high this weekend as president obama gets ready to hit the road for the election. >> he is drawing a lot of skrichlt for the continued escalation of gas prices. he is aware voters are upset with him fair or not for the rise in gas. in every city and every state you can hear it the pain at the pump as people are saying ouch. national average price of regular gas is 3.83 a gallon. that's up $0.07 from last week. american consumers are not happy and want something done about it. during his weekly address president obama addressed the issue touting the energy poll seep and taking aim at the republican rivals out there promising cheaper gasoline. >> it is easy to promise quick fix when it comes to gas prices. there isn't one.

weekend. more expected today. er you have storms across the country. >> we are looking at a strong storm system producing severe storms this morning and will continue to do so through out the afternoon. part of the reason we are seeing some of that precipitation and active are the warm temperatures we have been enjoying so much along the eastern half of the country. 10, 20, 30 degrees above what is typical. you are going to see that in the 80s across the southeast. severe storms in texas up into iowa as the strong cold front continues to push eastward. knotted only do we have the risk but heavy rain over the thunderstorms. it is a slow moving storm system so we are looking at concern of flash flooding along some of the same areas that could get hit for today. it includes parts of iowa into missouri western arkansas and parts of eastern texas. there is also a moderate risk in dallas into portions of san

anton antonio. what that means is that hasn't increased our chance to see the thunderstorms produce large size hails damaging wind gusts and tornados. we will continue to monitor the storm system througho out the rest of the morning. across the northeast no problem. philadelphia you are going to have sunshine in the morning hours temperatures in the 50s. i am not anticipating any delays. thunderstorms could make it into the area later on this morning. we could be seeing delays at the airport. to show you how extremely warm it is ahead of this system mid 80s for atlanta memphis to is going to be the high today. it is still winter. it won't be spring until tomorrow. >> 79 in indianapolis.

it is cheaper and there are fewer taxes. that is a phenomenon that is unbelievable. >> the taxes we play vary from state to state depending on environmental regulations. >> true. >> they are high in california because of that. >> another interesting story is not so much because we have higher gasoline but going from point a to point b. we need more pipelines that's what we talk about with the keystone project. prices may go higher because we don't have those. >> the largest refiner in the northeast is actually closing down in july. that would take a third of gasoline off the market. extending prices out. the problem is not because we don't have enough oil. it comes out of the midwest. we don't have the pipeline to define the low grade kind.

unlawful possession of a firearm. the upgraded charge is a felony. prosecutors say they have a case here. it is through the criminal th s negligence of aer in. the mother can be charged. was mom criminally neglect? mom is a felon. she is not supposed to have a gun. second she had a gun in a place where an 8-year-old, 9-year-old boy could get access to it. >> they are talking about the unlawful compartment of the car where the boy phoned the car which was loaded. even though the prosecutor said on the other hand the defense attorneys say the state doesn't have a shot. the parents the mother and the boyfriend were not there at the time of the incident. they also -- sorry. they could be found guilty of unlawful possession. take a listen.

morning. unfortunately the warm air will be causing severe thunderstorms and just to show you how warm it is 70 degrees in kansas city early this morning. 70 as you head out the door in dallas and 71 degrees in san antonio. as you head out the door or later on this afternoon you have sunshine fire things up and we are talking about a severe weather threat stretching from iowa all of the way down into texas. that area shaded in red is where we have even a greater chance to see that large hail damaging wind gusts and even tornados. heads up san antonio in dallas keep this through out the day and if there are any warnings make sure to seek shelter immediately. these won't even be bringing in risk for severe weather but also flooding. speegsly austin down there from the big south, southwest. thank you so much maria. it was pouring rain down there through out early part of the week. south by southwest festival

does effect the president. statement there is no reason somehow the republicans are doing well with the retracted piem mary is totally false. if you look at the unfavorables in mitt romney in october he was even. those who viewed him favorably and unfavorably even 17 points higher for people who view him unfavorably than people who view him favorably. >> two things not so good for republicans and not good for president obama what do you agree with? >> i think the primary isn't a bad thing. it helps make the candidate stronger as we are seeing now mitt romney has become a better de bart because of the fact that he constantly has to compete with newt gingrich in these debates. it makes for a stronger candidates in the general election. i do agree with barber that president obama hasn't really gotten anything good out of this. if anything he's doing bad. we are seeing he is struggle to

go get high dollar donations from the campaign which is extremely rare and kind of embarrassing for a sitting president. the amount of high dollar donations george w. bush had at this point during his election is four times more than what obama has right now. i think a lot of people are disenchanted and there isn't that enthusiasm any more. >> karl rove wrote a speech saying he was shocked president obama didn't have higher dollar donations. he is getting small doe significances. is that a problem? >> not at all. it is a a great thing he is getting small donations. it reflects people, regular people. he has a level of grass-roots support. the other thing he doesn't want is the big doe nations he got from wall street in 2008. big donations comes with string attached. that's the big thing. wall street doesn't elect the president they want to elect
