field. >> reporter: romney is doing some celebrating of his own. overnight he won 18 delegates on guam and u.s. territories. he is leading in wyoming tonight. gingrich cancelled a plan to go to kansas planning to spend time in mississippi and always. regardless of the outcomes on tuesday he intends to stay in this thing all the way to the republican convention in florida this summer. he has said that before. ron paul fought hard in kansas traveling throughout the state. he told one group of voters he wasn't after a specific number of delegates but the more the merrier. everybody looks now towards tuesday and contest in the south. >> heather: thank you very much. big win for rick santorum. gregg, you have more on that. >> gregg: as rick santorum decisively takes the state of kansas, mitt romney now has more than twice as many delegates as do his opponents.

none of them are showing any signs of dropping out of the race. it's raising questions about, well, a drawn out campaign, what it might mean for the general election. should somebody fold? bob cusack joins us. newt gingrich says, this is a quote. i think there is a fair chance we're going to win meaning on tuesday. you know what, he actually could win in alabama. he is barely ahead by 1 percentage points in couple of polls but significantly behind in mississippi. he is in third place there. does he have to get a win on tuesday to remain viable? >> i think so. at least one and probably two. newt gingrich always talked about bold policies. he needs bold results. super tuesday was a very bad night for newt gingrich. he did win georgia his home state but outside of that he didn't finish second in any other state. rick santorum won one state and
1:04 pm
finished second in four others. it has to a big day for newt gingrich. he says he won't get out. we have heard other candidates, say that. remember, no more debates are scheduled. that doesn't help him. >> gregg: he insists he is going all the way to convention. as you point out everybody says that right before they toss in the towel. it's kind of a sign they are going to say, i'm going all the way to the convention. but gingrich seems really driven bob. some say he is driven by malice. do you think conservatives are going to apply serious pressure on the former speaker to quit? >> i do. i don't know if it's going to work. newt gingrich is 68. this is going to be his last run for the white house. he has a decent relationship with rick santorum. they go back a long time.
1:05 pm
gingrich does not want romney to win. he knows the best shot that santorum has is for him to drop out. but a lot of people say, snuit newt and he is going to do whathe wants. he is going to do what he wants. it remains to be is seen. of. >> gregg: if gingrich really wants to hurt mitt romney, quitting would be do the most damage, wouldn't it? >> absolutely, no doubt about it. >> gregg: i want to talk more about his strategy. no more debates. that really limits his ability to try to inspire and connect with voters because he's got serious money woes, doesn't he? >> he does and his candidacy has been helped tremendously by the super pac, he has been given five million chunks. will it continue? it remains to be seen. if you look at the map it
1:06 pm
doesn't favor gingrich. i think there will be bumps in the road for mitt romney because you had always and mississippi. after that you have louisiana. >> gregg: he is talking about winning texas and california, is that realistic? >> he's got to make the case he is just not a southern kennedy. he won big in south carolina. where else other than georgia. that is why tuesday is vital for newt gingrich. >> gregg: bob, great to talk to you. thanks very much. >> heather: another fox news alert for you now. bloodshed continuing in syria. government troops pushing ahead with a new assault in several rebel controlled areas. human rights group says more than a dozen rebels have died so far. all of this as kofi annan is meeting with assad to try to find a peaceful solution to the

it really puts the united states in a defense mode if we wait too long. i think we need to play offense and say we have the evidence that you have the program. it's illegal for you to have this. unless you allow us to have immediate inspections we're going to have take matters into our own hands. >> gregg: or israel will. rick, good to see you. >> heather: president obama talking up the economy getting a political boost from growing momentum in the jobs market. will had republican candidates have to change their campaign strategy? our power panel weighs in. taxpayers footing the bill for an electric car, but this one is pretty but it couldn't even make it around the test track before breaking down. is it becoming the next solyndra? >> that is a good-looking vehicle.
