6:00 pm
are definitely looking out for you! >> tonight the clock is ticking toward high noon tomorrow when the obama justice department must explain to a federal court exactly what the president meant when he appeared to question the sovereignty of the u.s. supreme court. we will have analysis of this developing story. plus in a has been ski exclusive, the father of george zimmerman will be here tonight as we take a step by step look at the tragic night that killed trayvon martin. and we take a walk down memory lane back to a time when hope and change and soaring rhetoric ruled the day. remember this. >> i don't want to -- i don't
6:01 pm
want to pick black america against blue america, i want to be the president of the united states! >> and to say that the president's message has evolved since 2007 would be a very serious understatement because as he eyes a second term of government he's pitting the rich against the poor, religion against religion and he intends to divide this country in order to conquer it for four more years. it wasn't more there when tried to vilify the canning men. >> the congressmen running congress right now have doubled down and proposes a budget so far to the right it makes the contract with america look like a new deal. it's a troughiage horse disguised as deficit reduction plans. it's really an attempt to impose a radical vision on our country.
6:02 pm
it is thinly-veiled social darwinism. >> keep in mind this is the same person who looked you people in the american eye in 2008 and promised he would unite this country. times have clearly changed because it's very clear he's going to convince anything to convince the people of this country that republicans are the enemy. watch this. >> if this budget becomes law and the cuts were applied evenly, starting in 2014, over 200,000 children would lose their chance to get an early ed indication in the head start program. 2 million mothers and young children would be cut from a program that gives them access to healthy food. there would be 4500 fewer federal grants at the department of justice and the fbi to violent violent crime, financial crime and help secure our borders. hundreds of national parks would be forced to close for part or all of the year.
6:03 pm
we wouldn't have the capacity to enforce the laws that protect the air we breathe, the water we drink or the food that we eat. >> and joining me now with reaction to the president's irresponsible speech is the author of suicide of a superpower, the one and only patrick j buchanan. you know, pat, let me adjust two more sound bites to this and then i will give you full time to give your explanation. in my view its simple to analyze. off president who cannot run on his record so the very thing he ran on in 2008 he can't run on today, hope and change and bringing the country together. he's gone as far to say that the republicans' plan is for dirty air and dirty water and kids with autism, down syndrome and the elderly will have to fend for themselves. watch this. >> my plan says we are going to put teachers back in the classroom, construction workers back to work, rebuilding america, rebuilding our schools, tax cuts for small businesses,
6:04 pm
that's correct cuts for hiring veterans, tax cuts if you give your worker a raise. that's my plan. and then you got their plan which is let's have dirtier air, dirtier water, less people with health insurance. >> who are these 50 million americans? many of somebody's grandparents. maybe one of yours who wouldn't be able to afford nursing home care without medicaid. many are poor children. some of middle class families who have children with autism or down syndrome. some of these kids with disabilities are -- the disacts are so severe that they require 24 hour care. these are the americans we would
6:05 pm
be telling to fend for themselves. >> patrick buchanan, you have heard a lot of this in your lifetime, what do you think? >> sean, i think you are correct. this is device i have and it's demogogic. it is also foolish. we are seven months away from the presidential election and barack obama is crippling the most vital asset he has, which is the presidency of the united states and the aura that surrounds it and the fact the american people give deference to the president. he's coming down and making himself a pretty savage partisan n so doing he is also damaging his reputation which seems to be deserved that he's a very likable individual. he is polar eyeing and dividing the country. quite frankly, it is not credible to portray mitt romney as some kind of social darwinist that is going to order them to shoot down the strikers in the street. i think ice own people, quite
6:06 pm
frankly, are probably going to pull him back from this kind of rhetoric because it's the end of campaign rhetoric of somebody who is losing. as you said, if you have a great record to run on, run on it. you don't go out and try to demonize your opponent. >> i disagree with you. i don't think it will stop. they will accelerate it. remember the republicans were going to reduce the cost of medicare to 7% for seven years. i bet they double down on. it the one thing we have to focus on, he cannot run on his record by any objective discerning record. his record is a failure. he's failed it on every measure. so now the president, you know, they are losing the arguments on the issues in many ways so they have to propagandize. demonize, destroy the opposition. the question is how vulnerable will the american people be to
6:07 pm
this? >> i don't think he can do it. i have been in the campaigns, the nixon campaign of '92 where we ran a tainted george mcgovern outside the mainstream of american politics as they did to barry gold water are in '64 and i was part of that. however, the president himself doesn't do it. nixon didn't mention mcgovern's name. if the president wants this done, he ought to have biden do it and have his cabinet officials do it but for the president of the the united states he's just damaging himself. >> and add to this now the second attack, and we will get into this in more detailbut we are vetting the president, we are showing him in his own words then and now. but now he's attacking the supreme court of the united states. what do you think? >> think we have a radical returning. he has moved up and beyond that. the one thing he's got going for him, he's a likable guy, he's the president.
6:08 pm
he talks about red state, not blue state, the united states of america. why would you throw all that away seven months before the election? it looks like almost a panic if it's not an effort to define romney because they are afraid romney will be able to define himself as a pretty decent guy who is going to come in and do the job. >> i think, pat, i think that's very well-said. i think the president is hurting himself but i don't suspect. i think they will double down. pat buchanan, go to see you. >> good to see you, sean. >> this ladies us to the text poll question, was the president out of line with his supreme court comments? you can text us at 36288. we will have the results coming up later this hour. and coming up tonight an exclusive sit down with the father of trayvon martin's shooter, george zimmerman. he will tell us what his son says happened that night. don't miss this exclusive interview. when we come back we continue to vet the president, we will talk about his comments and the supreme court justice was

