religious beliefs and
11:37 am
saying that faith can have some role in the public square and so can other people -- all faiths, non-faiths. but that his faith can play a role in his presidency. >> no, not at all. people have the right to believe whatever they want and those beliefs are obviously going to affect them. when you talk about affecting the conscience. his religious upbringing is his conscience in a way. so when he's talking about using his conscience to make decisions, his religious beliefs affect that conscience he's tuition make those decisions. there is no wall of separation that says you have to leave your religious beliefs as soon as enter any government office. what it says is you cannot use the government to promote religion. are they going to use religious beliefs to make informed decisions? of course. megyn: are you worried about
