her father will return to the campaign trail sometime today after taking four-days off to be with his family and his little girl. today santorum will have two events in pennsylvania. he has been silent after the fatal shooting of trayvon martin. george zimmerman is asking for money. he writes how it forced him to leave his entire life and has a link for people to pay his legal fees and living expenses. zimmerman will not face a grand jury for the shooting. still not clear what if any charges he will face. >> jury selection will resume in the murder trial of jennifer hudson's family members. 14 prospective jurors were picked. belfour is suspected of killing her mother, brother and nephew in 2008. hudson is expected to attend the trial that starts later this month. our colleague and fox news

sunday host chris wallace sharing memories of his father the late mike wallace. my dad was everything you saw in television, fascinating, funny, challenging and exasperating. he was the best reporter i have ever known. while work often came first for him over the last 20-years he worked hard to make connections with his family. he became my best friend. at the end he was surrounded by children, grandchildren and even great grandchildren. i already miss him terribly. legendary journalist mike wallace was 93 years old. >> we wish that family the best. we are getting a look at even more of the videos of employees from the general services administration laughing it up on your dime. ♪

it's not the best wake up weather again. maybe a light coating. drive carefully and that's basically across portions of up state new york and portions of vermont and main and new hampshire. parts of the midwest. much cooler temperatures. some of the cooler temperatures are going to impact portions of the northeast as well as we head in into tonight and northeast as well. of course what we heard earlier this morning in the show about weather that affected large size hails causing damage to cars. we are seeing the severe weather across northern parts of louisiana and texas panhandle and large size hail damaging wind gusts and isolated tornadoes will be possible again as we head into later afternoon and evening hours.

>> a dangerous brush fire raging on long island new york. crews battling the claims throu -- flames through out the night. wnyu reporter robert moses. high, robert. >> good morning to you. good morning everyone. the reason you don't see much smoke in the background is because we are being kept away from the fire. you can see the squad car behind me. it's on the eastern end of long island. there have been hundreds of firefighters battling this fire. it is being called the worst

ones of suffolk county to hit long island since 1995. firefighters from 109 different counties are fighting it. it has been burning away from most homes and businesses. however there is a red flag warning. there is plenty of wind and dry fuel to keep this going. three firefighters have already been injured fighting this place. two of them have been released but a third is still receiving treatments for burns. still no word on what caused this fire. one note on the weather today. the wind is not quite as noticeable as it was at this hour yesterday. so hopefully that will give firefighters some help in what has been a very difficult fight. the fire started yesterday around 2:30 at two separate fires quickly fused in one. this has become a nightmare for firefighters. through the night they did sort of an exterior attack which means they fought the fire from

workers clowning around on a dime. showed employees dancing it up and dressed up like the cartoon character as well. they are under intense scrutiny after it was discovered it blew 18,000 of tax money on a conference near las vegas. >> two men accused of going on a deadly rampage have now confessed. alvin watts admitted to shooting two people while england said he shot three people. three of the victims eventually died. investigators think there was an attack between his father and a black man. the search is on for an inmate who escaped from a north carolina prison. deputies say another inpate popped a sprinkler head that's when he escaped as officers tried to deal with flooding. he was under an immigration

hold. he was charged with felony larceny and felony breaking and entering. a bus driver in pennsylvania taking quick action to stop a hit and run driver in his tracks. you can see the car toward the right. he hits a cycle list and starts to pull away. the bus driver sees the hit and run and right away turns so that he totally blocks both lanes of traffic. the driver has nowhere to go at this point. the cyclist appears a okay. you can see him walking around after the accident. the driver of the car facing multiple charges. >> call it a jet drive. watch as the female beach goer is blown away by a sij engine. >> she was at the beach in the caribbean island of saint martin. it is known for the close proximity to the air force. there are signs every where just like this one warning of the extreme ganger.

it is unclear what injuries the victim sustained. those are your headlines at 5:30. >> the white house said to be movings half a billion dollars to the irs to put obama care in place even though the law could be struck down in months. joining us now doug luzader. >> the supreme court could be mulling over whether it is constitutional. the white house is charging ahead with that. one part of that is giving the irs half a billion dollars to start putting together their part of healthcare reform. it includes forcing the individual mandate charging people with a fy or a tax if they refuse to purchase health insurance. >> no matter what you think of obama care in general they ought to at least hold off until the

court rules. that's just coming a few months from now. why spend a lot of money? why go down the road we may not go down. that is what is particularly disturbing is the timing of this. the court will rule in a few months. obama administration is spending a lot of money they may not need to spend or may just be wasted. at a minute um wait until june wait until the court rules. the white house shot back saying the irs needs to be prepared to implement a law that the president thinks is clearly constitutional. >> this is about enabling the irs to provide essentially the tax breaks to small businesses and individuals to assist them in acquiring health insurance or in the the case of small businesses providing health insurance. we should know where the supreme court stands on this by june. the irs will be ready to go in

the meantime. >> you will keep us posted on that. thanks so much. have a good one. >> before you leave the house this morning it's time to check out your first degree weather update with maria molina and more on the changing conditions in the northeast. >> good to see you. we are looking at changing conditions across parts of the northeast and midwest. over the last several weeks you have been enjoying temperatures well above average and winter like conditions. we are seeing snow showers come along in up state new york vermont and specs of white showing up on the radar that is where the snow is coming down. we are not expecting any accumulation. it will be mixing in with rainfall. light shower activity. light coating possible along some of the roadways especially as you head into higher elevations. not a lot of moisture pennsylvania.

bp also looking at dry conditions. because it is chilly out there we are looking at a number of freeze warnings across parts of minneapolis, iowa across areas south of the great lakes into parts of west virginia so again you have a number of warnings out there. bring your plans indoors. if we have any outdoors you could do that with. frost advisories across parts of tennessee. you may be waking up to rust on your car windshield. some of these warnings do go into effect tomorrow morning as well. keep an eye out for that. otherwise dry out there and breezy from new york city on southward into north carolina. there is a flag warning in effect. no outdoor burning if we have any wildfires they could be spread quickly today because of the breezy and dry conditions. off to the west we have a risk for severe weather. parts of oklahoma and northern texas yesterday. once again today we have a

>> it's 45 after the hour. every now and then we hear about strange laws on the books that most don't know are on the books. with the tax deadline on the way how about a look at where your money is going. we have the story. >> turns out taking a closer look at the tax code can be more interesting than you think. in illinois most people know they pay a sales tax on food 1.25 percent. they also pay a 5 percent sir charge on top of that for candy

as long as it doesn't contain flower. if you want malted milk ball you won't need to pay the sir charge. if you want to buy a sewed bau in chicago you may want to think about where it is coming from. a bottle or can may come 3 percent or soda 9 percent. the state considers them personal property but you only have to pay $10 for a spayed or neutered pet verses 75 for one in tact. you will pay no tax on a bagel but as soon as someone slices it 8 percent tax. if you are looking to play cards in alabama you have to pay the state an extra 10 krints per pack. that's nothing compared to the seller who has to pay a dollar plus a # dollar license fee. even if you are playing go fish it doesn't matter that tax applies to all decks of 55 cards or less. the list goes on and on. you might want to check the books to see what kind of taxes they are paying. might be surprised what they find. >> how do they come up with