the brand new book "can't is not an option." good to see you. >> good to see you. >> you were strongly supported by the tea party movement. you had a big win, and i was reminded in your book, you were way behind and -- >> nicky who? >> right. and that was in february of 2010, the year you won. so you had to work very hard to get there. but you had strong support from the tea party. you went out and you very early on you supported governor romney. how do you feel after his three state win last night or two-state and district of column paw. >> i talk about my relationship with mitt romney and ann romney in the book and how i have known them. the whole goal of that endorsement is i didn't want anybody that was part of the chaos of washington and i wanted someone who knew what it was like to be on the other side of government. to watch businesses succeed and create jobs and knowing that sometimes businesses fail. i think what you are seeing with gov. romney, he has the

strength, he has the endurance, he has the fight. when he comes out of this, i strongly believe he will be our republican nominee and we will have a business person in the white house. >> you said unequivocally you don't want to be considered, if they say we would like to at least vet you, governor, you are on the short list to be chosen as being vp, you would say what? >> i would say thank you, but no. after you listen to the struggles of the campaign and the book and all that, i made a promise to the people of south carolina. they took a chance on me. i need to finish my job. i need to do what i promised them i would do. >> one of the things you talked about, we got into this with governor palin last night a little bit, and i think it's an important issue, and we see it with the president, at a press conference yesterday, and he has been telegraphing where the campaign is going, which is very negative, that republicans want dirty air, republicans want dirty water and they want the he wouldler and i people with down syndrome to fend for themselves and he keeps reiterating these

things and you talked about in the book, and it's similar, they accused of you having an affair. here you are married 13 years and you had to go out and explain, no, i did not have one. how hard is that to deal with, and how would you recommend if it's governor romney or the candidate, deal with that? >> i talking about it in the report and i talked about it last week. last week they said i was getting indicted for tax fraud and i had to come out with a letter saying it's not there, i am not. and the days of anonymous tips has to stop and it will only stop when the media quits picking it up. this is getting involved in politics. when you have people who may or may not be paid to say these things and do these things and to cause distractions. the number one goal for our republican nominee, the number one goal has to be stay on message. and that is this is a man who came in on hope and change and now he's going to do with gloom and doom and try to scare people into voting for him again.

>> you talk a lot about your background. it's actually very interesting, and where you came from and how you got into this crazy business. >> i mean this is the story of a daughter of indian parents, legal immigrants that's correct came here because they wanted a better life for their kids and they never let us how blessed we were to be in this country. and just imagine in that same state where we did face some challenges, i mean racial challenges, culture challenges, all types of challenges being the only indian family in that small town, to think that's the same state that elect add 38-year-old indian-american female for governor says so much about the state of south carolina and it says so much about our country and where we are going. >> isn't it the quintessential americans? >> it is. my mom was one of the first female judges in india and wasn't able to sit on the bench because of the challenges of females. to come to south carolina at that time when no one know who it was like to see a man in a

turbine or a woman in a -- and have them build their business, watch their children be successful and watch their daughter give the oath to go governor of south carolina, it's an amazing thing." and it says so much about this country. >> so if you are not going to consider or even allow yourself to be considered to be vice president, who do you like? >> oh, there are so many good vice presidential candidates. >> just name three or four. >> you've got a great ones you have heard, governor palin talked about west, and marco rubio is great, and chris christie, can be the fighter, and i think there are so many really great ones out there. i think romney is going to have a hard time picking. >> the book is called "can't is not an option." the governor of the great state of south carolina. good to see you. congratulations on everything. >> thank you very much. come visit us. we will love to have you. >> and as always, thank you for being with us.
