loss of $2 billion with a capit capital b. jamie dimon appears to be safe in his job. he ak mojed management mistakes did occur. he does not believe the company die vat -- violated any laws. they are stirring up the debate over the reform legislation signed the president in 2010. many republicans want to rollback or some of the law including the trading rules claiming they are burdensome and will limit lending in a weak economy. the democrats would like to tighten up the regulations and do more. jamie dimon says the company was sloppy, stupid and used bad management. they fought against any regulations is stating regulators should look into this it's their job. meantime president obama

during his trip to new york monday taped an interview with "the view." he was asked what he thought about the jp morgan station. >> jp morgan is one of the best managed banks there is. jamie dimon the head of it is one of the smartest we have got and they lost 2 billion and counting because they were making bets in these derivative markets. we don't know all of the details yet. it will be investigated. but this is why we pass wall street reform. >> you heard the president say right there it is going to be investigated. so move forge ward the senate banking committee plans to hold a new round of hearings into implementing frank in the coming weeks and this new round and the losses of jp morgan. >> kelly wright thank you for joining us this morning. patty anne? >> -- patty ann?

>> ron paul calling it quits for his presidential campaign. the republican congressman telling supporters in an e-mail he will no longer spend money in states that aren't holding primaries yet. he praised them for supporting mitt romney and urged them to continue to do so. he will have a conference call to go over their plan. a long time new jersey airport security supervisor is known as jerry thomas. jerry thomas is dead. his real name is nigerian. he used a fake id to hide his immigration status. he worked as a security supervisor at newark international for 20-years having passed background checks and everything. we will have this story in a live report later in the show. an al qaeda affiliate in

yemen is releasing an english training manual. telling wannabe terrorists not to leave their home for a week so they can understand what terror camps are like. they said to image virgins waiting for them in paradise when they feel afraid. it is written by a man who is known to spread terrorism. a wildfire is still raging in arizona and forcing many residents to flee their homes. the fire has grown to nearly 1 square mile destroying two buildings and one trailer. crews continue to fight the fires across the state. the dry hot weather making it difficult to contain the flames. no more waiting to make a call until you get off your flight. passengers on virgin atlantic will be able to make in-flight cell phone calls and send text messages. it is only available on london

bring rain and another one that is dry. not a lot of moisture with it. it will fire up fires and storms around the chicago area later on today. the rain from our first and weaker system across the northeast a relatively week system is bringing rain across up state new york and into new england. we will see delays because of the rainshowers. we could actually see over an inch of rain in new york city and over portions of boston. you are going to need the umbrellas and possibly the rain if we pick up an inch of rain out there. thunderstorms pushing eastward across southeastern portions of the day. thunderstorms could turn severe. keep an eye out around the chicago area and a second area we will be watching in the carolinas. >> maria molina, thanks. now to stories you can bank on this morning beginning with the struggling european markets. i am joining us with more lauren

the company he's referencing with romney, there is gst steel. romney in fact has left the day-to-day management, the day-to-day operations back in 1999 when he took over the head of the olympic games in salt lake city. is the ad really fair? >> it is completely dishonest. romney has left this business years prior to all of these layoffs. on the other hand, obama has been in office when 23 million americans have lost their jobs and become unemployed. it is ridiculous obama is trying to call out romney for supposedly putting a business in debt when obama added over $5 trillion to this nation's debt in less than four years. >> let's take a look at those numbers china as i toss it over to you. in 2009 the deficit 10.6 trillion when he took over office. now it is 15.6 trillion. does president obama really have

an argument here? is this a fight he should take on? >> of course he has an argument. he gave millions of jobs were lost before he took office. obama wasn't there when we lost jobs and went into a recession and before a any of his policies went into action 4 million more jobs were lost. we need to look at the intention behind what happened in this job creation argument. what is always president obama's intention, right? if we are going to fund these projects on the condition that jobs are created. name one project that romney has ever worked on. before we work on this the condition is jobs. nobody can name that. >> we can name some jobs governor romney has created. in four years governor romney

created 41,000 jobs in 48 months in massachusetts compared to president obama. we have 572,000 jobs lost in 39 months for the country. mush shell? >> lo -- michelle? >> romney was dealing with private equity. you are taking over these distressed businesses. there will be successes and failures. to say romney has never added any jobs that's ridiculous. >> why are we comparing jobs lost to jobs created? that's not an even measuring stick. also it's not an even measuring stick to take a governor that was governor at a time when we weren't in a recession and compare him to a president who inherited a mess. >> oh my god. come on. come on. he has had three years. he needs to get his act together. it's disastrous economic policies putting people further and further into debt. >> easier said than done. i think he has done the best.

baseball has reached out to him. those are your five headlines at 5:30. well up for sale a high-tech plant in california with nearly 412,000 square feet in a troubled past. we are talking about bankrupt green energy company. may have heard of it solyndra. kel rewright joins us live in washington with a peak inside. good morning again. >> good morning to you as well. i have good property to show you if you are in the market for buying a major facility. the sun is setting fast for solyndra. they gave fox news a tour of the manufacturing office facility. it has more than 411,000 square feet. state of the art electrical air and power distribution systems as part of the bankruptcy proceedings. solyndra is reportedly very close to landing a buyer for the mammoth high-tech production plant. partly covered up by sheets of paper to filter the sunlight. the glass windows of the very

minutes. wala's corey pip pen reports. two-days after a fire broke out tiffany jackson and her 12-year-old son justin jackson are now sifting through what's left of the milton home. justin was in the home saturday night with his three younger brothers and little sister when the fire began. if it wasn't for justin they might have never got out. >> he is a hero in my eyes. he saved my babies. >> justin and his brothers were asleep in the living room when they say a loud noise woke them up. what they saw were flames engulfing the wall behind them. justin jumped into action getting his brothers 5-year-old william 6-year-old diego and 9-year-old emilio out of the house. >> the second time justin ran into the burning home it was to save his 3-year-old sister brooklyn. but he couldn't get her bedroom door open. so kicked it open. rescued her from her bed where she was still asleep. >> it was hard to even pick her up she was so stiff p and

blaze. both parents were working at the time of the fire. that's not what they recommend. you should never go back in because then you have more fatalities. but boy happy ending there. >> great little boy. justin you are a hero definitely. >> before you leave the house this morning let's get your first degree weather update with maria molina. she has news about a tropical storm. >> yes. today is the first day of the eastern pacific hurricane season for the year 2012 and we are already talking about tropical storm aletta. winds 40 miles per hour. pretty incredible we are kicking off the hurricane season with the brand new tropical storm. very unusual. we will keep an eye on the storm system as we continue to track west ward across the pacific ocean. otherwise it will be a hot dry day across the southwest. we will be seeing winds possibly gusting over 40 miles per hour in parts of arizona, nevada and utah. we have red flag warnings in effect out here.

access to the airport's secure areas. he didn't carry a firearm. he was also in charge of 30 other guards. he was a supervisor. he had an unblemished record. anonymous tip got his place going. jerry thomas was someone who was shot at the ymca back in 1992. they had come to the country in 1999. assumed his name in 1992. they are wondering if he had anything do with that person's death. he had a social security card and birth certificate of jerry thomas. he was finger printed but they never caught on until they got that anonymous tip. made people very nervous. wonder what they look into if they look for anything when they are hiring. >> that's not right. that needs to be corrected.
